When your cat gets zapped by God through the Internet, what do you do? Obviously you start a youtube channel. Vadim’s been at it for almost nine years, and this “season” will be the finale of Creationist Cat. He does promise that CC will be part of his youtube presence going forward. Over the years as the atheist community did what the atheist community did, his focus moved away from religion and turned to the alarming alt-right/antifeminist/anti-SJW trend that made most people run screaming from the platform. Vadim’s videos are smart, hilarious and his editing skills are top notch. We talked about his start on youtube, why he’s moved away from atheist content, his appearance at 2018’s Mythicist Milwaukee conference, and being called a whiny little fungus on Twitter. I bring back The Faithless Feminist Karen Garst. You knew I wouldn't be able to fight the urge to talk about the 2018 Mythicist Milwaukee conference. I hope they call it something else next year. Karen was on stage this year with Karen Straughan and Melissa Chen so we'll talk about the "evolution" of the conference from her POV and what was it like being on the stage. Plus we'll talk about her new book Women v Religion. Mythicist Milwaukee researches and educates the freethought community about the parallels between religion and mythology, introducing the idea that many figures of antiquity – including pagan gods and major biblical characters – are myths. Guest Sean Fracek (President & Co-founder Podcast Producer & Chair of Special Events of Mythicist Milwaukee) and Joe Magestro (Board Member, Project Manager of Mythicist Milwaukee) join us to share their perspective with us on issues related to Atheism and tales of past guest we have had on the podcast. This is Part I of a 2 Part episode, Part II will be released on Tuesday July 17, 2017 on the Mythicist Milwaukee's YouTube Channel.
Mythicist Milwaukee Discusses Mythcon V Launch
Chrisiousity is a left-leaning youtuber which isn’t quite as rare as you might think. Her recent video series on Mythicist Milwaukee explains the rise of the alt-right sympathizers pretty well. You’re going to learn about feminism through the lens of I Dream of Jeannie, a smart move as watchers don’t have an emotional attachment so her points are well made. She’s been dogpiled on Twitter and the subject of a few response videos, but keeps on trucking and we are better for it. Welcome to everyone's favorite obscure SJW podcast, The Podunk Polymath Podcast! This week in the pre-ramble, I talk about how Southerners shop when there is any snow predicted (spoiler : they are fucking maniacs)! I also talk briefly about Our Orange Overlord's comments about 'shithole' countries, and I then wonder out loud if we have been sucked into an alternate universe through a wormhole. On the palaver, I speak with Kristi Winters. We talk about her YouTube channel, namely its conception, content, and critics. Her critics are of the alt-right, Sargon loving variety, so you can just imagine the sort of lovely comments she receives. We talk about how she deals with the trolls, and how she copes mentally with the abuse. We also discuss Mythicist Milwaukee and her role in exposing the true intent of the organizers. Finally, we talk about Skepticon and how this is an example of a convention that us SJW types should be focusing on organizing. We had a great discussion, and I think you y'all will enjoy it. This week Buck talks to the guys from Mythicist Milwaukee about a topic that stopped being relevant 2 months ago. A few months ago the guys and their skeptics conference found themselves at the wrong end of an angry mob. We talk about the controversy, urine, free speech and future plans. It's time once again for the best podcast you've never heard of, The Podunk Polymath Podcast! This week in the pre-ramble I read new iTunes reviews, though one douchepickle decided to give me a one-star review. Sad! I then go on an angry rant about the latest sexual harassment allegations against Louis CK, Al Franken and Roy Moore. I am so fed up with these guys doing this shit. It's time for men to start calling out other men on this bullshit fucking behavior. This is the only way to get this shit to stop. On the palaver I speak with activist and knitter Monette Richards. We talk about her work at Secular Woman and CFI of Northeast Ohio. We also talk about the workshops she gave at Skepticon, one and half of which I attended! We discussed other topics such as Mythicist Milwaukee, YouTube atheists, the #metoo campaign, and much more. Monette was a pleasure to talk to, and she is passionate about her work, which really comes through in the interview. She is also funny and down to earth, and I am glad I got to meet her in person at Skepticon! I think y'all will enjoy our conversation. Music by Dot Dot Dash, cdbaby.com/cd/dotdotdash
Welcome to another exciting edition of The Triple Po! This week in the pre-ramble, I talk briefly about another mass shooting, this time at a small church in a small town in Texas. I opine about how we still won't get gun control laws, and the futility of believing in a God that allows these incidents to happen. I also briefly talk about Trump's new tax plan and how it's royally screwing over the middle class. On the palaver, I speak to my former archnemesis Dan Arel. We talk about our feud and how it occurred, as well as subjects such as Nazi punching and antifa, with a little Mythicist Milwaukee kvetching thrown in. We still have disagreements on certain tactics, and I let him know this, but I think we both felt like this was a productive and worthwhile exchange. I hope y'all agree. This Episode Thomas Smith joins me to discuss wth happened at Secular conference Mythicist Milwaukee, where he was invited to interview Youtuber Sargon of Akkad. If you've been following the drama, then you know how divisive and controversial it's been. It's a boiling-over of some underlying problems we've been seeing in movement atheism for a while. Here's a link to his episode on the topic: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/atheistically-speaking/e/51705112?autoplay=true ---- If you enjoy the show please consider supporting via Patreon. It's entirely listener funded, and wouldn't be possible without you.

