14. jūnijā, Komunistiskā genocīda upuru piemiņas dienā, aicinām doties uz Okupācijas muzeju un ieskatīties izstādē "Ticēt un kalpot", kas stāsta par okupācijas varas represijām pret garīdzniekiem, pret ticību, kā arī cilvēku garīgo spēku, ko viņi saglabājuši arī ļoti smagos pārbaudījumu laikos.  Padomju vara sistemātiski cīnījās pret kristietību, tai skaitā represējot garīdzniekus, kurus uzskatīja par potenciāliem režīma pretiniekiem, jo viņiem bija autoritāte sabiedrībā un viņi pārstāvēja vērtības, kas nebija pakļautas komunistiskās partijas kontrolei. En Côte d'Ivoire, le premier laboratoire d'analyse ADN a ouvert ses portes en novembre 2025. Il est situé au Vitib, une zone industrielle dédiée aux entreprises des TIC. Cela permet de rendre plus accessibles les tests de paternité. Avec une perspective plus large : celle de développer la médecine génomique sur le continent. Pour en parler, le professeur David Tea Okou, le directeur de ce laboratoire. RFI : Pourquoi est-ce important d'avoir des laboratoires de test ADN, ici, en Côte d'Ivoire ? Professeur David Tea Okou : Le patrimoine génétique des Africains est le plus riche au monde entier. Tous les scénarios, tous les changements qui existent ne sont pas encore connus. Les informations que nous avons proviennent beaucoup plus des populations d'ascendance européenne, et c'est par rapport à leurs informations que nous recevons les traitements, les diagnostics et tout ça. Et donc, avoir un laboratoire d'ADN sur place peut servir à recenser tous ces scénarios qui vont être exploités pour une meilleure prise en charge des populations africaines. Comment expliquez-vous ce retard ? Est-ce lié à un manque d'intérêt ou bien à un manque de moyens ? Je dirais plus un manque de moyens qui comprend un manque d'infrastructures mais aussi une rareté de l'expertise. Il faut que nous mettions l'accent sur le transfert de compétences, le transfert de technologie pour que l'exploitation soit faite en Afrique par les Africains pour le bénéfice des Africains. Vous-même avez passé 34 ans aux États-Unis, vous avez pratiqué là-bas en revenant comme ça fraîchement en Côte d'Ivoire, quel est votre objectif pour ce domaine-là ? L'objectif est de pouvoir développer la médecine de précision, qui demande que chaque individu soit pris en charge sur la base de sa singularité génétique. Pour ce faire, il faut déjà recenser tout ce qui existe sur le continent africain en termes de changements qu'on ne sait pas, qu'on ne connaît pas, qu'on n'a pas encore recensés. Une fois que cela est fait, on pourra l'exploiter pour dire par exemple : « Voilà pourquoi tel médicament, pour la même maladie au monde, est moins efficace sur les Africains que sur les populations d'ascendance européenne ». Quelle est la visée de ces tests-là ? L'objectif, c'est de pouvoir offrir un diagnostic assez précoce pour dire que, pendant que vous êtes bien portant, nous avons identifié telle maladie naissante de façon que vous puissiez être suivi, qu'il y ait un protocole de suivi pour éviter ou retarder la maladie. Et l'objectif, c'est de pouvoir faire en sorte que chaque individu puisse avoir un traitement optimisé. Parce que l'individu peut avoir un changement d'ADN qui peut dire que ce traitement qui est proposé pour telle maladie n'est pas optimisé pour vous. Peut-être que pour vous on doit réduire la dose. Financièrement parlant, est-ce que c'est accessible pour les Ivoiriens lambda ? Les examens sont assez comparables en termes de coût à certains examens qui existent sur la place comme la chimiothérapie, les histoires d'IRM et tout ça. Donc les coûts se situent un peu dans la même tranche. Est-ce que vous avez noté une demande de patients qui viennent également, ou d'autres acteurs qui viennent aussi de la sous-région ? Oui, il y a des patients qu'on reçoit de la sous-région. J'ai même reçu un patient qui est venu de la Guinée hier. C'est malheureux qu'il fasse ce déplacement-là pour arriver en Côte d'Ivoire juste pour les tests génétiques. Ça souligne l'importance de la nécessité de vulgariser cette expertise dans les différentes régions. Vous parliez tout à l'heure dans votre labo aussi des tests liés aux enquêtes policières. Est-ce qu'aujourd'hui vous sentez également une demande à ce niveau-là ? Oui. Pour les tests d'identification, nous avons reçu d'un pays voisin des échantillons par rapport à une scène de crime sur demande de la police de la région, et nous avons fait le rapport que nous avons donné. Et récemment, j'ai été convié aux réseaux de la police scientifique de l'Afrique de l'Ouest pour parler de l'utilisation de l'ADN dans les enquêtes criminelles. Alors, on