It wasn't that long ago when even large horse training operations used clipboards and index cards to manage all the complexities of their operations. That's all changed because of technology, which now allows training operations of all sizes, and the industry as a whole, to keep a much better handle on their affairs. In this episode of On the Lead, a joint venture between the Jockey Club and In the Money Media, Pete Fornatale and Shannon Kelly sit down with Tracy Attfield, the creator of TLore, and Maggie Sweet, former COO for Todd Pletcher and current Executive Director of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, to talk all about how technology has changed and improved the lives of trainers everywhere.

SPECIAL EDITION RUNDGREN RADIO SHOW: The classic and epic Pete Fornatale Mixed Bag interview with Todd Rundgren from the LIARS period. This show is being aired in honor and memory of Pete. Unfortunately Pete passed away on April 26th. He was 66. Pete was a disc jockey who helped usher in a musical alternative to Top 40 AM radio in New York in the late 1960s and early 1970s, presenting progressive rock and long album tracks that AM stations wouldn’t touch and helping to give WNEW a major presence on the still-young FM dial. Last year, Pete was a special guest panelist at Todd Rundgren's Musical Survival Camp and a guest on one of Rundgren Radio's "Camp Counselor Series" shows.
Special Edition featuring a "Liars" era TR interview by Pete Fornatale, who died during the past week.

As I'm sure you know, this weekend marks the 40th anniversary of Woodstock..of course the Grateful Dead played there - in fact they were one of the headliners - yet they thought so little of their performance there that they never had anything good to say about it..Whether the Dead's performance was any worse than any number of shows is an open question, yet the significance of the event for the culture Zeitgeist is beyond question.. We start this week's Deadpod with a discussion with author Pete Fornatale, whose new book Back to the Garden, The Story of Woodstock presents an oral history of this amazing event..We then listen to two songs from the Dead's performance that night -High Time and Lovelight, the latter where the band is joined by a very high Ken Babbs...Hope you enjoy the show..Grateful Dead8-16-69Max Yasgur's Farm,Bethel, New YorkHigh TimeLovelightYou can listen to this week's Deadpod here:http://media.libsyn.com/media/deadshow/deadpod081409.mp3Thanks for your support, my friends!
Longtime NY radio personality Pete Fornatale remembers how he covered Woodstock for WNEW-FM, including the festival ad he read on the air. Interesting to now hear how people bought tickets in those simpler times.
