Who's ready for another round? Having now seen The Witcher's second animated movie, we thought it would be fun to revisit its first one, 2021's Nightmare of the Wolf—and we brought new viewer Producer Sean along for the ride! How does this Vesemir-starring prequel hold up four years and two show seasons later? Does it still feel like The Witcher now that we've gotten a better feel for the franchise? And what's up with Geralt's hair? (Sadly, we don't yet have an answer for that last one.) Plus, to accompany this second viewing, Sean's made an all-new whiskey pairing…with a twist. Clean W by CleanCo is the first non-alcoholic whiskey we've sampled on the podcast, though if you think going the zero-proof route means we're any less unhinged, think again. The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
Send us a textWhat does it truly mean to live with a character? Matt Drago, the breakout star of "Somewhere in Montana," takes us deep into the transformative journey of method acting in this candid conversation about artistic sacrifice and unexpected opportunity.Drago shares the remarkable story behind landing his "role of a lifetime" opposite Graham McTavish and Michelle Hurd—a full circle moment that began when he helped another struggling artist years earlier. With refreshing vulnerability, he details his approach to character immersion: losing 25 pounds, creating character journals, and assembling cross-genre playlists that help him emotionally align with his roles. "When you've got a cast and crew like we had on Somewhere in Montana, and you just get the space to live and breathe in the character for a long amount of time, it's a very joyful experience," Drago reflects. The conversation reveals how Drago's lifelong martial arts practice (Okinawan Shorin-ryu) provides the disciplined foundation for his acting work. This parallel path helps him maintain centeredness during career uncertainties and the emotional roller coaster of pursuing acting without industry connections. His journey from closing New York City bars at 4 AM to filming pivotal scenes in Montana barns illustrates the persistence required when following artistic dreams.Perhaps most moving are Drago's reflections on artistic mentorship and the family formed during production. From breakfast conversations with McTavish to sunset heart-to-hearts with Hurd, these relationships transcended the project itself. "Matt, you are an actor, don't forget that," Hurd told him in a moment of doubt—words that continue to sustain him. His gratitude extends equally to the crews who transform creative visions into reality: "Crews are what make films great."Ready to discover the magic of "Somewhere in Montana" and the actor bringing Fabian to life?

Scottish actor Graham McTavish has been calling New Zealand home for over a decade now, moving over back in 2011. He's well known for his roles in Outlander, the Witcher, House of the Dragon, and of course, playing Dwalin in the Hobbit series. However, McTavish doesn't limit himself to fiction as he and Sam Heughan return for a second season of Men in Kilts. This time instead of their native Scotland, they're taking a trip across New Zealand. McTavish told Mike Hosking that he'd love to do another season, joking with the Newstalk ZB host that considering the last one, the show is probably what he'll die doing. After each season the pair write a book about their adventure, complete with pictures. This season's ‘Clanlands in New Zealand: Kiwis, Kilts, and an Adventure Down Under' was released in November. “I've learned so much in, you know, the travelling that we did, my own research for the book,” he told Hosking. “That's the real delight for me.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

That sounds like it'll go off without a hitch! They're joined by a colorful cast of characters, including the world's most annoying SAS commando, a brutally sadistic Burmese military commander and an over-the-hill actor/director who seems totally out of his depth with the thematic material he's working with. Is this ultra-grim, ultra-violent sequel to an ‘80s action icon the Greatest Movie Ever Made? Stay tuned to find out! Rambo (2008) is directed by Sylvester Stallone and stars Sylvester Stallone, Julie Benz, Matthew Marsden, Graham McTavish and Reynaldo Gallegos. Music: “Fractals” by Kyle Casey and White Bat Audio

Phoenix is an inferno and Ivy has mended her ways so she won't go to Hell. Which includes visiting Terri in Phoenix prior to November.Whiskey picks (yes, we're back on the whiskey):Ivy - Hidden Barn. Has a kick. Taste it neat, but then cut it with some ice. 112 proof. Turns out Ivy witnessed or maybe influenced some creative tasting notes that Graham McTavish came up with on Bourbon With Friends.Terri - Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye. 112 proof for 112 degrees outside. But Terri mixed with ginger ale.Megan - water. But she did sample a 1968 Crown Royal bottle that she describes as GOLD.Terri might send some Sassenachs in search of Gregarious Goat down in Texas. We know they'll all be in Total Wine stores anyway. Was Mrs. Raven's storyline just an excuse for Claire to wander off and get captured? That animal pen really wasn't doing any sort of confinement work at all. Claire had the whole run of the fort. Terri wants Jamie's hair to be loose for once. Ivy praises the wigs this year. Why is the show including storylines that are just going to end within one episode anyway? Walter Woodcock's story could have been skipped and it probably wouldn't make any difference. The ax murdering couple, same thing.A brief review of Richardson and his motives.Ivy is backing Rob Cameron's chutzpah inviting himself to dinner at Roger & Bri's house.Megan saw the best chemistry in the episode: it was between Roger & Rob.It definitely wasn't there between Ian & Rachel this week.Jamie & Claire were glamping in that humongous tent. Jamie's wig and monologue were both amazing.Ivy wants an apology for Jemmy, because he was right all along about the Nuckelavee.Predictions for the mid-season cliffhanger. Please rate us on your podcast platform!
