In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Alison Cooper-Moore who is a spiritual medium and psychic. During this podcast Alison talks about how she had an awareness of spirit since being a young child, however, she quickly learnt from her parents' reactions that it was not something that was acceptable to discuss. As an adult however, she returned to these gifts, working hard to develop them to become an integral part of her life. Alison now works with others to help them develop their psychic and mediumship abilities as well as giving readings. KEY TAKEAWAYSYounger children often have an awareness of spirit. We tend to shut off our spiritual gifts from a young age due to other people's belief systems.Different people perceive spiritual messages in different ways such as visions, smells, hearing and knowing. It takes patience and practice to develop spiritual abilities. There are various methods of developing psychic and spiritual abilities, so it is important to take your time to explore what is right for you. When people pass away, they are often greeted by loved ones from the spiritual realm. BEST MOMENTS“ I've always known I can see spirits but I just assumed that everybody else could as well. So, when I was younger, people would be in my house, people would move things and it was just, Oh, I'll put it back. I didn't think anything of it.” ”I remember once going to see a medium and she did my palm and she said, you could do this, you know, and I thought, yeah, they tell that to everybody.” ”We knew she was in there. We knew she was bothering the dog. We knew that she was touching things, but I thought, well, it's okay. She's fine. She's not causing any trouble. And then one night, she really shoved my shoulder hard. I reasoned in my head, maybe it isn't that, maybe it was just a muscle spasm.”“ My mum was dying and I held my mum's hand, I said, Mum, show me who's with you, and I could see everybody that was waiting for her.” ”I was speaking to my nana when I was about nine. I spoke to my mum and said, I've been speaking to Nana. Mum cried, Dad got angry, shouted a lot. I thought, oh, we don't speak about this kind of thing then. So I didn't speak about it again.”HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Vandana who supports individuals with their health and well-being through the use of the Human Regenerator, a machine that uses cold atmospheric plasma technology. During this episode, Vandana shares her personal family journey of how her and her husband became aware of the Human Regenerator when supporting her mother-in-law with her cancer diagnosis. Upon using this machine, Vandana's mother-in-law benefitted greatly, which inspired them to invest in a machine of their own, bringing it to Lincolnshire to support others with pain and health issues, as well as for those who want their body to be the best it can be. KEY TAKEAWAYSThe cells in our body become less effective over time. Antioxidants help the body to reduce inflammation. When suffering from physical ailments, it can also impact mental well-being.The body needs good nutrition, exercise, and a healthy mindset to help it perform at its best. The Human Regenerator helps to reduce oxidative stress. BEST MOMENTS“The summer before last, my mother-in-law, she was diagnosed with palliative cancer and she was already sort of previously recovering from an operation and radio and chemotherapy. So, the state that she was in was quite fragile. She's really low on energy, she was getting really tired, and we just were kind of in a place where we thought we need something to sort of support her, just to give her a bit of a boost.”“But then after her second session, the next day, we asked her, mum, you know, how are you, how are you feeling? And she said she felt good. She got off the Human Regenerator and she had a bit of a light on her face, and she felt good. And we did over 20, 000 steps around central London, which was something that she hadn't done in a very long time before.”“That's when we decided, you know, we'll get one here up in Lincoln and try and help more people and also support mum as much as we can, just to give her the quality of life that she could have with her limitations. And yeah, that's kind of how our journey started.”“They're just happier in themselves and they don't have that kind of the pain or the struggle in the back of their mind and they're able to do more than they think they could have done.” ”And then having the human regenerator on top of that. It's just been a game changer. I feel good. I don't feel tired after a really long day of work, and I don't feel low on my energy or touch would not been poorly for quite some time. So, I think it works as a really good compliment to a great lifestyle.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Maddie Kleinhofs a Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) Practitioner, who works with individuals and groups to help them create the changes they desire. After suffering from neurological issues, Maddie went through a spiritual awakening experience, recognising that there is more to the world than meets the eye. From this experience Maddie felt a change in her life path, deciding to retrain in RTT which uses a combination of hypnotherapy, CBT, psychotherapy and NLP techniques to help clients get to the root of their problem. During this conversation Debbie and Maddie share their enthusiasm for the work that they do and the techniques that they use. KEY TAKEAWAYSThe mind can be used as a powerful tool to help us overcome obstacles and achieve things that we never thought possible.Lots of individuals who have a spiritual awakening experience often felt different or isolated growing up.Guides and other types of beings can come in to support us on our spiritual path. After having a spiritual awakening experience our perceptions and beliefs can be profoundly altered, guiding us to live life in a different way.We carry limiting beliefs from our past which can impact our lives in the present. Therapy needs to be personalised for each individual client's needs. BEST MOMENTS “ I did struggle quite a bit as a teenager. I was a bit of a wild child. So, lots of deep internal disconnection going on there. Lots of loneliness, feeling different, feeling like I was on the outside, like I couldn't connect. So that was the start of my journey.” ”And I just, my consciousness was just literally pulled straight out of my, my body. And I was just moving so fast. Like the speed of light, straight down a tunnel. I would call it a wormhole actually, because I'm big into sci fi. Amazing! So I'm speeding through this wormhole. And eventually, I've no idea how much time passed, but eventually I just popped out somewhere else.”“ But I was just so comfortable because there was no, there was no sadness, there was no fear, there was no pain, no pain at all.”“ I knew that it was a place that I had been, that it was more real of an experience than this is. Yes. This is the dream. Yeah. If anything, this is definitely the dream in my opinion.”“ It was just so fascinating learning about how the mind works, the subconscious, all of those belief systems that we create for ourselves that then are controlling our lives now and we're not even aware of them most of the time.”  ”Obviously there is flexibility in that because you need to tailor to each individual person, each individual client is going to be different.”“ I would say remember That you are important and it's important for you to take time to nurture that in yourself. Take time for rest, take time for yourself, do the things that light you up, that make you feel good.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Life after Trauma with Klare Bailey

In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Klare Bailey, who after fleeing domestic abuse, began a journey of intense study, to understand how the trauma had impacted her body and mind. Through this journey a passion within her grew to help women who had fled domestic abuse situations. Klare who is a trained counsellor, coach, and eye movement therapist, now works with women to help them learn how to value themselves through supporting them to change the negative voice within their mind, something which Klare notes has often come from their abuser or upbringing, with the aim of helping each client develop their self-esteem and confidence. KEY TAKEAWAYSAfter experiencing situations of trauma, the body and mind can go into overdrive.Patterns of abuse or toxic relationships often begin in childhood. Our identities are shaped by the experiences we have had.It is important to challenge your limiting thoughts and beliefs about yourself.Looking for the glimmers, the tiny magical moments in everyday life can support well-being.If you are in an abusive relationship, it is important to seek help and support.Finding time for rest and relaxation is an important element of recovery. BEST MOMENTS “So essentially what happened was, approximately 13 years ago, I had to do a runner from a relationship that was abusive, highly, highly toxic, involved women's aid, police, solicitors, lots of stuff. I had the most amazing support. However, what I found was that once I'd got out and the dust had settled, all the help disappeared. And I was kind of left in this state of being absolutely shell shocked.”“I was like, you know what, I cannot live my life like this. I have to sort this out myself. So, I started on this epic journey, fascinating, epic, real hyper focus of studying trauma, the impact of trauma, what happens in the brain, what happens in the body, everything to do with it because I needed to understand why my body was behaving that way, why my brain was behaving that way. I had to find my own route to get better.”. ”So it was a personal journey that gave me this fire and determination, passion to say, no, we're not tolerating this anymore. There has to be a better way.” ”When we actually look at what happens in the brain and we've got these neural pathways that, and I always think they're a little bit like if you're building a road system, you know, you start off with the kind of baby neural pathway and it's essentially like a little bit of a footpath going through the and then if you go over it enough times, it becomes a more definite pathway.”“ And I always think it's a little bit like, you know, when you're rolling a snowball, it takes a while to get it going, but my golly, you know, once, once they get going, it's amazing.” ”Just that you're worth it. You are absolutely worth it. And I know it's hard, but I promise you the work is worth putting in.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Dr Matthew Hopkins, a highly qualified scientist with a passion for understanding the workings of the Universe. During their conversation Matthew demonstrates various scientific concepts, explaining why some of these may contribute to our understanding paranormal experiences, something which Matthew has had numerous encounters with, Matthew sharing these experiences with the audience. KEY TAKEAWAYSScientific concepts can assist in explaining paranormal experiences. Science, at its best, should be open to exploring possibilities. Having an understanding of energy can help us to understand how the universe works.Paranormal experiences are encountered more frequently than we realise. Our intentions have an impact on our reality. If working with magic, we should do so in a way that is positive and protective of ourselves and others. BEST MOMENTS“Certainly, it's part of my fundamental ethos, I suppose, and philosophy of science. That to be a good scientist, one has to be open minded and explore the possibilities of an infinite number of possibilities.”“But then our keyword nature, if we're going to take the full foundations of nature, that should accommodate paranormal beliefs and paranormal phenomena.”“They should read some of the stuff in quantum mechanics and cosmology, which is far more bizarre than the paranormal stuff. Far more bizarre, Debbie. And these things are observable, observable things that we can talk of.”“I'm interested in, with respect to paranormal beliefs, i.e. manifestations, ghosts, etc., a lot of cosmological models, and to be fair, quantum mechanical models can explain that phenomena as it were. So that's why I'm interested in cosmology, and I'm interested in a lot of these weird things that exist out there.”