I'm really excited to be joined by the incredible Tracy Moseley to talk through her career both on and off the bike. Tracy has been a multiple National and World Champion and World Cup winner in Downhill and Enduro over the last 20 years and has competed all over the World. Tracy now uses her experience to run her own team, T-Mo Racing, and working as part of the Trek Factory Racing Team to support some of the best Off Road riders in the World. Tracy and I also talk through how the bikes and equipment have changed over the years and the future of racing.Photo used with thanks to Boris BeyerFind all episodes of Cycling Talk Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon, Google, my Buzzsprout website www.cyclingtalkpodcast.buzzsprout.comInstagram - @cycling.talk.podcastFacebook - @cycling.talk.podcastTwitter - @cycling_talkGcn app - CyclingtalkI am supported as a rider and a podcaster by:Big Bobble Hats - www.bigbobblehats.co.uk (Use code CYCLINGTALK15 for 15% off)VeloSkin - www.veloskin.cc (Use code CTP10 for 10% off)Moore Large - www.moorelarge.co.uk - who's amazing support includes Forme bikes and Alpina Sports productsForme Bikes - www.formebikes.co.ukSupport the show
Martyn is joined by EWS Champion, Downhill Champion, Downhill World Champion, and Mum Tracy Moseley on the Podcast this week. Listen now as they recount her career, her work for Trek and Bosch, being a mum vs mountain biker, and how to keep riding fun!
Tracy Moseley is a legend in mountain biking and one of Britain's most successful and best-known female mountain bikers! Do yourself a favor and check her out on Google or Wikipedia. No word of a lie, she has more winning titles than the Duchess of Alba.BUT more than that, Tracy has a degree in Biological Science, is a wife, mom to 3-year old Toby AND works for Trek Bikes supporting athletes in their careers. We talked motherhood, doing it all, eBikes, enduro, life at 41 and how to survive a crazy world.TWO things stood out for me in our conversation. ONE was Tracy's approach to fear which she describes as practicing confidence. AND the other was on slowing down and making a conscious effort to keep life simple which is a philosophy she wants to impart to her son. I was fortunate to chat to Tracy just before she takes a break.Image thanks to DA Sports Photos
Hattie Harnden represents a new generation of riders. Not wedded to a particular discipline, but enjoying riding all kinds of bikes as fast as she can. Hattie recently took a lot of people by surprise by winning her first elite Enduro World Series race in La Thuile. But with a background of success in both cross country and cyclocross, combined with amazing technical riding ability and the support of Tracy Moseley, we probably shouldn't be too surprised. We sat down the day after Hattie won the XC national champs to chat about her riding career so far. We discuss Hattie's approach to going fast, her training, bike setup and much more. So sit back, hit play and listen to this episode with Hattie Harnden. You can follow Hattie on Instagram @hatt1e_harnden. Have you always wanted to get on a bike, but something is holding you back? This is the programme for you, presented by Melanie Abbott. If you're completely new to cycling, there's no doubt it's intimidating on the roads. It's definitely worth sharpening up your road sense and many local councils now offer bike training courses. In East London, Bikeworks run cycling for wellbeing sessions for women returning to their bikes, after a long break. Melanie goes out with a group who've been cycling together now for a few weeks. Cycling is still, predominantly a male, middle class sport. Getting more women involved isn't easy, especially for women of colour. British Cycling, which covers everything from elite sport to grass roots, has set up its first ever diversity programme. and will be publishing its strategy in the coming months. Aneela McKenna is co chair of their diversity and inclusion advisory group. She joins Melanie along with Iffat Tejani, founder of Evolve, a cycling club for Muslim women and Victoria Hazael from the charity Cycling UK, who is a trustee of the Women of Colour in Cycling Collective. Many disabled women find accessing sport particularly difficult and cycling can seem completely off limits and/or too expensive. But there are inclusive cycle groups all over the country offering weekly sessions on a huge range of adapted bikes. Others arrange rentals and ‘try before you buy’. Our Disability Affairs reporter Carolyn Atkinson goes to Herne Hill Velodrome in South London where a charity called Wheels for Wellbeing runs sessions for disabled cyclists. Tracy Moseley has won countless mountain biking trophies, including the World Cup downhill in 2006. She officially retired six years ago, and had her little boy Toby three years ago. Like many keen cyclists who have children, life has changed a lot since then. Melanie gets her tips on teaching children to ride, and her views on racing with e-bikes. Even if you are not entering races you may still be keen to "Strava your ride". It's one of the apps you can use to record your speeds and compare them with others. It's traditionally used by men, competing for the 'king of the mountain' crown, to be the fastest up a hill. But last year the company says there was a surge in the number of women using it and it seems they are just as keen to get a queen of the mountain accolade. Cyclist Sally Owens agreed to record her ride for us, up a tough hill near her home in Nottingham.