I guess we aren't too happy over some of the latest nonsense we have found in the last few weeks. Harvey Weinstein and Mythicist Milwaukee dominate the conversations this episode, and it's difficult to make light of consistent exploitation and victimization. The Triple Po has returned from a one week hiatus. I had a lot going on, so I apologize, but now I am back! On the pre-ramble, I talk about my experience at Oktoberfest in Nashville with friend and former guest William and their boyfriend Dan. We had a great time drinking beer, as well as seeing street preachers and checking out the various and sundry tents selling their wares. I also talk about something a little less cheery, that being a White Supremacist protest that is coming up in Shelbyville, TN, on October 28th, and perhaps one in Murfreesboro. There has already been a counterprotest that has emerged, and I will be going to it. We have to show these assholes that we're not going to stand by and let them spew their hate unchallenged. On the palaver, I speak to one of my favorite people, Mandisa Thomas, who most of y'all probably already know as the founder and president of Black Nonbelievers Inc. We talk about her organization and how it was founded. We also talk about the need for allies to step up and get involved. Another subject we hit on is some of the negative feedback she has gotten from some of those in the Black community, including a confrontation at a conference where someone verbally attacked her. She also gives a statement regarding the travesty at Mythicist Milwaukee. There are plenty of other things that we discuss but you will have to listen to find out! Mandisa definitely walks the walk, and she is the closest things I have to a hero. Music by Dot Dot Dash, cdbaby.com/cd/dotdotdash

On this episode, we jump right in to adding an incredible well of depth to the character of Joseph Smith by reading a number of excerpts from William Morain’s “The Sword of Laban, Joseph Smith and the Dissociated Mind”. The excruciating pain from his childhood leg surgery coupled with the death of his eldest brother in his late teens had significant impacts on Jo’s psyche, baggage he would carry for the rest of his life. Maybe we can understand the inner-workings of a broken mind by viewing decisions Jo made through child’s eyes. Jo calls the Quorum of the Twelve home from their mission in England but permits Parley P. Pratt (P-cubed) to tarry a bit longer to continue his publishing duties with the Liverpool Book of Mormon and the Millennial Star. The economic outlook for Nauvoo looked good on the surface at the end of 1840, but the whole thing was built on credit and there was a jobs vacuum affecting every Mormon who chose to settle roundabout. After that we invite recurring correspondent, Ryan McKnight, for a Mormon Leaks Minute before dealing with some listener feedback. On this episode, we try to gain new perspective. John Bennett addresses the brethren during the October 1840 conference to gain access to the in-group of trusted Mormon leaders with a new rule requiring 2 or 3 witnesses to any crime. How would this affect polygamy as it begins to lurk under the surface of Nauvoo? We bring on a very special guest to discuss the plight of women’s rights in the 19th-century and how having a child out of wedlock essentially condemned single mothers to a life of misery and hardship. On this episode, we begin with a wrap up of the live God Awful Movies in Chicago and talking about everything the atheist/skeptical community has to offer. After that we jump into a discussion about the Mormon refugee crisis going on in mid-October 1838 in Missouri. Jo had to feed the flock and the only way to do so was through raiding and pillaging the Daviess County locals. We read a warm letter exchange between people on opposing sides of the conflict along with a large excerpt from Benjamin Johnson, the first-hand recounting from a Mormon raiding party participant. After that we move on to part 2 of a discussion with Brian and Sean of Mythicist Milwaukee; be sure to check their podcast feed for part 1!
