Colin and I just spent two nights at Bolt Farm Treehouse and I'll be honest… I can't turn the hospitality side of my brain off. If you're in the short-term rental or boutique hotel world, you already know their story. It's talked about a lot. But this episode isn't about the hype. It's about what it actually feels like to check in as a guest at a high-end brand everyone admires. What surprised me. What impressed me. What made me pause. Because here's the truth: not everything was perfect. There was a last-minute room switch. An "all-inclusive" experience that wasn't fully inclusive for dietary needs. A few small design and communication hiccups. And yet… it still worked. We still left feeling connected. Rested. Thought about. Why? Because the welcome was strong. The intention was clear. The storytelling was emotional. From the curated in-room upgrades to the cocktail hour experience to the way they invited guests into something bigger than just a place to sleep, there were so many moments that reminded me what hospitality is actually about. In this episode, I break down: ➡️What they did exceptionally well ➡️Where clarity and alignment could have been stronger ➡️What "all-inclusive" really needs to mean ➡️How guest flow impacts shared spaces like wellness areas ➡️Why appealing to all five senses changes everything And the biggest takeaway? Your property does not have to be flawless to be unforgettable. Excellence isn't perfection. It's thoughtfulness. It's alignment. It's making sure the experience you promise is the experience your guest actually walks into. If you're building a micro-resort, refining your STR, or dreaming about something bigger, this one will challenge you in the best way. Let's get into it. After a wild few weeks, Nikki & Brie are back on the mics, just the two of them. And there's so much to catch up about. From food poisoning and feeling like they had mono to realizing that their 20-year-old recovery days are officially behind them, the twins get real about burnout and listening to your body when it's screaming “rest.” They also dive into their Valentine's Day details, why they're not stressing about Super Bowl landing on February 14 next year, and the sweet and sometimes chaotic magic of motherhood. From Matteo's whale-watching adventure and Cathay Pacific obsession to Buddy's umbrella chivalry and Birdie giving up Taylor Swift for Lent, it's a full family catch-up with an unexpected grammar debate about “fish vs. fishes.” As they reflect on evolution, quiet eras, horsepower energy, and what it means to bloom where you're planted, Nikki & Brie leave you with a reminder to protect your peace and choose environments that water you instead of run you dry. How do we afford to take a family vacation every year—without being rich, bougie, or living the “vineyard mom” lifestyle? We just got back from an 8-day Mexican Riviera cruise, and for the second year in a row, we came home actually feeling rested. Not exhausted. Not needing a vacation from our vacation. Rested. That alone felt like a miracle. In this episode, I'm breaking down exactly how we budget, plan, and prioritize travel with kids—from Disney on a shoestring, to cheap Mexico trips, to why we now plan about $5k a year for bigger family vacations. I'm sharing the real-life, not-glamorous strategies: old cars, simple hotels, grocery store meals, souvenir budgets, and why rest days save both your sanity and your money. We also talk about the idea from the book Die With Zero—that money isn't just for saving, it's for building a life full of memories while you're healthy enough to enjoy them.If you've ever thought, “Must be nice… but we could never afford that,” this episode is for you. You don't need a luxury budget—you need a plan, priorities, and a little creativity.
At the end of the creation account, God rests. In the giving of the Ten Commandments, He commands us to rest, too. Why is it significant that God rested? How does our obedience to the fourth commandment help us understand our creatureliness? No matter how we observe the Sabbath and keep it holy, Kevin reminds us that true rest is only found in Jesus Christ.

