Tune in as filmmaker Joshua R. Pangborn (Sidekick Productions) returns to the podcast for a breakdown of Marvel's Agent Carter, the two-season MCU TV show that premiered in 2015 and follows secret agent Peggy Carter as she embarks on espionage missions with the help of a few allies while wrestling with the daily challenges and misogyny that come with living as a single woman in the 1940s. A disability depiction that's handled respectfully enough for the mid-2010s, a character's military backstory sending Arthur into a rant, and a non-irritating usage of the love triangle trope comprise a few of this episode's talking points. Created by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, Agent Carter stars Hayley Atwell, James D'Arcy, Chad Michael Murray, Enver Gjokaj, Shea Whigham, Dominic Cooper, Bridget Regan, Lyndsy Fonseca, Ralph Brown, Kyle Bornheimer, Lesley Boone, Reggie Austin, Wynn Everett, Kurtwood Smith, Currie Graham, Lotte Verbeek, Ken Marino, and Sarah Bolger. For this special episode the Rev'd Dr Jamie Franklin was joined by Robin Monotti Graziadei, the producer of the new film 'The Book of Vision' starring Charles Dance and Lotte Verbeek, directed by Carlo Hinterman and executively produced by Terrence Malick. The Book of Vision is about healing, medicine and the human soul. It tells the story of a real Prussian doctor from the eighteenth century whose approach was medicine was one of listening and developing a human connection with his patients. This approach is contrasted with the emerging modern idea of human beings as machines that simply need to be tinkered with in order to produce health.Robin and Jamie talked about the relevance of the film's themes to the response to Covid-19 and what that response revealed about society's understanding of healing, health and medicine. They also spoke about the importance of a holistic approach to health that involves not only preventing ourselves from becoming ill but cultivating and nourishing our souls as well as our bodies.Support us on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/irreverend) or Buy Me a Coffee (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/irreverend)For your merchandise needs: https://irreverendmerch.bss.designLinks:Prevent Watchdog Blacklist: CS Lewis and more details on the list Gary Lineker owns the inept BBCSNP Leadership - Humza Yusuf, up to birth sex-selective abortion Notices:Find links to our episodes, social media accounts and ways to support us at https://www.irreverendpod.com!Thursday Circles: http://thursdaycircle.comJamie's Good Things Substack: https://jamiefranklin.substack.comIrreverend Sermon Audio: https://irreverendsermonaudio.buzzsprout.comSupport the show

Case Profile for Katarina Rostova Liz wants answers from her grandpappy and sadly he is not giving Liz or that woman claiming to be Katarina Rostova any satisfaction. In fact Dom is willing to die to protect the secrets he has. That is until he has a seizure and then starts hallucinating visions of his daughter Katarina played by Lotte Verbeek this week. Turns out according to Dom that Katarina stole the Sikorski archive and now Red has it, but so does Katarina. Confused just you wait. The task force is on the hunt to find Liz and her "mother" but Red gets the head start via a tracker placed on Ressler via Dembe. Red essentially kidnaps Liz and has Dembe hold her until this last part is done, killing a man named Heidiger to draw out blonde Katarina and end the conflict once and for all. Except, that conflict ends directly in front of Liz who will never be able to forgive Red. The post Episode 39 – Corey Johnson with Lotte Verbeek appeared first on Love Talkin'.
Hey, please read this note. Julie and I (Allison) screwed up. This is a funny episode, we think — god, we hope so — and we had not one but TWO amazing guests, and we got to talk about Lotte Verbeek a lot, so, win. But we were vaguely dissatisfied with the show's handling of slavery, and talked about it as such, wrapped the episode, and went home happy. Then we woke up the next morning, thought about it some more, and realized that yeah, we screwed up. The thing about white privilege is that it's based on the idea that white people are always centered in the narrative, and you can be "woke" and still be totally ignorant of the constant, insidious ways that society and culture sideline people of color in favor of whiteness, even in stories about people of color. So we sat our white asses down, accepted that somehow this story was about how Claire felt about buying a slave, thought for about five minutes afterward, and totally failed you all — both of us as people failed, and I in particular as a critic failed. And so I'll say quickly here what we ignorantly and damagingly didn't say then: Outlander failed, too, and they failed hard. No modifications to this episode, no additions. Just two white women who think they've got it figured out proving how far they have to go. We're sorry. If you're a person of color, we're especially sorry. If you have any thoughts you want to share — about the show, about our handling of it, about anything – please send them to podlanderdrunkcast@gmail.com, or reach out on Twitter, or whatever you like. If you want to come on the show, we'll shut our foolish mouths and let you speak. And if we lose you here, well, we can't blame you. So here it is, and a special thanks to guests Ruth McCormack and Catie Kirschner, as well as to Helena, who came to visit us just beforehand, and to Molly Mullen, who provided some truly delicious Colorado beers. And last, here are some great pieces of writing from women who didn't totally fuck this one up: Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya at The AV Club Jonita Davis at Black Girl Nerds Kayti Burke at Den of Geeks If you know of others, please share them below. We'll update this post and share on Twitter. And this post is and will remain public. So, um.... enjoy the episode? Love, Allison, Julie, and Janine (and Catie and Ruth!)
