"American Primeval" is an American Western television miniseries created and written by Mark L. Smith and directed by Peter Berg. Starring Taylor Kitsch, Betty Gilpin, Dane DeHaan, Jai Courtney, and Shea Whigham, the series is set in 1857 during the Utah War and received positive reviews when it premiered earlier this year in January. Berg was kind enough to spend some time speaking with us about his work on the series, which you can listen to below. Please be sure to check out the series, which is now available to stream in full on Netflix. Thank you, and enjoy! Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on... This week, we say goodbye to one of the greats, as a film franchise that has consistently brought the goods over the last three decades bids a fond farewell in what we trust is its last installment. Yes, it's 2025's Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Angela Bassett, Rolf Saxon, Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman, Greg Tarzan Daniels, Shea Whigham, Hannah Waddingham, Katy O'Brian and Tramell Tillman. Two years after we did it the first time with Dead Reckoning: Part One, we are once again opening up the pearly gates of the ADHD-DVD Canon and letting a new Mission: Impossible waltz right in while it's still in theaters. No surprise of course if you've listened to even one episode of this show as we find a way to shoehorn this franchise into seemingly every conversation, and despite the mixed reviews for this movie (just like Dead Reckoning), would you believe that we loved it? The stunts remain exceptional, with two of the absolute best sequences the series has ever staged. It may spend a bit too much time in the early-going looking back at the history of the franchise, but frankly these films have earned the right to do that. They are good enough, it is a history worth celebrating. And we've got an hour+ of thoughts breaking it all down, and we close it out with our updated M:I Power Rankings. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening along to our discussion, and we highly recommend that you do, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is of course available in theaters the world over at the time of publication, and is likely about five months from being permanently streamable on Paramount+, if we had to guess. No other films discussed this week, barring brief digressions here and there. We're laser focussed on just this movie, we'll do a full catch-up of all the theatrical outings we've had next time we get together. Who knows when that will be, or what movie we'll be discussing, but watch this space for more. We hope it's not too long from now, and don't worry, we haven't forgotten about The Accountant 2. We've just been busy. Until next time, we'll see you at the movies!!

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and continuing where "Dead Reckoning" left off, with one of the largest production budgets in history, the longest runtime of the franchise, and as the cumulative eighth film in a nearly thirty-year franchise, this is by far the biggest "Mission: Impossible" film to date. But does bigger always mean better? Please tune in as we discuss the story, character arcs, set pieces, stunts, craftsmanship, the franchise's future, its awards season chances, and more in our SPOILER-FILLED review. Send us a textFlashing back to episode #72 of Fabulous Film & Friends way back in 2023, we covered Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 and so we here on FFF felt duty bound to our fans to give our take on its follow up and what could very possibly be the final sequel to the entire M:I franchise, 2025's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Henry Czerny and Angela Bassett. Keeping continuity, my guests this week are returnees from the 2023 podcast, my blockbuster crew David Johnson, DMD and Burton Brown. Does anyone remember what happened in Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1? Here's a callback to my synopsis from that podcast:Ethan Hunt and his team of Mission Impossiblers have to go rogue yet again to stop the world from yada yada yada. Same old crap megalomaniac with a weapon this time it's AI. Or something. Esai Morales is involved. I fell asleep twice so I didn't quite catch the relationship between the AI and Morales' Gabriel character. This movie seemed like more of the same old same old. But as a Tom Cruise running movie, it's a masterpiece, reaching an operatic Death in Venice level of running sophistication. So how does 2025's big follow up differ? This time Ethan Hunt and his rag tag team of crack superspies have to stop the AI Entity from blowing up the world as well as Gabriel from trying to harness its unbelievable power. Yet, instead of running extravaganza, we are treated to the biggest boldest, hands down, accept no substitutes granddaddy of all info dump and flashback movies. Is it the best, the worst or somewhere in the middle of the series?Find out! Watch the video podcast on Youtube:https://youtu.be/dZfi-Cr8v20
This week, the boys pull up their dacks, lace up their blunnies, pull over their cardies, eat a bikkie, grab a tinny, and lob in for the Ridgy Didge himself, Baz Luhrmann's first feature film, “Strictly Ballroom”. After Jeff gives a quick mini-review of “Mission: Impossible— The Final Reckoning”, our native Aussie and gutless wonder, Dave, knackered from a good hissy at his lappy, guides us through this absolute hooley dooley.