“Hence, how we can explain the existence of ghosts using that mechanism. We could argue that when you see these phantoms, if you like, or these demons, what you're actually seeing is, you're seeing them in their natural state.”“And as we know, black holes suck things into infinite density. The white holes conversely spit things out from infinite density, so they're completely inverse.” "Basically my father died when I was eight and in somewhat tragic circumstances, medical neglect, basically. And I remember my mother took a picture of a television in our room, in our lounge, where my father was physically in our television and this television was off. It was unplugged from the walls. You can't explain that through photoelectric effects or anything like that.”“ I had a dark figure follow me around for a long, long time. A very long time. It only went a couple of years ago. And then other paranormal experiences I've had of hearing voices, as it were.”“Debbie, I've strayed so far from my path, I can't remember the way back.”HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Alternative healing modalities can help to release past traumas. Through shamanic techniques individuals can be taken on a journey to access and heal what is holding them back.We plan our key life lessons before we incarnate.Things that have ben programmed into our subconscious mind can have an impact on different areas of our life. BEST MOMENTS“ So my kind of life history, I got bullied at school in the UK. I went to South Africa, and I got bullied at school there. And then when we came back, my father enrolled me in an all-boys school in Plymouth and I thought I ain't gonna get bullied here, so I became the school nutter.” "I read Lorna Byrne's Angels in Your Hair, and I asked my ex-wife to go and get me it. She thought I'd fallen down the stairs and banged me head, but it had quite a profound effect on me.” "And then shamanically, I take them through a journey to go and visit these people, take their power back from them. They get to say to them whatever it is they really wanted to say” "I believe in the soul contract and that they signed up to experience whatever it is they've gone through. They've just forgotten about it and these people are actually coming in to help them to learn their lessons.”“ I had one lady come to see me and it was near enough like a scene out The Exorcist, only her head didn't spin 360. So, yeah, so it keeps me on my toes.” "When you're sat upstairs just before you're about to incarnate, and you're sitting there with your team, your guides, and your guardian angels, and you write your story, you star in your film, and you get the T-shirt.” "It may be something simple, like somebody said something to him as a child, but it's stuck in their head that they're thick or they're stupid or they're ugly or whatever it might be, and they've carried that forward into adulthood.”“ They jailed part of my soul in this other dimension apparently as punishment, and so she bought it back.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. After suffering from depression, Naomi found that her practice not only lifted her mood, but the mantras she said to herself began to change her way of thinking, helping her to learn how to love herself more. After a period of illness, Naomi recognised she needed to make dramatic changes in her life, leaving behind what she had known, embarking on a trip to Thailand to become a yoga practitioner and setting up her therapy business. KEY TAKEAWAYSYoga can benefit the mind as well as the body.Guided meditations can help to bring the mind into the present moment.Saying mantras to ourselves can help to boost confidence and well-being. Everything starts with the breath.Listening to our internal voice, as opposed to external opinions, can assist us in connecting to our own wants and needs.Small, consistent steps of progress can lead to big positive change.Integral Eye Movement Therapy can assist with changing unhelpful and traumatic memories. BEST MOMENTS“When I say meditation, it's not meditation. A lot of people think when we think meditation, we have to sit in a spot, still, quiet our minds for hours on end. And that's not what meditation is to me.”“Yeah, it was astonishing when I learned that because I didn't expect it. It's quite exciting. But yes, the breath always comes first with yoga and meditation.”“I think even if you just turn up on the mat, not do anything, you just lay on the mat, then you've done yoga for the day.”“During lockdown I realised that I was really, really depressed. It wasn't until that point I actually noticed I had been feeling this way for about five years beforehand, so my yoga was so, so important. It was pretty much a lifeline because I was not doing anything else with my day.”“I was sat in a cafe, Stokes, in Lincoln, on a really sunny day. I had this cake that was absolutely delicious. And I'd just bought a book, and I was reading by myself, just eating cake by myself, and I was like, wow, there's something here in me that's never happened before. I think I'm happy.”“So I had to run home and write that in my diary that I made it. And that was the first day I actually wrote that I love myself. That came out of nowhere as well.”“That day that I decided I love myself, I was like, I've got to give this to other people.”“Go the soft, smooth direction that you're meant to go. Going with the flow is a huge thing that I feel like everybody should think about doing.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's New Year's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with her husband Pete as they discuss what they plan to put into place for the year ahead and how they focus their energy through visualisation, manifestation and practical application to turn this into reality. KEY TAKEAWAYSRoutine and structure can be beneficial for well-being and also achieving goals.Sometimes we need to identify our challenges so that we can then find solutions.Creating a plan can help you to focus your time and energy.Using the five sense to focus on our goals can help increase the desire and commitment to achieving them.Creating a visual representation can help with manifesting. When intention setting, it is important to be positive and specific. When manifesting you also need to apply positive and consistent action. BEST MOMENTS“Typically, I don't do New Year's resolutions, but I suppose I do, in a way, I just maybe don't label them as New Year's resolutions. But I already know exactly what my resolution is for 2025.”“If I get on task, that feels like quite a rare occurrence for me.”“And then listening to everything they were saying about how it helped them and thinking, wow, that's what I need.”“As long as you're in charge of your own routine you'll be fine, you don't like having routine imposed upon you.”“Like an upside-down swan, people normally use the analogy of the swan where they look real calm and serene and floating across the surface. What you can't see is the paddling manically where I've been upside down. So, actually, I've been paddling manically, and you can see that clearly, but I'm just not getting anywhere apart from feeling like I'm drowning.”“I always think for the new year, well, how can I build upon those positives that I've built throughout the previous year. It's always that building and moving forwards.”“I suppose I've finally surrendered to that impatience and just have allowed.”“Well, that helps put a different energy into it, doesn't it? So, it's okay putting your thought energy into it. The electrical impulse in your brain firing off and creating that electrical energy, but you also need to put some kinetic energy in to help it go in the direction that you want it to go in.”“Spend some time over the next few days thinking about what you want for yourself over the next year in different areas of your life. And then what action you're going to take to make that happen.”“Often we're the only things that really hold ourselves back.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's Christmas episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with her husband Pete as they reflect back upon the year, what they have achieved, and what they are grateful for. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe change and evolve throughout our life time.Different people and messages come into our lives when we need them.Change and growth can bring with it both positives and also challenges. We remember and learn in different ways. There are always opportunities to change our path or to put things right. Focussing on what we are grateful for helps us to feel better and supports our minds to create more of those positives. BEST MOMENTS“I think looking back over the podcasts, I'm so lucky to have so many amazing guests, so many interesting people that want to come on and talk. And I think it's been really interesting for my growth as well. I always learn something new from the podcasts.”“We are always learning and growing and evolving and becoming different people.”“Because I think I started off the year, and it's really hard to look back because this year feels like it's gone in the blink of an eye, it's gone so fast.”“It's not like I spend a lot of time deliberating or thinking on something or planning it out. It's, I mean, whether you're not, you believe that it's my unconscious, subconscious, mind bringing forward what I need to do next, or whether you believe it's guides or the Universe, it seems to just appear.”“And it's been quite fascinating listening to your way of remembering all these different words, because obviously I'm looking at them and I'm like, oh, that's a French word. That's a German word. That's an Italian word, because for whatever reason, I seem to be okay with languages. But you're like, I don't recognise that. I'm going to create some fancy way of remembering.”“So, I would just say, have a think about what you can be grateful for, regardless of what year you've had. What have you learned? How have you grown? What have you achieved?”HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Cassie Spray, an artist who became disillusioned whilst working alongside educational establishments. Cassie recognised that within her there was desire to create positive change for others, whilst also being able to use her creativity. Being unsure of what to do next, she asked for guidance from God. After listening to a podcast about Shungite, the answers came and she began to create pieces of jewellery and products harnessing the properties of shungite, a black stone with a high carbon content. During this podcast Cassie discusses her discoveries about shungite and how it can benefit health and well-being. KEY TAKEAWAYSShungite can be used to promote well-being. Individuals use shungite to assist with protection from EMFs. Do what you can to make your life's journey beautiful.Shungite has a different structure to a crystal. The right people will hear your message and be open to what you can contribute to the world.Follow your passions and inspiration.BEST MOMENTS“I was there for about five years and with my work, I decided it needed to come to an end because what shocked me was, they were not interested when people were presenting that had been cured.”“We made our own silver solutions. We added it, we got some Shungite powder, we added it and we developed our own range and it was like, I want to be able to bring this to people in an affordable way.”“And one of the things that he said was working on a problem, if the solution isn't beautiful, he knows it's not right. And my journey with this Shungite stone was, it's really plain and black, you know, it's really quite boring. And so, I was like, Oh, we could make it really beautiful.”“My heart drives my work. And, it's not often been easy. I've often gone without; I've lived off grid in a van for years. You know, my son didn't enjoy that. But it meant that I could be there for him as a single parent. I could take him to after school clubs, we could have the holidays together and I could develop my art practice.”So the difference between shungite and a crystal would be that the crystal has a lattice structure. It's absorbing the sun's infrared frequencies, and that is setting the frequency coming out of your crystal. Now, because Shungite doesn't have a lattice structure, it's actually emitting far infrared frequencies.”