On the forty- fourth episode of All the Film Things, I had the pleasure of interviewing award- winning screenwriter/ novelist/ film director Steven Bernstein! Steven Bernstein has been working in the industry for nearly 40 years behind the camera, often as a cinematographer, under the direction of acclaimed filmmakers from Noah Baumbach to Patty Jenkins before directing his own feature films. He earned a Golden Lion at the Cannes Film Festival early in his career for working as a cinematographer on commercials in the UK. Steven has been the director of photography on nearly 50 films, some of which include critically acclaimed films Like Water for Chocolate (1993) and Monster (2003), and beloved comedies such as The Waterboy (1998) and White Chicks (2004). Alongside Emmanual Lubezki, Steven earned the Best Artistic Contribution Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival for his work on the 1993 film Like Water for Chocolate. Steven's directorial feature film debut, Decoding Annie Parker (2013), earned him The Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize at the 2013 Hamptons International Film Festival and his sophomore directorial feature, Last Call (2017) was hailed as “Oscar- worthy” and earned lead actor Rhys Ifans the Best Actor award at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. Steven also co-hosts, alongside Vince Grimes, the terrific and insightful weekly podcast “Filmmaker and Fan's” which you should all check out on the same platform you listen to ATFT on but here's the link to listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0cepNNzk8evxnNEAPUPXPX?si=33b9632bbe4a49e9 Steven's debut novel, a thriller titled GRQ: Get Rich Quick, was published on June 3 and has been continuously earning rave reviews so definitely buy yourself a copy now wherever books are sold, including Barnes & Noble through this link: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/grq-steven-bernstein/1147259290! This novella, which is set over the course of one day in a seemingly doomed Los Angeles that regularly faces natural disasters, follows Marlon who, unbeknownst to his wife, quickly tries to come up with the money needed to save the house from being repossessed leading him to make a dicey investment in cryptocurrency. GRQ, which is the first of a series in the works, ends with a surprising twist that provokes a lot of questions by considering what is important in life. GRQ: The Movie, which Steven directed based on his book, will be having a worldwide theatrical release later this year so I'll keep you all updated here on the ATFT Instagram on its release! This is Steven's first time on ATFT! We got connected on Instagram over a year ago through the comments under a post he made about the film 20th Century Women! This episode was recorded on May 29, 2025. In this episode, Steven talks about the films and filmmaker who made him fall in love with cinema, the film industry currently being in crises, and the technical, underlying ways to bring out a great performance as both a cinematographer and filmmaker. Steven also discusses the unique, visceral experience of cinema, working closely with Charlize Theron on the film that earned her an Oscar, what he hopes people take away from his films, and much more on the latest episode of All the Film Things! Background music created and used with permission by the Copyright Free Music - Background Music for Videos channel on YouTube.

Antes disso, houve o fundo do poço.