Here we are! Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt for his final(?) adventure with his IMF crew. Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise's latest team up - Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning - has now arrived in theaters, and is, of course, the second part of the Dead Reckoning saga of this franchise. As I've said before, Mission: Impossible is probably my favorite movie franchise of all-time. That answer has likely come about due to a number of my other favorite franchises diluting themselves over the last number of years, but Tom Cruise just knows how to deliver a kick-ass time at the movies. He's done so again, and again, and again, so consistently over the last decade, even outside the Mission franchise. That being said, Dead Reckoning was an interesting specimen. I loved it on first watch but that movie did not do very well at the box office, which was extra surprising considering it was riding the tremendous wave of Top Gun: Maverick's success the year prior. On successive rewatches, I myself have grown to have a number of issues with that movie but still find it to be an incredibly satisfying action movie. It's certainly still better than most other action movies you've seen in theaters since that film, largely because of Tom Cruise's endless dedication to risk his life... for our entertainment of all things. But, can Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning overcome the story shortcomings of its predecessor to close out Tom Cruise's run as Ethan Hunt with his most memorable ride yet? Find out in this SPOILER-FREE review!Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning:Directed by: Christopher McQuarrieWritten by: Christopher McQuarrie & Erik JendresenBased on the television series created by: Bruce GellerProduced by: Tom Cruise, Christopher McQuarrieExecutive Producers: David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Chris BrockMusic by: Max Aruj, Alfie GodfreyCinematography by: Fraser TaggartEdited by: Eddie HamiltonCasting by: Mindy MarinProduction Design by: Gary FreemanCostume Design by: Jill TaylorCast: Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Mariela Garriga, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Tramell Tillman, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell and Angela BassettSynopsis: Ethan Hunt and the IMF team continue their search for the terrifying AI known as the Entity — which has infiltrated intelligence networks all over the globe — with the world's governments and a mysterious ghost from Ethan's past on their trail. Joined by new allies and armed with the means to shut the Entity down for good, Hunt is in a race against time to prevent the world as we know it from changing forever.

This week, we're breaking our hiatus to break from our format, as we are not breaking down a film this week so much as hyping one up, as we get ready for the movie event of the summer by over-analyzing the final trailer for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. If you're a long-time listener or even someone who's only heard a few episodes you probably know that the Mission: Impossible movies are a permanent hyper-fixation around here, so we had to get together to discuss a preview loaded wall-to-wall with That Guy character actors, including the return of our beloved boy Shea Whigham, and even that one guy from the first movie who had to go have diarrhea. Everyone is here! Plus: J Mo's got a theatrical field report having been out to the VIFF premiere of the pro wrestling biopic Queen of the Ring that included a live Q&A with the film's director and star, and as usual we catch up on what's been filling our Letterboxd. Other works discussed on this episode include Kimi, Rushmore, The Accountant, The Pitt, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Avatar: The Way of Water, Aquaman, Campfire Tales, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, The Twister: Caught in the Storm, Twisters, Tenet, Deja Vu, The Iron Claw, Flow, The Wild Robot, Rope, Stranger Than Fiction and Terminator: Salvation. Not sure when we'll back together again, but we can say when we do we will be discussing Warren Beatty's 1990 comic book detective noir Dick Tracy, a movie that is literally never available to stream and may never be despite being produced and distributed by Disney. We've also got while-they're-in-theatres episodes planned over the next month for both The Accountant 2 and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, so look forward to those, and until then, we'll see you at the movies!!
Shea Whigham is an all-star actor with more credits to his name than we can mention. You may have seen him in Take Shelter, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, Boardwalk Empire, Lake George, The Righteous Gemstones, or Mission: Impossible–Dead Reckoning. Shea recently starred in the western miniseries American Primeval, alongside the incredible Betty Gilpin and Taylor Kitsch. The miniseries was created and written by Mark L. Smith and directed by Peter Berg. You can stream it right now on NETFLIX. Shea joins Feeling Seen to talk about American Primeval, his character Jim Bridger, and Robert DuVall's performance as Mac Sledge in the 1983 drama Tender Mercies. Plus, words of wisdom by Meryl Streep and praise for the eternal talent of Ellen Barkin. Then Jordan honors the legacy of actress Michelle Tratchtenberg, who recently passed at the age of 39. Feeling Seen is hosted by Jordan Crucchiola and is a production Maximum Fun. Need more Feeling Seen? Keep up with the show on Instagram and Bluesky.

