Stephen Christopher from Seequs.com wants to help you with your organic search results, pay per click advertising, and web design. Choose the top one to three objectives for your website: that's usually for your hot, warm, and cold leads. For example, your hottest prospects who want to buy right now could be looking for a phone number, the warm leads might fill out a contact form to request service, and the cold leads might only want to signup for a video or short report. Don't take anything for granted, be super persistent (failure leads to perspective). Change the "bad" things about your business. Stephen Christopher Jaime Jay welcomes Stephen Christopher to today's podcast. Stephen is a technology marketing expert, who founded Seequs Digital Marketing. Before starting Seequs, he started other award-winning businesses. He's learned a lot of lessons from his many years of experience, and seeks to help businesses thrive. Tune in to learn how you can overcome challenges in business! Off a Good Start Stephen currently focuses on working at Seequs, his own digital marketing company. Second to that, he has his hands focused on his newly established podcast, Biz Revolution. In both companies, Stephen just intends to build a community of people that he can help using his experiences, or those under his circle of influence that might have some good insights for entrepreneurs and business owners. He started doing business when he was 14 years old. That time, he started a mobile car detailing company. The funny thing was he didn't know how to drive, so he let people drive their cars to him when they wanted his services. Stephen learned good sales through that experience. From Employee to Employer Stephen never really knew he was an entrepreneur. His parents encouraged him to go to college and get the good things in life afterwards. He worked while he was in college, however, he eventually realized that he didn't like working for people. In every job that he had, he made sure that he did the best thing possible while doing it. He took every minute he had and used it correctly. He would do anything to occupy his time, and kept track of what he would do next. One day you're going to be the business owner, and somebody's gonna do the exact same thing to you.” –Stephen Christopher Stephen shares the fact that at some point in time, somebody will leave to start a new business. He believed in karma, a principle stating that your actions can influence your future. If he did not treat someone well, he believed that the same person will not treat him well also in the future. Learning from Failure Before starting Seequs, Stephen started a mortgage company which primarily focused on investors. However, their funding eventually started to deplete. Since most of their client owned 4 to 15 companies, loans just became unavailable overnight. You can fail completely in a lot of different ways, but you never actually fail as long as you learn something from that experience.” –Stephen Christopher About 72 hours after seeing one of their clients' company close, they stopped doing business. He was left with a lot of debt. This gave him a lot of lessons. Stephen shares that being at the absolute bottom isn't as bad as we think it is. Today I'm joined by a man who went from profitable to over $100,000 of debt in the 2008 crash, but used it as an opportunity to restructure his thinking, and start focusing on value. Welcome to DMR, Stephen Christopher. [You can find Stephen over at Seequs.com.] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pH01uuOsE5A On this episode of Digital Marketing Radio we discuss the importance of online reviews, with topics including: Are online reviews important for any business? And where are the most important places for customers to be leaving reviews? How do you persuade a satisfied customer to leave a review? What makes a really effective, believable review? What would you say to a business thinking of faking a few reviews? Do you find that reviews can positively impact SEO? Is it possible to discourage people from leaving a negative review? What if you have a negative review that you believe to be unjust? What are your thoughts on how online reviews might evolve in the future? And here's the article Stephen mentioned on how to get false reviews removed from Yelp. [Tweet ""Just take the time and do it right." @StephenMChris"] Software I couldn't live without What software do you currently use in your business that if someone took away from you, it would significantly impact your marketing success? SEMRush [Competitor tracking & keyword research] Google Analytics [Website visitor tracking] Google Search Console [Website performance] Hotjar [Visitor video recording and heat-mapping] What software don't you use, but you've heard good things about, and you've intended to try at some point in the near future? Brightedge [Enterprise SEO management] My number 1 takeaway What's the single most important step from our discussion that our listeners need to take away and implement in their businesses? Just take the time and do it right. Really think what digital marketing is all about. It's about solving a customer's problem, and then talking about that in the digital world so that we're attracting them as customers. Just do it right. Take the time to write the content. Take the time to develop the relationship. I've seen it over and over where that pays off ten-fold compared with trying to trick the system.
Sometimes success is found in the most unusual places, and our guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who is waking up every morning with a “Yay” as it seems that he is living a life that is ticking so many of his own personal boxes. And why is that you maybe asking? Well today's guest has been on a roller-coaster ride as an entrepreneur which has seen him hits the heights, crash and burn, and then fight his way back to where he is today. Where he wants to be...a startup expert, and the host of the Business Revolution With Stephen Christopher podcast. Starting his business career firmly in the corporate America camp, by working for Merrill Lynch, where he was responsible for Coco-Colas 401k and pension plans for a couple of years, he was like the majority of young man. He was going to work, putting on the suit, and earning the cash for that weekends relaxation and enjoyment. However, with several quick career moves, you could see that the early years was simply stepping stones to taking the entrepreneurial leap of faith. It was inevitable that he would stop putting all his faith in building someone else dream and start building one himself, and that occurred when he became the Founder of Real Estate Investors Network. He was up and running and success was sweet and all his own. But it was running this mortgage company that ultimately changed the course of his entrepreneurial journey. With the crash of the mortgage industry in 2008, our guest learned what it's like to go from profitable to over $100,000 in debt…literally overnight. This failure taught him more wisdom about business than any school or program could ever teach him and since then, he has evolved into a devoted student of personal and business development. But not in the “I am a business coach, lets spend an hour a week on skype with you”….no he had much bigger plans than that. He wants to help peoples businesses flourish in the world of Google Land where all the eyes, and fingers flick across everyday. As he says “The Internet has become incredibly complex and competitive. It's tough for businesses to stay visible…to stay ranked high in the search engines. Which is why I have created Seequs to ensure your business is heard–and seen–above the racket.” And now with a flourishing marketing company, his Business Revolution coaching, Podcast, and public speaking he is getting out there where it matters. He is changing peoples lives, and of course changing his own life in the process. So how did this guy who was terrified to say two words in front of an audience find the courage to put his head above the parapet to lead the way for others? And when he looks back at his early start, did he need to work for others to find the angle to start working for himself? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Stephen Christopher.
