*Great news! Treasurer Scott Morrison could have more tax cuts in his Budget after he announced dropped plans for the Medicare levy increase. *Hellie Turner afforded me some time this morning, play write of The Lighthouse Girl that is on a regional tour at the moment and coming to the Merredin Cummins theatre on Friday night. *The World According to Quinny- What Quinny got up to for Anzac Day, he also let us know about another mural being constructed by local artist Pat Rose in Northam at the moment and it’s a very special day on the Friday for butchers! *John’s Retro Review- You’re Mine & Ours Sadly, we lost the queen of comedy Lucille Ball on April 26, 1989. John thinks a lot of people missed out on her which is a shame as she was truly gifted at her craft. So, this week we rewind back to 1968 to a wonderful film.

Treasurer Scott Morrison talks about "good debt" and "bad debt", but what does this mean, and who gets to decide "good" and "bad"? Richard Denniss talks to Karen Middleton about sexual harassment in politics and the economic cost of shame and silence, Jane Caro about the inequality of Australia's education policy, and Chris Fry on his views on private and public school funding in the Sensible Centre. Professor John Hewson, a former Liberal leader and chair in the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute at the Australian National University, describes the uncertain economic climate into which Treasurer Scott Morrison will deliver next week's budget. "I think it's an occupational hazard for treasurers that they're always optimistic - always try to put a better gloss than is the case," Hewson says. "I've been analysing and forecasting economies since the late '60s and I picked up most of the big turning points over that period, but I'd have to say that right now I think it's harder than it's ever been to say what might happen next." Hewson nominates the after-effects of the global financial crisis, geo-political tensions and environmental challenges as some of the factors driving his doubt. There is also the matter of Donald Trump. "He's quite unpredictable and his capacity to govern in the United States is really quite limited. Although he might have been a reasonably succesful property developer, it's not easy to run a government off that skill set in Washington and he's finding the reality of that." ___ _This podcast is co-published with the University of Canberra's [Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis](http://www.ausbudget.org/)_