“Someone would come, they'd try, you know, we'd get them playing with things on the day and often they would come back the next day and tell us all these amazing things that happened overnight.”“So this is where the resonance of the quantum entanglement of the fullerene molecule in the Shungite is pairing with you, your heart's desires."“Keep asking those questions, because that being resonance means you have to ask the question for God, the Universe to bring you the answer.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Becky who studied law and was working in the corporate world experienced massive life changes during her Saturn return, allowing her to come back to her spiritual connection and change her life path. Saturn return is a time when the planet Saturn returns to the same positioning it was in when you were born. Through studying astrology and human design, she is now able to give guidance to others about their life paths and journey through the stars. KEY TAKEAWAYSSaturn Return first takes place at around 29 years old and marks major life changes, giving you the opportunity to reflect on your life so far and the direction you are going. Human Design helps you to explore who you are, why you are here and what you are good at.We all have different gifts, skills, and roles to play.According to astrology, when and where we are born has an influence on who we are and the life we lead. When we align with the things we love and connect to our authentic selves, life flows in a more positive way.We need to get out of our heads and connect to how things feel.Learning how to be still and listen takes practice. BEST MOMENTS“Then eventually classic Saturn returns. So around 28, 29 years old, life threw me a few curve balls to navigate. And I came back to my spiritual practice from there.”“If this kind of culmination of the lifetime that you have or have had already, you get an opportunity to go, do you really want this? Or is there something different out there for you?”“It's the story of Saturn being the karmic teacher, being our teacher in life in general, giving us structure, giving us purpose, coming at us and being like, okay, are you ready now? Do you want to do this?”“The human design blueprint gives you a body outline. So, it shows you what the planets were doing in terms of your individual energy circuitry, which gives you an understanding of who I am, what I'm here for, what am I good at.”“There are five different energy types that everyone in the world will be assigned to and they show us how energy should flow through life. So, we have manifestor's, manifesting generators, generators, projectors, and reflectors.”“Everything's much more easier, much more in flow, much, you know, more peaceful and satisfactory when you're actually doing things that you love doing and spending time with people that you love being around.”“So, a light language, the few different kind of things that people would call it. Speaking in tongues would be a quite a common way of people describing it. It's really a way of getting out of your head and into your heart.”“So, the more time you can spend sitting with yourself, understanding yourself, understanding your triggers, understanding your old stories and old patterns and beliefs. And allowing yourself to shed and change and move forwards into what you actually are here to do and feel inside, the easier this transition will be.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. We're all ridiculous and we're building a community of ridiculousness as we are laughing together and it soon becomes natural laughter and it's, you know, that connection and community that you get out of it.”“You can laugh with me or at me. It doesn't matter because either way you're getting the same benefit.”“And you know, the change in people's demeanour just through having half an hour of laughter is just, it is magical to see.”So, in 2017, I was suddenly out of the blue after having had a tummy ache a couple of times and going to the doctors, found that I had secondary breast cancer.”“When I first met my oncologist, she said, we don't know exactly why, but we do know that people who have a positive attitude do better.”“When you've had your mortality put right in front of your face, it makes you realise that all the small stuff just isn't worth all the stress and worry.”“It's got to be make time to find joy because there always is joy. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Michael Daw, who has recently completed his PhD in parapsychology, his study focussing on the impact that vegetarianism, veganism, and fasting has on spirituality and psychic phenomenon. During this conversation, Mike discusses his reasoning for adopting a vegan diet and the benefit that this had on his health, sharing the experiences that those in his study found when they altered their dietary practices. This encourages Debbie to enquire and reflect on her dietary experiences and that of her husband Pete, Mike thoughtfully engaging in this conversation with sensitivity. KEY TAKEAWAYSFor some individuals, a change in their dietary practice can increase their spiritual connection and sensitivity to psychic phenomenon.Animals have a consciousness. There is a connection with vegetarianism and different spiritual traditions. Our diet impacts our health and well-being.We are all on our own path and we should value our personal experience. We are all part of a connected system, and we need a healthy planet to be able to thrive. Each of us can make small changes in our diet and lifestyle to help ourselves, each other and our planet. BEST MOMENTS“I mean, I've always been interested in food. I've also always been interested in parapsychology, so it was brilliant to have the two coming together.”“I read a really good book by a guy called Graham Nichols called Avenues of the Human Spirit and he basically said ‘Well, if we share our consciousness with animals then you know, we really shouldn't be mistreating them in the way we do because that has an impact on us.'”“When I went vegan, I didn't really notice much difference in my health when I went vegetarian, because before I was vegan, I'd given up meat, but I was still eating dairy. When I actually gave up dairy, I noticed a huge difference to my health, you know, I suddenly felt clearer and I had fewer or if no colds or flu, my eczema that I had on my back of my hands and my elbows that just went.”“You do need to honour your personal experience.”“You know indigenous people who eat meat, a lot of those people, they respect the animal that they've killed, if you'd like. So, there is a kind of spiritual connection. They're very conscious of how that animal has lived.”“And I sent them a questionnaire really asking them about how often they had spiritual experiences how often they have paranormal experiences.”“So, it does seem that vegetarian and vegans have more of these experiences than those people who eat meat and the same with people who fast.”“We're not the only species that use tools. We're not the only animals that have languages. We're not the only animals that have culture. So, I think that there is a great deal of wisdom in a number of different animals, and possibly even plants too.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Through the changes she made, she was able to reverse these afflictions, leading a balanced lifestyle that suits her unique body. She now supports others in doing the same through exploring nutrition and well-being. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe need to address the underlying issues as to what is causing imbalances, not just mask over them.Supressing emotions is unhealthy.Gut health impacts your physical health, mindset, and your emotions. There is more to healthy eating than just counting calories. In order to feel well, we need to look at what nutrients our food is giving us.Mindset is an important consideration when making changes to your diet.It is important to listen to your body's needs. For your well-being, it is essential to be able to express emotions in a healthy way. BEST MOMENTS“We've got to look after ourselves and we've got to nourish ourselves and we've got to feel safe.”“When I'm working with my clients I try to encourage them to actually not look at the calory content and to actually ask themselves ‘How is this nourishing my body? How is it actually fuelling my body?'”“So sometimes it's actually training your brain because at the end of the day, a lot of the addictions that we have towards food, is actually our brain that gets fixated on it.”“My passion is the gut and the liver and it's those organs that regulate pretty much everything about us.”“Actually, I need to accept that this is where I've been. This is what I've gone through. And these are possibly the reasons why I'm eating like I am, or I have the habits that I have.”“But it wasn't actually allowing me to express what I needed to express.”“We are all the experts of us because nobody else is walking in our shoes. No one knows really how you feel or what you're thinking. So, once you actually help start building their confidence and give them that power back, I think sometimes that's actually really transformational on its own.”“And we're not meant to be the same person. So, even tomorrow you're meant to be someone different. You know, you're meant to constantly be evolving and changing.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Through his personal journey of using cognitive behavioural therapy to overcome depression, Piero discovered that by becoming aware of our thought processes and exposure to new information, we have the potential to heal. This motivated him to use this understanding, alongside research, to support others experiencing grief. Piero created a resource ‘Love Knows No Death' which he donated to the Forever Families Foundation, as a way of sharing this information. Piero can be contacted through his website www.drparisetti.com KEY TAKEAWAYSSignificant aspects of the human personality appear to survive death.Exposure to survival research can assist individuals with their grieving process. There is a significant amount of research into survival beyond physical death. Our thoughts create our feeling states.A belief in life after death can provide comfort and assist with grief.Being curious and having the ability to learn and explore is a beautiful part of human experience. BEST MOMENTS“I'd say all this because to stress that I am a Western educated medical doctor, i.e. I grew up in an intellectual environment which is dominated by materialism and physicalism... a simple philosophical doctrine that maintains that everything that exists...is matter.”“Unfortunately, I did not have a spiritually transformative experience, I did not see a ghost. I did not meet God or anything. It was a simple anecdote narrated by my wife.”“Evidence tells us that personality survives physical death...we have... colossal amounts of evidence from about 12 different independent areas of investigation, all pointing coherently and consistently to this survival hypothesis.”“This information has a phenomenal, transformative potential for two categories of people, those who are in pain over the loss of a loved one, and those who are in fear over impending death, either their own or a loved one.”“I suffered from severe clinical depression for about a year and a half. Frankly, suicidal, and I was cured.”“But it was also very significant intellectually because having learned about the relationship between thoughts. and moods, thoughts, and emotions. I always thought that emotions came first and thought came later. Well, that is obviously not the case”“That death is not the end of existence, it's the end of material existence, ourselves, our mind, our memory, our thoughts, our personality, and critically for people who have had a loss, our affections go on existing after the death of the physical body.”“I encourage people to read, to learn, to study, to explore. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Dave Carson who is a hypnotherapist and Integral Eye Movement Therapist who creates subliminal recordings and helps clients to understand their self-talk and how this can be transformed to help them live more fulfilling lives. During this discussion Dave, highlights the importance of learning to communicate with ourselves in a positive and nurturing way to benefit our physical and psychological well-being. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe often develop negative self-talk through the interactions that we have in childhood.By removing ourselves from our day-to-day environment it can give us space to discover things about ourselves.Once you have recognised the loop of negative self-talk you can do something to change it.Negative self-talk can cause psychological and physical ailments. When you begin to like yourself, it helps your confidence to grow.It can be useful to observe your thoughts and make a note of the themes within them. The mind is incredibly powerful in giving us what it thinks we want or need. BEST MOMENTS“You probably won't meet anyone as joyful and happy as me today.”“I grew up in a quite an unusual environment. It was very negative. I was always told that I was never going to be able to attain anything. I was stupid. So, I grew up, basically believing this about myself, which does not help in life.”“I went to an ashram for six months in India, away from everything, you know. I mean, this was back in 1999, so we didn't really have social media like we have now. But it was just fantastic to go to this place, and it was like a dream come true, I was meditating every day, and I was doing yoga. I met some incredible people. And I was really able to spend that time to go within myself.”“Everyone's different, you know, everyone's individual.”“Now you've come to a realisation that you do have choice within situations. How do you get yourself to that point where you recognise that? You know what? It's because my epiphany told me that all of this was illusionary, right?”“And once you've broken that loop and you've got that awareness of this, then you have choice.”But I have to say, you know, one of the most helpful things that's really helped me along my journey, is positive self-talk and recognizing negative self-talk. I do believe this is a bit of a pandemic in the world today. I believe it's responsible in some shape or form for all psychological and physical ailments. I truly believe it's very overlooked and not talked about enough, which is why I want to talk about it.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Nicola Ellwood who is a Master Coach and NLP Master Practitioner. From an early age Nicola discovered that she had the innate skill of communicating effectively with others; something which was nurtured within her professional career, as she acquired skills in personal and leadership development. Through this work she unearthed the transformational power of coaching, assisting people to move, progress and make the changes they want to make both personally and professionally, therefore enabling them to be their best self and reach their potential. KEY TAKEAWAYSHigh quality coaching can help you action your goals and realise your potential.Communication skills are important in all areas of life. When you make a commitment to yourself, you can make massive positive changes. When those at the top of an organisation are clear about their goals and work on themselves, that has a positive impact throughout the organisation. It is important that coaches have worked on themselves so that they can be at their best for their clients.Coaching can give you mental flexibility. We have the resources within us, coaching can help us access them. BEST MOMENTS“I was asked to manage a team of coaches and that's where I discovered coaching. And, and I just loved it, and I thought, right, well, if I'm going to manage it, I kind of need to know the depth of it. I really want to know what it is that I'm talking about.”“When you're dealing with personal coaching, you're dealing with the person's life. So, if you're not skilled, competent, and flexible with the breadth of tools, techniques and the ability to be completely client centred, then you're doing your client a disservice, potentially, because you're muddying it with your lens or your experience or your world.”“Sometimes if you're quite people centred, you're quite externally validated.”“To have, you know, almost someone telling me that my instinct was right. It was the first time where I ever really tuned in and became more congruent with myself.”“I choose to work in the executive leadership space because my belief is if I can use who I am and if I can use my skills to help people, towards the top of the organization, then that's going to filter through the organization, it's going to affect more people.”“Many people come to me wanting to thrive, you know, believing, that presupposition that we hold, which is, you know, whatever we think we are, we are capable of so much more, you know, we're so much more than we think we are.”“I would say you already have it within you, whatever it is that you want, whatever it is that you think you need, you already have it. Ask yourself what you want and ask yourself a time when you've had it before because it's pretty likely that you've had it before. You have all the resources within you to be who you want to be." It definitely feels like there's something behind the scenes, like there's something orchestrating it all.”“And I just said, it's okay to have a breakdown. After rushing around and attempting to do it all, Joanna became ill with chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). As she began to search for answers to assist with her recovery, she came to realise that we are encouraged to spend so much time being busy that we spend little time on our self-care. Understanding that this had to change, Joanna embarked on embracing a gentler way of living, something which she now nurtures within her clients and herself. KEY TAKEAWAYSRest and self-care need to be seen as a priority. In order to function in our lives effectively, we need to take care of ourselves. What is happening in the world around us can impact our health and wellbeing.Community is important for wellbeing.Resting is a skill that many of us need to learn which needs to be practised. Our body and mind communicate with us to give us messages. We are a part of the natural world and when we connect with it, we feel better. BEST MOMENTS“I found myself listening to their stories. It felt really important to listen to people's stories. And I found I worried that I didn't know how to listen appropriately to people's stories.”“And then I was kind of doing self-care, sort of tacked on to the end of a very long day if I had anything left. And yeah, I just started to become really ill. I got brain fog, that was so bad. I couldn't recognize people's faces. I couldn't drive. I was so exhausted.”“I felt a great deal of shame about getting so sick when I kind of should have known better because I was caring for other people's mental health and the knock-on effects on their physical health and yet managed to get so ill myself.”“And so, I sort of created it as, you know, a gentle way of living for people, for communities, and for the planet.”“I realized that actually a big part of what people need is community and, places to be together with other people who, you know, want to live more gently, to sort of share ideas, but also to learn practices of rest.”“Whereas now I if I have those sorts of playful thoughts, I think that's what my body's asking for you know and go and do it.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Sam highlights that the historical treatment of witches still has an impact and plays a role within modern society, with many individuals feeling afraid to tune into their energy, wisdom and magic due to the perception of others. To help overcome this, Samantha notes that it is important to connect in with what you enjoy, find like-minded individuals that you can share openly with, and also to do the self-healing work that you require. Healing past life trauma can help release the witch wound.Working on healing the self is part of the ascension path.As we heal, we step into our power.Life is about finding out what you enjoy and connecting into that. BEST MOMENTS“I think it's one of those subjects isn't it that everyone, you know, most people have some kind of interest in witches, whether it be the Disney side of things, or the magic or nature, because it seems to thread through so many different layers of things, doesn't it?”“They were just women who were natural healers and midwives, herbalists, and people who knew that there was energy.”“And you know, these doors are opening, but they're opening as well because we're moving through a time where we need to heal karma. You know, we need to rid everybody of all their karma so we can move into a more peaceful way of living.”“And these women are our ancestors, you know, we're all connected, all of us, and these are real women with real children and real lives.”“There's no wonder that many of us who have come down to earth at this time are here to find our voice again.”“The water holds energy and consciousness, the trees, you know, it's all just energy, whether we call it, energy or whether we call it quantum physics, science. It's the same thing, isn't it? It's just different ways of practicing and there's no right way and no wrong way, you know, we're all different, but we all have something to give.”“We're all supposed to be in jobs and living our life with things that are fun. You know, we're not meant to be doing a job from eight till six every day that we absolutely detest just to pay for the roof over our head.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Stuart came to Reiki 16 year ago when his wife had a treatment. Upon seeing instant improvement, they embarked upon their reiki training journey, setting their intention on helping and supporting as many others as possible. Through this he set up a weekly reiki share, where individuals of all levels of experience come together to share the gift of reiki with one another, healing and supporting each other in their understanding and growth. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe all have energy flowing through us.When there are blockages within our energy, it can lead to mental, emotional and physical imbalances. It is beneficial to connect to others along the healing journey.Through following the reiki principles, we can live our lives more positively.Everyone can learn how to use and access reiki.Self-healing and self-care are an essential aspect of wellbeing. We all have the power to make the world a better place. BEST MOMENTS“I cannot help every single one, but we can help one. And if each of us help one person, I'm sure we'd make the place, you know, the world a better place.”“At the time my wife had, problems with her mental health, and it helped her change the way thinking more or less overnight.”“And then when you've taught them all they need to know, they completely change. You become more confident, more outgoing, you know, and that's the whole idea of these things.”“And when she passed away, it was, I will honestly say, it was some of the darkest times of my life ever. And then I sat there one night thinking, well, yeah, okay, I've lost somebody, but they have as well. So, the students have lost a mentor, a friend, a confidant, that sort of thing. So, I went back and opened the doors, and it was one of the hardest things I've done.”“Reiki gives you that bit of extra confidence.”“Healers need healing too. It's as simple as that. We are not infallible; we are only human. For me, there's five, ten minutes, you know, sitting down, cup of coffee, hand on your heart, just topping your energy up.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with John Bowtell who helps individuals explore their emotions through the use of drama and play using developmental transformations. Through his theatre background, John became aware of dramatherapy, a type of psychotherapy; and how the intentional use of drama techniques and ideas could assist in the therapeutic encounter. During his work with his clients, John becomes a part of the unfolding drama to safely co-create the experience with his clients, exploring whatever roles or scenarios are relevant to meet their therapeutic needs at that time. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe play different roles within our daily life.Through the use of drama therapy, we can work through what is stuck mentally or emotionally to transform it into something different.Drama therapy can be a safe way to explore aspects of ourselves that we do not feel able to show the rest of the world.Through dramatherapy, an individual can not only explore their obstacles but also how to successfully move away from them.Drama therapy can be used to explore different power structures within our lives and within society.Play is important for wellbeing. BEST MOMENTS“It's something that kind of comes naturally. So, I think of drama as an art form. It's the one that's closest to normal life. So actually, we're all doing, you know, we're doing an improvisation now. We're playing our roles, we're performing. This is very natural human activity.”“But in order to do your role effectively, it's going to change in relation to your client. So, the way that you show up for one client is different from the way you show up for another client.”“It's much more fun playing the bad guys, playing the people that you're not, right? And you can then present aspects of yourself that are not socially acceptable or they're not potentials that you can bring forward in your everyday life.”“These things, if they're unexplored or unexpressed, then they can cause blockages in us.”“Basically, we agree it's pretend. We agree that it's play. It's not for real. That's the deal. It's defined by restraining from harm.”“This is a kind of everyday miracle to me. That however heavy the material is, actually it can all be played with, and it can all be transformed.”HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Nawab Pasnak, the head of the International Sufi Movement. During this conversation Nawab will discuss how he came to learn about the Sufi movement and how this led him to be a seeker of wisdom as he embarked on a process of purification, unlearning preconceptions and dogmas that he had been carrying around with him. Nawab focuses on the importance of working on ourselves, unlearning the preconceptions and limiting beliefs that hold us back so that we can connect in to love, hope, and joy. A significant aspect of this is through connection to the breath and our intuition guiding us to recognise we are all connected. KEY TAKEAWAYSThe attitudes and assumptions that we learn throughout life can become a barrier to true connection with ourselves. When working on the heart it encourages compassion, kindness, generosity and acceptance. For our happiness, we need to recognise that we can control our mind, and we can change it.Our breath is a current of energy that flows through us which his directed through our words, thoughts, actions and feelings. When we listen to our intuition, we discover a connection that we are part of everything and everything is part of us.BEST MOMENTS“So if we think that Sufi is about wisdom, then it means that it's someone who is looking for wisdom, not somebody who claims to have wisdom, because anybody who says they're wise is obviously a fool.”“There's a couple of chronic illnesses that the world suffers from right now. One is that we think too much, or we overthink everything. Another is that we're extremely materialistic. We try to quantify and measure everything, and it's all in terms of our sensory experiences, which is always limited, that can only take you so far. And the third illness, common chronic illness that we suffer from, that the world suffers from, is to have a frozen heart.”There's meant to be a stream, a well that flows out of the heart, but you have to dig for it, because often the well has been, you know, there's a lot of sediment in there, and you have to dig down. And if you're willing to do the work and get through the mud that you do encounter when you start to excavate your heart, then in time the stream flows, and that flowing helps to purify the channel.”“If you're playing with a child, if the child says something rough or hurtful, well, you wish they would behave better, and you try to teach them better behaviour, but you don't feel crushed because a child says something rude to you. Well, in fact, most of the world, with all love and respect to them, they're still children."“The spirit of guidance works on different levels. On the physical level, spirit of guidance, you could say is about reflexes... When the Spirit of Guidance speaks through what we call our mind, we call it intuition. And if we listen, our hearing becomes sharper. We begin to hear more messages.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. A number of years ago Carol suffered an injury during a sword fencing competition. Looking for gentle exercise to aid her recovery, she stumbled upon a Tai Chi class. After they both attended the classes, they were amazed by the benefits, which encouraged them to pursue 33 years of studying various energetic wellbeing practices. As part of this journey they have followed the Sufi path, helping them to incorporate a spiritual element to everything they do. KEY TAKEAWAYSTai Chi and Qigong can be used for spiritual development, health and wellbeing, concentration and self-discipline.We get the most benefit when we practice any well-being and healing practices regularly. Having an awareness of the breath helps with healing and balance within the system. There is an overlap and a connection between different philosophies and forms of well-being practice. The breath is the essence of everything. BEST MOMENTS“So there's no excuses anymore for people saying, I can't do that. As long as you can sit up straight or lie straight or whatever, you can breathe and you can concentrate, then you can do qigong, tai chi.”“It's really trying to be a pupil of humans because what you have to do is you listen to people and find out what they want to achieve, what we think they need. And then we try to give them that. It's easy being a teacher, but the truth of it is, you've got to go back and you've got to be a pupil, you've got to study and you've got to study the people that come along to you.”“If you can breathe properly, if you can just imagine for a while that what you're breathing in is not just gas and chemicals, but it's an energy.”“So you're breathing that energy in. And then you're moving that energy around the body, and you know, and some people take it further, they move the energy around and they give it to other people.”“Trust me, your mind wanders off and you have to bring it back. It's one of the most hardest things. So all of this is teaching you willpower to do that.”“To get the real benefits, you have to do a little bit very often, a little bit, and the old Chinese masters always say, it's like putting down a piece of rice paper on the ground, put a bit down one day, two days, three days. After a year, you can actually see you've got a pile of paper.“So, when you start to think about your thoughts, and then to say those thoughts, you have to have breathe to say the thoughts, to say the words, and that then gives you the impetus for the good deeds."“Get to the nuts and bolts of them all and dig deep. You'll find the same message and philosophy going through the whole thing.”“Live your life by that, good thoughts, good words, resulting good deeds.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. As part of what she does, she works alongside her team of horses to help others to heal and learn about themselves as they explore a range of different areas such as social and emotional development, mental health, wellbeing, leadership, and team development. Heidi believes that horses are the epitome of emotional intelligence, being able to see into our souls; this allowing for authentic interaction, providing a safe space for individuals to explore who they are. KEY TAKEAWAYSHorses and animals are adept at reading our energy.By tuning into our emotional intelligence and what our bodies are telling us, it can help us to find solutions and move forward. Being with the horses creates a safe space to explore emotions. Animals can communicate with us to show us what we need to know about ourselves and each other. We are all connected to one another energetically. We can influence our environment by working on ourselves. BEST MOMENTS“Ironically it was a riding accident that, because I haven't really done anything with horses for many years apart from every now and again go through a ride with a couple of friends. And on this occasion, I had a hideous accident, ended up in being airlifted to hospital.”“They just see into our souls. And they require us to be authentic because they don't know how to be anything other than that. And they're the epitome of emotional intelligence as well.”“That's just something special to be around that kind of energy and what they need from us is for us to get out of our heads and work with our own emotional intelligence and listen to what our bodies are telling us.”“They can't do role play. They don't, it isn't on their agenda. They don't know how to do it. So, every interaction is completely genuine and honest.”“The horses were where I found my safe place, so I just used to ignore the horrid girls who were picking on me and just go and spend time in a field or a stable with a horse and I was as happy as Larry and they just create that safe space.”“We've got a great connection. And so, I kind of feel what they're showing me and what they're telling me, but, and I've always assumed it's just because I've grown to know them.”“And that's something that I believe very strongly, that on that energetic level, we are all connected and anything that I do in the here and now ripples out and affects, you know, completely everybody and everything.”“I think the main one for me is get out of your head and listen to what your body is telling you about the situations that you find yourself in and the relationships that you find yourself in. BEST MOMENTS“I wanted to, like, practice yoga and even become a yoga teacher for a long time but didn't think that I would be able to do it.”“And I just took up the thing of studying it (yoga) and kind of fell in love with it and then started teaching it within the practice from a sort of functional perspective and movement perspective because that's obviously what we're all about.”“I think working within sort of like the spinal health and chiropractic clinic, it helped me see the body from sort of the nervous system perspective as well and how the joints and the bones work and how all the muscles really truly attach and move and everything.”“I was one of those people that thought that you know, you had to be a certain person to go and do yoga. You know, you had to be able to stick your leg behind your head and everything like that.”“And yoga is, it's about the movement. It's about the breath, but everybody is different, and everybody can adapt it and it literally is for everybody and can be for everybody.”“I think first and foremost, your true passion has to be about helping people.”“It's a hard journey, isn't it? It is hard, and sometimes you still, feel like,' Am I doing the right thing here? Am I, or am I being mean?'”“You have your body for life, so you need to take care of it. Your body takes care of you. Some people will be with the mind, so we can do like guided meditations and stuff, and some people are on a real, you know, spiritual level where it really is just a spiritual healing.”“I'm finding that at the moment I'm definitely attracting like the women who are already on a precipice of knowing I'm changing, I'm evolving, there's something more out there that I need to discover. Maybe just a little bit, feeling a little bit mundane, maybe in ordinary lives and stuff. So it's, it's women who are already intrigued, who are already interested in sort of I can move it to the next level or something like that.”“It fills you up and just to watch, you know, humanity, just make this leap forward in consciousness.”