est tous unanimes sur le fait que l'ADN est un outil qui a fait ses preuves, qu'on a besoin d'utiliser. Mais il y a un manque d'expertise. Maintenant, il faut aller à la phase supérieure. Jumaane D. Williams is the Public Advocate of the City of New York. Previously, he served on the NYC Council representing the 45th District. Jumaane is a first-generation Brooklynite of Grenadian heritage. He graduated from the public school system, overcoming the difficulties of Tourettes and ADHD to earn a Masters Degree from Brooklyn College. He began his career as a community organizer at the Greater Flatbush Beacon School and later served as the Executive Director of NYS Tenants Neighbors. As former Co-Chair of the Council's Task Force to Combat Gun Violence, he helped create New York's Crisis Management System, whichfunds Cure Violence Groups that work to reduce shootings through a multi-pronged approach. The program fundamentally transformed the city's approach to gun violence prevention, and as Public Advocate he continues to work for its expansion and improvement today. Jumaane has led the fight for better policing and safer streets, affordable housing, and transparency and accountability in City government. Si la qualité d'Internet est globalement satisfaisante, certaines zones restent mal couvertes. L'ICTA travaille à améliorer la situation, notamment via l'application « KaliteNet » destinée à surveiller la qualité des services, indique Jérôme Louis, Officer-in-Charge de l'institution. En la sección TIC de Radio Voz, el experto Hugo Fraga, de la empresa Hyliacom, ha advertido sobre los riesgos del uso indebido de los códigos QR, una herramienta cada vez más habitual pero también vulnerable a fraudes. Según explicó, un simple QR puede contener enlaces o instrucciones capaces de redirigir a páginas falsas o ejecutar acciones que comprometan la seguridad del usuario. Fraga alertó de estafas en las que se colocan códigos QR fraudulentos sobre otros legítimos, por ejemplo en cajeros automáticos o espacios públicos, con el objetivo de captar credenciales bancarias o datos personales. Una vez escaneado, el usuario puede ser dirigido a páginas que imitan bancos u otros servicios para robar información sensible. El especialista insistió en la importancia de verificar el origen del código QR y desconfiar de pegatinas sospechosas. Aun así, recordó que la tecnología también tiene usos positivos en ámbitos como la restauración o la trazabilidad de productos.

"Sāpes ir tik sarežģīts koncepts, kur mūsu prāts un emocijas spēlē milzīgu lomu, un tādēļ, ja skatās retrospektīvi par to, cik bieži un kādās situācijās cilvēkiem sāpes parādās, tad viņi spēj patiešām arī atcerēties konkrētas reizes - jā, toreiz bija lietas, un man sāpēja. Bet vēl papildus ir jaucējfaktors, ka viņam jau ir šī pārliecība, ka tad, kad ir lietus, viņam sāp un tieši tās reizes viņš arī atceras. Bet viņš neatceras, ka bija lietas un viņam nesāpēja vai viņam sāpēja un nebija lietus. Tādēļ tas mīts virmo gaisā, bet to kultivē cilvēki paši," atzīst Līga Līdumniece-Šulca. -- Kas attiecās uz ievziedu aukstumu, tas ir lielisks piemērs, kā cilvēka prāts selektīvi izvēlas savilkt veidot saistības, jo tikpat labi varētu būt ticējums, ka vizbuļu ziedēšanas laikā uznāk aukstums vai mālēpju, vai vēl labāk pieneņu ziedēšanas laikā. Ievas Latvijā, ja ņemam visu valsts teritoriju, zied aptuveni mēnesi. Nupat pirmās sākušas ziedēt Latvijas dienvidos, bet kamēr izziedēs pekrastē, kur vēsāks, īpaši atsevišķos Kurzemes piekrastes posmos, būs jau maija vidus. Un tā kā pie mums pavasarī nemēdz būt mēnesis no vietas ar stabilu siltumu, sanāk, ka mūsu senči ir tajā vainojuši ievas, bet tikpat labi tas varēja būt jebkurš cits pavasarī ziedošs augs. Vēl esam vēsajā pavasara daļā, nevis tajā, kad pēc lietus gaiss ir silts un smaržīgs. Pavasara pilnbrieds vēl priekšā. Smaržai, kas parādās gaisā pēc lietus ir vairāki iemesli. Mūsu platuma grādos pavasarī un vasaras sākumā tas lielā mērā saistīts ar augiem, kad īsajās ziemeļu vasarās viss steidzīgi sazied. Bet ir vēl tā īpašā smarža, kas lietū rodas pat tad, kad nekas nezied. Pilsētas ielās vai klajā laukā, bet vislabāk to var just tieši pēc sausākiem un karstākiem periodiem. Angliski šai smaržai ir vārds - petrichor, kas atvasināts no sengrieķu valodas un nozīmē akmens asinis, bet šo savdabīgo smaržu izrādās rada baktērijas, kas dzīvo augsnē. Tās sausā un karstā laikā sāk iet bojā un to izdzīvošanas stratēģija ir izdalīt aromātu, kas piesaista nelielus kukaiņus, kuros baktērija var parazitēt. Pēc sausāka un karstāka laika šis baktēriju izdalītais aromāts ir uzkrājies augsnē un ar lietus pilieniem, kas triecas pret zemi, tiek uzmestas gaisā, kur ar mikroskopiskiem pilieniem izplatās, un to varam saost arī mēs cilvēki. On this episode of Managed Care Cast, The American Journal of Managed Care® spoke with David Muhlstein, PhD, JD, founder and CEO of Simple Healthcare, about his recent articles highlighting Transparency in Coverage (TIC) files and ghost rates from 119 insurers, including 3 national commercial payers. Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare TIC files were more than 90% ghost rates—billing codes for procedures that would never be performed by a specific physician. For example, there were billing codes for heart surgery performed by a psychiatrist, Muhlstein said. These ghost rates increase the size of TIC files, making them difficult to evaluate for consumers, researchers, and analysts. Data files of this size muddle the true aim of the TIC files to provide actual transparency that would allow consumers to compare the prices of health care services and choose more affordable options.

Thanks for joining me in Session 315 of The Behavioral Observations Podcast. In this episode, I spoke with Drs. Gabi Morgan and David Adams to dive deep into trauma-informed behavior analysis. Gabi brings her 30-year journey in the field—from undergrad roots to professorship at Bay Path University—while David shares his evolution from child and family therapy to clinical psychology, with a heavy focus on foster and adoptive parenting. Both guests are passionate about closing the divide between trauma therapy and behavioral strategies, and they credit mentors like Dr. Jeannie Golden for lighting the way. We kick things off by unpacking what trauma really means. In doing so, as a content warning, please be aware that we do make general references to a variety of traumatic and adverse experiences. Having said that, David walks us through SAMHSA's three-part definition: the event, the experience, and the effects. It's not the event itself that defines trauma—it's the individual's response. He introduces "adverse conditioning experiences" as a behavior-analytic twist on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), spotlighting how negative associations get wired in through conditioning. From there, we contrast PTSD and complex PTSD. Same core symptoms (intrusive thoughts, avoidance, etc.), but complex PTSD adds prolonged exposure and three extra layers: impaired self-worth, rocky relationships, and emotional dysregulation. Gabi drives home a critical point: folks with developmental disabilities are at higher risk for trauma but often fly under the diagnostic radar. We need to get better at spotting trauma-related behaviors in this population. Screening, Brain Science, and Practical Strategies Screening is a big theme. We all agree behavior analysts aren't formally trained in assessment, but we have to be aware of how this is done. Gabi loves the Child Health and Development Institute's Child Trauma Screen (CTS), and the Massachusetts Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (Mass CANS) tool.  David then nerds out on the neurobiology: trauma affects the amygdala (hypervigilance), hippocampus (memory glitches), hypothalamus (stress gone haywire), and frontal lobe (decision-making on the fritz). Enter the "amygdala hijack"—when fear short-circuits rational thought. Bottom line? Kids in fight-or-flight aren't in a teachable moment. Safety and calm have to come first. We close the show with actionable takeaways: risk-benefit analyses for every intervention (especially with histories of food neglect), "kind extinction" (empathy + withholding reinforcers), and the six pillars of trauma-informed care (safety, trustworthiness, peer support, collaboration, empowerment, cultural competence). TIC isn't a "hyphenated" ABA—it's the whole framework. Advice for new BCBAs? Seek trauma training, question "business as usual," and be the stable adult in a kid's chaotic world. TIC is an approach that recognizes the possibility that many people may have a history of trauma exposure, and how this past or ongoing trauma such as abuse, neglect or food insecurity can shape a person's relationship with food, body and health behaviors. Data show that 64% of adults in the U.S. reported they had experienced at least one type of adverse childhood experience (ACE) before age 18 and nearly one in six adults reported they had experienced four or more types of ACEs. Compared to women with 0 ACEs, women with 4+ ACEs are 62% more likely to have obesity, 41% more likely to report a hypertension diagnosis, and 36% more likely to report a diabetes diagnosis.
