Guest: Brenda Wineapple. The defense suffered a major setback when the judge ruled that their scientific experts could not testify before the jury, forcing them to read affidavits into the record instead. H.L. Mencken, the acerbic journalist who dubbed the event the "Monkey Trial," covered the proceedings. Sympathetic to Darrow and critical of Bryan's"fanatic" views, Mencken influenced public perception, though the jury remained shielded from the scientific evidence the defense hoped to present.1960 FREDERIC MARCH AS WILLIAM JENNINGS BRYAN "INHERIT THE WIND"
In her new book “When Trees Testify,” plant biologist Beronda L. Montgomery examines the ways trees are intertwined with Black American history as well as her own life story. For example, the pecan tree was domesticated by an enslaved African and sycamores were both havens and signposts for those fleeing slavery. We talk to Montgomery and hear from you: What's a tree with special significance to your history? Guests: Beronda L. Today's Headlines: Six federal prosecutors in Minnesota resigned after the DOJ pushed them to investigate the widow of Renee Good — while still refusing to treat the ICE officer who killed Good as a civil rights case. The DOJ is now probing alleged ties between Good's wife and local ICE protest groups, a move prosecutors called a blatant inversion of justice. At the same time, Rep. Jamie Raskin is pressing DHS over reports that ICE is recruiting pardoned January 6 participants, asking how many now have guns, masks, and badges. That scrutiny comes as more than 50 House Democrats roll out articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem for obstruction, civil rights violations, and alleged self-dealing. Trump escalated things in Detroit, announcing he'll cut off federal funding to sanctuary cities and states starting February 1 — targeting 11 states and D.C. labeled as sanctuary jurisdictions. Abroad, Iran's regime crackdown has reportedly killed more than 2,000 protesters. Trump says he's canceled talks with Tehran, urged protesters to “take over your institutions,” slapped new tariffs on countries doing business with Iran, and — as the regime jams Starlink — the White House has reportedly held quiet talks with exiled opposition figure Reza Pahlavi. In Epstein news, Bill and Hillary Clinton refused to testify before the House Oversight Committee about Jeffrey Epstein, instead sending an eight-page letter arguing the subpoenas are invalid and noting they already submitted sworn statements the committee accepted from others. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court heard arguments on state bans targeting transgender athletes, with signs the justices are unlikely to strike them down. And civil rights trailblazer Claudette Colvin, whose defiance on a Montgomery bus at 15 helped ignite the civil rights movement, has died at 86. Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
Arnulfo Reyes heard a child in the next classroom call out for help. "Officer, come in here. We're in here." Then he heard more gunshots. He never heard that voice again. On January 12, 2026, Reyes — the only teacher to survive the massacre inside Robb Elementary's connected classrooms — testified in the trial of former Uvalde school district officer Adrian Gonzales. His account was unflinching. He described the gunman as a "black shadow" holding a weapon, fire coming from the barrel, the bullet that dropped him, and then the sound of his students being executed. The shooter came back to taunt him, smearing Reyes' own blood on his face while the teacher kept his eyes closed, pretending to be dead. It didn't matter. The gunman shot him in the back anyway. Reyes lay wounded on the floor of Room 111 for 77 minutes before Border Patrol agents finally breached. Every child in his class was killed. The prosecution is using this testimony to show what was happening inside while officers, including Gonzales, allegedly waited outside. But the defense struck back hard on cross-examination. Attorney Nico LaHood questioned Reyes about the culture of unlocked doors at Robb Elementary and got him to admit that locking his classroom door was his responsibility. The implication: there's plenty of blame to go around. Texas Rangers also testified about the "fatal funnel" officers faced — a hallway with no cover against rifle fire. This case is unprecedented. Gonzales faces 29 counts of child endangerment for allegedly failing to act. The question for the jury: who failed these children first?