Sean and Daniel kick off one of their most requested cases and almost immediately it’s obvious as to why this one sparked interest, ire and intrigue within the wider community. As a federal Senate candidate claims self defense when charged with assault on a police officer in a pub altercation it quickly becomes a case of who exactly crossed the line.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Joining hosts Philionaire, Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony of Louis York, and Tamone Bacon, Kym pulls back the curtain on a Cleveland-to-Hollywood journey built on fearless hustle, hard-won mentorship, and a refusal to ever let the business turn her cold. The conversation winds through her earliest brushes with stardom, starting with the 1994 Pringles commercial that she famously lip-synced, the trailblazing Oh Drama! talk show that quietly set the template for every female-led panel that followed, and an iconic Parkers run alongside Mo'Nique that lit a fire under her own work ethic. Kym opens up about the wild-child energy that powered her onto a Soul Train taping on Gerald Levert's dime, into the 227 studio audience without a ticket, and into a fateful encounter with Marla Gibbs that turned a green Cleveland girl into a working actress overnight. The story of Marla pulling her into a closet on set to protect her during her power struggle with Jackie Harry is one for the books, and Kym tells every drop of it.From there, it's pure tea. Kym revisits the Next Friday slap from DC Curry that left her bruised and bleeding because no one told her she could speak up, the dominatrix scene she didn't realize was being filmed in full, the Curb Your Enthusiasm improv prep sessions with Katt Williams, Buddy Lewis, and Dave Kirchner, and the lifelong sisterhood with Sherri Shepherd that powers their NAACP Image Award winning podcast Two Funny Mamas. She shouts out the upcoming Two Funny Mamas live show at Detroit's Soundboard on Mother's Day weekend, drops gems on the late great Gerald Levert, and reflects on why the older she gets, the more profoundly grateful she is for the mentors who didn't have to put her on but did.Kym also sits in for a lively celebrity Kim showdown (pitting Lil Kim, Kim Kardashian, Kim Burrell, and Kim Fields head-to-head), helps the crew crown the legendary Marla Gibbs with this week's Esther Rolle Award of Black Excellence (The ERBE), and leaves us with what might be the unofficial Kym Whitley life motto: "You don't learn unless you ask." John Maytham is joined by John Dobson, head coach of the Stormers, who says the team will need to “regroup quickly” after what he described as a “very bruised” performance against a clinical Cardiff Rugby side. Despite the setback — and a winless overseas tour that also included a draw with Ulster — Dobson is backing his squad’s resilience ahead of a high-stakes knockout clash at home. Presenter John Maytham is an actor and author-turned-talk radio veteran and seasoned journalist. His show serves a round-up of local and international news coupled with the latest in business, sport, traffic and weather. The host’s eclectic interests mean the program often surprises the audience with intriguing book reviews and inspiring interviews profiling artists. A daily highlight is Rapid Fire, just after 5:30pm. CapeTalk fans call in, to stump the presenter with their general knowledge questions. Police in Springfield Township, Ohio, found a bruised baby girl when they responded to a 911 call in November 2024. The baby's father, Jason Santos, and his girlfriend, Jamilee Hunt, gave a number of reasons why the 11-month-old was injured and not breathing. The baby survived, but the two adults entrusted to care for her were charged with horrific crimes. Leadership can look polished on the outside while feeling incredibly heavy on the inside. In this episode, I'm unpacking the hidden cost of thin trust — and why burnout is not always about doing too much, but about carrying too much because the people, systems, or conversations around you cannot fully hold their part. In this episode, you'll learn: How to spot when leadership feels heavy because trust is thin, not because you lack capacity Why your body may be carrying the weight of unspoken tension, unclear expectations, and avoided conversations A simple way to begin repairing trust without overriding your discernment Resources mentioned: Brené Brown's BRAVING framework Amy Edmondson on psychological safety Paul Zak on the neuroscience of trust “If leadership feels heavier than it should, the issue may not be your capacity. It may be the places where trust has become too thin to hold the weight with you.” Before your next hard conversation, ask yourself: 1. What am I assuming? 