Artist Victoria Chick discusses Surrealism, an art movement of the early 20th century. Surrealism was a European movement propelled, at first, by literature but played out in visual art, theater, and film as well as literary works. It was the outgrowth of many influences including the writings of Freud, the shock effect of nihilist Dada artists, early 20th century philosophy, and the political effects of Communism and Anarchism.Read Victoria's article on Surrealism here: https://blendradioandtv.com/listing/surrealism-an-art-movement-of-the-early-20th-century/Music on this episode is 'Your Dreams' by Jon Magnusson - www.JonMagnusson.se

Stockholm-based singer-songwriter Jon Magnusson joins Big Blend Radio to share the stories behind the songs in his third EP “Acoustic Dreams”. In this collection, he has peeled off the electric guitars, drums and all other electronic instruments. Instead he uses a finger-picked acoustic guitar as the main attraction, supported by some orchestral arrangement. The EP consists of five songs, two originals and three covers of songs from such different genres as punk, power metal and synth pop. This episode was sponsored by the National Parks Arts Foundation who creates unique artist-in-residence programs in park units within the National Parks Service. www.NationalParksArtsFoundation.org
