We have no way of responding unless you leave your email.Have you ever felt pressure to perform, produce, and push through exhaustion? In this soul-refreshing conversation, Ellen is joined by her daughter Taylor Krause (Coffee and Bible Time co-creator) to explore the transformative practice of Sabbath rest—a discipline that's increasingly counter-cultural yet desperately needed.Together, they unpack the biblical foundations of Sabbath, exploring how God himself modeled rest after creation and how Jesus regularly withdrew from ministry demands to pray and recharge. This isn't just theological theory—it's a life-giving invitation that addresses our modern epidemic of burnout and digital distraction.Taylor vulnerably shares her own struggles with technology addiction and the sobering reality that the average person spends ten years of their life on screens. What might happen if we reclaimed even a fraction of that time for true rest? The mother-daughter duo offers practical wisdom for distinguishing between genuine restoration and the false rest offered by endless scrolling, streaming, and shopping.Whether you're a busy parent wondering how Sabbath is even possible or someone searching for deeper connection with God, this episode provides both challenge and encouragement. Ellen and Taylor address the dangers of legalism, offer practical tips for different life seasons, and ultimately point to Jesus' invitation in Matthew 11: "Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest."Ready to experience the transformative power of true rest? In this powerful message, we're reminded of the transformative power of surrendering to God's plan for our lives. The sermon delves into Psalm 127, written by Solomon, which teaches us that unless the Lord builds the house, our efforts are in vain. We're encouraged to shift from a life of striving and anxiety to one of rest in God's presence. The imagery of arrows in a warrior's hands illustrates how we are positioned and purposed by God for specific targets in our world. This isn't about passivity, but about recognizing our strength comes from being in God's hands.Get the Preach notes: https://linccollective.co/2025/03/23/an-invested-life-is-a-rested-life/The Ascent - Week Two: 0:00 The Psalms of Ascent10:49 God's Investment in Us17:36 Surrendering to God's PlanConnect with us:Website: http://lincchurch.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/lincchurchFacebook: https://facebook.com/lincchurchTwitter: https://twitter.com/lincchurchPodcast: https://apple.co/2Jx8wG0#LINCchurch #LINC To support this ministry financially and help us continue to reach people all around the world click here: https://lincchurch.com/give

Send us a textWitness the awe-inspiring power of creation as we journey through the profound narrative of Genesis 1:31 to 2:4. Explore the breathtaking moment when God declared His creation "very good," a testament to its original perfection and harmony. With insights from S. M. Lockridge, we're reminded of the divine majesty that fashioned the universe from nothing, challenging us to reflect deeply on God's omnipotence. We also engage with Dr. Henry Morris's perspectives from "The Genesis Record," which offers a biblical lens on the fossil record, suggesting a world before death or disease, and contrasting this with conventional geological theories.Join us as we unravel the significance of the Toledoth subscripts in Genesis, tracing the genealogies of the patriarchs and the universe itself. This exploration highlights the divine revelation of creation completed by the sixth day, setting a clear distinction from evolutionary theories. As we conclude, take a moment to connect with the Jackson Family Ministry, where spiritual guidance and community await. With the great Saquon debate settled, the focus shifts to the Wild Card Round at the Linc, in which either Green Bay or Washington will be coming to town. Jalen Hurts should be out of the concussion protocol by then and the rested Birds will have a shot to make their run at another Super Bowl on the heels of a record-setting season, in multiple regards. After their bye a full 3 months ago, they will get a much-needed reprieve in the season finale, with the 3-13 NY Giants coming in for a glorified preseason game. We'll get to see Tanner McKee and the backups take on one of the league's worst teams to close out the regular season. The NFC is wide open and the Eagles may be the most complete team, from top to bottom. Hello to you listening in Stockholm, Sweden!