Pastor Darius welcomes guests Logan and Josh on the In the Room podcast to continue a series on why Jesus loves the church, highlighting Pastor Troy's message about the power of being planted in God's house (Psalm 92:13) rather than drifting or being led by offense and feelings. Logan shares how disconnecting from church led to spiritual decline and how community and accountability helped him, while Josh describes the church's support during a difficult pregnancy when they weren't sure their son Jonas would live. They discuss isolation, the difference between attending church and being planted through serving and ownership, and why people leave due to hurt, relationships, and unwillingness to be held accountable. The episode ends with how to be ready as Christ's bride, sharing the gospel, treating Jesus as holy, and a prayer of salvation.
In Acts 17, Pastor Troy explores Paul and Silas' ministry in Thessalonica and Berea, emphasizing the power of faithfully proclaiming Jesus through the Scriptures. Paul reasoned from God's Word, explained how Jesus fulfilled God's promises, and remained steadfast despite opposition and persecution. The message highlights the example of the Bereans, who eagerly received the Word while carefully examining the Scriptures daily to discern truth. Pastor Troy encourages believers to pursue both eagerness and discernment, reminding us that lasting impact comes not from chasing influence but from faithfully exalting Christ and grounding our lives in God's Word.
On this episode of the In the Room podcast, Jonah, Naomi and Braden discuss Pastor Troy's “Love the Church” message about “don't be the missing piece,” comparing the church to a puzzle where missing pieces stand out and reminding listeners that everyone has a unique function in the body of Christ. They talk about moving from merely attending church to belonging, serving, and finding purpose through community, including ways the church helps combat isolation—especially in younger generations impacted by social media. The conversation highlights accountability and loving correction, referencing Proverbs 27:17 about iron sharpening iron, and emphasizes generational impact through older believers pouring into younger ones.

Reed, Brianna, and Pastor Billy recap Pastor Troy's message on why Jesus loves the church and why believers should too, describing the church as God's plan for the earth where truth is proclaimed, lives are changed, and darkness is pushed back. They discuss what makes church different from a typical social gathering, share personal moments when church felt like home through worship, support during hardship, and serving, and encourage commitment to a local church rather than isolation. The conversation addresses online church as a tool to connect people but emphasizes in-person community, discipleship, and serving through ministries as the bridge from consuming content to real connection.
On this episode of the In the Room podcast, Jonah is joined by Maddie and Amaya to discuss Pastor Troy's new sermon series, Love the Church, beginning with “Why Jesus Loves the Church.” They share a tornado story about a man cleaning his damaged church because “the church is what built my life,” and reflect on the church as a hospital for hurting people and an ark for salvation. They highlight quotes including A.W. Tozer's “a people filled with God” and Charles Spurgeon's “the dearest place to Jesus,” discuss how church becomes family through showing up for others, and warn that isolation makes people spiritually vulnerable. The group encourages consistent gathering, serving, and community, shares personal testimonies of loneliness met by church support.
In this message from Pastor Troy, he teaches about God as “the God of all hope,” sharing how POW survivors in World War II—including a Bataan Death March survivor—observed that those who held onto belief in God and hope survived at higher rates, echoing accounts like Viktor Frankl's about the collapse of the human spirit when hope is lost. Using Romans 15:13, he explains that biblical hope is not wishful thinking but confident expectation grounded in God's unchanging character and promises, and that hope anchors the soul (Hebrews 6:19) through every kind of storm. He gives practical ways to grow hope—feed on Scripture, remember past victories, and stay around hope-filled people—illustrating with David, Abraham, Joseph, Jeremiah, and Paul's shipwreck in Acts 27.

Pastor Troy launches a new series, “Why Jesus Loves the Church?”, while honoring mothers on Mother's Day with a message from Sally Green. Sally shares her experience of waiting 13 years for children, warning not to “waste the waiting,” rejecting lies about identity, and encouraging trust in God through daily prayer and the Word, including Galatians 6:9. She highlights motherhood beyond biology, the power of correction and forgiveness, and Mary's servant-hearted example. Pastor Troy teaches that the church is God's people, unstoppable even under persecution, and that Jesus loves the church because He purchased it with His blood, calling believers to value, unite, and belong to the church.
Pastor Troy taught from Acts 15, showing how the early church gathered to address a major question: whether Gentile believers needed to follow Jewish law to be saved. He explained that false teachers were adding requirements to the gospel, saying “Jesus plus works” instead of salvation by grace alone through faith alone. Peter responded by affirming that both Jews and Gentiles are saved the same way - through faith in Christ and the cleansing work of the Holy Spirit. James confirmed this by pointing to Scripture, showing that the inclusion of the Gentiles was always part of God's plan. The council ultimately agreed that salvation is by grace alone, not human effort or religious rule-keeping. However, they also encouraged Gentile believers to live in ways that promoted unity and avoided unnecessary offense to Jewish believers. The sermon emphasized that grace must both be defended as sufficient in Christ and displayed in how Christians love and live with one another.