2. What do I know for sure? 3. What needs to be communicated so my body does not have to keep carrying it? Share the pod love Enjoying Heart Glow CEO®? This episode features psychotherapist and author Kristine Jensen in a deep conversation about the hidden inner dialogue so many high-achieving women carry—especially the quiet but persistent voice of self-doubt. Drawing from over 40 years of clinical experience and her book Bruised, Not Broken: Healing the Shame of a Troubled Childhood, Kristine unpacks how these internal narratives are often rooted in childhood as protective mechanisms tied to love, acceptance, and belonging. Even the most confident, capable women can feel like imposters beneath the surface—and this experience is far more common than it seems. A powerful reframe emerges: those critical inner voices are not flaws to eliminate, but signals to understand with compassion. The conversation explores the gap between the "professional self" and the "personal self," encouraging space for honest inner dialogue that leads to healing and self-trust. Through real-life stories and practical insight, this episode highlights that while the past may shape patterns, it doesn't define identity—and with awareness and compassion, it's possible to soften old narratives and step into a more grounded, empowered way of being. This week on Practical(ly) Pastoring, Andrew, Tim, Delmar, and Jeff tackle two questions straight from the Facebook group, and both of them hit close to home.First, they discuss the sting pastors feel when key families skip their church's Easter service for the bigger production down the road. Is that just modern church culture, a discipleship issue, a membership issue, or simply one of those wounds pastors have to hand to the Lord? The guys talk honestly about insecurity, church commitment, megachurch envy, Facebook sleuthing, and why relational investment may matter more than confrontation. Then they turn to a second question that may be even harder: how do you actually invite criticism in your church? They unpack how leaders can model humility, create healthy pathways for feedback, separate useful critique from noise, and build a culture where honesty is normal instead of threatening. This episode is brought to you by Church Merch.Whether your church needs t-shirts, hats, pens, name tags, or maybe even a hairnet with your logo on it, they can help.Visit promotionsguy.com/churchmerch and tell them Practical(ly) Pastoring sent you.

Welcome to Part 1 of a two-part series where I'm joined by Alex Walker—a Torquay-based haircutting specialist, educator and the founder of AW Hair and Alex Walker Education. We recorded this episode inside Alex's purpose-built education studio in Torquay, Devon (UK)—a dedicated space away from the salon where hairdressers can learn through in-person sessions, small groups, and online education, while staying connected to real, commercial salon work. Alex's journey began at 17, when he fell into hairdressing almost by accident. What started as a job became a craft. He went all-in on haircutting—especially short hair—with a mission to raise standards and help hairdressers understand the why behind what they do. We dig into the realities of ambition, rapid growth, and salon ownership—and the moment everything changed. After his businesses went into liquidation, Alex was left asking: “I haven't got five days' worth of clients… what am I gonna do now?” This is a powerful conversation on resilience, rebuilding, and staying commercially relevant. Happy Resurrection Day!Dr. Mo continues to expound upon Philippians 3:10. She focuses on the 2nd part of that verse by pondering what does it mean for us to know the power of resurrection. How do we move from understanding the close association with Jesus and suffering to knowing the power of rising to life? Especially when we have suffered betrayal, bruising, and beatings, both psychologically and physically. Well... life has been life-ing... mostly good things, but still time-consuming! We apologize for the long delay in posting this episode, but anytime Maggie and Charlie stop by, you know it will be a fun listen (even if its a bit late). The Tempest Raven competition has concluded, but we hope you'll still find value and joy in listening to our genre and prompt reactions! Maybe listening to this episode will help generate excitement about the upcoming Verdant Owl competition.