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.I have walked, bathed and rested in many forests. Some with trees 300 or 400 years old. Others, less mature. Trees are wise in ways that can't be taught. As mortals perhaps the best we can do is wander among them in sacred silence, listen, learn, revere, and sustain these  forested communities.Hermann Hesse wrote: “For me, trees have always been the most penetrating preachers. I revere them when I live in tribes and families, in forests and groves. And even more I revere them when they stand alone. They are like lonely persons. Not like hermits who have stolen away out of some weakness, but like great, solitary men, like Beethoven and Nietzsche. In their highest boughs the world rustles, their roots rest in infinity; but they do not lose themselves there, they struggle with all the force of their lives for one thing only: to fulfill themselves according to their own laws, to build up their own form, to represent themselves.... Whoever has learned to listen to trees no longer wants to be one. He wants to be nothing except who he is.”BONUS: Click to access the pdf: Trees: An Anthology of Writings and PaintingsYou're always invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, would you subscribe and spread the word with a generous 5-star review and comment - it helps us all - and join us next time!Meanwhile, stop by my Quarter Moon Story Arts website to:✓ Check out Services I Offer,✓ Arrange your no-sales, Complimentary Coaching Consult,✓ Stay current with Diane as “Wyzga on Words” on Substack and on LinkedInStories From Women Who Walk Production TeamPodcaster: Diane F Wyzga & Quarter Moon Story ArtsMusic: Mer's Waltz from Crossing the Waters by Steve Schuch & Night Heron MusicAll content and image © 2019 to Present Quarter Moon Story Arts. Imagine a mom who decided to have her child a bit later in life. She's built a career, a life she's proud of, and now, with her child in the picture, her priorities have shifted to focus on being there for the long haul. She's not just aiming to add years to her life but to feel energized and healthy—able to show up fully for her family and her business, now and for years to come. But there's one hurdle that keeps her from living that vision: sleep. Almost every night, she lies awake, thinking about her family's future, overanalyzing the day, running through endless lists, and planning for what's next. And despite her best intentions, these sleepless nights leave her feeling drained, worn down, and struggling to keep up with the demands of her day. Sound familiar? It's a story that so many of us can relate to—feeling constantly pulled between doing more, being there for everyone, and somehow still running on empty. In today's minisode of my podcast, I talk about how this pattern of sleeplessness can become a serious health concern and how one mom fixed this concern real-time by attending one of my free offerings this last summer so that you can too!  Why am I releasing these minisodes? Over the last 13 years, I've found that my highest-performing clients are those who prioritize their health. They understand that to imagine their best lives or careers, they first need a limitless source of energy—and that energy reserve comes from focusing on four key pillars: nutrition, exercise, sleep, and emotional well-being. This realization inspired me to create these minisodes, each packed with ideas to support you as a leader, whether in the office or at home. And because I know that taking an honest look at where we stand is easier with someone fearless about accountability, I'm offering you, my podcast listener, a free 30-minute energy audit. There's no catch, no sales pitch—just a chance to help you assess where you are and how to boost your energy. Take advantage of this opportunity to see what this podcast can do for you, and let's work together to support the life you imagine. Sign-up by 11/15 - https://www.melissallarena.com/sessions/ In a free, 30-minute Energy Audit session, I'll help you uncover exactly where you're losing energy and how small, strategic adjustments in areas like nutrition, exercise, emotions, and sleep can make a meaningful difference. Imagine how it would feel to: Sleep restfully, waking up ready to face the day Run your business with focus and clarity Be present and energized with your family This isn't about a full lifestyle overhaul but about finding sustainable solutions that work for you and your lifestyle. Episode II of The Stress Series: The Somatic Stress Scale Explained - How to Identify and Manage Your Stress  Hello, everyone! It's fantastic to be back this week as we dive into the next part of our series on stress. In our first episode, we explored the physiological response to stress and discussed how stress itself isn't inherently bad. However, too much stress can lead to negative physiological responses. Today, we're going to delve deeper into managing stress by introducing a powerful tool: the stress scale. In this episode, Dr. Ali Novitsky, obesity medicine expert and exercise guru, guides listeners through the concept of the stress scale, a tool inspired by Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). This episode explores how this scale can help identify and manage stress levels effectively. With the stress scale, it's not just about