Send us a textTwo horror titans enter, consistency takes a vacation, and we can't stop talking about why it still works. We rewind to 2003 and pull apart Freddy vs. Jason from its crisp, newcomer‑friendly recap to the outsized, fire‑lit brawls that the whole campaign was built around. We're honest about the warts: clunky teen dialogue, jump scares with no crescendo, and lore that forgets its own rules. We're also here for the highs: Robert Englund having a blast as a razor‑fingered showman, a hulking Jason cutting a path through a cornfield, and a handful of striking images that remind you how potent these icons can be when the camera actually looks. We map the story's logic (such as it is): Freddy stokes fear by resurrecting Jason, the town buries the past with a hush regime, and our kids try to outthink both monsters with Hypnosil and a road trip to Crystal Lake. Along the way we debate whether crowd kills help or hurt the mood, why mask fit and silhouette matter for menace, and how the movie tosses aside the classic “fight sleep” tension that made Nightmare sing. The dream‑realm pinball fight versus the dockside industrial smackdown gives us two flavors of violence, and that rebar shot, the lake reveal, and the final misdirect all stick the landing with a grin.Is it scary? Not really. Is it dumb fun? Absolutely—and sometimes that's enough. If you want meticulous rules and slow‑burn dread, go back to the early entries. If you want heavyweight horror branding colliding like action figures in a bonfire, this crossover still swings. Hit play to hear our favorite shots, least favorite logic gaps, and the moments that prove spectacle can carry a movie further than sense ever could.Enjoyed the breakdown? Follow, rate, and share the show with a friend who has strong feelings about Team Freddy or Team Jason. Tell us your winner and your favorite kill shot in the comments!Written lovingly with AIBe our friend!Dan: @shakybaconTony: @tonydczechAnd follow the podcast on IG: @hatewatchingDAT

Sequels are everywhere—but which ones actually earn their place? We dive into a packed week across film, TV, and games, starting with a reality check at the box office: Tron Ares opens soft on a massive budget while smaller debuts struggle to land. From there, we break down the smarter sequel bets: Devil Wears Prada 2 reframing Miranda Priestley in the age of disappearing print, Mortal Kombat swinging big on a true tournament spine and a Johnny Cage rebuild, and a double hit of Oceans news—Clooney rallying the OG crew for 14 and a Margot Robbie–led prequel circling Bradley Cooper. Family lanes get their moment with Minecraft 2 planting a 2027 flag and an Air Bud reboot that leans into legacy without the cynicism. On the games front, the headlines are louder than a launch trailer. Reports of retailers shrinking or removing Xbox floor space collide with Game Pass price whiplash, even as a 17-year Halo veteran exits with a pointed warning. Meanwhile, players reward energy and execution: Battlefield 6 surges past 700K concurrents on Steam despite day-one queues, and Expedition 33 clears five million with free content on the way. Then the hard pivot—Mind's Eye's messy launch followed by layoffs and an open letter from staff alleging crunch and mishandled redundancies. Top it with a $35 cardboard-looking Dead Space skin in Skate and you get a theme: monetization without taste backfires fast. The gut punch? A reportedly canceled Assassin's Creed set after the Civil War with a formerly enslaved protagonist standing up to the KKK—bold, timely, and exactly the kind of story the genre needs.TV brings clarity and cadence. Marvel's NYCC slate locks in a smarter rhythm: X-Men '97 moving forward, Daredevil: Born Again returning, Vision Quest confirmed, Wonder Man offering a meta industry lens, and Spidey teasing symbiote threads. Culture takes center stage with Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl halftime, a choice that reflects the real audience and global pop gravity. Dexter Resurrection is back for more while Original Sin gets un-renewed, Yellowjackets charts a final season to land the plane, and Avatar expands with a hand-drawn fighting game and a chibi YouTube series. Cancellations at Amazon and Fox underline how tough the middle is, while Crystal Lake finds a home by centering Pamela Voorhees and character-first horror. Want the trailers? Jump to the YouTube cut and watch with us.If you're into sharp takes on IP strategy, box office realities, and where games are winning (or tripping), this one's for you. Paranormal Heart welcomes J.D.Barker September 30th, 2025 EP:53 