Welcome back to Wrestling Tonight, your weekly look at everything happening across WWE, AEW, ROH, and beyond. Episode 140 dives into one of the busiest weeks of the year as WWE made its debut in Paris, AEW confirmed a major injury update, and ROH delivered a newsworthy Death Before Dishonor. We begin with a full recap of WWE Clash in Paris. Roman Reigns defeated Bronson Reed, but the aftermath stole the spotlight as Reigns attacked Paul Heyman before being dismantled by Reed and Bron Breakker. Reigns was left strapped to a stretcher, starting the night with one of the most striking visuals WWE has produced all year. The card also saw Rusev forcing Sheamus to submit in a violent Donnybrook, John Cena outlasting Logan Paul in one of his final major singles matches and Seth Rollins retaining the World Heavyweight Championship in a four-way after Becky Lynch interfered against CM Punk. Rollins and Lynch stood tall together to close the show as a heel power couple, setting the stage for a new direction in WWE's main event scene. From there, we look at AEW. Swerve Strickland underwent knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus, leaving his status uncertain for the rest of 2025. The news arrives as reports suggest AEW pay-per-views may soon be available on HBO Max, a potential move that would reshape the company's distribution model and give fans broader access to its biggest shows. In Lyon, Sami Zayn gave the French crowd a memorable moment by defeating Solo Sikoa to win the United States Championship for the first time. With Jacob Fatu's return evening the odds, Zayn finally captured singles gold again and celebrated one of the defining victories of his career in front of an electric audience. We close with ROH Death Before Dishonor. Despite streaming issues that led to the event being made free on YouTube, the show delivered significant results. This week, we're back and we brought a friend, as we head back to the cinema for another In Theaters Now edition of the podcast, and bring returning favourite Matt Pollock (@mattysmovies4ever) along with us for the relaunch of a movie that was a childhood fave of both Justin and Matty, but is all new to Hayley, our resident Lonely Island obsessive... It's 2025's The Naked Gun, directed by Akiva Schaffer, written by Akiva Schaffer, Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, and starring Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Danny Huston, CCH Pounder, and pod favourite Kevin Durand, with a slew of cameos along the way as well. While it would be foolish to doubt that the man who made Popstar or Hot Rod would be ill equipped to handle a Naked Gun relaunch, it seems just as foolish to believe a legacy remake of a classic 80s comedy property could possibly be good, or a good idea. As it turns out, this one is great, skewering north of two decades' worth of action films that have gone largely unspoofed, while (fingers crossed) reviving the concept of the Big Summer Comedy altogether. Like a 100-layer lasagna of laughter, there is an unprecedented joke density to this script, and they nearly all land right in the ribs. An incredibly funny film from start to finish, the convergence of two of the pod's great loves, we simply had to discuss it. And of course, while this whole episode is covering a movie currently in theaters, we've also got Theatrical Field Reports on Superman, Fantastic Four: First Steps, Weapons, and Eddington! If you'd like to watch the movie before listening along to our discussion, it's currently showing at your local multiplex but will likely find its way to Paramount+ roughly five weeks from now. In 1998, we got the sequel to the movie “The Fully-Clothed Gun”, known as “The Naked Gun.” Leslie Nielsen played ace detective Frank Drebin who showed everyone the wrong way to be a cop. Now, in 2025, we're getting the inevitable. A remake of “The Naked Gun” starring Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr. who now has to carry on his father's legacy of being a cautionary tale with a badge who shoots first, asks questions much later, sometimes never. This reboot is brought to us by the same guys who brought us “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping” and countless SNL skits, the Lonely Island boys. They get some help from Seth McFarlane from the “Ted” movies and “Family Guy.” Pamela Anderson, who never saw a boat she didn't have fun on, plays Frank's love interest. Sorry, no boat scene in this movie. They go up against the evil tech billionaire that I'm sure wasn't at all modeled after Elon Musk. He's played by Danny Huston who slimes his way across the screen. We present our review of The Naked Gun 2025!The Naked Gun is a 2025 American crime action comedy film directed by Akiva Schaffer and written by Schaffer, Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. The fourth film in The Naked Gun franchise, it stars Liam Neeson in the main role, with Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Danny Huston starring in supporting roles. It follows the son of Lt. Frank Drebin who must succeed in his father's footsteps to prevent the closure of Police Squad.A fourth The Naked Gun film was originally announced in 2009, as a direct-to-TV sequel starring Leslie Nielsen. However, the film languished several years of development, including being redeveloped as a reboot starring Ed Helms in 2013. It was later officially announced in January 2021 that Seth MacFarlane had been hired to develop the project, and he expressed interest in casting Neeson in the main role. Although MacFarlane was hired to direct, Schaffer replaced him after the film was greenlit in October 2022, and Neeson was officially cast in the main role. Anderson was cast in April 2024, and further casting took place the following month. Filming began in Atlanta that month and wrapped in June.The Naked Gun premiered at the SVA Theater in Manhattan on July 28, 2025, and was released in the United States and United Kingdom by Paramount Pictures on August 1, 2025.