#HiddenKillers #UvaldeMassacre #GonzalesTrial #ArnulfoReyes #RobbElementary #TrueCrimePodcast #ChildEndangerment #CourtroomDrama #UvaldeTexas #JusticeForUvaldeJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISDOES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? In this sermon. Pastor Christopher talks about our faith and what it allows us to overcome in the world. He shares with us the victory and verification we have as believers, and how important it is to know the essentials of our faith in the midst of other teaching and cults. Finally, he breaks down the faith contrasting Cerinthianism, and how to prove that John could have/did live in Asia Minor. What have the believers overcome, and how did they gain this victory? Does having God in us give us a free pass to sin? Listen to learn more! LAKEVIEW MISSIONARY CHURCH810 S. Music icon John Legend is expected to testify in the upcoming sexual assault trial against powerhouse executive L.A. An intense wave of headlines hit this week, with one of the most shocking incidents occurring in Minneapolis. A 37‑year‑old mother of three, Renee Nicole Good—a compassionate poet and U.S. citizen—was fatally shot by an ICE agent during an immigration operation. While federal officials claim she ran her vehicle into an officer, local authorities and archived video footage dispute that narrative, and critics have condemned the ICE presence as reckless and dangerous. Tensions flared as state officials were excluded from the probe, prompting concerns over transparency and accountability. In entertainment news, Ray J, 44, was hospitalized in Las Vegas with severe pneumonia and chest pains—the same illness he feared could have killed him in 2021. Medical staff performed X‑rays and an echocardiogram, and sources say he is grateful for the support and focused on recovery. Meanwhile, music icon John Legend is expected to testify in the upcoming sexual assault trial against powerhouse executive L.A. Reid, where allegations suggest Reid blocked Legend’s early career in retaliation—adding emotional weight to intersection of fame and justice. On a lighter note, rap star and Rickey Smiley’s own Da Brat and her wife Judy Dupart are set to release their joint memoir, The Way Love Goes, a candid and heartfelt guide exploring their journey from awkward beginnings to parenthood, offering insight into love and communication. DEC. 31, 2025Leave the past in the past."Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." Eph 4:32 NKJVStudies suggest that just 3 percent of life events are highly memorable. So, over the course of an average year, approximately seventeen experiences will make it into your long-term memory. The other 97 percent fades into the black hole called the subconscious. But that remaining 3 percent can hurt us every day if we cannot or will not forget. That 3 percent can make us prisoners of our past. Even if we've confessed our sin, we often still feel condemned. And that feeling of condemnation undermines the fact that God is for us (see Ps 56:9). We keep beating ourselves up. We keep sabotaging ourselves. We keep believing the self-defeating lies that come from Satan "the accuser" (see Rev 12:10). And how can you overcome the accuser and silence him? Revelation 12:11 says: "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony" (NKJV). Push back! Testify to Satan the accuser. Tell him what the blood of Jesus Christ has done on your behalf. Remind him that "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus" (Ro 8:1 KJV). None. Nada. Zilch. Zero. Not a trace. Not a whiff. Not a hint. Instead of defining yourself by what you've done wrong, define yourself by what Christ has done right on your behalf. Instead of defining yourself by the hurtful things done to you, begin to declare what Christ has done for you. If you are in Christ, you are not in sin. If you have been forgiven, you are no longer guilty.Leave the past in the past You are no longer guilty.Share This DevotionalSend us a textSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!
PART TWO OF DC residents speaking out about the impact of increased policing by federal agents, including ICE officers, since August 2025. Those presented here are among the 130 people who testified for nearly 12 hours on December 4th 2025 before the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee of the DC Council. The Trump administration ordered a multi-million dollar surge in policing and deployment of the National Guard, despite the district's 30-year low crime rate. That surge officially ended in September, but there are still more federal police openly collaborating with local police, leading to shootings and other violent encounters in DC neighborhoods. In this week's sermon, we discuss how we can respond to the birth and coming of Christ even after Christmas. We do this by looking at Mary and Joseph, Simeon, and Anna in the temple shortly after Jesus' birth. Our hope is to remain faithful followers of Christ year round and have that excitement of Christmas regardless of what the calendar says. We're glad that you made it to this sermon! We're also available on Youtube. For more information on our worship services or church as a whole, visit fbcwest.com.

