In this episode Debbie sits down with her Husband Pete and discusses their journey together over the years, and how they've grown and evolved through personal development, spiritual learning and therapeutic intervention. Two people, who had both been talked into attending a last-minute staff night out at Weatherspoons, ended up talking all night. They had a strong connection and felt that they were destined to be a big part of each other's lives. Despite feeling unsure about whether or not they would ever see each other again, they both had a strong sense that their relationship was meant to be.Debbie & Pete reminisce on how quickly their relationship progressed and how both their individual issues brought them closer together and how their personalities are opposites in many ways. One is gentle and soft-spoken while the other is blunt and direct. This conversation highlights the importance of understanding each other's feelings and being open to opposites in order to form a strong and lasting relationship.HIGHLIGHTS Yeah, so our youngest, she was talking about how she felt things evolved, sort of. There was talk about chickens and dinosaurs and fish and chimpanzees and then Charlie interjected our middle one and he was like well, I'm not sure reality is reality. It could be a simulation like The Matrix. And then we started discussing the possibility of this being basically The Matrix. And this man would just appear. And my mum noticed it and she started to get freaked out. But it was if he would almost like apparate, he would just be there from nowhere. And it was a bit freaky, but me and mum didn't know if it was just us imagining it was it was sort of build up a story where we getting paranoid about it. It was quite a unique experience, I think. So we had that and then the other experience we had was so as you carry on listening to these podcasts you will start to find out more and more about sort of the unusual things that have happened throughout my life and the work that I do. But when I was 17/18 one of the strangest things that started happened is a man started to appear wherever I was when I was in this place where I grew up called Alford.ABOUT THE HOSTDebbie started her career as a primary school teacher, but quickly recognized the complexities of being human and decided to retrain as a therapist. Hello & a very warm welcome back to Breaking Bread the podcast all about the amazing food & drink in Birmingham. This week Carl & Liam are joined by Liam's very good friend & gaffer of Bacchus Bar, the awesome city centre boozer just off New St. Brendan has worked in pubs & bars for over 20 years and has won awards & recognition for investing in his team & turning struggling pubs around. Liam & Brendan take a fun trip down memory lane to where they first met, in a cheesy Solihull bar in 2006. They reminisce on some funny memories (not so funny at the time) during their time working at Weatherspoons. Brendan offers some great advice & talks deeply about hospitality management and what it has been like to run a city-centre pub during covid before offering a fresh take on Tripadvisor which might make you realise that it may be more beneficial to work with Tripadvisor, as opposed to just hating on it. In addition to your weekly wrap of union news, this week we bring you two stories out of the fast food and hospitality industries. In the UK, workers at TGIFridays and Weatherspoons joined McDonalds workers to take strike action for higher pay and better jobs. One of their demands is to end youth wages, where young people are paid less for doing the same work as older workers. We also speak with Josh Cullinan from RAFFWU, about McDonald's practice of using youth wages in Australia to drive down costs.
