Hey friends! Welcome back to an all new season of Kitchener Famous with Jesse and Jay. We want to thank you for coming back and listening. Today's episode features our "on sight investigative journalism" skills from last year's Belmont Village Bestival.Because so many of the artist's graciously took time to chat with us, we had to split this episode into two parts. This episode features our chats with: Matt Weidinger, Danny Michel, John Orpheus, Steve Strongman, Rob Szabo, Tammy Lawrence, Isy Aboagye, Cheryl Lescom and Sydney Jones. It's all here on our season 5 debut episode of Kitchener Famous. And while we have your attention, we would like to thank this year's sponsors:The Duke of Wellington, Hop House/ White Rabbit, The Foundry Tavern/The Underwing, Encore Records, The Belmont Village Bestival & the Elmira Vintage Guitar Show. Remember to support local this year. It's more important now than ever.

Tammy Lawrence, a 5th grade teacher at Syracuse Arts Academy, can always make her students smile, she even make math fun. Quite the challenge indeed. Mrs Lawrence "has treated every student fairly by including everyone into everything. Whenever we did class activities, she would always look around the room and check to see if everyone was included. If you weren’t included in school activities, she would talk to you after the school day was over and she would take time out of her day to find ways to fix it." says Lila Wilson and Aiden Pullam, students of Mrs Lawrence. They go on to say:  "if you ever missed a school day she always grabbed all of the school work you missed and gave it to you personally. Then she explained what you missed during school." Mrs. Lawrence receives a special recognition award from Zions Bank, an overnight stay at the Anniversary Inn, dinner for two at the Roof Restaurant downtown, and two season passes to the Hale Center Theater. At the end of the year, one lucky teacher will win the lease of a new car provided by Burt Bros. Tire and Service. KSL NewsRadio and Zions Bank are proud to honor Utah's best teachers with the KSL Teacher Feature Awards! Since 1994, Teacher Feature has highlighted outstanding teachers throughout the State of Utah. Winning teachers are announced every Tuesday morning, September through June, on Utah's Morning News with Brian & Amanda.

It was definitely the intention to work for ourselves and build the dream.” - Tammy Lawrence “As somebody that's so go, go, go, that [maternity leave] was a really nice time to focus on my family and also focus on building the businesses that I was trying to run because I wanted that to be my full time that I was working on.” - Katie Hunt   “You just make due in those beginning stages of being a mom and starting a business. It's kind of a deadly combo, but an amazing combo at the same time.” - Tammy Lawrence   “We want to try everything, and we want to make what we love.” - Sarah Edmonds   “It does take a long time to bring new things to market. I think it's very important for people listening to hear there are a multitude of challenges.” - Katie Hunt   “What we want to make, we just make it. Sometimes that's not the smartest business move but it's really being true to ourselves.” - Tammy Lawrence   “Paper pays the way for us to move into these other categories.” - Tammy Lawrence   “Ultimately, we're a business, we want to make money. We want to support our families.” - Sarah Edmonds   “To be creative, to be an artist, you have to be somewhat self-indulgent, and I can't always.” - Sarah Edmonds   “Being able to work with these companies is such a great opportunity to make things that we just don't have the resources to make.” - Tammy Lawrence   “If you're going to make a go of doing the trade shows, you have to commit to being there for more than one year.” - Sarah Edmonds   “Be weird.
