Pastor Mark Jobe says that unless the part of your re-building is renewed spiritually, the rebuilding is only half completed. What it means to be hungry for God... today on Bold Steps. Today we move ahead to the first part of Nehemiah chapter 8 and see how God did a miraculous work in bringing 40-thousand people together who were hungry for Him. In the massive rebuilding effort of Jerusalem, the walls were built, and doors secure, but it was more important that hearts were in the right place before God.Support the show: https://www.moodyradio.org/programs/bold-steps-with-dr-mark-jobe/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In today’s episode, Brandon Moore is back with us to share some practical insights we discussed on setting and establishing goals as church renewal leaders. While the previous episode addressed some misconceptions regarding the charismatic renewal and gifts, this episode spells out some of the concerns and even dangers that our hosts have observed within the charismatic lifestyle. While fear is useless (Mark 5:36), prudence and sometimes caution are necessary in the spiritual journey. This frank discusssion will hopefully address some lingering objections listeners may have, as well as challenge current charismatics to not grow complacent. Some concerns covered include: Celebrity worship Having "a direct pipeline to God" Opening doors to evil spirits Making spiritual experience a measure of authority Abusing the spiritual gifts Spiritual immaturity Worldy aspects of "charismatic culture"
Christians seeking to live their faith more radically encounter many roadblocks, especially as they develop an interest in the spiritual gifts. In this challenging episode, our hosts attempt to address some of the common misconceptions that needlessly discourage Catholics in particular from embracing the charismatic renewal and spiritual gifts. Some objections addressed here include: It's just weird. What if it's fake, and I get deceived? What if it's dangerous or demonic? The saints weren't charismatic, why should I be? Isn't it prideful to ask for supernatural things or talk about them? We're Catholic, and this stuff seems more Protestant/Pentecostal... Charismatics are into progressive music (even "demonic rock music") Don't charismatics believe in a prosperity gospel? If all this crazy stuff is real, how come I haven't heard about it before?

Heidi and Christina share 7 of their favorite mind renewal tools and strategies that they use to think thoughts more in line with God's own thoughts. We all want transformation. Romans 12:2 tells us that we are transformed BY the renewing of our minds. So how do we do that? We want to bring the truth that God has for us home to our lives so we think His thoughts about circumstances, about food, about the holidays, about difficult relationships. Then and only then will we be able to believe what we need to in order to have new desires. These new desires will sustain the changes we long for so that we are changed from the inside out.Join us for our 8 week class starting January 5, 2023. To learn more, please visit this page. One of the things we love is to see the way our redeeming God takes our slips, stumbles, slides, falls, and failures in our eating and uses them to teach us. It's true! Failure no longer needs to define me. Instead, it can teach me. Jesus wastes nothing...not even my mess ups.In this episode, we look at how God responds to the failures of his people. Romans 12:2 says we can be transformed by the renewing of our minds and one of the things we need to think differently about is our failure. What is the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16) about failure? Join us to see!Mind Renewal 101 is a new class Christina and Heidi will be teaching in January and February. Often, people are surprised to hear that reading your bible and praying are not (necessarily) the same as mind renewal. We explain that in this part of our Mind Renewal series. So if reading my bible and praying aren't mind renewal, what IS mind renewal? Christina and Heidi give examples of real life situations so you can see what they are talking about. If you want to go deeper into this topic of mind renewal (the bible promises we can be transformed by the renewing of our minds), please consider praying about joining our Mind Renewal 101 class starting January 5th and going for 8 weeks. In this second of several parts about renewing the mind (Romans 12:2), Heidi and Christina continue the dialog by looking at when a person can renew their minds. Does it require a lengthy "quiet time?" Many of us have such busy lives that this isn't feasible. They talk about snatching opportunities such as driving in the car, waiting on the phone, when in the shower and so many more. If you want to take a deep dive into Mind Renewal, join us for Mind Renewal 101, our newest class that we are piloting in January and February. This is part one in our series about renewing the mind. The bible tells us in Romans 12:2 that we are transformed by the renewing of the mind. In this first of several episodes speaking directly about renewing the mind, Heidi and Christina address what mind renewal is and why it is such a game-changer. At the heart of the discussion is the challenge that emotional eating often presents. There are ways to overcome this challenge and renewing the mind is it!Join us for our 8 week Mind Renewal 101 starting in January 2023. "We are living in stressful and unprecedented times." We have heard that said over the past two years hundreds, if not, thousands of times. However, stressful times have been around ever since there has been more than one human on earth. After Adam and Eve fell the enemy began an intentional and diabolical plan to affect, effect and infect their minds. Mental health has become more and more an issue in our world but also an issue in the Church of Jesus Christ. "These things ought not be." So how do you have a healthy mental state of being? Over the next several weeks Pastor Allen will deal with how we got where we are today and how we are to renew our mind on a regular basis.

Until you look at a specimen under the microscope, you might overlook something that initially seemed insignificant. Once you make a concerted effort to really see the object for what it is, you start to appreciate its intricate details and functions. In the same way, God wants you to truly look at people and see them, see their hurt, their circumstances and not just look past it as if it doesn't exist. Pastor Ricky encourages you today to be effective right where you are, with the people who are right in front of you.
When you have some kind of sickness it can be easier to treat the symptoms but not rid yourself of the disease. It's frustrating because even though you're curing some of the immediate discomforts, you know that there's a deeper issue at the root of it all. This is how it is with the world around you too. There are many grievous hurts and struggles amongst the people that you're around but today Pastor Ricky mentions how important it is to have a heart for people and their deeper need for Jesus. Jesus is the cure.