“But being in a space where you're held, where you're listened to, where you're not questioned, where you're not said, oh no you're wrong, don't say that. And it's just a sense of, like, unleashing something inside people that they just feel they're so empowered.”“I often wonder in society, what would society be like if we actually nurtured each other to be our own expressive, unique selves, rather than putting all of those confines and constraints on each other.”“We've got another aspect of ourselves over here, who is I'm called the wild person, the wild person that is saying, I'm not this person with the mask, I am this, I am that, I want to be free.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Ana who reads the tarot. Ana, who is from Brazil, was brought up to explore various healing traditions, her father being a healer within their community. From a young age, this opened her up to the complexities of how our energy and intentions have an impact on our wellbeing. When Ana was first guided to read the tarot, she was initially overwhelmed, unsure as to how this would be incorporated into her life. Over time however she began to find it an insightful tool to create a picture and to tell stories to guide the individuals that she worked with. Over time she developed additional skills such as studying astrology which she incorporates into her readings. KEY TAKEAWAYSHaving a reading can help to give confirmation about how we feel and where we want to go within our lives.A good quality tarot reading can help to show us what we need to know or what is playing out within our subconscious mind.To learn the tarot takes time and patience. When tuning in to another's energy, or giving a reading, it is important that the practitioner is in a good place mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Astrology can give a lot of insights into a person's character, their past and the challenges that they face.Tarot cards work best when they are read in conjunction with one another to give a deeper insight. BEST MOMENTS“I think that it was back in 2014, one of my guides said to me, you need to start being very prepared because you are going to be a healer of healers and then I was just like, oh my God, you must be joking.”“I think, I believe that it's the most precious thing that I ever came across in my life because it shows exactly what the eyes cannot see, you know? So, shows things about the subconsciousness. It shows like really, really everything that it's behind.”“You must be joking. I'm not going to buy tarot cards. And they were like, yes, you are going to buy tarot cards. And then I got really upset. You know what I mean? Because my first deck, I was just open it. And then I was just spreading the cards and I couldn't read anything. And I was just like, why are you doing that to me?”“But nowadays when I spread the cards in there, I see as they become like motion pictures.”“My father was a healer. So, six years old he was already like initiated me. Nine years old I was already like giving Reiki to people. So, they are like, it's studying and studying. I'm someone that studies a lot, quantum mechanics, archetypes. I study numerology, astrology.”“You know, every single card, it's so precious on its own and has its own, like, story to tell.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. During this conversation Zoe highlights that we all have our struggles and difficulties, but we are not taught how to effectively deal with these from being young. Zoe believes that if we were, we would be able to regulate our emotions with increased ease which would in turn improve our connection with ourselves and others. KEY TAKEAWAYSEmotions are there to give us a message. When we understand the messages that emotions give us, we can make positive changes.Mindfulness based techniques can help us to regulate our emotions and reactions.Emotions are transitory. We are not our behaviours. We can learn from our mistakes.Other people feel similar things to what we feel at different times of our lives. BEST MOMENTS“I just think it, for anybody, it can only be a good thing to understand yourself better and be kind to yourself as well.”“Just think from my own experience as well, of having mental health conditions from, so I had OCD from when I was six, and it's been a very hard journey for me. And we didn't have the kind of understanding, or it was like, ‘Oh, don't cry'.”“We're not alone. We all feel like this sometimes. Because I think that was a huge thing for me, actually, when I was little, I thought I was the whole world, like, and I just felt like nobody understood. I was all on my own, but we all have our struggles, and we all have our things.”“I think often we can be so critical and so harsh on ourselves. Far harsher than we would be if anyone else came to speak to us and said they were having a problem.”“You can't always control external life events but what you've always got that you can control and keep your power with is how you choose to think, feel and react.”“And you just think it's such a shame. I think because of the school system and how I feel really sorry for them because I know they try really hard, the teachers, but obviously there's so many children with different learning styles and different interests and not everybody is going to fit into that umbrella.”“Do you need a little cry? What do you need? Why are you here? Is there a reason you're visiting me?” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with David, a yoga practitioner who is also an experienced nurse and mental health practitioner. David initially began his yoga practice for fitness, in time noticing that the benefits went way beyond this, assisting with mental and emotional wellbeing, and spiritual connection. During this conversation, David discusses the parallels he has made between the medical model and within therapeutic and energetic practices such as yoga and different types of therapy, noting how these can play a vital role in supporting our health and well-being. KEY TAKEAWAYSThere is often an overlap between different types of therapies and well-being practice. When we resist life's circumstances, we struggle. We have innate wisdom within us to heal and release.Acceptance is an important aspect of healing. When we take care of our needs, it is easier to make better judgements and decisions. It is important to be able to honour and release different emotions. BEST MOMENTS“I see it in the way we respond when we have to go into a particular posture in yoga or one of the asana. This, and a lot of the grounding techniques that we accept, you know, that calm the nervous system, science recognizes them, they have been around for millennia.”“I think we still have the wisdom; I think innately we have it; I think it's ingrained. If you look at animals and kids for instance, like if a dog's stressed and it gets away and shakes off, doesn't it? You know, we do that as humans, but we kind of stop ourselves doing it because of the way we might look, you know, or how we're perceived.”“I mean the asana, the postures themselves, there's no hierarchy in them. So, I struggle in Sukhasana, which is easy pose. I struggle in that. But these postures I think are meant to represent the challenges in life. You know and completing them isn't the aim, it's how you respond to them.”“The most important relationship in the world is with yourself.”“And that's what suffering is, isn't it? It's resistance.”“And the more we do this, these little maintenance things for our lives, whether it is exercise, sleep, hydration, you know, co-regulation, you know, being with others, these little, tiny things, what that does to you is it affirms you, and you're then able to make better, more well-informed judgments and decisions.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Jacqui now uses her skills of connecting with each individual that she works with to give them guidance and support in their current circumstances, highlighting the importance of working ethically to meet the needs of each customer. BEST MOMENTS“I met a lady there who was a customer and she said to me, you're going to be doing, she was a reader as well, she said, you're going to be doing this. Well at the time, I was playing Patience. I suffer quite badly with anxiety, so the game of Patience calmed me. And I could honestly play it for about six hours at a time. It was ridiculous, got ridiculous. And I thought she was referring to that.”“I bought myself a tarot deck, the Scarpini tarot deck. If you don't know what that is, don't bother because it's beautiful to look at, but possibly one of the most difficult decks to get to grips with.”“Now my mentor, who is a wonderful woman, she, at that time, also introduced me to paganism. Which I'm very, well I live my life with the seasons, etc, and the moon phases and all of that.”“I then started organizing my own MBS fairs, which I've been doing that for about 25 years. And I love doing that. I have met some awesome people.”“What I love about the well-being industry, really, because we're such a community. And you make lifelong friends, and there's those people that I know if I'm ever having a bad day, if I'm struggling, if I'm feeling overwhelmed, we're there to support each other, to help each other, to guide each other and just bring each other back onto our paths.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Gary, whilst serving in the police force, was a self-professed functioning alcoholic and narcissist, blaming other people and external situations for his problems.Upon travelling across America however he had an epiphany, recognising the journey he had been on was symbolic of his life up until that point in time. This revelation made him realise that he had to change his ways, learning to take responsibility for himself and his reactions. A message that he now wishes to share with others. KEY TAKEAWAYSIndividuals will only become self-aware when they are ready to do so.Childhood experiences shape how you are in adulthood.By being present it can help us to discover what we want from life. The words we tell ourselves have meaning and can either help or hinder our quest for well-being.Everyone is on their own unique and individual journey.People and circumstances can hold up a mirror to us to help us see what we still need to address and heal.Taking responsibility for the self is important for healing and growth. BEST MOMENTS“If I'm honest, from my personal perspective, everybody wants help, but they won't admit that they need help, or they're not ready to understand that they need help.”“You don't plant a seed and then every day dig it up to see if it's growing.”“And I joined the Navy straight from school and it was all about, being a man, you know, you've gotta do this. Take it on the chin. Be brave. Then I was 20 years in the police, exactly the same. And then I realized that what does happen in your childhood has a massive effect. I was the son of a very, very violent man, very abusive, I had a very dysfunctional family.”“As I entered Tennessee, I started hallucinating, which incidentally got me onto realizing how the brain works, how we've got one brain, but two halves, you know, you've got the conscious brain and the subconscious brain. So, for two hours, I was driving completely hallucinating, there was demons getting in the car. There were all kinds of things happening. And people were trying to climb in, I couldn't see, taillights looking like demon's eyes and looking at my sat nav, I drove two hours without realizing where I was.”“All my life I've been chasing something and like the opposite end of a magnet, I've just pushed it further and further and further away. So, I realized it was time to turn the magnet around and start attracting.”“People bury things deep inside the subconscious.”“It's not the life circumstance that is your issue. I was able to communicate with more people, to discover how they think, how they live, their perspectives.”“I guess what led me into, you know, like coaching throughout my journey was really that desire to explore and to explore people in particular.”The first step, I believe, was a workshop I was lucky to attend from work, which was discovering your purpose and then I really reflected deeper, dipping into my childhood, into my crucial moments in life, into my strengths.”