In this inaugural episode of the new series "Kingdom Now," Pastor Karl introduces an in-depth journey through the Gospel of Matthew. Titled after Jesus's prayer in Matthew 6, "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven," this series explores the unique perspective of Matthew's Gospel, emphasizing the kingdom of God in an upside-down way that challenges expectations. The episode focuses on Matthew 1:1-17, exploring Jesus's genealogy and its purposeful inclusion of unexpected figures, reinforcing the message that when God writes the story, nothing is a mistake. What if repentance isn't what you think it is?When Jesus began His ministry, His first word was metanoia—often translated as "repent." But this ancient Greek term means far more than turning from sin. It's a complete reorientation of mind, heart, and life toward God's indwelling presence. In this episode, host Donald E. Coleman unpacks the transformative power of "The Turn"—exploring how true spiritual change begins not with behavioral modification, but with a sacred return to your identity in Christ. In this episode, you'll discover:The profound biblical meaning of metanoia and why it's central to spiritual formationHow Jesus' call in Matthew 4 and Paul's teaching in Romans 12 reveal the path to transformationWhy the false self and egoic attachments block your experience of God's restPractical ways to create a daily rhythm of sacred pause and divine reorientationThe difference between religious striving and surrendered presenceThis episode is for you if:You feel stuck in a religious routine or exhausted by spiritual performanceYou're sensing God's invitation to something deeper, but don't know where to startYou want to understand what true transformation looks like beyond behavior changeYou're ready to let go of control and return to the One already waiting for youMetanoia isn't about trying harder—it's about turning toward the presence of God that's already within you. This is your invitation to begin again. Join Donald as he explores how true surrender marks the path toward deeper intimacy with Christ and opens the door to a life formed by God's Agape."Have Questions, Send us a Message" This podcast is a production of The Center for Biblical Coaching and Leadership. Most of our battles begin in the mind. The enemy plants lies that lead to fear, shame, and doubt—but God calls us to be transformed through the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). You'll learn what it means to replace lies with truth, how to reframe your perspective, and five practical steps to reset your thoughts each day. The sermon presents a compelling call to authentic Christian discipleship rooted in the Five Solas of the Reformation, emphasizing that true spiritual transformation is not passive but requires disciplined, intentional effort grounded in Scripture, grace, faith, Christ, and God's glory. It refutes the notion that grace negates effort, asserting instead that grace is the source of our faithful labor, empowering believers to pursue holiness through biblical prayer, the mortification of sin, and active service within the church body. The Bible underscores the necessity of discernment in a world filled with false Christs and counterfeit spiritualities, urging believers to fix their gaze on Christ alone as revealed in the New Testament, not in human traditions or mystical practices. By integrating Scripture, prayer, and genuine community, the sermon calls the church to become a living refutation of cultural skepticism, demonstrating that Christ-likeness is not only possible but transformative when pursued with resolve and dependence on God's grace.
In this episode, Guy welcomed Karen Cheong, an energy healer who brilliantly broke down the complexities of our energy bodies and how trauma affects them. Karen emphasized that one cannot force an awakening on others as it is a personal journey, highlighting the importance of self-awareness and releasing unconscious blocks. The conversation dived deep into understanding the concept of awakening, the role of distortions in our lives, and how transcending these distortions can lead to profound shifts in both spiritual and physical realms. Karen also shed light on the significance of embracing our true infinite selves, and the collective shift in consciousness happening in the world today. About Karen: Karen Cheong is an international transformational speaker, writer, champion for self empowerment, and healer who has worked with thousands of people worldwide. After a health crisis in her early 20s catalysed her spiritual journey, she was driven by curiosity to explore the mystical and energetic systems that govern our experience—of ourselves, of others, and of life itself. For over 25 years she integrated and applied deep inner work and learnings from some of the top names in the personal development space, as well as some of the more “out there” spiritual teachers, to a successful real estate business in San Francisco, California. Despite the outward appearance of success, though, she still felt like something was missing—and that is when what she refers to as “frequency work” discovered her. By intensively releasing unconscious blocks she calls distortion patterns, she transformed not only the way her life looked, but the way her life felt. Momentum really started kicking in, and life became so much richer, so much fuller, and so much more expansive. During a life-changing 9 hour meditation she experienced a complete ego-death, fully merging back into the Oneness, where everything is inextricably interconnected. Ever since that pivotal experience, she has been able to perceive and make change at “frequency level,” the level of vibration that's like the blueprint that underlies our reality. Are you