The founder of the Executive Remote Worker, Kristie Sullivan, is a 20+ year veteran of climbing the corporate ladder in the US. She took a sabbatical from her career to travel the world full-time for 1 year. During her sabbatical, which overlapped the COVID-19 pandemic, she realized two things: 1) Life was short, and tomorrow was not promised to anyone. 2) There was a fast-growing, work-and-travel opportunity resulting from the pandemic that her corporate peers could be taking advantage of. From that point forward, she made it her mission to help corporate executives realize their dreams of travel NOW! If you have meaningful dreams of travel and can work remotely, why limit your travel to typical vacations or push it off until you retire? This is a double celebration! First, Kristie Sullivan, MPH, joins us we take a look back at how we were able to save the lives of thousands of animals over the last year—including ending deadly live animal labs for emergency medicine training at Vanderbilt University and paramedic training at the University of Washington. We also shut down lethal dog labs for veterinary training at Tuskegee University and Auburn University. In fact, the Physicians Committee is the only national group working to end “terminal” surgery labs in veterinary schools. That is why we need your support to continue our lifesaving work for both animals and humans. All donations will be matched up to $200,000 through Dec. 31. Also, “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll is joined by Dr. Hana Kahleova who is preparing to lead a study on the effect a plant-based diet may have on people with type 1 diabetes. Josie is just 13 years old but she’s already saving lives and making the world a better place! Before the calendar flips to 2020, this super inspiring teen joins “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll for a special episode of The Exam Room™ to share her astonishing story. The young vegan spotted a cage on the side of the road. On the outside was a sign reading “Free Bacon.” On the inside was a tiny abandoned pig. Josie knew she didn’t stumble across a meal, she stumbled across a friend whom would soon have a new home and a new name, Franny. Their story has captured the hearts of thousands and now Josie is working tirelessly to help rescue other animals while spreading awareness of the benefits of a plant-based diet. Her efforts are similar to the work being done in Michigan where lawmakers are working to outlaw painful experiments on dogs. Chuck is joined by Kristie Sullivan, Vice President of Research Policy at the Physicians Committee, to get an update on our efforts in the state and where things stand with the groundbreaking legislation. We need your help to continue our work in 2020! From ending animal cruelty to life-saving research for human health to educating thousands of doctors on nutrition, we cannot do this without your support! Thanks to some very generous members of the Physicians Committee, up to the first $500,000 donated until January 1 will automatically be matched dollar-for-dollar during the December Matching Gift Challenge! That means your generous contribution will automatically be doubled and go twice and far and help twice as much. — — — SUPPORT PCRM Donate: http://bit.ly/PCRMDonateMatch — — — Chuck Carroll Twitter: @ChuckCarrollWLC IG: @ChuckCarrollWLC Facebook: https://wghtloss.cc/ChuckFacebook — — — Josie IG: @thatteenpigmom — — — Franny The Pig IG: @franfran_pig — — — Michigan House Bill 5090 Track: http://bit.ly/dogbill — — — Contact Michigan Representatives Message: http://bit.ly/hb5090contact — — — Physicians Committee Twitter: @PCRM IG: @PhysiciansCommittee Facebook: https://wghtloss.cc/PCRMFacebook — — — SPECIAL EVENT Dr. Neal Barnard and Chuck will both be speaking at The Kickstart Intensive on January 10-11 in Washington, DC! Kristie Sullivan had a weight problem for over 40 years. From age 3 to 43, Kristie was overweight and much of that time, even obese. Over the years, she tried all the diets and took the doctors and nutritionists advice to eat less and move more. At over 300 pounds, she even had bypass surgery in her late 20's. Long term, nothing helped. She'd lose some weight, then gain it all back and more. At the age of 43 she tried something new. She tried Keto!

On a bonus episode of The Exam Room™ podcast, we are celebrating a major victory for animals! The lives of hundreds of thousands of mice, rabbits and other mammals will be spared thanks to a new directive by the Environmental Protection Agency. The agency is eliminating all chemical testing on mammals by 2035 and the tests will begin to be phased out long before then! “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll is joined by Kristie Sullivan, MPH, Physicians Committee vice president for research policy, to learn exactly when the changes will begin to occur, how the decision could urge other agencies to follow suit, and even how this will affect the products that might be in your home. You’ll also learn about innovative non-animal testing methods that are more accurate and effective, prevent unnecessary suffering, and save the lives of many animals. But as you’ll hear there is still much work to be done! Chuck and Kristie also talk about the next steps to continue ending animal testing in labs and medical schools and how you can help! True story: A woman is overjoyed to learn that not only is she pregnant, but that she’s carrying twins. Then doctors make a devastating discovery. One of the children has developed a fatal birth defect and will not survive long outside the womb. The news is soul crushing. But the woman and her husband are determined that their child’s life, however brief, will have great purpose. Prior to giving birth, they arrange to donate the boy’s eyes, organs, and blood to medical research. And the impact of those gifts would turn out to be extraordinary. Countless lives are now being positively impacted because of the couple’s heart-wrenching decision. Indeed, his short life touched more people than many who inhabit the earth for 80 years or longer. They did not realize it at the time, but the impact would also extend beyond human life as the lives of countless animals would also be spared because of the donations. On this special episode of The Exam Room™ Podcast, "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll sits down Sarah Gray who details an emotional journey that began before birth and continued on long after the death of her son, Thomas, as she tracked down the researchers were using the organs as part of trailblazing medical science. Gray has also chronicled the story in the book A Life Everlasting, which she dedicated to Thomas. Chuck is also joined by Kristie Sullivan who is the Vice President of Research Policy for the Physicians Committee. She has interesting insight on the specific diseases that are benefitting from organ and tissue donation, including the leading forms of cancer. Kristie also details how animals can be spared from medical research because of your decision to donate! Aidan Gallagher is a young plant-based game changer! Not only is he a tv star, he’s also a heck of a musician who is already using his celebrity status to advocate for animal welfare and promote the health benefits of a vegan diet. The 15-year-old is best known for starring on the long-running Nickelodeon show “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn” as well as the Netflix series “The Umbrella Academy” but did you know that he’s also the youngest goodwill ambassador ever appointed by the United Nations thanks to his environmental advocacy? Not too bad for someone still a few years shy of college age! He joined “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll from his home in California to talk about keeping it plant-based on the set and in the music studio, “doing alright” in the kitchen, his philanthropic efforts, and his upcoming EP, Blue Neon. Then, Chuck learns about the big impact that one small device — about the size of your finger — is going to have on the future of healthcare as he’s joined in-studio by Kristie Sullivan, M.P.H. Kristie is the Vice President of Research Policy with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and an expert on the modern medical marvel known as organ-on-a-chip! The device can replicate human organs and give researchers insight on how cells will respond to prospective medication! Not only will it accelerate the speed at which new medicine becomes available, but it is also expected to bring the skyrocketing cost of healthcare back down to earth. The organ-on-a-chip will also eliminate the need for animal testing in drug trials. Research combining artificial intelligence and heart-on-a-chip technology was recently profiled in the media.