**SPONSOR INFO**We have two sponsors we'd like to include this episode:The first sponsor: Alexandria Bellani is promoting a new flash competition, Odd Embers! It's run by a very talented friend and fellow Contest Goblin, and is an absolutely amazing competition focusing on weird fiction and unique, inspiring prompts (and based on chatter in various writing groups after the first challenge, it seems to have followed through on that prompt promise!).Their next contest, “Drabble-abble-abble”, kicks off on Friday 10 April (registration closes 9 April), and will challenge writers to submit a single, cohesive story between 290-310 words. There will be three sets of prompts provided to the writers who will need to choose one prompt from each set to include in their stories. The prompt chosen from the first set of prompts must first appear in the first 100 words of the story, the prompt chosen from the second set of prompts must first appear in the second 100 words, and then the third prompt must first appear in the last 100 words. I warned the group that the show was going back to the 70s this time around and I gave them a choice of 4 titles that I thought would make for a decent podcast and they ultimately chose to give the horror 101 treatment David Cronenberg's The Brood from 1979. Viviana Ortiz-Lopez, 30, faces a child abuse charge after detectives in Marion County, Florida said she bruised the face of a baby girl in her care. According to an affidavit, Ortiz-Lopez called the baby's mother and demanded she pick her up hours after she dropped the girl off on March 10, 2026. That's when the mother saw the bruises on her baby's face. Law&Crime's Angenette Levy goes over the case and what Ortiz-Lopez allegedly told detectives in this episode of Crime Fix — a daily show covering the biggest stories in crime.Host:Angenette Levy https://twitter.com/Angenette5Guests: Lt. A scraped shin, a breezy dock, and the Gulf stretching out like a stage—this one starts chaotic and turns strangely tender. We set up at the bay in Corpus Christi, swing by the Selena statue, and talk about what it means when a city adopts an artist as family. That sparks a music thread—how Selena's warmth and Pantera's grit both shape identity—and why certain songs become rallying cries long after the amps go quiet. From there we roll into the craft. Two shows in one night deliver a split-screen lesson in crowd work: a first set that floats because the host nails the warmup, and a second where two loud guys try to take the wheel. We break down reading the room without losing the room, why a well-timed pause beats a sharp put-down, and how food choices—yes, that pizza between sets—sneak into performance. New material gets a live workout, wobbling and landing all at once. The bay keeps pulling focus. Pelicans fish, doves glide in, a duck maybe stays under too long, and we spiral into the weird beauty of not knowing what any of it means. Hotel life slips into the mix—eggs you shouldn't trust, gyms you only admire, towels you definitely avoid—and somehow those tiny choices feel like the real bandmates of a touring comic. We wrap with a nudge toward art, nature, and adding new skills to who we are, even if it's as simple as taking a walk and paying attention. If you've ever chased calm while the world feels loud, you'll hear something familiar here.If the laughter hits, share it with a friend, tap follow, and leave a quick review—your words help us keep the lights on and the mics up.Support the showhttps://www.patreon.com/c/DiscombobulatedwithBobbyJaycox
In this episode of Reading With Your Kids, Jed welcomes picture book author Barb Rosenstock to talk about her captivating new title, Houdini's Library. Drawing on her deep love of history and storytelling, Barb shares how a tiny sign at the Library of Congress—"Houdini Collection" —sparked years of research and ultimately this book. Barb and Jed dive into the real Harry Houdini: not just the "handcuff king" and daring escape artist, but a relentless learner who built a massive working library of magic books. Barb explains that Houdini, who likely had only a second‑ or third‑grade education, used books to teach himself everything—from escapes to showmanship to public relations. They talk about how he studied older tricks, respected the magicians who came before him, and combined ideas to create something new—powerful lessons for kids about persistence, creativity, and hard work. Barb also highlights the team effort behind both Houdini's performances and her own books, reminding listeners that big achievements are almost never solo acts. She connects Houdini's discipline to athletes like Kobe Bryant: the first in the gym, the last to leave, still practicing even at the top. Later in the episode, Jed chats with 12‑year‑old author Shravya Khandelwal, whose middle grade novel The Curse of Judice blends suspense, demons, and a brave heroine named Sarah. Shravya talks about her love of spooky, supernatural stories, how curiosity pulls kids into mysteries, and what it feels like to be a young, published author balancing school, big dreams, and book promotion.