exhausted from trying to be a “better Christian,” follow all the rules, or just fix yourself? In this episode, Heather Creekmore dives into the age-old dilemma every believer faces: Am I supposed to be working on me—and if so, how much of it is up to me, and how much is God’s job? Inspired by the Crowder song “He’s Working on Me Still,” Heather explores the difference between self-powered striving and Spirit-powered transformation. Using honest stories, biblical wisdom (especially from Galatians 5), and practical illustrations, she helps Christian women understand why hustling for holiness leaves us tired—and how true freedom and growth comes when we move from “I’m working on me” to “He’s working on me.” In This Episode: Why spiritual striving, religious rule-following, and willpower can’t bring long-term freedom How diet culture mindsets sneak into our faith and make us rely on formulas instead of God What it means to step out of the driver’s seat and let God be in control (with relatable analogies and humor) The power of relationship over religion and why faith is more than just “doing all the things” How to recognize if your spiritual life is based on head knowledge, not heart transformation Practical steps to move from self-reliance to Spirit-dependence—including honest reflection questions and the importance of daily worship Key Takeaway:Stop striving for self-improvement and start leaning into God’s grace. When we let go of self-reliance and invite the Holy Spirit to lead, we experience true rest, freedom, and lasting spiritual growth. We are called to the pursuit of spiritual transformation. In contrast to the spiritual formation movement the biblical, apostolic way of Biblical doctrine produces real change. While the spiritual formation movement correctly identifies the goal of becoming Christ-like, it errs in drawing from non-biblical traditions like mysticism and asceticism, instead of relying on Scripture and the five solas of the Reformation. Genuine change arises from faith in God's Word, disciplined effort, and grace, rather than subjective experiences or man-made rules, as we call for a return to the foundational teachings of the New Testament for lasting spiritual growth and discipleship.

God's rest isn't about inactivity but about living under His reign. Biblical rest encompasses five stages: Eden, the Tabernacle, Solomon's Temple, the Church, and ultimately the New Creation. When we misunderstand rest as merely 'turning off,' we miss that God's rest and reign are inseparable. We step out of this rest when we follow fleshly desires, engage in religious activities from wrong motives, or prioritize appearances over authentic godliness. True rest comes from living under God's authority, experiencing His presence, and anticipating His promised future. The peace we desperately seek isn't found in our chaotic world but in submission to Christ.Biblical rest is not inactivity but living under God's reign and authority.God's rest and His reign cannot be separated - wherever God rests, He also reigns.Humanity was created to live from God's rest, not for rest. When we live outside God's rest and reign, both individuals and society decay. What was lost in Eden will be restored in the new creation, giving us hope for the future.Support the show

On Shifting Culture, we often ask: what does it mean to follow Jesus in the complexity of our world? In this episode, John Fugelsang helps us press into that question with clarity and urgency. John is a comedian, actor, and political commentator shaped by the unlikely pairing of parents who were once a nun and a Franciscan brother. His new book, Separation of Church and Hate, takes an unflinching look at how fundamentalism and nationalism have twisted Christianity into a pursuit of power. With sharp wit and thoughtful insight, John contrasts that distortion with the radical humility and compassion of Jesus - the one who welcomed the stranger, lifted up women, broke cycles of violence, and modeled a way beyond empire. This conversation is provocative and grounding, inviting us to imagine how the way of Jesus might still break the cycles of fear and hate in our time.John Fugelsang has been killed on CSI, picketed by Westboro Baptist Church, and hosts the acclaimed series "Tell Me Everything" on SiriusXM #127. He's been a regular on CNN, MSNBC & FOX News, appears in Coyote Ugly, hosted America's Funniest Home Videos once got George Harrison to give his final performance on VH1. He's the child of an ex-nun and an ex-Franciscan brother, and his book SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND HATE: A Sane Person's Guide to Taking Back the Bible from Fundamentalists, Fascists and Flock Fleecing Frauds releases from Simon & Schuster in Summer 2025.John's Book:Separation of Church and HateJohn's Recommendation:SupermanSubscribe to Our Substack: Shifting CultureConnect with Joshua: jjohnson@allnations.usGo to www.shiftingculturepodcast.com to interact and donate. Welcome to a heartfelt and transformative episode of Compared to Who?! Today, Heather Creekmore gets real, sharing a sincere apology and a powerful re-focus for the community. If you’ve been on a journey of body image struggles or striving for personal freedom, this episode will meet you right where you are. Episode Summary:Heather shares how she’s been convicted about how she’s focused on the roots of body image issues over the past few seasons, particularly focusing too much on intellectual understanding and analysis. Using the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5-6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” — Heather shares how she’s issuing a fresh call to the freedom that doesn’t come from unraveling the origins of our issues, but from surrendering to Christ, being