J.D, Barker Bio J.D. Barker (Jonathan Dylan Barker) is a New York Times and international bestselling American author whose work has been broadly described as suspense thrillers, often incorporating elements of horror, crime, mystery, science fiction, and the supernatural. Barker was born January 7, 1971 in Lombard, Illinois and spent the first fourteen years of his life in Crystal Lake, Illinois. A staunch introvert, he was rarely seen without a book in hand, devouring both the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew series by the age of six before moving on to classics such as the works of Dickens and Twain. The discovery of Shelley, Stoker and Poe fueled a fire and it wasn't long before he was writing tales of his own which he shared with friends and family. These early stories centered around witches and ghosts thought to inhabit the woods surrounding their home. Barker's initial indie success drew the attention of traditional agents and publishers and in early 2016 his debut thriller, The Fourth Monkey, sold in a series of pre-empts and auctions worldwide with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt set to publish in the U.S. and HarperCollins in the UK. The book has also sold for both film and television. He has since gone on to write numerous titles which have appeared on bestseller lists around the world. He is also a frequent collaborator with James Patterson. Barker splits his time between Englewood, FL, and New Castle, NH, with his wife, Dayna, and their daughter, Ember. J.D. Camp Crystal Lake has long stood abandoned, its bloody history etched into the memories of all who grew up hearing the stories: the boy who drowned, the grieving mother who lost her mind, and the masked killer who rose from the depths to exact vengeance on anyone foolish enough to trespass. When seven teenagers venture into the ruins of the infamous camp at the start of summer vacation, they expect to find nothing more than decaying cabins and ghost stories to take home. Instead, they awaken something far darker. As night falls, the shadows come alive with the presence of Jason Voorhees himself, his unrelenting rage spilling once again across the grounds of the cursed lake. But Jason is not the only predator stalking these woods. Far older eyes watch the carnage unfold—eyes belonging to the Sasquatch, ancient guardians who have roamed these forests since long before human footsteps disturbed the earth. They have witnessed decades of blood at Crystal Lake with quiet detachment, but tonight, their silence will break. When the Sasquatch intervene to save two boys from Jason's rampage, it is not mercy that drives them but necessity. They know what the teenagers do not: every disappearance invites search parties, helicopters, thermal scans, and tracking dogs. Too much human attention threatens their existence, and so balance must be restored by any means necessary. What follows is a collision of legends—a battle of monsters bound by ancient instincts, hidden laws, and territories marked in blood. For the terrified survivors, the forest becomes a maze of horrors where every shadow holds a choice: fall to Jason's blade, stumble into the wrath of the Sasquatch, or discover the grim truth of why these creatures hide from mankind. The story does not end with the night. One year later, the survivors are pulled back into a conflict that stretches beyond their worst nightmares, forced into uneasy alliance with the very monsters they once fled. Together, they must confront something far older, far darker, and far more dangerous than either Jason or the Sasquatch.Prepare yourself for a descent into the deep woods, where myths bleed into reality, where monsters protect by destroying, and where the real horror isn't what hunts you—it's what decides to let you live. Best experienced in complete darkness with headphones… though you may want to keep a light close. Some stories have a way of following you home.

Friday the 13th 2  is a 1981 American slasher film produced and directed by Steve Miner in his directorial debut, and written by Ron Kurz. It is the sequel to Friday the 13th (1980), and the second installment in the franchise. Adrienne King, Betsy Palmer, and Walt Gorney reprise their respective roles from the first film as Alice Hardy, Pamela Voorhees, and Crazy Ralph. Amy Steel and John Furey also star. Taking place five years after the first film, Part 2 follows a similar premise, with an unknown stalker killing a group of camp counselors at a training camp near Crystal Lake. The film marks the debut of Jason Voorhees as the series' main antagonist.
