Ben and Rob feel “DREDD”, the 2013 Pete Travis directed adaptation of 2000AD's megastar character Judge Dredd, starring Karl Urban, Lena Headey and Olivia Thirlby. Written by Alex Garland (director of ‘Ex Machina', ‘Civil War', ‘Warfare'), ‘DREDD' struggled to make back its budget, despite good reviews and praise for its accuracy to the source material. But why did ‘DREDD' flop so hard at the box office? Was it the studio's awful need for this to be ‘DREDD 3D'? The general public not knowing who the hell Judge Dredd is? Or was it due to a certain secret director having to save the project from Pete Travis, the credited leader of the adaptation?CONSUUUME to find out all this and much MUCH more!PLUS! In this episode, I break down how The Martian's landscapes, Gravity's weightlessness, Dredd's surreal slow-motion sequences, and Edge of Tomorrow's intense battlefields create unforgettable cinematic experiences.Tune in now for a deep dive into these incredible 3D sci-fi films! Whether you're a movie buff, sci-fi fan, or 3D enthusiast, this episode is packed with insights, analysis, and a discussion of how these films continue to leave a lasting impact. The Martian (2015)A gripping survival drama that follows Mark Watney (Matt Damon), an astronaut stranded on Mars after a disastrous mission. Directed by Ridley Scott, this film combines thrilling realism with humor and heart, showcasing NASA's ingenuity and the power of the human spirit. Co-starring Jessica Chastain, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Donald Glover.Gravity (2013)A technical masterpiece that redefined modern visual effects,Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are astronauts stranded in orbit after their shuttle is destroyed. Welcome to another episode of Death Don't Do Fiction, the AIPT Movies podcast! The podcast about the enduring legacy of our favorite movies! This February we're celebrating “Dreddruary,” where we cover movies based on the British comic book character, Judge Dredd! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and Matt discuss Karl Urban's 2012 dark dystopian action massacre, Dredd!Impressive use of a low budget! A near-future that seems (unfortunately) believable! Quick and effective world-building! Really cool helmets! A very dangerous atrium! A simple, contained story inspired by the action classic, The Raid! A surprisingly stripped-down comic book movie, especially when compared with modern examples! Absolutely brutal slow motion violence! Absurdly large buildings! A solid cast that includes Olivia Thirlby, Wood Harris, Harry Potter's Domhnall Gleeson with blue cyber eyes, an uncomfortably cruel Lena Headey, and the lower half of Karl Urban's face doing some of the greatest frown-acting you've ever seen! A movie based on a British comic book about America, starring European people doing American accents, which may also secretly be the first movie directed by Civil War's Alex Garland! In addition, Alex shares his spoiler-free thoughts on The Wolf of Snow Hollow, the new Valentine's Day-themed slasher, Heart Eyes, and the genre-bending thriller Companion! You can find Death Don't Do Fiction on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends! The Death Don't Do Fiction podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! What better way to celebrate our 300th episode than by reviewing Zack Snyder's 300. We're talking Gerard Butler's beard, Lena Headey's unnecessarily exploitative side plot, Michael Fassbender's iconic queer performance, all the racism and ableism, as well as the 'Age of Empires' visuals that totally hold up. However, this episode has a twist... Neither Sandro nor Zach actually watched the movie this week...