Tracy Moseley was one of my first guests nearly 4 years ago now, and a lot has changed since then. We chat about Tracy’s current role supporting the athletes on the Trek Factory Racing programmes. Hear her thoughts about the importance of team fit and culture, as well as what she’s doing about that with Trek. We talk about her pregnancy, being a parent and getting your child into riding. Tracy also talks about her return to racing at the EWS e-series, and how she’s approached getting fit for that with the limited free time that being a parent delivers. So hit play and have a listen to this episode with Tracy Moseley. You can follow Tracy on Instagram @tracy_moseley and Facebook @tracymoseleyuk. Supporting Partners Crankbrothers Crankbrothers have just launched their new range of shoes. I've been testing the Boa version of the clip and the flat shoe, and I'm really impressed. They are super comfy straight out of the box, and have some lovely design details. Like rubber dots in the heel cup to stop your heel from lifting. The sole on the flat pedal shoe is a great balance of pedal grip and the ability to adjust the position of your foot on the pedal. The sole on the clip shoe has transformed my clipped-in riding experience. It's way easier to clip in and out with the Crankbrothers shoes. This means that I feel way more confident on the trails. You can check out the entire Crankbrothers shoe range at crankbrothers.com, and find your local dealer here. Nukeproof Nukeproof have recently announced that Sam Hill and the rest of the Team Chain Reaction Cycles will be running their Horizon V2 wheels for the 2021 Enduro World Series. The Horizon V2 combines some great technology to make wheels that are robust, easy to find parts for and tough. They can be bought individually so you can choose your set up of wheel size, width, freehub, axle etc. You can check them out at your local Nukeproof dealer or at nukeproof.com. To be in with the chance of winning your own pair, just head to downtimepodcast.com/nukeproof and join their mailing list before 1st April 2021. No spam, just a weekly email to keep you up to date with what Nukeproof and the team are up to. Worth it for the Sam Hill videos alone! Tracy Moseley is easily one of the most humbled champions I have come across. Tracy accomplished her life long dream of becoming Downhill MTB World Champion and then went onto to change disciplines and dominate the Enduro World Series. Tracy shares great insights into what it was like as a woman in a "male" dominated industry, single minded focus , goal setting and life after racing.
Hello Guys, on this episode of the show I caught professional downhill mountain bike for a quick chat after she took myself and some other willing participants for a quick cycle. We discuss risk tolerance in such a high-speed sport, how to access the coveted 'flow state' and how family life affects the life and risk tolerance of a pro racer.

Full episode info and Show Notes: www.wearelookingsideways.com Imagine reaching the very top of one sporting discipline - and then switching codes and repeating the feat in your new discipline. Then imagine sustaining this over two decades, all while representing your sport with erudition, passion and grace. That's basically what UK mountain biker Tracy Moseley achieved during one of the most celebrated careers in mountain bike racing. Her achievements are too long to list in full here, but include three World Enduro titles, one World Downhill title, seven British DH titles, 16 World Cup DH wins, 15 Enduro World Cup wins, the first World Cup win on British soil - and on it goes. Quite a CV, and one of the reasons why she is spoken of with such reverence by her peers and those in the mountain bike community. Indeed, although she would probably wince at the words, there's a fair case to be made for Tracy as one of the UK's greatest ever professional athletes on two wheels. Today, Tracy is tackling motherhood and the third distinct phase of her riding career. I met up with her in London in May 2018 to look back over at her career and find out her plans for the future. Tracy is almost as renowned for her warmth and erudition as she is for her riding, and so it proved as we cast a reflective eye back over her extraordinary riding life. One thing became clear as we spoke - her constantly evolving relationship with her bike has always been at the centre of her career, and that continues to be the case today. It was a total privilege to sit down with one of the UK's most legendary mountain bikers, and I hope you enjoy it. Big thanks to Tracy for coming on the show, and to my friend Emma Bebb at Heaven Publicity for her help in pulling this one together. As usual, thanks to Matt Ward (www.linguistine.com) for the theme tune.
When I interviewed Tracy Moseley earlier in the year, and asked her who else I should speak to, she didn’t hesitate in putting me in touch with Katy Curd, who she firmly believes is one... The post Episode 16 – Katy Curd appeared first on Downtime Podcast.
Multiple world champion Tracy Moseley joins us for episode 6 of the Downtime Podcast. We talk about some of the changes in the sport over her 20 year career, her transition from downhill to enduro,... The post Episode 6 – Tracy Moseley appeared first on Downtime Podcast.
In the first of our Extras, Gary speaks to mountain biking superstar Tracy Moseley about her somewhat varied 2012 season.
In this episode, we discuss (what else) Tom Boonen’s rampant victory in Paris-Roubaix against a field of nobodies (if you believe certain cycling fans and/or Roger de Vlaeminck). We discuss the Ardennes Classics & chuck out some rash (but not really that rash!) predictions for Liege – Bastogne – Liege. We bring you some audio from the Scottish Bike Show, including Mike Jardine, the organiser of the Fort William World Cup, who has kindly offered 2 pairs of full-access weekend tickets as a prize for lucky pod listeners. We also chatted to Mark at Singletrack Magazine who gave us the low-down on the exciting changes in the look and feel of the magazine. Finally, we caught up with the company that produce Gary’s favourite bit of bike-cleaning kit, Purple Harry. In mountain biking news, we wrap up the frites-fest that was Houffalize and bring you news of the first ever World Cup Cross Country Eliminator, making sure to gratuitously drop the name Tracy Moseley wherever possible!
