This episode centers on the crucial role of divine guidance in leadership, as highlighted in Isaiah 30:21. We will explore how leaders can attune their ears to hear God's direction, ensuring that their decisions are aligned with His will and purpose. Our springboard for today's discussion is: Isaiah 30:21: "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'" This scripture reassures us of God's commitment to guide us, especially when the path ahead seems unclear.Leadership comes with the challenge of making decisions that can have significant impacts. Relying on God's voice isn't just an option; it's a necessity for spiritual and practical success. Today, we delve into how leaders can actively seek and discern God's guidance.Importance of Divine Guidance in Leadership:* Navigating Decisions: God's voice provides clarity when making decisions that impact not only the leader but also the people they are responsible for.* Facing Uncertainty: In times of uncertainty, God's guidance can be the beacon that leads a leader safely through.Seeking God's Voice in Leadership:* Prayer as a Priority: Maintain a robust prayer life that prioritizes seeking God's will above all personal or organizational agendas.* Scriptural Alignment: Ensure that all decisions align with biblical principles. Regularly immerse yourself in Scripture to keep your spiritual senses sharp and attuned to God's voice.* Silence and Solitude: Spend time in silence and solitude to listen for God's guidance without the distraction of constant noise or activity.Practical Ways to Hear God's Voice:* Fasting for Clarity: Engage in fasting when faced with major decisions. Fasting can heighten your spiritual sensitivity and clear the way for God's voice to come through more distinctly.* Spiritual Counsel: Seek counsel from spiritually mature individuals who can offer wisdom and confirmation on what you believe God is speaking to you.* Reflective Journaling: Keep a journal of the times you believe God has spoken to you. Over time, this can help you see patterns and confirmations of His guidance.ConclusionLeadership driven by divine direction stands on a firm foundation and is equipped to navigate the complexities of any challenge. By cultivating sensitivity to God's voice, leaders can lead with confidence and integrity.A Question of the Day: What specific area in your leadership are you seeking God's guidance for right now, and what steps are you taking to hear His direction?Growth Challenge: For the next month, dedicate at least 15 minutes daily to sit in silence before God after reading Scripture. Use this time to listen for His guidance on a decision you need to make. Journal any insights or directions you receive during this time.Let's Pray: Father, we ask for Your wisdom and guidance in every decision we face as leaders. Help us to hear Your voice clearly and follow Your path with confidence. May our leadership reflect Your truth and love, guiding others in the way they should go. In Jesus' name, Amen.As we wrap up, remember that leadership is not just about making decisions but making the right decisions as directed by God. Keep seeking His voice, and let His divine direction lead your every step. Let's get to work.My Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. Are you looking for God's guidance today? Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller. This week, we are in 1 Samuel 9. I've titled this chapter "Guided By God." Today, our text is 1 Samuel 9:3-6, which reads: Now the donkeys of Kish, Saul's father, were lost. So Kish said to Saul his son, “Take one of the young men with you, and arise, go and look for the donkeys.” And he passed through the hill country of Ephraim and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they did not find them. And they passed through the land of Shaalim, but they were not there. Then they passed through the land of Benjamin, but did not find them. When they came to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, “Come, let us go back, lest my father cease to care about the donkeys and become anxious about us.” But he said to him, “Behold, there is a man of God in this city, and he is a man who is held in honor; all that he says comes true. So now let us go there. Perhaps he can tell us the way we should go.” — 1 Samuel 9:3-6 With a political revolution brewing among Israel's leaders, we are transported to an insignificant rural family and the Hill Country of Ephraim. The Hill Country of Ephraim was a 15-mile long by 27-mile wide stretch of land consisting of large V-shaped hills, making finding a few lost donkeys a near-impossible task. Still obedient to their father, these two young men went out on their search. Coming up empty-handed, they find themselves in the land of Zuph, which should be a familiar place for us since this is precisely where this story began. In 1 Samuel 1:1, this is where Samuel's great-great-great grandfather resided, which is no coincidence. The two young men are about to turn back here but decide to consult with a prophet who might give them spiritual guidance for this impossible task. While they would not find the lost donkeys, they would find something more significant—Saul's calling as the first king of Israel. This story presents a simple yet profound lesson for those seeking God's guidance. Faithful obedience is always where we find God's guidance and, with it, our calling and purpose in this life. This is how it worked for Saul and every great believer and leader you read about in the Bible. This is how it has always worked in my life, too. I know some believers are seeking guidance from God and looking for their unique purpose and calling in this life. Sometimes, this search can be disorienting, confusing, and even irritating. When we are confused and irritated like this, we can be tempted to act in disobedience, which only obscures the righteous path. The most important thing we can do is to take another small step of obedience, even if it seems like the path leads nowhere. Sometimes, the path that appears to lead to nowhere is exactly where God wants us to be, and it is usually right here that God reveals the plan and purpose he has for our lives. So, if you want to know God's plan and purpose for you, live in the adventure of faith and take a small step of obedience, even if it seems to lead nowhere. #FaithfulObedience, #GodsGuidance, #DivinePurpose Ask This: In what areas of your life do you feel lost or directionless, and how can you take a small step of obedience today to seek God's guidance? Reflect on a time when you followed God's leading, even when it didn't make sense. How did that step of faith reveal His plan and purpose for you? Do This: Be obedient and discover your calling. Pray This: Lord, help me to trust Your guidance and take steps of obedience, even when the path seems unclear. Reveal Your purpose for my life as I walk faithfully with You each day. Amen. Play This: Run To The Father.
Today's teaching shows us what happens when we follow where God leads and when we share the Good News of our Savior Jesus. Philip used “Isaiah's Prophecy” to teach the man in today's story, all about Jesus. Scripture text: Acts 8:26-40, Isaiah 52:13-52:12 awakeusnow.com
Can you trace the decisions in your life back to an instruction from God? In this message, Pastor DaVon explains how the Holy Spirit guides and teaches you, highlighting the importance of listening to God's instructions to experience true life.
Three keys to unlocking divine direction. Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller. This week, we are reading 1 Samuel 3. I've titled this chapter "Into Our Silence God Speaks." Today, I am reading verses 8-10, it reads: And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy. Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down, and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.'” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.” — 1 Samuel 3:8-10 Today, Samuel demonstrates how to unlock the divine direction that you want and need. Three keys: Key One | Persistence God called Samuel four times before he realized that God was speaking to him. Four times! You thought you were slow. Sometimes, we are all a little slow, but Samuel got something right. He was persistent in listening. We need the same persistence in how we listen. The world is noisy: there is political noise, business noise, financial noise, marital noise, household noise, emotional noise, and sometimes, it takes a lot of work to hear God through all the noise. This means you need to persist in listening. Don't quit listening for God after the first attempt or prayer. Listen longer because when you don't know what God's voice sounds like, you might have already heard it but just don't know it yet. Key Two | Guidance Samuel needed clear guidance to discern God's voice and how to respond. If you are confused about what God wants you to do, seek spiritual guidance from someone you know who hears from God. Samuel had Eli. Eli was not a perfect man, but he did provide Samuel with enough guidance on how to discern and respond. It was just enough for him to take the first step. There are believers around you who hear from God and who have just enough wisdom to guide you as well. Key Three | Readiness I love Samuel's statement, "Speak, for your servant hears." His posture and positional readiness are what is needed. Most believers want to hear from God but sometimes are not positionally ready for the answer. If you want to hear God's voice and get his direction, then you need to prepare your soul for divine guidance that may not be what you want to hear, do, or share with others. This is exactly what is about to happen to Samuel. Your posture must be that of the servant. When God speaks you need to ready yourself. If you desire to hear from God, confidently embrace these three keys: persistence, guidance, and readiness. By applying these principles, you will consistently unlock the divine direction you want and need. #DivineDirection, #HearingGodsVoice, #SpiritualGuidance Ask This: How can you cultivate a spirit of persistence in your daily life to better hear God's voice amidst the noise of the world? Who in your life can you turn to for spiritual guidance and support, and how can you actively seek their wisdom to discern God's direction for your life? Do This: Do the three keys. Pray This: Father, grant me the persistence to listen for Your voice, the humility to seek guidance from those who follow You, and the readiness to obey Your will, even when it challenges me. Help me to hear Your whispers above the clamor of the world and to faithfully follow where You lead. Amen. Play This: The Struggle.

Navigating the complexities of life requires more than human wisdom and effort; it demands divine guidance. Psalm 32:8 offers a profound promise from God to His followers: He will instruct, teach, and counsel us, watching over our journey with attentive care. This verse lays the foundation for a life not just lived but led—led by the Almighty who knows the path ahead and the lessons we need to learn. Embracing this divine oversight involves a commitment to humility, obedience, and active listening, which are crucial for anyone who desires to take responsibility for their life under God's guidance. Our springboard for today's discussion is: Psalm 32:8 - "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you."The assurance that God will instruct and counsel His followers suggests a personal, interactive relationship between the Creator and His creation. This verse isn't about distant, detached commands; it's about close, continuous guidance that considers the individual's context and needs. For believers, taking responsibility for one's life means actively seeking this guidance and aligning one's decisions and actions with the wisdom received from God. This proactive engagement with divine instruction is key to living a life that is not only responsible but also rich in purpose and fulfillment.Focus Points for Integrating Divine Guidance into Daily Life:* Cultivate a Heart of Humility: Recognize your need for God's wisdom and acknowledge His sovereignty over your life. A humble heart is more receptive to divine direction and more willing to submit to God's plans.* Consistent Prayer Life: Foster a strong, consistent prayer life that prioritizes seeking God's guidance above expressing personal desires. Use prayer as a means to enhance your sensitivity to God's voice and readiness to respond.* Engage with Scripture Regularly: Scripture is a primary tool through which God instructs His people. Regular engagement with the Bible equips you with knowledge of God's character and principles, enabling you to discern His guidance more clearly.* Seek Godly Counsel: While personal prayer and study are irreplaceable, the wisdom of other mature believers can provide additional clarity and confirmation. Involve trusted spiritual mentors and peers in your decision-making processes.* Monitor and Adjust Your Path: Be attentive to the outcomes of your choices and the feedback you receive from your environment. God's counsel often comes with confirmation through circumstances and the counsel of others. Be prepared to adjust your course as you receive further guidance. Conclusion: Taking responsibility for your life in alignment with Psalm 32:8 means embracing God's promise to guide and instruct you. It is an active, ongoing process of seeking, listening, and responding to the divine direction. By committing to this process, you ensure that your life is not only responsible but also resonant with the peace and purpose that comes from walking in God's ways.Call to Action: Identify one key decision you face this week. Commit to seeking God's guidance on this matter through prayer, Scripture study, and consultation with godly mentors. Document the insights and directions you receive and act upon them, trusting that God's eye is upon you.Question of the Day: What area of your life do you need to seek more of God's instruction, and what practical steps will you take to receive His guidance?Let's Pray: Father, thank You for Your promise to instruct and guide us through life's complexities. Help us to seek Your counsel diligently, to listen to Your voice attentively, and to follow Your directions faithfully. May Your watchful eye upon us bring comfort and confidence as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead. Lead us in Your ways, and let our lives glorify You in all things. In Jesus' Name, Amen.As you step forward into this week, keep your heart and mind open to the instruction and counsel from the Lord. Remember, His guidance is not just for the big moments but for every step of the journey. Let His word light your path and His eyes oversee your progress as you take responsible actions under His divine direction. My Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. A successful life is not measured by your popularity or possessions; it's measured by discovering and working in the divine direction God has for you! God commands us to obey His voice and keep His covenant — you can't get trapped in comparing yourself to others if you're going to be used by God! God is calling you to discover His specific vision for your life, and while the vision can be very simple, His instructions won't make any sense to our logic. In which John and David discuss the unexpected paths that can unfold when divine intervention intersects with our personal journeys. Our latest episode delves into the profound partnership between Timothy and Paul and how it shaped the early Christian church. We reminisce about the pastors who, like Timothy, have been pillars in our faith walk, and consider how Timothy's decision to follow Paul created waves that still ripple through Christian doctrine today.Navigating life's mysterious detours can be perplexing. We unpack the discernment needed to distinguish between God's guiding hand and the barriers we face. By examining scriptural anecdotes and Paul's own experiences, we draw lessons that resonate with our contemporary quests for purpose. The discussion leads us to a profound realization: the closed doors we encounter may be just as significant as the open ones, each playing a pivotal role in steering us towards our divine destiny. The episode culminates with an exploration of aligning our personal aspirations with a higher calling. Here, we discuss the power of righteousness as a foundation for service, inspired by Paul's teachings. Reflecting on how his unexpected redirections nurtured a mature outlook on serving within a grander narrative, we invite listeners to consider how their own life's redirections might serve a larger purpose.
