So I just heard on the news that Netflix is about to start adding advertising commercials onto their platform. After hearing this my initial opinion is that Netflix's stock shares will plummet and they will lose about a million subscribers.There is no way on this earth that I will pay money for a streaming service and get littered with advertisements. Turning Red is a computer-animated fantasy comedy about a 13-year old girl named Meilin who is torn between being her mother's obedient daughter and the chaos of her youth. To make matters worse whenever she experiences strong emotion she turns into a giant red panda.I, like most of you watching this review, saw the trailer and decided to give it a watch. Wish Dragon is a computer-animated fantasy written and directed by Chris Applehans and produced by Jackie Chan. Applehans is an illustrator, production designer, and film director from Idaho. He's best known for his children's book illustrations and his work on Wish Dragon, City of Ember, and Coraline.Wish Dragon is about a college student named Din who is longing to reconnect with his childhood friend LiNa. When he meets a wish-granting dragon he discovers the magic of possibilities.If I had to compare Wish Dragon with other films I would say that it's Aladdin meets A Christmas Carol. Confused? Well, let me explain. Our main character Din is a lower-class college teen trying to reconnect with his rich childhood best friend. He feels like he can't get access to her unless he looks like he has money. Here is where our wish dragon comes into play. See? Aladdin. The subplot of the story deals with the Wish Dragon Long needing to find the true meaning of a good life. Kinda like how Ebeneezer Scrooge had to recount his life to find his missteps and become a good person. Action Pack is a kid's TV show about a group of kid heroes packed with superpowers that work together to stop the baddies and even bring out the good in them.I was first introduced to this show through my kid who always ends up making me watch a new TV show every five seconds. Even though there are a lot of mediocre shows on Netflix kids (of which they have decided to dub themselves “Netflix Jr”, like Nick Jr.) I really like this one. The ending I'm a little confused about, but work through this confusion with me. So Dan goes into the Other World to retrieve Melody. He gets tempted but doesn't fall for it. Awesome-tastic I'm proud of him. He finds Melody, but she wanders off while he's trying to find a way out and she encounters kalego. Dan grabs her and quickly makes haste for the exit. He's not sure with the door is the right one, but before he can make a decision Samuel comes out of nowhere grabs Melody, and shoves her through the gate. When Melody falls out of the portal back to the Real World only she returns and Samuel is nowhere to be found.If Samuel is pulling Melody through the portal shouldn't he have returned as well? Where the hell did he go? Is he in the present as well, but in another place on earth? Did he arrive in another part of the compound? Did he run into his brother? Archive 81 is an American horror about a video archivist hired to restore video footage of a filmmaker investigating a dangerous cult.The show is directed by horror master James Wan and stars Mamoudou Athie and Dina Shihabi. Mamoudou plays Dan a video archivist that is hired to restore a collection of videotapes that feature Melody (Dina Shihabi) at an apartment complex called the Visser, investigating residents and the weird things that happen there. The Whole Truth is a Thai supernatural mystery thriller about two siblings that stumble upon a hole on the wall of their grandparent's house. Episodes seven and eight finish off this action-packed, emotional, and suspenseful joy ride known as My Name. In Episode seven Giho has all the evidence he needs to obtain an arrest warrant and book Choi Mujin who I will start affectionately calling Uncle Choi. Jiwoo didn't complete the job to assassinate her boss Giho so he sends Taeju (who also didn't complete the job). Uncle Choi and Taeju fear that Jiwoo knows the truth about what he did, so he orders his men AND Taeju to take her out. Here is where the roller-coaster for this series starts. We go up and down from action to suspense all episode long. Jiwoo does things that appear to be against her intentions, but we later find out that it was part of her plan all along. They end the episode on a cliffhanger when Jiwoo is caught by Pildo and put into an interrogation room. My Name episodes four through six were packed with action, tense moments, and heart-wrenching emotions. If you haven't watched episodes one through three, seriously, watch them and come back here. Episode four starts us off with the funeral of Dongcheon gang members that died in the skirmish with Ganjae and his thugs. This lull gives us the opportunity to have some very tense interactions with Giho (the police chief) and Choi Mujin. With just a few minutes of interaction, you can tell that they totally hate each other. Choi Mujin has to tolerate the police chief's presence because he can't kill a cop. And that is what I feel like this story is all about. Given the information, I have from episodes one through six. I feel like Choi Mujin has always wanted to get rid of Giho and he just needed a person and perfect catalyst to get his dirty work done for him. Jiwoo is that person. Songs for this film were written by Lin-Manuel Miranda who also voices Vivo.The story follows Vivo a music-loving Kinkajou who must embark on a journey of a lifetime to deliver a love song for a friend.I was bombarded with marketing for this film every time I logged onto Netflix, so I thought what the hay… Vivo is a very emotionally touching film. If you're not a person that enjoys being in your feelings or if you like your animations fun-loving, joyous and silly, this may not be for you. There were quite a few times in this film where I was in my feelings on some really emotional scenes. Well, after taking an unexpected vacation from Movie Complex to hang out with family for the holiday, I didn't post a video for the first time in 2 years. It was weird and I don't know if I'll ever do it again, but it was really needed. Anyways,Paper Tigers is a martial arts comedy-drama about three middle-aged kungfu prodigies that set out to avenge the murder of their master. I came across this film by accident on Netflix and I'm really glad I did. I'm a big kungfu-head if you guys didn't know, and I'm a big fan of the Golden era of Kungfu films. This film is an instant call back or homage to those Golden era films.  I just found out that the producer of the film is Yuji Okumoto an actor for the films Karate Kid Part 2 and Cobra Kai, and that's what this movie feels like. It feels like an honest love letter to Karate Kid and martial arts films. And you know what? Usually, TV shows start with a cold open, but this episode started with a blazing hot opening. The first 2 minutes take us through the tug-of-war scene that was the cliffhanger for the previous episode. Episode four shows us the aftermath of game two. Players are forming alliances in preparation for whatever game comes next. During morning roll call and breakfast Deok-su's gang decide to take a second ration from the PlayStation guards. He gets caught and is confronted by the player who didn't get food. Deok-su beats the player to death. The PlayStation guards don't intervene and everyone watches frozen in horror.
