Jeff Fisher is one of a kind. Been bike packing and touring since age 11, this dude has been obsessed on bikes for a long long time. He started in the 70's on some massive adventures around the world from Africa, Canada, across the USA, Nepal, Scandinavia, Alaska and on and on. Finding rad MTB everywhere in between. On top of that he owns 16 bikes currently, rides every day usually for 3 hours and of top of all of that is one of the OG's of the Wood trails we ride. He doesn't have social media or really anything online and we are only the 3rd time in his lifetime he has shared anything of his story publicly. If you want to hit him up I can put you in touch if you DM us on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/gnargnomies/ or at gnargnomies@gmail.com This is a real gem and we need 10 more episodes to cover this rad dude. Außerdem reden wir u.A. Was schützt Dich viel verlässlicher, als Schoner? Was unterscheidet Mut von Übermut? Bike Talk with Dave: Bicycle racing, cyclocross, gravel, mountain bike, road and tech
Erik Schlimmer is no stranger to long, difficult days either on foot or on the bike. As a mountain biker, he raced at the top level in the early 1990's, then turned to long distance bike packing adventures, but not just his love of long distance hiking got in the way of his cycling - so did life and some time served in the military. He found himself going years and years without riding. Until recently, that is. In 2023 he took a tragic event in his life and turned it into a reason to embrace life - and hopped back on the bike again. Just over a year since that event, he's now doubled down on his focus and decided to pin a number on again and give racing a try. His is a compelling story of triumph, tragedy and triumph again! And while he has carved out time for his newfound joy, he also took his passion for hiking and history in the Adirondacks and has authored nine books about the area, it's trails and history. Christopher Blevins is on a tear. Winning the opening round of the UCI cross-country mountain bike race in Brazil here in 2024, he finished with the silver medal the next week in round two. Wearing the stars and stripes as the reigning US national champion, Chris has the Olympics high on his mind this summer going into Paris. We'll talk about that decision and how it's paid dividends since then. In addition to being extraordinarily fast on all things two-wheels, he's also a very fun, engaging, creative person. A short, but thoughtful episode about a topic, that has been bothering me for a while now... It started off with something I heard on Pinkbike about "trail bumblers"... As a full-time mountain bike skills coach, mental trainer and psychological counselor I have seen how this aspect of mountain bike "culture" has it negative side effects. This is the video I talk about in this episode: 2a226a6a146dd4803a62f1dd284a4bfbDid you know I earn €0 with this podcast? It actually costs me money every month, as I need to pay for hosting and spend a lot of time researching, recording, editing and publishing it.

Last week, we had one of the most accomplished athletes of all time come to Western Colorado University for our Blister Speaker Series. And it was quite an opportunity to get to pick the brain of Courtney Dauwalter and get her thoughts on life and the limits we tend to place on ourselves; her approach to training and competition; how she goes about setting goals; and more.Ultimately, while we've watched Courtney's staggering achievements as she crosses finish line after finish line, setting new course records and accomplishing the seemingly impossible along the way, this conversation makes it clear that her achievements are very much mental victories, and there are takeaways in this conversation that each of us would do well to absorb and implement into our own lives.RELATED LINKS:Join Us!