Pastor Troy's message challenges listeners to reject complaining and gratitude-less “first-world problems,” citing Philippians 2:12–15 and examples from older generations who endured the Depression and WWII rationing without feeling entitled to complain. The message then addresses seasonal transition and warns against losing spiritual focus during summer routines and vacations, using the story of a lighthouse keeper who became distracted and ran out of oil, and a traveler who missed his flight while scrolling on his phone. Key points include anchoring to what never changes (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8; Hebrews 6:19), not letting temporary change create permanent drift (Hebrews 2:1), and staying focused on eternal things (Colossians 3:2).
Pastor Troy teaches on sowing and reaping as a generational principle, urging listeners to stop “prizing and protecting dysfunction” and to use their votes as a biblical responsibility, citing Proverbs 29:2 and noting early voting begins May 5. He calls Christians to engage government as the conscience of a nation, vote based on God's Word, and support consistent, qualified leaders.. He shares Ernie and Yolanda Lopez's testimony of decades of faithful giving, serving, patience, and faith leading to acquiring 430+ acres debt-free and launching a bird business, emphasizing that small seeds multiply into far-reaching impact. The message concludes with a salvation invitation and prayer.
Pastor Troy continues our The Way of Jesus series with "Salt & Light" Many of us were taught to think of faith as something purely personal—"my relationship with Jesus." But the good news of the Kingdom was never meant to stay private. Pastor Troy highlights the importance of gospel conviction, Christian perseverance, and faith under trial, drawing from Acts 14 to show how Paul and Barnabas remained bold despite opposition, persecution, and suffering. He emphasizes that tribulation in the Christian life is not abnormal but part of God's plan, requiring believers to stand firm in biblical truth and unwavering faith. The message also warns against both fear of rejection and the danger of seeking human approval, calling Christians to pursue God-centered living and spiritual endurance. Ultimately, it encourages believers to develop strong Christian convictions rooted in Jesus Christ in order to faithfully navigate hardship and advance the gospel.

Pastor Tim hosts Reed and Naomi on the In the Room podcast to discuss Pastor Troy's sermon on sowing and reaping, focusing on how God's Word planted in us produces a greater harvest meant to overflow to others. Using Galatians 6:7, Luke 6:45, Proverbs 18:21, and Psalm 51:10, they emphasize that people are always sowing through words, thoughts, attitudes, and actions, and that the passage is both a warning and a promise. They contrast caution with intentionality, stress repentance when sowing “bad seed,” and highlight the lasting impact of words in families, workplaces, and self-talk. Practical steps include taking inventory of life-and-death speech, replacing harmful habits with life-giving words, using “breath prayers,” and creating daily action plans.
In this Church on the Move Roswell message on spiritual warfare, Pastor Troy teaches that faithful stewardship is a powerful and often overlooked frontline weapon against the enemy's plan to render believers ineffective through mismanagement of time, health, finances, relationships, focus, and calling. Defining stewardship as consistently managing what belongs to God, he explains that the enemy attacks what God entrusts to us, while faithful stewardship releases spiritual authority: faithfulness leads to trust, trust to authority, and authority to victory. Using scriptures including Luke 16, Matthew 25, John 10:10, and 1 Peter 5:8, he emphasizes God tests faithfulness in small things and increases what is well managed, grounded in the truth that God is the owner and we are managers.

Pastor Troy walks through Acts 13 as a turning point where the church shifts from gathering to actively sending. In Antioch, the Holy Spirit sets apart Barnabas and Saul through prayer and fasting, launching an intentional gospel mission. As they go, they encounter both eager belief and strong opposition. Paul proclaims Jesus as the fulfillment of God's promises and the only source of salvation. Though some reject the message, others respond with joy, showing the gospel's power to divide and transform. Through it all, God's mission advances, calling believers to faithful obedience in both success and hardship.

In this episode of the In The Room podcast, Josh, Pastor Darius and Jean discuss Pastor Troy's sermon on sowing and reaping, highlighting three main points: the seed determines the harvest, the harvest comes later than the seed, and the harvest is bigger than you think because God multiplies. They emphasize that people reap what they sow in every area of life—especially relationships—and that discipline and aligning “seeds” with desired outcomes matter. They also focus on the waiting period between sowing and reaping as a major test of faith, encouraging listeners not to quit when results aren't visible. The conversation stresses that God is the source and everything else is a resource.