SUPPORT OUR END OF YEAR APPEAL! On this show, we hear from residents of DC, speaking out about the impact of increased policing by federal agents, including ICE officers, since August 2025. Those presented here were among the 130 people who testified for nearly 12 hours on December 4th 2025 before the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee of the DC Council. The Trump administration ordered this multi-million dollar surge in policing and deployment of the National Guard, despite the district’s 30-year low crime rate. That surge officially ended in September, but there are still more federal police openly collaborating with local police, leading to shootings and other violent encounters in DC neighborhoods. The show is made possible only by our volunteer energy, our resolve to keep the people's voices on the air, and by support from our listeners. In this new era of fake corporate news, we have to be and support our own media! Please click here or click on the Support-Donate tab on this website to subscribe for as little as $3 a month. In this Advent sermon from John 18:33–38, Jesus declares the purpose of his birth: to bear witness to it. Jesus is the fulfillment of God's promises and the truth that stands over every moment of our lives.
Isaac Schafer shares in our series, Acts. He unpacks Acts 4:32-37 and shows how a Biblical worldview cannot align with socialism or communism, and that the testimony of the resurrection is the only way to fully surrender everything you have.
The investigation into the death of thirteen-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez has reached a critical turning point. A Los Angeles County grand jury is now in its third week of testimony, and the people closest to singer D4VD are beginning to fracture under pressure. Robert Morgenroth, general manager of D4VD's record label and president of his touring company, spent three consecutive days being questioned by Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman. Three days for a non-target witness is extraordinary. According to reports, Morgenroth was overheard in the courthouse hallway telling his attorney that Silverman was aggressive about one question in particular: why did he never contact police after learning a decomposing body had been discovered in his client's Tesla? His reported answer was that he wanted to continue with the tour. Meanwhile, a second witness connected to the case allegedly refused to appear before the grand jury. Prosecutors responded by seeking a body attachment order, authorizing law enforcement to detain her and compel testimony. She is represented by the same attorney as Morgenroth, raising questions about coordination within D4VD's inner circle. Celeste Rivas Hernandez was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California in April 2024. Her dismembered remains were discovered in the trunk of D4VD's abandoned Tesla in September 2025, one day after what would have been her fifteenth birthday. LAPD has officially identified D4VD as a suspect. Investigators have reportedly identified a second suspect believed to have assisted in disposing of her body. The case has been built using cellphone data, Tesla GPS logs, and social media location tracking. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins us to break down what these moves signal, why extended testimony often means prosecutors are hunting for inconsistencies, and what legal exposure witnesses face when they withhold critical information. The cracks are widening. #D4VD #CelesteRivas #TrueCrime #GrandJury #LAPD #CelesteRivasHernandez #JusticeForCeleste #RobertMorgenroth #HollywoodHills #TrueCrimeNews #JenniferCoffindaffer #HiddenKillers #TonyBrueski #TrueCrimePodcast #WitnessTampering #LegalAnalysis #LACounty #TrueCrimeCommunity #CriminalInvestigation #BreakingNews Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The BBC, through its spokespeople and lawyers have told Trump to get ready for his live testimony under oath in the case about Jan6 and him fomenting the crowd to attack the Capitol, as they let leak their aggressive strategy to win the case. Did Trump just step into a bear trap he set, subjecting himself to sworn testimony under oath in order to get the fanciful $10 billion in damages against an ally's broadcaster? Michael Popok dissects the BBC case and that by Trump against the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, and how they are all going scorched earth on Trump. Warner Bros Discovery's board rejected Paramount Skydance's $108.4 billion hostile bid on Wednesday, saying it failed to provide adequate financing assurances. The board said it found Paramount's offer "inferior" to the merger agreement with Netflix. The House Judiciary Committee is questioning former special counsel Jack Smith behind closed doors on Wednesday. Smith's deposition is regarding his two prosecutions of President Donald Trump over alleged mishandling of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort and actions challenging the results of the 2020 presidential election. A somewhat shocking day in the Brian Walshe trial with the defense announcing not only will Brian Walshe not testify, no one else will either. It’s a decision based on strategic confidence or avoidance of risk, but either way, the defense surprised a number of legal experts who were anticipating at least a few witnesses to take the stand in defense of Walshe. Today’s decision suggests Walshe’s defense team feels good about their ability to sew reasonable doubt in the minds of jurors through their cross examination of the state’s witnesses. Closing arguments are set for tomorrow!