In episode 16, I interview William Grazione in a Q & A format. We go over the concept of flexible dieting, reverse dieting, and other tactics to ensure a successful fat loss and post fat loss phase. We also touch on coaching red flags, keys to a healthy lifestyle, and reasons for coaching success. Reach Will on IG @william_grazione or www.metabolicevolution.com. Will’s Bio: I am William Grazione, Husband, father of 4, physique coach, Pro natural bodybuilder, with a B.S. in Exercise Science. I live in Lutz, Florida with my beautiful wife Tanya who also shares a passion for fitness and being a birth doula. I started playing competitive sports at 12 years old, I excelled in football. After high school I received an athletic scholarship and played football for Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma for a few years until injuries would plague me. After my third knee injury I decided it was time to give up playing football, and continue on with the passion that I truly loved which was weight lifting. Closing on my senior year in college I became interested in competing in bodybuilding. At the time I had no idea Natural Bodybuilding even existed. Eager to learn I quickly started reading more books based on sport performance, hypertrophy, metabolism, and strength and conditioning. I also began researching the web, this was when I stumbled upon Layne Norton and his series on Bodybuilding.com "Life of a Natural Pro" I was then more eager than ever to increase my knowledge. After my final semester at Bacone I moved back home to Saint Petersburg, Florida and would start preparing for my first natural bodybuilding competition. I chose the 2010 OCB Southeast States promoted by Nicole Weeks, IFPA & NGA Figure Pro. During my contest prep I utilized the knowledge I had acquired to that point in academia as well as my own research of evidence based coaching practices. After dieting for 12 weeks I would go on to win the open short class and the overall at my first bodybuilding competition. A year later after a series of metabolic restoration, my girlfriend Tanya and I had decided to hire Dr. Norton for our 2012 season and would go on to achieve our best physiques to date. We have since become great friends Layne and I look forward to helping Dr. Norton change the fitness industry one client at a time. During my first two seasons as a bodybuilder I became confident in guiding others around me that had aspirations of competing in physique contests or just gaining the education they needed to end their weight gain issues. My knowledge continued to blossom as I became infatuated with learning more regarding science and metabolism. As I continuously helped more people, coaching become my passion, and having the ability to guide so many over the last 10 years has been an abolsute blessing. Metabolic Evolution believes in the evidence based nutritional sciences, overall long term health, nutrition protocols, intricacies of weight training. Join me as we help change the fitness Industry!
Today is another Coaching Roundtable where I sit down with two other established coaches and discuss various common (and misunderstood) topics that arise inside the training and nutrition coaching space. In this episode we have Christopher Barakat; Bodybuilder, Prep Coach, Owner of Competitive Breed, and Graduate of the Exercise and Nutritional Science Masters Program at University of Tampa, as well as a currently teaching professor and published scientist in the Human Performance Lab. We also have William Grazione; Pro Natural Bodybuilder, Coach, Bachelors of Exercise Science, and owner of Metabolic Evolution. Be sure to screenshot the show, post it on your IG story and tag myself @cody.boomboom, Chris @christopher.barakat, and Will @william_grazione TOPICS DISCUSSED: TRAINING: Opinions on the volume research that has been published in the last 1-2 years (is more really always better?) Effort and intent… how important is mind muscle connection, the individual's effort inside of each rep, focus, etc. Does it matter or is it all about volume? Training to failure - is there a time for it? Or should we avoid it completely? Program hopping… how long should someone stick to the same movements? And does this change between compounds vs. accessory lifts? Changes in training during a fat loss vs. a hypertrophy phase? And what's the transition look like between one phase to the next? NUTRITION: Defining nutritional periodization in the aesthetic world (what's the meaning, to you, but also the application inside your coaching) Thoughts on the current state of reverse dieting and metabolic adaptation (these two things have blown up, some great info and some horrid info - what's your take?) Ultra high carb diets… great for retaining muscle mass on a cut and for building new tissue in off season? Or a hormonal crash course? When and how to add refeeds and diet breaks Applying the research (what to know, look out for, and consider before taking a study and implementing it without reason) ---- Apply For Coaching: bit.ly/Coaching-App Get Your Free Copy of The Nutrition Hierarchy, HERE Learn How We Coach: Read This Case Study Article Top 4 Episodes: - Nutritional Periodization - Nutrition FAQ - Training FAQ - My Story ---- You can get access to ALL of our content in one place, now: www.boomboomperformance.com/links Join The Boom Boom Elite (BBP's Membership Site) to receive exclusive content and interviews, monthly training programs, bonus eBooks, the private coaching forum, and more by visiting https://boomboomperformance.com/elite ASK BOOM-BOOM YOUR QUESTION HERE! : www.boomboomperformance.com/podcast Check out all of our e-books by visiting https://www.boomboomperformance.com/products Boom Boom Performance Coaching Info: http://boomboomperformance.com/online-coaching Social Links: Blog – www.boomboomperformance.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/boomboomperformance/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/cody.boomboom/ YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/BoomBoomPerformance Email – info@boomboomperformance.com