Preaching: Mr. Shaw "God...Rested on the Seventh Day" XI. Genesis Genesis 1:31-2:3
In a world that celebrates constant productivity and relentless busyness, many of us find ourselves exhausted, distracted, and spiritually depleted. We don't stop working because we hate the destination—we stop because we've run out of fuel. In this message, Pastor Tom VanAntwerp invites us to rediscover one of God's most overlooked and life-giving gifts: the Sabbath. From the opening pages of Scripture, we see that rest is not an afterthought—it is woven into creation itself. God works, and then God rests. Not because He is tired, but because rest completes good work. And as people made in God's image, we are invited to live into that same rhythm. This sermon explores how Sabbath is far more than taking a day off or catching up on sleep. True Sabbath is an intentional entering into the rest of God—a rest that restores our souls, realigns our priorities, and reshapes our understanding of who we are. In this message, you'll reflect on: Why rest is essential to faithful and sustainable work The biblical rhythm of work and rest (the 6–1 pattern) Why stopping work doesn't always mean we are truly rested How Sabbath helps us rediscover delight, trust “enough,” and remember God's story over the world's stories How Jesus Himself modeled rhythms of prayerful rest in the midst of demanding ministry Sabbath reminds us that we are not defined by productivity, success, or output. We are image-bearers before we are workers. Loved before we are useful. Rested before we are sent. If you feel burned out… If life feels hurried and noisy… If your work has started shaping your identity more than God's grace… This message is an invitation to slow down, trust God more deeply, and live your life—and your work—out of a place of rest.
Send us a textWhat if the flood didn't solve the problem it seemed designed to wash away? We walk through Genesis 8 and discover a world drying out under God's command while eight sinners step into sunlight with the same hearts they had before the storm. “God remembered Noah” becomes a banner for renewed action, not divine forgetfulness, and the wind over the waters invites us to hear creation's echo: order returning at the word of the Lord.We unpack the timelines that often blur in memory — forty days of rain, one hundred and fifty days of prevailing waters, a full year in the ark — and let Psalm 104 narrate what happened next: mountains rising, valleys sinking, boundaries set so the seas would not swallow the earth again. Along the way, we explore why the first act after the ark's door opens is sacrifice, because new ground requires atonement, not optimism. The ark itself becomes a vivid picture of Christ: laboring through judgment's waves, delivering a people, then resting. That rest, dated to the seventeenth day of the seventh month, draws a line toward resurrection hope and the final word spoken from the cross: “It is finished.”This conversation stays honest about the struggle believers face. Salvation is secure, yet the battle with the flesh continues, the world beckons, and the adversary prowls. Demas' love of the present age is a warning and a mirror. We offer practical encouragement to resist steadfastly, worship gratefully, and read the Bible's details as invitations to trust, not trivia to file away. The God who commands the waters still draws clear boundaries around our fears and failures, and the living Word stands as our true ark when lesser boats fall apart. If this episode strengthens your faith or opens new questions, tap follow, share it with a friend who loves Scripture, and leave a quick review so others can find the show. In this week's episode, I talk about things that we do to numb our feelings vs things that we do that bring us true comfort. I define what these two things are- numbing helps us NOT feel our feelings (not good) vs true comfort helps us restore and nourish ourselves, and be more resilient in the long term! But the difficulty in this is that ANYTHING we do can be for numbing or true comfort, so I can't just give you a list of "true comfort" 2 do's and send you on your way. I give a few examples of some things that I have had to tweak a bit to give me more comfort than numbing (TV, alcohol, etc.), a few things that only bring me true comfort (writing in my journal, going for walks) and things that I pretty much only do for numbing (Nutella spoons, sadly). Action item: when you are doing an activity, pause during (or after) and assess how you feel- do you feel like you wasted your time/that you wish you had stopped earlier? Probably numbing. Or, do you feel-better? Rested, calm, like what you did just helped you? Then it's true comfort!

How do you know if you're actually resting… or just checking out?In today's Dad Tired Daily, Jerrad talks about the difference between restorative, soul-level rest and numbing behaviors that help us escape but don't actually restore us.Most men aren't lazy — they're tired. And when we don't know how to rest, we reach for things that temporarily quiet the noise but leave us more exhausted the next day. This episode will help you:Discern rest vs. numbing in everyday lifeUnderstand why numbing works short-term but drains you long-termLearn what real, boring, restorative rest actually looks likePractice a simple way to help your soul slow downInspired by Psalm 23 and Jesus' invitation to rest.Rested men lead their families well.