While the country argued about a Super Bowl halftime show, the U.S. government quietly revealed how power actually works. In this episode of Red, White & Bruised, Robin breaks down the week America exposed itself in real time. From the culture war meltdown over Bad Bunny's Super Bowl performance to the resurfacing of the Epstein files, the dismissal of Steve Bannon's criminal case, and a Justice Department increasingly aligned with political loyalty over accountability. This episode examines how distraction functions as cover fire. Loud outrage dominates headlines while structural changes reshape the legal, political, and information systems underneath. In this episode:The coordinated backlash to Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show and why culture war outrage is the pointTrump's response to athletes speaking honestly at the Winter Olympics and the growing political cost of enforced “gratitude”Ghislaine Maxwell invoking the Fifth Amendment while quietly signaling willingness to testify in exchange for a presidential pardonNew revelations about Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's post-conviction ties to Jeffrey EpsteinThe Department of Justice moving to dismiss Steve Bannon's criminal contempt convictionA Fifth Circuit ruling allowing indefinite detention by ICE without bond hearingsLooming DHS funding deadlines and Democratic paralysisElon Musk's renewed political spending and the growing money imbalance ahead of the midtermsThe White House's unprecedented “Media Offenders” page and its implications for press freedomHow culture war noise, legal infrastructure, financial power, and information control work together by designThis is not chaos. It's architecture. While public attention stays locked on spectacle, the machinery of power rewrites the rules in plain sight. ****Apologies, y'all. This episode is several days late. Better late than never! ANOTHER episode dropping tomorrow on the murder of Renee Nicole Good. The Donroe Doctrine: America Invades Venezuela While you were nursing a New Year's hangover, the U.S. launched its biggest military operation in Latin America since Panama. Nicolás Maduro has been snatched, Trump has promised America will “run the country” of Venezuela, and a new foreign policy flex has arrived: the Donroe Doctrine. In this episode of We Saw the Devil, Robin breaks down how we got here, what actually happened during Operation Absolute Resolve, and why this isn't just “serving a warrant” on a dictator. It's a constitutional crisis, an international-law nightmare, and a blueprint future presidents can point to when they want to do the same thing somewhere else. We cover:The hour-by-hour raid that captured MaduroThe three clashing justifications: law enforcement, “Donroe Doctrine,” and oilHow Congress was lied to and cut out of the decisionGlobal condemnation from Latin America, Europe, and beyondCracks forming inside MAGA over yet another foreign warTags:Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, Donald Trump, Donroe Doctrine, Monroe Doctrine, Operation Absolute Resolve, CIA, Delta Force, U.S. invasion, war powers, Congress, Tim Kaine, Marco Rubio, U.S. foreign policy, Latin America, oil, resource colonialism, international law, regime change, We Saw the Devil, politics, authoritarianismBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/we-saw-the-devil-a-true-crime-podcast--4433638/support.Website: http://www.wesawthedevil.comPatreon: http://www.patreon.com/wesawthedevilDiscord: https://discord.gg/X2qYXdB4Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/WeSawtheDevilInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/wesawthedevilpodcast.
The Epstein files are dropping, and they're exactly as damning as you feared. Flight logs with presidents. Emails from princes asking for "inappropriate friends." Ten co-conspirators...nine still walking free. Guards who slept through their shifts. Cameras that conveniently broke. And a Justice Department that can't keep its story straight for 48 hours. This episode breaks down Epstein news from the last week, why the White House went from celebrating to damage control in three days, and what all of this tells us about who really runs this country. Spoiler: it's not immigrants. It's not welfare recipients. It's not the trans kid at Target. It's the people on those flight logs, and they're still having brunch while you argue about pronouns. Punch up.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/we-saw-the-devil-a-true-crime-podcast--4433638/support.Website: http://www.wesawthedevil.comPatreon: http://www.patreon.com/wesawthedevilDiscord: https://discord.gg/X2qYXdB4Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/WeSawtheDevilInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/wesawthedevilpodcast.
The DOJ had one job: release ALL the Epstein files by December 19th. Instead, we got "several hundred thousand" documents with a promise of more "in a couple weeks." Merry Christmas from the most transparent administration in history. In this episode, we break down everything wrong with the Epstein Files release...the broken search function, the 119 completely blacked-out pages, and why Bill Clinton's face is plastered everywhere while Trump is mysteriously absent. Plus: the tragic end to the Brown University shooting manhunt and what we know about the gunman's 25-year grudge.Follow the show:→ Instagram: @wesawthedevilpodcast→ Twitter/Facebook: @wesawthedevil→ Patreon: patreon.com/wesawthedevil→ Website: wesawthedevil.comKeywords/tags:Epstein files, Epstein documents released, Jeffrey Epstein, DOJ cover-up, Trump Epstein, Clinton Epstein photos, Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein island, government transparency, redacted documents, political podcast, Brown University shooting, MIT professor, mass shooting news, true crime, political commentary, liberal podcast, news podcast, current events December 2025Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/we-saw-the-devil-a-true-crime-podcast--4433638/support.Website: http://www.wesawthedevil.comPatreon: http://www.patreon.com/wesawthedevilDiscord: https://discord.gg/X2qYXdB4Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/WeSawtheDevilInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/wesawthedevilpodcast.