Pastor Troy walks through Acts 12 as a powerful story of God's sovereignty unfolding through persecution, rescue, and judgment. Acts 12 begins with deep loss as James is killed and Peter is imprisoned, reminding us that following God does not mean avoiding suffering. With no worldly power, the church responds through earnest prayer, placing its trust fully in God. God then miraculously rescues Peter, even as the believers struggle to believe their prayers are being answered. In contrast, King Herod's pride leads to his sudden and humbling death, showing that human authority cannot stand against God. Through it all, God's Word continues to grow and multiply, calling us to trust His goodness and sovereignty even when outcomes don't make sense.

On the In The Room podcast, Jonah welcomes Logan and Pastor Billy and discuss Pastor Troy's new sermon series on reaping and sowing, emphasizing the law of causality: every cause has an effect and every effect has a cause. They reflect on how words, habits, and choices function as “seeds” that produce corresponding outcomes in relationships, work, health, and spiritual life, citing Galatians 6:7 and the idea that you can't sow disorder and expect order. They contrast harmful seeds like constant complaining and doom scrolling with planting peace through structure, God's Word, and gratitude. Logan shares reconciling with someone at the gym as a seed that influenced his younger brother, while Pastor Billy describes years of prayer leading to his prodigal stepson's transformation. Logan also recounts finding faith in Teen Challenge after a 2019 suicide attempt and arrest.

Pastor Troy's Easter message emphasizes that through the resurrection of Jesus, both life and death become a “win-win” for believers — living means fruitful service to Christ, while dying means being in His presence. He highlights how Paul's perspective reframes death not as an end, but as a transition into eternal life, removing fear and giving purpose to both living and dying. The message challenges cultural views of death, presenting it as a defeated enemy through Christ's victory, and calls listeners to place their faith in Jesus alone. Ultimately, the message invites a response of trust in the risen Christ, who transforms the meaning of life, death, and eternity.

Join us as Pastor Troy shares a special Good Friday message.
Pastor Troy's Good Friday message focused on the temptation to soften or move away from the true message of the cross. He explained that the cross is offensive because it confronts our pride and sin, and foolish in the eyes of the world, as seen in 1 Corinthians 1:18. It is also polarizing, dividing those who believe from those who do not, with no middle ground. The cross can feel scandalous and like a stumbling block because it offers salvation by grace alone, not by our own efforts.

On this episode of the In the Room podcast, Jonah is joined by Maddie and Amaya to discuss Pastor Troy's part four message, “There's Power in Prayer,” focusing on intercessory prayer as an act of love and a way to become more like Jesus, the ultimate intercessor. They talk about praying like it's all up to you while trusting God like it's all up to Him, recognizing when someone comes to mind as an invitation to pray, and how prayer matures when it moves from self-focused to praying for others—including enemies—by redirecting complaint and criticism into prayer. Thank you all for listening and have a blessed day!
Recorded in Atlanta during the Art Papers symposium: Fire Ecology Artist Antonio Darden joins Duncan MacKenzie and Brian Andrews in Atlanta, where the conversation opens with one of the most arresting images in Darden's recent work: an alien laid out on an autopsy table. What begins as a discussion of a strange installation quickly unfolds into a deeply personal exploration of grief, memory, and the ways artists translate trauma into form. Darden describes the work Last One Left, a project that emerged from a cascade of personal losses: the deaths of his mother, brother, and father, leaving him the final surviving member of his immediate family. The alien body becomes a surrogate figure, a way to approach unbearable realities obliquely. Humor, conspiracy culture, and pop imagery become tools for making painful subjects accessible without dulling their impact. As Darden explains, confronting audiences with a literal body can shut down reflection, but a grey alien opens a space where grief can be processed at a distance before it lands. The conversation moves through the complicated emotional landscape that shaped these works: family histories stretching from Trinidad to New York, the lingering trauma of police violence after his brother's death in Atlanta, and the strange burden of becoming the keeper of a family archive of memories, objects, and stories. Darden reflects on what it means to inherit not only possessions but also responsibility for the narrative of a family's past. From there, the discussion shifts to Darden's increasingly theatrical performance practice. He recounts a recent performance staged in an entirely blacked-out theater that blended wrestling mythology, Atlanta rap history, gospel music, cinematic references, and sculptural staging into a chaotic and emotional ritual. Undertaker imagery, Pastor Troy, Lil' Kim, and The Naked Gun collide in a deliberately excessive spectacle meant to mirror the overwhelming density of memory and grief. Throughout the conversation, Darden describes his work as a kind of mental montage. Cars, hip-hop, conspiracy theories, television shows, and family trauma coexist in the same symbolic landscape. Rather than separating high and low culture, he embraces the full range of references that shape lived experience. The episode also turns toward the future, as Darden reflects on fatherhood and the challenge of raising a young son while carrying the weight of family history. In contrast to the losses that haunt his work, his son's creativity and confidence offer a different kind of legacy. What emerges is a portrait of an artist using humor, spectacle, and cultural collage to navigate the most difficult questions of survival, responsibility, and memory.