Drawing from military training, Scripture, and real life as a husband and dad, he unpacks why exhaustion quietly undermines our leadership at home and how learning to rest can actually protect the mission God has given us.You'll hear:Why elite military teams train themselves to rest under pressureHow exhaustion impacts your decisions, presence, and relationshipsWhy Jesus prioritizes rest for weary menA simple, practical “micro-Sabbath” you can practice anywhere, anytimeThis isn't about doing less because you don't care. It's about resting on purpose so you can lead well.Key Scripture:Matthew 11:28 — “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Simple Practice:Take one minute today. You're getting enough sleep - seven, maybe eight hours - and you're still exhausted. In this conversation, I'm joined by Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, physician and author of The Seven Types of Rest, to talk about why sleep alone doesn't fix burnout, mental overload, or that constant feeling of being drained. We unpack the difference between sleep and rest, why so many high-achieving women feel tired even when they're “doing everything right,” and how exhaustion often comes from the places in life where you're pouring out without restoring. This isn't about adding another habit or fixing your bedtime routine. It's about noticing where your energy is going, and what it actually takes to feel rested again.Resources Mentioned:Rest quiz: https://www.restquiz.com/home-page/Free Calm Mind Blueprint: http://www.samanthapenkoff.com/calm-mind-podEpisode 15 about the 7 Types of Rest: https://pod.link/1651843607/episode/S2FqYWJpLTIxNDc4NTMyMjcConnect with Dr. Saundra:Learn more about Dr. Saundra: DrDaltonSmith.com Dr. Saundra's Website: https://ichoosemybestlife.com/ Linked In: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drdaltonsmith/Work with me:Breakthrough Intensive - You already know you should slow down, delegate more, stop overcommitting. Feast Series: Rested | Talk 7: Rest in God's Love by The Feast Radio
This is the fourth episode of our seven-week series, RESTED. Talk 1, titled Rest, established that there's a great pandemic going on, called Overworking but Underliving. Talk 2, titled Work, is the antidote to this pandemic: the Sabbath—which bestows two essential blessings: 1) a rhythm of rest; and 2) a rhythm of relationship. The key message: God wants to work with you. Talk 3, titled Time, gives God's good schedule for us to have a good time for work and rest. The key message: Follow God's Rhythm of Restoration. Talk 4, titled Jubilee, points out that Sabbath gives us time and space to remember our core identity—that we're the Beloved of God. The key message is: Remember who you are.
Here's a review of the amazing lessons we've learned so far: Humanity has a problem and it's huge: Overworking but underliving. And God has the antidote. It's called Shabbat—a rhythm of rest and relationship. Last week, we learned that in the Bible, there were four Sabbath practices: (1) the weekly Sabbath; (2) seven annual festivals; (3) the Sabbath Year; and (4) the Jubilee Year. And the biggest Sabbath is the Jubilee where three phenomenal things happen: (1) all debts are erased; (2) all slaves are released; and (3) all lands are returned to their original owners. It's pretty radical. So, the goal is about ending poverty, creating abundance for all, and building a community of equals—with Jesus as King. The Sabbath is much more than taking a vacation—It's about bringing people back to the abundance of the Garden. Talk 5 is about Jesus, how He declared that He is the Messiah, created His Jubilee Team– and included us as part of the team. The key message: Your Jubilee has begun.
This is the third installment of our ongoing Feast Talk series, RESTED. Talk 1, titled Rest, established that there's a great pandemic going on, called Overworking but Underliving. The antidote is the Sabbath– which bestows two essential blessings: (1) a rhythm of rest; and (2) a rhythm of relationship. To appreciate the Sabbath, we must study about work. This was Talk 2, with the key message:God wants to work with you. So, God gave us a good schedule where we can have a good time for work and for rest. This is the topic of Talk 3, yes, titled Time. The key message is:Follow God's Rhythm of Restoration.
This is the second installment of our brand-new Feast Talk series, RESTED. The key message of Talk 2 is God wants to work with you.
We open today our brand-new series: RESTED. This is a 7-Talk course that will save your life and family. Warning: Your lifestyle today may be destroying, little by little, your health, your joy, your inner peace, your family, and your relationship with God. This series will wake you up before it's too late and shift your direction. The key message: Let God be God.

You'll learn how to take care of yourself first, focus on what really moves the needle, and make space for the people and moments that matter most.By the end, you'll stop just surviving your days and start living them on purpose.Support the show

Neil and Tommo are back from the bye week, rested and ready to look back on the season so far and mull over what's needed for the Chiefs to make a playoff run.
The holidays can feel like a full-contact sport: less daylight, more demands, and an endless push to perform joy on cue. We're flipping that script. Heather shares a clear, compassionate plan to move through the season rooted and rested—anchored in what matters, nourished by simple food, and protected by boundaries that keep your peace intact. We start with energy: why the time change hits hard, how a full-spectrum “happy light” can help mood and sleep, and the mindset shift that turns rest from a reward into a prerequisite. From there, we get practical about family dynamics. Think of it like your emotional grocery list—what you'll give, what you won't, and where you'll refill when conversations go sideways. You'll hear scripts to defuse food policing and politics, plus ways to step out of old roles without igniting new drama.Food gets simple and sane. Eat breakfast for steady blood sugar, build a plate with color and protein, hydrate to protect energy, and let go of guilt so one meal doesn't erase a month of care. We talk about realistic holiday nutrition, not diet rules—just small moves that keep you out of the crash-and-crave cycle. And because comfort starts in the kitchen, Heather invites you to a free live cooking class: a restorative, beginner-friendly soup that proves dinner can be calm, cozy, and fast.Want support that isn't noisy or salesy?
