Devocional do dia 18/08/2026 com o tema: Perseverança Meus pais se conheceram muito jovens, casaram-se e viveram 35 anos juntos. Um dia, meu pai saiu de casa e foi viver uma nova vida. Nossa família sofreu a ausência e o abandono, mas minha mãe nunca desistiu de orar por ele. Alguns anos se passaram e, quando as mágoas foram amenizadas, meu pai voltou a se reunir com os familiares em datas festivas. Mamãe conservou seu lugar à mesa e continuou a tratá-lo com carinho. Como a vida não é um conto de fadas, a história dos meus pais ainda levaria muitos anos para terminar com um final feliz. Muito tempo se passou e, um dia, finalmente, meu pai se rendeu ao amor de Jesus. Com emoção e alegria, meu irmão, que é pastor, serviu a Ceia do Senhor para meu pai e minha mãe na cozinha da nossa velha casa, em meio às lembranças, ao cheiro de temperos e ao eco do riso das crianças já crescidas. Por quase 70 anos, minha mãe orou pelo meu pai, e Deus ouviu o seu clamor. What can one missionary's faithfulness set in motion across languages, students, families, and generations? In this episode of Youth Worker On Fire, Doug Edwards remembers his friend Dr. Wes Collins and reflects on the extraordinary legacy Wes and his wife, Nancy, built through missions, Bible translation, education, and service among the Mam people of Guatemala. As a missionary connected with Wycliffe, Wes helped restore a written form of the Mam language and worked to translate the New Testament so that indigenous families could read Scripture in their own language. His ministry helped people reclaim a sense of dignity, identity, and the assurance that God loved them and valued the language He had given them. Wes also opened the door for Doug and generations of students to experience cross-cultural ministry firsthand. Over five years and six trips to Guatemala, students participated in construction projects, Vacation Bible School, medical outreach, and ministry among Mam families in the mountains. They also visited the Guatemala City dump, where thousands of people lived in extreme poverty—an experience that profoundly changed how many students understood faith, service, gratitude, and the world around them. Pasaron los años, miles de páginas leídas, y cuando Ofelia se quedó viuda vino a España, donde vive su hijo, que es editor de libros (de tal madre, tal hijo). Ya en España, Ofelia le insistió a Edmundo para que editara los libros descatalogados que a ella le gustaban. Pero el hijo le dijo: "Mamá, yo no voy a editar eso. Si quieres, edítalos tú". Y aquí es cuando nace Ofelia Editora, que solo publica los libros olvidados que a ella le gustan.

Mamá, no estás compitiendo con nadie. No estás corriendo contra otras mamás, ni contra estándares imposibles. Tu carrera fue diseñada específicamente para ti, con tus hijos, tu historia y tus circunstancias.

Elle avait choisi de s'appeler « Lee » plutôt qu'Elizabeth, préférant un prénom androgyne coupant court d'emblée à tout a priori genré sur sa plume et son œil. Lee Miller préférait prendre des photos plutôt qu'en être le sujet, elle dont le corps lui avait échappé dès l'enfance.  Mannequin, photographe, apprentie puis complice de Man Ray, photographe de mode pour Vogue, elle obtient l'une des rares accréditées par l'armée américaine pour suivre les troupes pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, avec Margaret Bourke-White et Helen Kirkpatrick. Lee Miller semblait n'avoir rien à perdre, et tout à montrer. Fascinante femme, libre et ingénieuse, Lee Miller donna à voir la vie dans ses infimes détails qui parfois éclairent tout et permettent de mieux comprendre la grande Histoire. Elle documenta la chute de l'Allemagne nazie, la libération des camps et l'Europe sidérée, affamée et meurtrie.     Une plume, un œil, une curiosité insatiable, une voix pour les femmes Photojournaliste, Lee Miller écrivait la vie, le réel, en exposant les à côté pour exacerber l'inhabituel, les contrastes. Les légendes de ses photos sont faites du même grain, elle pose sur ses mots le même effet que sur la pellicule, elle solarise pour faire émerger les contours, les détails avec humour, sensibilité, humanisme et une certaine férocité parfois.  Lee Miller est une artiste protéiforme, se réinventant constamment, créant sans cesse. Des photos de et avec ses amis surréalistes à Paris, à sa vie après la guerre à Farley's Farm où elle s'installe avec son mari, le peintre Rolland Penrose et leur fils Anthony. Souffrant de stress post-traumatique, déprimée, fragile elle fait de cette maison une nouvelle bulle de création. Cette ferme devient la maison des surréalistes, l'endroit où les amis de Paris, de Londres ou d'ailleurs se retrouvent, leur refuge et l'endroit où elle organise l'oubli, et sa reconstruction.   