numbers; it's about recognizing the unique symptoms experienced at various stress levels and using that awareness to improve interpersonal relationships and overall well-being. To illustrate the impact of stress on daily life, Dr. Novitsky shares a personal story about her dog, whose schedule gets thrown off after boarding. This leads to early morning wake-ups and disrupted sleep, contributing to increased stress levels for Dr. Novitsky herself. This relatable story highlights how seemingly small, everyday events can impact our stress scale and overall state of well-being. The stress scale ranges from 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest level of stress and 10 the highest. Here's a quick look at each level: 1: Complete relaxation, like a sun-induced daze on a beach. 2: Rested state with mild thoughts and feelings, without significant decisions. 3: Awareness and light social interaction, maybe a casual conversation. 4: Decision-making and more body movement, actively engaged. 5: Potential conflict with noticeable fidgeting and body movements. 6: Sarcasm, signaling a desire to disengage socially. 7: Physiological symptoms like a higher heart rate and faster breathing. 8: Reactivity with out-of-proportion responses to minor triggers. 9: Isolation and complete avoidance of social interactions. 10: Extreme stress, leading to yelling and strong emotional expression. Creating a personalized somatic stress scale requires time and mindfulness. Dr. Novitsky recommends using a piece of paper labeled 1 through 10 and noting specific symptoms at each level. Involving a partner can make this process even more insightful, as they can observe and help identify behaviors that may go unnoticed. Understanding your stress scale helps manage stress effectively: 7 or above: Use distraction techniques to lower stress levels. 4 to 6: Employ daily emotional regulation tools to stay productive. 4 or below: Focus on rest and recovery to recharge. Are you waking up feeling exhausted—even after a full night's sleep?  It's one of the top complaints I hear from women and something I've personally struggled with, too. Which can be especially frustrating when you know you're doing everything else right. You're eating clean. Walking after meals. Taking supplements…  So, what else could be causing it? Meet your circadian rhythm (aka your biological clock).  In this episode, I sat down with award-winning science journalist and circadian rhythm expert, Lynne Peeples—to help you get to the bottom of your morning sluggishness and start waking up energized. Lynne shared powerful tips from her new book (The Inner Clock) about how simple daily habits—like getting morning light and avoiding late meals—can reset your internal clock, balance hormones, and give you all-day energy.  We also discussed the importance of wearables—with specific recommendations for optimizing your body's natural rhythms.  Tune in for the crucial steps you NEED to take to reset your circadian rhythm and feel better today!  IN THIS EPISODE Why circadian rhythm matters for women's health, especially during perimenopause How morning light exposure sets your biological clock for the day The role of consistency in sleep, eating times, and daily routines for optimal health Why time-restricted eating and meal timing matter for your metabolism Practical ways to dim lights, avoid screens, and create an evening routine that supports sleep The impact of alcohol on your circadian rhythm and sleep quality Lynne's personal experiences and what she learned from tracking her internal clock Visit podcast episode here: https://drmariza.com/episode599 QUOTES “Circadian rhythms affect so much more than just sleep. They're tied to our hormones, metabolism, mood, and even our gut health. Keeping these rhythms in sync can make a world of difference for your overall well-being.” "Getting outside within the first couple hours of waking up is key. Just 10 to 15 minutes of natural light—even on a cloudy day—helps set your circadian rhythm and sets you up for better sleep that night."  "Our digestive system is tied to our biological clock. Eating late at night spikes your blood sugar more, raises your core temperature, and disrupts sleep. Keeping meals within a 10-hour window—earlier in the day—helps support metabolism and balance."  “Morning light is critical for setting your internal clock. Even on cloudy days, get outside—natural light is still much stronger than indoor light and it helps you stay in sync with your body's natural rhythm.” "The consistency piece is huge—eating, sleeping, and exercising at the same time every day. That keeps your body's clocks in sync and makes it easier to fall asleep, wake up refreshed, and maintain your energy throughout the day."  RESOURCES MENTIONED Lynne's book: The Inner Clock: Living in Sync with Our Circadian Rhythms Lynne's Website  Register for FREE in my upcoming Thriving in Perimenopause & Menopause Summit.