That flows nicely into some stories from a Por Osos gay bar takeover where Tom was apparently the belle of the very gay ball. Meanwhile, CP confesses she had a dream that Tom adopted a selfishly sinful life that involved slurping white, kinky clubbing, and hanging out with Charlize Theron. Then it's time for a call with Tony Johns, who updates the Mommies on why he got kicked out of a local dive bar, his new OnlyFans photo hustle, and his upcoming scene with Alexis Fawx. Speaking of MILFs, Mother's Day is around the corner, so consider grabbing one of Mommy Christina's latest lipsticks for that special broad in your life. We also get an Enny story about his dream girl who ruined it all with a single turd, and a deep dive into some toxic clips, some ladyboy goodness, and a TikTok buffet featuring sprite burps, gendered hair, buttered bread, tapi tapi, and a man with underwear on his head who may or may not be a genius. Plus Christina presents a dealbreaker scenario with a nudist and an environmentalist. This one's packed tighter than a stuffed pet collection. Also filmed in a month? Jason Reitman's 2011 feature Young Adult, starring Charlize Theron. Play your flame guitar as you cue up the 655th edition of Have You Ever Seen to hear us jaw about the loner known as Max Rockatansky, but stay for the Imperator known as Furiosa. George Miller's 6-time Oscar-winner was the 4th in a series that already featured one of the greatest stunt movies ever made (The Road Warrior), but then he and his team managed to easily top it with Fury Road. And just as it was with the earlier pre-CGI films, most of the remarkable and dangerous stuff was done practically! Tom Hardy is solid casting in taking over the role that made Mad Mel Gibson a star, but this movie belongs to Charlize Theron as Furiosa. She, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and the other fantastic female characters are the standouts in a surprisingly feminist film. So drive out, then drive back home as we head over to Australia (well, Namibia, really) and wrap up another Oscar Month with a detailed chat about Mad Max: Fury Road. Well, Actually: we said that it's unlikely Miller will get to make more films in this series because Furiosa bombed last year, but Mad Max: The Wasteland IS in pre-production. Welcome back to Born to Watch, the movie podcast where we dive deep into the films that define genres, push boundaries, and leave audiences speechless. This week, we're tackling one of the greatest action films of the modern era with our Mad Max Fury Road (2015) Movie Review. When George Miller resurrected the Mad Max franchise in 2015, nobody expected just how monumental Fury Road would become. A two-hour adrenaline rush packed with death-defying stunts, high-speed chases, and jaw-dropping practical effects, this film redefined what action movies could be. From the stunning cinematography to the minimal but powerful storytelling, Fury Road remains a cinematic triumph. But where does it rank in the Mad Max series? And is it truly a Mad Max movie, or does Furiosa steal the show? The BTW team breaks it all down.Mad Max Returns—But Is He the Star?Tom Hardy takes over the iconic role of Max Rockatansky, a road-weary survivor haunted by his past. But does Max get lost in the dust in a film filled with larger-than-life warlords, kamikaze war boys, and a heavy-metal guitarist strapped to a flame-throwing rig?Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa might be the real heart of Fury Road. Her mission to rescue the wives of the tyrannical Immortan Joe drives the story forward, and her character's emotional depth makes her one of the most compelling action heroines of all time. We discuss whether Fury Road is more of a Furiosa film than a Max one—and how this dynamic affects the franchise as a whole.Behind-the-Scenes Mayhem: A Production NightmareThe journey to bring Mad Max Fury Road to life was almost as chaotic as the movie. Originally planned to film in the Australian Outback, unexpected rainstorms turned the barren wasteland into a flower-filled paradise, forcing the production to move to Namibia. Months of gruelling desert shoots, on-set conflicts, and the sheer ambition of the stunts made this one of the most difficult productions in recent memory.George Miller, the mastermind behind the franchise, pushed for practical effects wherever possible. Almost everything you see on screen—the insane car chases, the gravity-defying stunts, and the war rigs tearing across the desert—was done for real. The result? It is a visceral, pulse-pounding experience unlike anything else. The Legacy of Fury RoadWhen Fury Road hit theatres, it was more than just a blockbuster—it was a game-changer. The film scored 10 Oscar nominations, winning six, including Best Editing for George Miller's wife, Margaret Sixel. But beyond the awards, Fury Road proved that practical effects, real stunts, and original storytelling could still dominate in an era of CGI-heavy action films. But how does it hold up nearly a decade later? Does Fury Road deserve a spot among the greatest action movies ever? And where does it sit in the Mad Max franchise compared to The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome? The BTW Verdict: An Action MasterpieceWith non-stop action, unforgettable characters, and some of the most visually stunning cinematography in movie history, Mad Max Fury Road is a must-watch for any action fan. Whether you're revisiting it for the tenth time or experiencing it for the first, there's no denying that this film is a relentless, high-octane thrill ride from start to finish.Tune in to this week's episode as we break down every explosive moment, debate the film's legacy, and determine if Fury Road is the best Mad Max film yet. Don't forget to leave a review, share the episode with fellow movie lovers, and share your thoughts on the film!

Her parents told her sisters that Mary had run away from home, but Mary was never reported missing by her parents and according to them, Mary never made contact again with her family. Twenty two years later, Mary's sister, Sherrie, wanted answers and finally reported Mary missing. What happened next was a bizarre set of circumstances that has left police and the public confounded to this day as to what REALLY happened to Mary. Listen now to find out more about this strange case!Geordie follows with a story of trail-cam footage, a missing backpack and a skeleton found in a forest that remains, as of the time of this recording, unidentified. What makes this case even more strange is that this all happened in 2022, but the details of the case only came to light in 2024. No media attention, no news reports and, if not for a handful of Reddit sleuths, this case might never have seen the light of day. Directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk), this chapter brings back our favorite street racers for another round of gravity-defying stunts and heart-pounding action. The film kicks into gear with the Rome Bomb Chase, where Dom and his crew race against time through the streets of Rome to prevent a massive bomb from detonating near the Vatican, showcasing the film's signature blend of speed and suspense. Jason Momoa's portrayal of Dante Reyes takes center stage in the unforgettable Dante's Unhinged Interrogation, where he chillingly converses with two cadavers, revealing his twisted psyche and cementing his place as one of the franchise's most menacing villains. Meanwhile, the Letty vs. Cipher Showdown delivers an intense hand-to-hand combat scene between Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and the enigmatic cyber-terrorist Cipher (Charlize Theron), highlighting both actors' fierce performances. In a poignant twist, Jakob's Sacrifice sees John Cena's Jakob Toretto making the ultimate sacrifice to protect his family, adding emotional weight to the high-speed narrative. Hello everyone and welcome to an all new episode of Some Like It Scott! Delving into the catalogue of episodes we recorded last year to only post now, the two Scotts are starting with the Thanksgiving premiere of one of the biggest domestic movies of the year: WICKED PART 1. After discussing Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the world of Oz, and the music and themes, the co-hosts turn their attention to talk about a now quite dated story of Charlize Theron being cast in Christopher Nolan's upcoming film (at the time we didn't know it was an adaptation of THE ODYSSEY and were very confused why all these big name actresses were signing on for a helicopter film), before discussing JJ Abrams' upcoming under-wraps project. See time codes below:   8:55 - WICKED PART 1 review 59:31 - Charlize Theron cast in Christopher Nolan's next film 1:06:11 - Casting for JJ Abrams' next film   Next time: GLADIATOR 2   Patreon: www.patreon.com/MediaPlugPods