Cuisiner pour créer et se reconstruire  C'est Manon Fleury, la cheffe du restaurant Datil qui poste la première les photos exposées au Musée d'Art Moderne de Lee Miller au fourneau, elles figurent dans la dernière section de cette riche et géniale exposition. La cuisine, Lee Miller s'était formée à Paris et Londres à l'institut du Cordon bleu. Une passion dévorante, créatrice, Lee Miller ne fait rien à moitié. Elle s'engage entièrement dans cet art qui rassemble, nourrit, exprime et soutient. À sa table ses amis, peintress sculpteurs poètes, Picasso Max Ernest, ses amis surréalistes rencontrés à Paris, à Londres, ou ailleurs : c'est leur refuge aussi, elle y organise l'oubli. Une pièce de la maison est dédiée à son impressionnante collection de livres de cuisine : plus de 2 000 ouvrages.   De ses mille vies de Lee Miller, l'histoire n'a failli retenir que la muse, si son fils n'avait pas retrouvé dans le grenier de Farley's farm à la mort de sa mère toutes ses archives, photos, négatifs, carnets. Elles sont précieusement conservées et voyagent le temps d'exposition comme la rétrospective du MAM à Paris.   La beauté est un atout complexe, elle inspire, mais peut figer aussi, emprisonner, cataloguer, or Lee Miller est une artiste, entière, rebelle et libre. Esta es una de las palabras más bellas que puede salir de los labios de una persona. Alguien dijo que “Una madre es alguien que a pesar de todas tus fallas, te sigue queriendo y cuidando como si fueras la mejor persona del mundo”. Un acróstico de la palabra madre dice que una madre es “maravillosa, amorosa, dedicada, radiante y ejemplar”. Creo que estas palabras se quedan cortas para describir el amor de una mamá. Las mamás tienen un amor indescriptible que ha sido dado por Dios para cuidar, animar, disciplinar, instruir y desafiar a todos sus hijos. Cada una de ellas es especial para Dios y para cada familia a la cual pertenezca. Mamá no es solo la que engendra, sino también la que cría, sustenta y cuida a otro ser querido. De modo que si tienes le título de mamá, portas uno de los títulos de más investidura, de más honor y de más admiración. Hoy conmemoramos a cada mamá que vive y aún a aquellas que aunque no vivan, viven en cada uno de nuestros corazones. Recordemos que hay una promesa para todos al honrar a mamá y hoy honramos a cada una de ellas. The Mishna at the end of Masechet Menahot (110a) teaches: "Ehad Ha'marbeh Ve'ehad Ha'mam'it, U'bilbad She'yechaven Libo La'Shamayim" – "Whether one does much or one does little, as long as he directs his heart toward Heaven." The point made by the Mishna is that the most important factor is not the amount that one actually manages to accomplish, but rather the extent to which he maximizes his potential and does his best. A person who is able to learn six hours a day is not necessarily greater than a person who is able to learn just one hour day, as these two individuals might face very different circumstances. If the first individual learns for six hours but has the ability to learn even more, whereas the second only has an hour for learning and takes full advantage of that hour, then the second is greater than the first. This is true also of scholarly achievement, charity, Hesed, community involvement, and so on. Not everyone is in the position to do the same amount. Every individual has his unique set of strengths, weaknesses, talents, struggles, challenges and circumstances, and no two people's expectations are thus exactly alike. The most important thing is "She'yechaven Libo La'Shamayim" – that one sincerely invests the greatest effort that he can and achieves to the very best of his ability. Hacham Ovadia Yosef noted that the word "Leb" ("heart") consists of the letters Lamed and Bet. These two letters are preceded by the letters Kaf and Alef – which spell the word "Ach" ("only"), and are followed by the letters Mem and Gimal – which spell the word "Gam." Now the Gemara teaches us that the word "Ach" implies a "Mi'ut," an exclusion, and when it appears in the Torah in the context of a Halacha, it indicates that something is excluded from the law in question. Conversely, the word "Gam" implies a "Ribui," an extension, that the law includes something that we might not have expected it to. The word "Leb" is thus "surrounded" by both "Marbeh" and "Mam'it," by an allusion to a large amount and an allusion to a smaller amount. This reinforces the notion that the most important thing is the heart, one's sincerity, one's genuine quest for excellence and devoted efforts to do the most he can.