What herbs and nutrients can be helpful for skin needing some help with hormone balance? When do most people often experience significant hormone shifts? Listen to my conversation with Herbal Chemist and Holistic Skincare Expert, Julie Longyear as she shares the biggest ways hormones influence skin health and a behind the scenes look at the beauty and skincare industry.Learn more about Julie Longyear:In her late 20s Julie was beset by adult acne and the frustration and failed attempts to calm her skin finally led her to take matters into her own hands. After dozens of storebought products only made things worse a unique, personally handcrafted herbal moisturizer was what finally set her on the path to peace with her skin. She transitioned her herbal products business into skincare and launched a full facial care collection in 2009. Over the last 15 years her products have positively impacted tens of thousands of people, won over a dozen industry awards, and been used by famous faces like Lena Headey, Carice Van Houten, and Dakota Fanning. As a former shopper, and as someone who still has sensitive, acne prone skin in middle age Julie understands what it's like to feel frustrated and unsure about what product to purchase and who to trust. It's important for her to leave each person smarter and more empowered, and to provide an authentic, transparent voice of reason in the marketing quagmire that is the modern cosmetic industry.Visit website: https://blissoma.com/advertorial-landing-page/Ways to work with Rachel Varga!FREE 30-minute Biohacking For Ageless Beauty Training! https://www.theschoolofradiance.com/freebiesDownload Radiance: The New Skin Science on Audible!Book a One-on-one with Rachel Varga for customized skin care, rejuvenation guidance, and ongoing support! https://www.theschoolofradiance.com/consultation and use code Podcast15!Shop skincare, make-up, hair/skin/nail supplements, grooming tools, dermal rollers, and much more! https://alwaysradiantskinshop.com/Register for my next weekly LIVE and FREE Masterclass on various topics where I answer your questions! https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwuceioqTwiE9O1K1fF1vnLqZBlCvPdkDWc The video replays (which are highly interactive) are available on my skin shop for a small fee here!Join Seasonal Skincare Expert Tutorials on skincare, makeup, hair care (and growth), biohacking, clean peels, pre and post-rejuvenation tips, dermal rolling, and advanced at-home technologies for the face and body! https://www.theschoolofradiance.com/Join The School of Radiance Membership for your personal radiant transformation by cultivating resilient radiance through detoxing from environmental toxins, enhancing communication, enhancing relationships, etiquette, and much more: https://www.theschoolofradiance.com/membershipAs a disclaimer, please note that the information shared in this podcast and interview is not to be taken as medical advice, and it's always important to consult with your physician before making any lifestyle changes. Katie and special guest/surrogate sister Christine murder without consequences as they rewatch: The Purge! It's a movie all about how in the future/past (since this takes place in 2022 LOL) all crime is legal one day of the year to help people "Release The Beast" #redbull. When an affluent family's young, possibly future serial killer son, lets in a "Bloody Stranger" during their lockdown, a gang of nepo-babies come in to destroy their trash security systems and reek havoc! This movie asks many ethical questions such as: Would you really let a stranger die on the street if you could instead save them? Would you instead throw your son out onto the street for letting that person in? Would you reenact Scooby-Doo with your family if your home was being invaded and be all split up? And - would you too wear business casual the entire day/night of the Purge!? Seriously why did they do that!? Released in 2013, it was written and directed by James DeMonaco and features Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey, Max Burkholder, and Adelaide Kane.
Director Neil Marshall and actors Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey

Max Burkholder stars as the lead of Seth MacFarlane's critically acclaimed series TED, a prequel to the hit film franchise. He plays the leading role of “John Bennet” (the younger version of Mark Wahlberg's character from the films), a good-hearted teenager who is still in his awkward teenage phase. With Ted's help, John hilariously navigates adolescence, dealing with everything from first dates to high school bullies. Premiering on January 11, 2024, Ted launched as Peacock's most-watched original title ever through its first three days on the platform. Burkholder is perhaps best known for his portrayal of “Max Braverman” in NBC's long running award-winning series PARENTHOOD, from producers Jason Katims, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Here Max raised awareness while portraying a young boy with Asperger's syndrome. After the second episode aired, Asperger's was one of the most frequently searched terms on Google. He also played the lead role in Paramount TV's WHEN THE STREET LIGHTS GO ON for DGA, Oscar, IDA, and Emmy-nominated director Brett Morgen. His notable recurring roles include HBO's IN TREATMENT and BROTHERS AND SISTERS. In film, Burkholder starred in Debra Eisenstadt's hit Sundance comedy BLUSH opposite Wendy McLendon-Covey; and in