discipled, and letting Jesus heal and transform every part of us. Key Insights from This Episode: The Power of Surrender: Understanding why we struggle with body image isn’t the path to freedom; surrendering to Christ is. Shift from Self-Help to Discipleship: Heather unpacks the biblical idea of discipleship — growing to be more like Jesus — as the most effective way to address body image battles and find lasting satisfaction. Freedom Beyond Understanding: Instead of searching for intellectual solutions or falling into endless self-analysis, this episode encourages letting God into the healing process and allowing your heart (not just your head) to be transformed. Counter to Cultural Messages: Heather warns against both secular and “Christian” body positivity messages that focus on self-pride and fixing your exterior, reminding us that Scripture leads us to humility and dependence on Christ. Living with Satisfaction: Drawing from Matthew 5:6 and Philippians 3-4, she explores the true path to satisfaction in life and body image, which is found only in hungering and thirsting for righteousness through a relationship with Jesus. Navigating new seasons in our spiritual journey requires strength and courage, just as Joshua needed when leading Israel into the Promised Land. Growth often brings discomfort, but it's necessary for spiritual maturity. To successfully navigate these transitions, we must keep God's Word in our mouths, speaking life rather than complaints, and follow His presence even into unfamiliar territory. God sometimes ends one provision (like the manna) to move us toward something better. These challenging transitions are actually opportunities for deeper maturity and fruitfulness in our faith journey.Keep the Bible in your mouth - what we speak matters, especially during times of change and growth.Follow God's presence - just as the Israelites followed the Ark of the Covenant, we need to be led by the Spirit rather than our own preferences. When spiritual practices feel dry or stale, it may be God's way of pushing you into a new season of growth.Growth and change are often uncomfortable but necessary for spiritual maturity. Our faith is meant to be lived in community, not in isolation.Support the show

In this insightful episode of the Compared to Who? podcast, host Heather Creekmore welcomes bestselling author, speaker, and Bible teacher Lisa Whittle to discuss her new book, Body and Soul, and the powerful concept of "whole body theology." Together, they delve into the intersection of faith and body image, explore what it means to have a biblical foundation for how we view our bodies, and confront the complicated journey many Christians face with body image and self-worth. Key Points & Takeaways: Whole Body Theology Defined:Lisa shares her journey into developing a “whole body theology” — a comprehensive, biblical belief system that addresses our entire personhood (body, soul, and spirit). This theology is designed to give believers a scriptural foundation for making body-related decisions, rather than relying solely on diet culture or secular self-esteem movements. The Need for a Biblical Approach:Both Heather and Lisa highlight the shortcomings of how the Church often compartmentalizes spiritual and physical health, or accidentally echoes secular body positivity without offering a theological alternative. Lisa asserts that lasting body image peace is grounded in spiritual transformation and discipleship, not just new diets or positive mantras. Personal Body Image Stories:Lisa vulnerably recounts her own "complicated" story with body image, including familial pressures, diet culture, and early struggles with eating disorders. She reveals how the truth of Scripture and God’s view of her body brought genuine freedom, something diets and cultural messages never provided. Discipleship Around Body Image:The conversation stresses the Church’s responsibility to disciple believers in whole body theology, integrating faith and embodied life. Lisa advocates for developing a framework where everyday choices with food, movement, rest, and even work are filtered through the lens of glorifying God. Misuse of Scripture in Body Image:Common verses like “your body is a temple” or “fearfully and wonderfully made” are often misapplied, leading to shame, diet obsession, or misunderstanding. True whole body theology digs deeper into Scripture for a holistic, grace-filled perspective rather than cherry-picking verses to fit societal standards. Rejecting Judgement & Assumptions:Both speakers caution against judging others' bodies from the outside or assuming someone's spiritual health by body size. Such partiality is unbiblical and harmful, and they call for more compassion and understanding within the Church community. Dangers of Diet and Body Positivity Culture:Lisa and Heather warn against simply swinging from diet culture to secular body positivity without a biblical root. They challenge listeners not to accept cultural solutions but to pursue God’s truth for genuine freedom and transformation. About Lisa’s Bible Study (Body and Soul):Lisa explains how her new six-week Bible study walks individuals or groups through the process of building a whole body theology. With videos, scripture dives, reflection questions, and practical steps, participants learn to draw their body beliefs from Scripture—not from culture. Practical Encouragements: Lasting body image freedom comes from aligning your beliefs about your body with God’s Word, not with fleeting diets or positive slogans. True discipleship includes how we steward, honor, and view our physical selves as integral to spiritual life. It’s time for the Church and its people to lead—not follow—in honest, compassionate, gospel-oriented conversations about body image.