“It's a massive change. That really helps you being resilient because you can always get back to that purpose. And it kind of supports you and drives you.”When, a firefly is at threat, the light is off. And actually, when other fireflies help her, the light comes back on. And so, my idea is developing our inner strengths, our resilience to switch on our light. During this conversation, Lewis highlights how important it is to take care of your physical body, demonstrating that when this is out of alignment it can have a detrimental impact on all areas of your life. Exercise is required to keep the body working effectively.Posture plays a massive role upon our body and our health. BEST MOMENTS“It's very rare that you'll find people that are proactive in the beginning until they've gone through certain misfortunes and then they go, I don't want to be like this no more.”“If you have all the good stuff, plenty of fruits and veg, no processed stuff, your body is then better able to deal with the processed stuff that you'll put in.”“From our perspective, we're not here to tell you how to live your life. We want to take the stress out of your nervous system.”“When you're sat constantly, muscles aren't firing, you're not moving properly, your heart's slowing down, so things aren't being pushed around the system, but it is so important to move.”“We're always here to help our guests know, regardless of what's going on in their life, we want to try and help them the best. This experience was transformational for Donna, setting her on a new path of healing and wellbeing, encouraging her to leave behind the things that were no longer serving her. KEY TAKEAWAYSWhen you're in the wrong job or environment it can have a detrimental impact on your well-being. Reiki and energy healing can provide balance on all levels of your being.Connecting in with guides and angels can give a sense of comfort and support.Manifesting helps to change your mindset and turn your hopes into reality.Looking for signs from the Universe within our surroundings can help us to feel connected and guided.Grounding and protecting yourself is important when coming into contact with others' energies.Sometimes people and situations you have outgrown need to fall away to make room for new opportunities to emerge. BEST MOMENTS“You often could be chatting to a stranger or suddenly you say hello, or you make eye contact and the next thing they're telling their life story. So obviously, when I had my business, I met a lot of people, so there was always that connection, but it was also very draining.”“So anyway, I just trusted her, and she started sort of doing a little bit of like a meditation to relax me and things like that. And she proceeded to do Reiki and I just could feel myself relaxing. And then I could see colours floating in and out of my eyes.”“I felt so good. I completely had gone into that room, dark, upset, crying, aching, everything, just feeling really traumatized. Going home, I was buzzing.”“We started to manifest and do positive affirmations. And then we would be really woo woo and be asking the angels for help. In your head's rationale you think, no, I can't, what is she talking about, the angels?!”“I had a sign above the door, 3D letters that were pinned onto the wall sort of thing. The letters started falling off. One at a time. And I was like, it's just a sign, you know, the universe telling me that this isn't going to be in my life for much longer.”“Reiki one was such an enlightenment really because we had case studies to do, basically working on family and friends. They were my guinea pigs, but they were all completely blown away by the experience. And I was completely blown away by the experience. How can something like that be so powerful?”“If there's something that doesn't feel right, you have to listen to that and act on it and know that you can change the way it's making you feel. So, if you're in that job, that feels rubbish, there are ways out it. There are always opportunities. As time went on, he followed his calling, becoming a medium, a contrast from his professional role within the legal world. Through hard work and dedication, combined with the support of individuals such as Colin Fry, Barrie became a renowned medium regularly appearing on programmes such as Most Haunted and This Morning.During this episode Barrie highlights the comfort that contact with spirit can bring. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe all have the potential to develop mediumistic and psychic abilities.Contact from loved ones who have passed can provide comfort and reassurance. You can be both spiritual and also grounded and professional. The right people and circumstances come along to support us with our purpose.Time with the ones we love, and living your life as your authentic self is of great importance.Mediumship, readings and therapy can help to give direction and hope. The situations we experience in life can help to make us stronger.BEST MOMENTS“I get to it very often, even nowadays where I have to message a friend who's a psychic friend and go ‘What are you feeling on this?' ‘Where do you think I'm going with this?'”“A lot of people come to us out of grief, and that's one of the biggest things that we all see as professional, sort of therapists, where people maybe haven't had the chance to say goodbyes or maybe there was something hung over the family before they passed away, you know, and we all do this.”“And as I always say to people when I teach, one of the things you start looking at is yourself. You look at how you affect people, but also how people affect you.”“And I remember, basically being a young child, you know, and I remember being a child laying on my bed and watching figures falling from the sky or faces falling from the sky.”“And then I got into the paranormal, you know, and this was around the 90s even before the famous TV shows like Most Haunted.”“We all go through difficult times and it's not easy because we get lost, and I think we just get lost in life. But I think what I would say is just don't ever give up, remember that there is something better out there. We all go through these experiences of life, and it makes us a stronger person, it makes us who we are today.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. In today's episode of the Tranquil Awakenings Podcast, Debbie will be in conversation with Trina Kavanagh-Thomas, who works with female leaders who are wanting to create a change within their life. During this conversation, Trina will be sharing how through dissatisfaction, we can identify when things are no longer working for us within our lives. This can be used to create positive change, making sure the alterations we make are aligned with our current needs and values. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe often have to perform multiple different roles within our lives. When we are performing roles all the time, that can become exhausting, therefore self-care is important.Your body will tell you when you need to slow down or stop.A process of grieving can occur when we go through life's transitions. We may need to make changes in our lives in order to re-align ourselves with our current values.Dissatisfaction can make us aware that something needs to change. BEST MOMENTS“And it is an identity for a lot of people, you know, and for a lot of people they may find out that they're performing.”“I am the mechanic by the way. So when people come and see me, you know, they're in a position where their body is telling them, even though they can keep going, their body tells them in different ways that they need to stop.”“When I stepped away from my last business, I ran a fitness business. I ran it for eight years and, and it was quite big. I was running events; I was doing like classes and stuff. I was personal training. So there was like a massive following and when it comes time, you know it.”“A lot of that comes from validation and wanting to be recognized as well. And these are the things that I wasn't aware of when I was in that role.”“It's all about listening to your body, your intuition, your gut instinct. What does it feel like when certain things happen to you?“And I think, like you say, it's so essential because energy is something that flows all around and within us all of the time.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. After having several readings over a number of years, Mystic Mike came to accept that delivering readings is part of his life's purpose. Through the connection to an earlier spiritual experience he had as a teen, he eventually took note of the messages he was being given and decided to embark upon a journey of spiritual development and self-discovery. KEY TAKEAWAYSBeing of service to others is part of our spiritual purpose.Messages will keep being presented to us by the people we meet to help guide us onto the right path.Spiritual connection can provide individuals with feelings of peace and clarity.Taking on new learning or following a new path can initially feel scary, but once that change has been made, it can bring with it wonderful opportunities for fulfilment and growth. We are a combination of darkness and light and we need to work with both to become the best versions of ourselves that we can be.An attitude of curiosity and an open heart can allow us to explore life more freely. BEST MOMENTS“I believe that we all have a purpose and, you know, some of us find it a lot quicker than others and that's fine.”“I remember going on to this retreat when I was about 15 and I had some kind of, whether you want to call it some kind of mini awakening or something that happened.”“I had this first moment of feeling, and it was certainly a sensation that went right through my body in terms of this calmness and this kind of serenity and this peace and this surety, almost like, right, I know where I'm going now. I know what I've got to do. I know how I've got to resolve this.”“Life is a complete journey of self-discovery.”“And she just said to me, you've got the gift, you can do this. I'm like, I can't believe she just said that again. I was just, I was almost kind of hoping that she was going to say that's not the case, you know, and then I could just put it to bed.”“And I knew it was about service and I knew that it, this was the hole in the soul that I kind of needed to start to kind of feel and to, you know, it's, I guess it's almost turned my life completely around living spiritually because it's all about everybody else now and much less about me.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. Jane now works with clients around the world to help them explore their past lives so that they can heal in the present. KEY TAKEAWAYSLife changing situations can present opportunities for us to reflect on our life and take a different path.We are more then our human body, we are a soul that has lived through numerous lifetimes.Life situations are there to present us with challenges for our learning and growth. To some extent, we get an input into the lives that we choose to live.Past Life Regression can be cathartic and bring about healing and a state of well-being.Traumas from our previous lives can impact our present lifetime. BEST MOMENTS“I got up to one and a half thousand feet, and I got pulled back with such force. To be honest, there's nothing up there. My immediate thought was I ran into a plane or something, you know? So, I got pulled right back, which cracked my ribs, and it was really difficult to breathe.”“I'm thinking this can't be right, and I felt like I was a soul in a dead coffin body.”“I was looking down at myself thinking, well, I'm pretty sure that's me, but if that's me and I'm up here, then I must be dead. But if I'm dead, why am I thinking?”“He simply said, ‘I didn't want to go back, so I went back to spirit', and I said, ‘Well, how did you go back to spirit?' He said, ‘I was so shocked by the way that we were working with humanity and destroying humanity and the world that I simply unzipped my body and went back to spirit and was met by the council.'”“Memory is not just the physical ailments. We know that you can carry cancer or neuron diseases, et cetera, but it also carries emotion, mental issues, memories.”