Tune in as filmmaker Joshua R. Pangborn (Sidekick Productions) returns to the podcast for a breakdown of Marvel's Agent Carter, the two-season MCU TV show that premiered in 2015 and follows secret agent Peggy Carter as she embarks on espionage missions with the help of a few allies while wrestling with the daily challenges and misogyny that come with living as a single woman in the 1940s. A disability depiction that's handled respectfully enough for the mid-2010s, a character's military backstory sending Arthur into a rant, and a non-irritating usage of the love triangle trope comprise a few of this episode's talking points. This week, Megan and Dave check out writer-director Jac Cron's CHESTNUT (2:19), a low-key (very low-key) queer drama about Annie (Natalia Dyer), who, after graduating college in Philadelphia, falls into a love triangle with Tyler (Rachel Keller) and her maybe-boyfriend Danny (Danny Ramirez). But is Tyler in love with Annie? Or Danny? And is Danny really into Annie? Or Tyler? We have an animated discussion about this one. Then Evan joins Megan and Dave to talk about FANCY DANCE (23:29), Erica Tremblay's Indigenous drama starring Lily Gladstone as Jax, a Seneca-Cayuga woman searching for her missing sister while caring for her niece, Roki (Isabel DeRoy-Olson). Throw into it Jax's estranged father (Shea Whigham), an impromptu road trip to a powwow, and the missing-persons investigation for Jax's sister and it's an emotional 92 minutes. We all liked this one (one of us loved it). Over on Patreon, we watched THE FIRST OMEN, Arkasha Stevenson's horror prequel starring Nell Tiger Free, so check it out!

EILEEN is a new Hitchcockian thriller starring Thomasin McKenzie, Anne Hathaway and Shea Whigham about a woman's friendship with a new co-worker at the prison facility she works at that takes a sinister turn. The movie shocks and awes featuring a great two-hander from the two female leads. Though this review is being released on the day Eileen releases in theaters, Zach got to catch it at the Montclair Film Festival last month. Director: William Oldroyd Writers: Luke Goebel, Ottessa Moshfegh Starring: Thomasin McKenzie, Shea Whigham, Anne Hathaway, Sam Nivola Runtime: 1 Hour 37 Minutes Synopsis: A woman's friendship with a new co-worker at the prison facility where she works takes a sinister turn. Who doesn't love a "leave them crazy white women alone" film? Eileen is a great film that uses the alway fantastic Anne Hathaway perfectly by pairing her up with Thomasin McKenzie who does a great dead-face, on the cusp of crazy (right about to head over the deep end) young woman looking to impress. We're basking in love for Shea Whigham as we're joined by Jay Cluitt (Deep Blue Sea: The Podcast) to talk about Fast & Furious! We learn about Jay's rocky history with the franchise -- and not the Maivia kind -- before discussing a few potential franchise crossovers and diving into more CrAzY cReDiTs! We talk about how different Fast & Furious is from the version of this movie that would release today, whether Dom has any sense of what a kilometer is, and why Letty is calling everyone "bubba." We discuss sexy gasoline parties, Brian's sad car sandwich, and the owner of Dom's new safehouse. We wonder if Brian feels "missing" from the new movies and list the (very few) non-cars in this movie. Jay asks if people like Gal Gadot in these movies and proposes a new order for us to cover these movies. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. Michael Begler is showrunner, writer, and executive producer of Perry Mason, which debuted as HBO's most-watched series in nearly two years upon its premiere in June 2020. The critically-acclaimed show stars Emmy-winner Matthew Rhys, Juliet Rylance, Katherine Waterston, Hope Davis. In the second season of the Emmy-nominated series, the scion of a powerful oil family is brutally murdered. Power, social justice, immigration, LGBTQ rights, and what it truly means to be guilty, are among the issues raised by the series. Begler's previous series include the Peabody Award-winning The Knick, starring Clive Owen, directed by Steven Soderbergh, writing/producing credits also include comedy series The Tony Danza Show, The Jeff Foxworthy Show and the film Big Miracle starring Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski.“Storytelling is our oldest art form. We can't silence the arts and those voices because if we do, we lose something that is so crucial to who we are just as human beings. We want to tell stories. We want to express things. For example, I cannot draw. And one day the teacher wanted us to do negative space drawings. And I said, ‘What is that?; And they explained that it's looking at what's around the object and not the object. And it clicked, and it made me look at things from a whole different perspective. And you know, what? That became where I was most successful. And so for me, there's are an infinite number of ways to tell a story that you never run out of ideas, that you can always find another road, another way to look at something. That's probably one of the key elements to my career.”www.imdb.com/title/tt2077823www.instagram.com/perrymasonhbowww.imdb.com/name/nm0066764www.creativeprocess.infowww.oneplanetpodcast.orgIG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcast