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The prosecution is using known DNA samples collected from Brian and Ana Walshe by the FBI back in 2018 for comparison with crime scene evidence. Most of the DNA from the tested items came back as a single source matching Ana Walshe. Some samples were identified as mixed sources containing DNA from both Ana and Brian Walshe. Details of Brian Walshe's rapid purchases of rugs, candles, towels, and bath mats at HomeGoods on January 2nd and 4th, and the revelation that he paid with gift cards from Ana's no-receipt returns. It is important to prove premeditation and the possible lesser-included charges the jury may consider. https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20251206dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: In the last days the mountain of the LORD'S temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” Isaiah 2:1-3 Come to the House of God Does everyone in your community know where your church is and what it believes and stands for? Do the members of your congregation pour out from Sunday worship and Bible study just looking for people to tell about God? Do you? Do your neighbors know that you are a follower of Jesus? When Jesus, the Son of God, died on that cross to pay for the sins of every person in the whole world, and rose again to prove he was the victorious King of kings, the prophecy of Isaiah in our Bible reading for today was fulfilled. The “mountain of the Lord’s temple was established as chief among the mountains.” Now Jesus rules over all things, and the kingdom of God will prevail for all eternity. The One who rules the universe has claimed you as his very own. You are part of the greatest, strongest, tallest, mountainous, most powerful organization in history. And it will last forever! Jesus is the greatest, most powerful, most victorious ruler of the world. There is nothing more important or valuable than being a member of his kingdom. That’s good news for you and something you will want to share. Testify to the greatness of Jesus by the way you live. Invite the people you know to “come to the house of God,” where God will teach them the way of salvation! Prayer: Dear Lord, remind me of the amazing blessings I have through forgiveness in Jesus. Lead me to walk in the light of your path and draw others to your Word so that they may also believe and share these blessings with me. Amen. Daily Devotions is brought to you by WELS. Cassie Ventura, the former partner of Sean "Diddy" Combs, has chosen to testify under her real name in his upcoming federal trial, where he faces charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Identified in court documents as "Victim-1," Ventura's decision contrasts with three other alleged victims who have requested to remain anonymous due to concerns about media harassment and personal safety. Prosecutors have filed motions to allow these individuals to use pseudonyms during the trial to protect their identities.Ventura's willingness to publicly associate her name with the case is significant, given her previous allegations against Combs. In November 2023, she filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape, physical abuse, and sex trafficking, which was settled the following day. Additionally, in May 2024, surveillance footage from a 2016 incident surfaced, allegedly showing Combs physically assaulting Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel. This footage has become a focal point in the current proceedings. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains in custody awaiting trial, which is scheduled to commence on May 5, 2025to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Cassie to Testify Against Diddy Using Her Name in Sex Trafficking Trial (Exclusive)

As part of our Hidden Killers 2025 Year in Review series, we revisit the shocking moment that shattered the illusion of Adelson family unity — Wendi Adelson's refusal to testify for her mother, Donna, in one of Florida's most explosive murder-for-hire trials. In a stunning pretrial twist, Donna's defense team tried to subpoena her daughter, Wendi, hoping her testimony might humanize Donna or counterbalance the prosecution's narrative. But Wendi's lawyers fought back, arguing that testifying could incriminate her — and the judge agreed. The subpoena was tossed, meaning Wendi will not be forced to take the stand. It's a moment that speaks volumes without a word being spoken. While Charlie Adelson, already convicted and serving life for his role in the 2014 murder of Florida State law professor Dan Markel, steps forward to testify for his mother, Wendi stays silent. In a case built on loyalty, control, and manipulation, this silence may say more than any testimony ever could. Tony Brueski and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott break down what this fracture reveals about the psychology of the Adelson family — how fear, guilt, and self-preservation drive behavior when the walls close in. They analyze how jurors are likely to interpret the sibling contrast: one child taking the stand for loyalty, another staying quiet to save herself. Does Wendi's silence protect her, or does it make her look complicit? Then, defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis joins Tony to explore how this new dynamic could shift courtroom strategy. Could Donna's team now push harder to put her on the stand herself, hoping to fill the emotional vacuum left by Wendi's absence? And what will the state do with a family now publicly divided — a daughter refusing to help her mother, a son defending her from a prison cell? This isn't just a trial about murder. It's about the collapse of a dynasty built on influence and image, where loyalty has finally given way to self-preservation.