the title role of BENJAMIN, alongside comedy veterans Rob Corddry, Kevin Pollak and Dave Foley. Burkholder began his career at a very young age in films including DADDY DAY CARE directed by Steve Carr, FRIENDS WITH MONEY directed by Nicole Holofcener, and a starring role in the Michael Bay-produced hit feature THE PURGE opposite Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey. In the world of voiceover, Burkholder has voiced characters on a number of hit series including Amazon Prime's INVINCIBLE, FAMILY GUY, THE CLEVELAND SHOW, AMERICAN DAD and THE LAND BEFORE TIME. Welcome back to CYBERPUNK CINEMA - the definitive dive into the dark future of science fiction. In this week's episode, I will be breaking down the cult classic cyberpunk film DREDD (2012) - directed by Pete Travis, written by Alex Garland, based on the "Judge Dredd" comic by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, and starring Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby, and Lena Headey. In a violent, futuristic city where the police have the authority to act as judge, jury, and executioner, a cop teams with a trainee to take down a gang that deals the reality-altering drug, SLO-MO. This is one of my favorite cyberpunk films of the 21st century as it delves into so many thematic signatures of the sub-genre that it made me smile from ear to fucking ear. It is a criminally overlooked film that has become a cult classic over recent years and deserves to be known by the masses. Join me as I venture deep into Mega City One – where 800 million people live in the ruin of the old world. It's judgment time, baby! So, do me a favor – it's time to access your cranial jacks, boot up your Ono-Sendai Cyberspace 7, and slap on your damn mirror-shades. You know what time it is! Dredd (2012) is already well-loved by Jim and A.Ron. This project was brought to you by Pete Travis (Vantage Point) and Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later). Find out how this action, sci-fi created a whole world with the minimum number of sets and actors. The effects are equal parts stunning and gruesome. Though this movie stars Karl Urban and Lena Headey, the slow motion might have stolen the show. There's a Matt Berry song in this movie. Hey there! Has the plot of Kevin Smith's Masters of the Universe: Revolution Netflix series been leaked? And will it be as controversial with fans as Revelation was? ➡️ Tip Jar and Fan Support: http://ClownfishSupport.com ➡️ Official Merch Store: http://ShopClownfish.com ➡️ Official Website: http://ClownfishTV.com Additional Context: "Masters of the Universe: Revolution," the highly anticipated animated series from Kevin Smith, is set to premiere on Netflix on January 25, 2024. This series continues the saga of He-Man and Skeletor, featuring an epic showdown between technology and magic. The newly mechanized Skeletor, now powered by Motherboard, launches an attack on the heart of Eternia, while Prince Adam, also known as He-Man, faces a crucial decision: to rule as the King with the scepter or fight as the Champion with the sword. The series also introduces the return of Hordak, the ruthless leader of the Horde Empire, posing the greatest threat Eternia has ever seen. Amidst this turmoil, the new Sorceress Teela seeks the secret of Snake Magic in Darksmoke to rebuild a magic realm and assist He-Man in combating this formidable enemy. The show's voice cast includes Chris Wood as He-Man, Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Meg Foster, Keith David, and newcomers William Shatner and John De Lancie. The series is produced by Mattel Television Studios and Powerhouse Animation Studios, with executive producers Kevin Smith, Ted Biaselli, Rob David, Christopher Keenan, and Frederic Soulie. Regarding its potential controversy, "Masters of the Universe: Revolution" follows "Masters of the Universe: Revelation," which had mixed reactions from fans. Some praised its fresh take on the franchise, while others criticized it for deviating from the original series. It remains to be seen if "Revolution" will evoke a similar response, but it certainly sets the stage for an action-packed and dramatic continuation of the He-Man saga. As a result of this episode, we are now calling our Scorekeeper “Renaissance Dan.” Why? Cause he loves Leonardo Da Vinci, and included all sorts of pop culture representations of the previously most popular “Leonardo D.” But how well with our contestants Matt, Maxwell, and J-Mo fare? Almost as well as the bananas round two in which they're tasked with identifying each half of a comic book crossover between a superhero and a real life person. Will Da Vinci pop up again? Who knows?!? Well, we know. We wrote the questions. But you can know by listening to all that, plus our customary lightning round. Enjoy! There's been a changing of the guard, a succession, if you will, in prestige TV (or whatever). In the span of five days, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ended after five seasons, Succession ended after four seasons, Barry ended after four seasons, and Ted Lasso (maybe? probably? seemingly?) ended after three seasons. Those four shows have been nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy or Drama Series a total of 12 times, and they've won those top awards five times. So far. TV is different now, we think, is the point. And: White House Plumbers is a five-part HBO miniseries based on Egil “Bud” Krogh's Watergate memoir.