“What we don't understand is why you forget everything, you know, you're supposed to remember some things, but some people forget everything, and they come down to earth, and you are supposed to have these challenges in order to raise your awareness in order for you to grow.”“Well, the one thing that I have been told all the time is nothing lasts forever. It's a bit like the seasons and the tide of the wave that comes in and out. So, your grief, your joy, your anxiousness, it's a challenge for you to experience in order for you to grow, to gain your boundaries. Don't get stuck in that belief. Honour the emotions that you are feeling. Know that it will pass. Things will change. They will be different, but it won't last forever.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. BEST MOMENTS“I realize my magic bullet might not be the magic bullet for everybody else. However, I think it would be beneficial to a lot of people. So that's been a fascinating journey in itself.”“I'm so surprised, I never in a million years thought that I would be resolving my stuff from a physiological point of view, coming from the physical. Being one that has really avoided anything to do with exercise over the last 30 years, other than perhaps lifting a guitar cabinet on stage in my previous life as a musician.”“We're all unique and we're all different. And I find it fascinating watching everybody's journey and what works for them and what doesn't work for them. And also watching people unfold and change and evolve.”“And people still now, they will message me, people that I don't know, to say how my book has impacted their lives, which is just, I never expected that at all. I expected half a dozen friends to maybe read it.”“Well, I'm sure maybe I was reluctant to sign up and then they said, ‘Well, I'll tell you what, before you get round to doing all this, we'll leave you a period where you can, play in a band, go on a tour around the world, have beers and food, groupies, and do your little fun bit, and then you've got to do your spiritual stuff.'”“She'll tap in with her guides and yes, that's exactly correct, that's the information we need, and we encourage you to go and work on this energy vortex that's been opened or this portal that's been opened.”“I'm so passionate about getting people together, to be able to give them that space and time away from their busy lives, just to be able to switch off. KEY TAKEAWAYSSelf-expression and creativity can be beneficial for mental health and well-being.As well as having goals to work towards, it is also important to enjoy the journey along the way. Surrendering is an art that, when practiced, allows for space to be created and situations to unfold organically. By relaxing the body, it can help to relax the mind.Therapeutic work is a journey that goes at a varied pace at different times of your life.Acceptance can help to reduce resistance. The body gives us messages when things are not right. BEST MOMENTS“Which I hadn't thought, when I first went into training, I was like oh, I've done a fine art degree, what's this got to do with it? But yeah, over the years I see it as probably one of my greatest assets, actually having that background. And the beauty of doing a fine art degree is that it is a lot about self-expression.”“One of my biggest lessons, certainly in the past few years has been around that surrendering into process as well, and that's, you know, and I still journey with that now there is no finished article, is there?”“I feel that when my body can let go, my mind then goes, Oh, okay, I'll follow suit.”“Over the last year I've had a period with a breathwork facilitator. And that for me has been such a tonic. It's been a real eye-opening journey into my relationship with myself.”“You know, you work with one layer and then there's another one and another one, you keep peeling them back. And for me as well, there's something about that. As much as we're learning, we're also doing a heck of a lot of unlearning.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. During this conversation Debbie and John will explore the stress response and how feeling stressed and overwhelmed provide us with a message about what is not working in our lives. They will also explore how they learn, and discuss how the ways we attribute meaning to our experiences can impact how we feel about them. KEY TAKEAWAYSImmersing yourself in an experience using all of your senses can be a really powerful way to learn a new skill. We can gain feedback from the world around us through using all of our senses. We need to adapt our way of communicating depending on who we are communicating with to ensure that they understand the information we are conveying. Our beliefs impact the way we learn and interact with others.A variety of experiences can be therapeutic.Stress can be an expression of what isn't working for us. BEST MOMENTS“How do you acquire a new skill, a new therapeutic approach? I'd be fascinated to know, maybe you've thought about this, maybe you have broken it down for yourself.”“So, as you say, you know, you'll see things, you'll hear things, you'll smell things, you'll feel things. There's a relational aspect to that. So, you're kind of recognizing that all of that's going on and it's going to happen anyway. You don't necessarily need to intellectualize about it or theorize about it.”“It's the age-old thing for me of that balance between theory and practice.”“But there are all sorts of things in life where actually it then starts to become a little bit more difficult to draw those distinctions and one of them might be you know, what's therapy and what's not therapy?”“And very often I'll find myself saying, if we're getting into weird territory, that's usually a really good sign. The weirder it is, probably, you know, the more interesting the territory that we're getting into.”“I'm curious about how we bridge those expectation gaps. Because, you know, if we can, there's a way that I think we can reduce the amount of time sometimes we spend helping individuals to acclimatise to ways of looking after themselves or ways of going through a process of change.” "Being open to recognizing that sometimes how we think about something is 99 percent of how something is." BEST MOMENTS“I try and get people to smell it because once they smell it, then they understand what the essential oils and the sprays are all about.”“Whenever people struggle with stress and anxiety, and we've got our, we want time to think, space to think. What do we do is we take a walk to the woods, or we go into the forest and it's like our peace. It's like our sanctuary.”“And the vetiver is an oil that's used for the brain really. It's used for the ADHD, autism, mental health, sleep, so it's quite a powerful oil.”“Well, lo and behold, about two weeks, I got a message to say that his son carries the bottle around with him. And it's the first time he's felt relaxed and he's great.”“If you've got like cuts, wounds, anything like that, lavender is fantastic because it will protect your cut. It'll protect it from bugs, bacteria, and it's good for pain relief. It's antibacterial.”And I think there's a lot of positives, with the young ones. I know you hear a lot of the older generation complaining about them, but they are becoming more conscientious about health, about well-being, about caring for one another.”“If we've relied on all the herbs and all the healthy stuff now, alongside us having clean water, alongside us having food that we can keep without it going rotten and horrible. And now that we've got more knowledge of how things work, if we put it all together, wow, we'd be healthy.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. As part of this conversation, they discuss the spooky goings on in Debbie's childhood home and how interests that we have as a child can be re-ignited as adults. KEY TAKEAWAYSWe can learn a lot from children in terms of the way they interact with the world around them. The importance of allowing children and others to be able to share their experiences without the fear of judgement. Our identity can often become shaped by the roles that we play within our life e.g. parent, partner, employee. It is important to make time for your own wellbeing and development beyond these roles and expectations. Childhood experiences can influence our lives as adults. The environment you are in and the people you are around can make a big difference to your wellbeing. BEST MOMENTS“And that's kind of like our experience growing up, our parents obviously loved us in their own way, but we spent a lot of our time fending for ourselves.”“You can learn so much from a child as well. They are wonderful. They speak and say what they think and what they mean. And it's really lovely to hear it because they're coming from a different place and it's so nice. The world looks so beautiful in their eyes and there's so much to do and explore.”“But then after that we travelled to see your grandma in a nursing home, and I was a toddler at the time. It was the first time I thought about death.”“It wasn't a house that I would have ever picked, but it was near the school, and it had the room we needed. I never quite liked the feel of it.”“As you all got older, more seemed to happen, like I could be on my own in the house, just doing housework downstairs, and I'd hear one of you children shout me from upstairs, and I'd go up and then realise you were all at school.”“That's the time when I started to find out more about me, and who I was rather than being somebody's mum and somebody's wife, it's the time when I started to find out about me.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. During this dialog, Debbie and Dave discuss their connection, which leads onto a conversation about mental health and spiritual experiences. Throughout Dave's career he placed great importance on working with the individual as a whole, looking at how they could be supported in all aspects of their well-being and spiritual awareness.Dave highlights the significance of being able to safely explore emotions and the different facets of human experience in order to promote recovery, healing and growth. KEY TAKEAWAYSThe medical model doesn't currently factor in emotional awakening or spiritual experiences. The world around us can have an impact on our well-being.Connecting with nature can help to ground us and settle our emotions. It is important to find your tribe who speak the same language as you. We have the answers within us and when we are given time and a safe space to explore, this can lead to positive and profound transformation. It is important to build up resilience and become aware that emotions are a natural part of human experience in response to different situations.Taking responsibility for our actions and behaviours is important for healing and well-being. BEST MOMENTS“I think the Western world tends to push most of the time about somebody's mentally ill. And he said to me, he'd seen her, he'd assessed her, and he said, I think this is somebody that you need to see.”“And that's how they're trained. There's nothing that they ever do in terms of knowledge gaining that is to do with emotional awakenings or the spiritual connections.“I reflected and thought, well, if she'd been seen straight away by one of our psychiatrists, she would have been deemed seriously unwell, diagnosed, medicated and possibly incarcerated, really, you know, sectioned on the mental health act.”“But this is something that's fascinated me for years. It's this idea of lunacy. Well, lunar is about connecting with the planets, the moon, the shifting of all those sorts of things. And why are we naïve enough to believe that if the lunar cycles can shift oceans and tides, why can we not be shifted by that?”“If people were taken to a tribe somewhere else who understood this idea of voices, seeing things, they would be revered as quite shamanic, quite insightful, quite connected to different things.” HOST BIODebbie is a seasoned therapist whose journey from being a primary school teacher to an adept therapist has been fuelled by her fascination with the intricacies of human nature. By working on ourselves and making positive changes, we can become empowered.Embracing life circumstances and practicing gratitude can be really empowering in moving forward. We have opportunities to learn from everyone we meet.
