With their ninth studio album, Another Miracle, landing on November 14 - and an Australian tour commencing May 7, 2026 - Of Mice & Men are stepping boldly into their next era—one defined by emotional depth, creative freedom, and an unshakeable bond with their fans. Drummer Valentino Arteaga speaks about the record with a mix of pride and awe, describing it as a “journey” built on layered soundscapes, soaring melodies, and crushing heaviness. It's an album meant to be absorbed front to back, not just thrown on a playlist.Self-produced and richly textured, Another Miracle reflects a band continually pushing their own boundaries. Valentino compares its intricate sonic layers to “ten wedding cakes stacked on top of each other,” each one representing experimentation, growth, and the group's ever-expanding musical vocabulary. Songs were crafted during a period of major life changes, including frontman Aaron Pauley discovering he was about to become a father, which brought a new emotional dimension to the writing.Valentino's current favourite track, Troubled Water, mirrors the album's dynamic energy with groove-driven drumming and bold performances. Yet he insists each song offers something different: “With Of Mice & Men, there's something for everybody.”Despite their evolution, one thing remains firmly intact; their connection to fans. Community is at the heart of their legacy, and it's something the band is determined to honour. “When you come to an Of Mice & Men show, you're there with family,” Valentino says. That spirit will follow them to Australia in May 2026, where they'll tour with genre-blurring heavyweights Crystal Lake for what promises to be an explosive run of shows. With Another Miracle, Of Mice & Men aren't just reinventing their sound, they're reaffirming why their music continues to resonate so deeply after 16 years: honesty, passion, and a commitment to constant elevation.OF MICE & MEN + CRYSTAL LAKE May 2026 Australian Tour DatesTuesday 5th May - PERTH, Magnet HouseThursday 7th May - ADELAIDE, Lion Arts FactoryFriday 8th May - MELBOURNE, 170 RussellSaturday 9th May - SYDNEY, Manning BarSunday 10th May - BRISBANE, The TriffidTickets: https://thephoenix.au/of-mice-men-2026/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Send us a textTwo horror titans enter, consistency takes a vacation, and we can't stop talking about why it still works. We rewind to 2003 and pull apart Freddy vs. Jason from its crisp, newcomer‑friendly recap to the outsized, fire‑lit brawls that the whole campaign was built around. We're honest about the warts: clunky teen dialogue, jump scares with no crescendo, and lore that forgets its own rules. We're also here for the highs: Robert Englund having a blast as a razor‑fingered showman, a hulking Jason cutting a path through a cornfield, and a handful of striking images that remind you how potent these icons can be when the camera actually looks. We map the story's logic (such as it is): Freddy stokes fear by resurrecting Jason, the town buries the past with a hush regime, and our kids try to outthink both monsters with Hypnosil and a road trip to Crystal Lake. Along the way we debate whether crowd kills help or hurt the mood, why mask fit and silhouette matter for menace, and how the movie tosses aside the classic “fight sleep” tension that made Nightmare sing. The dream‑realm pinball fight versus the dockside industrial smackdown gives us two flavors of violence, and that rebar shot, the lake reveal, and the final misdirect all stick the landing with a grin.Is it scary? Not really. Is it dumb fun? Absolutely—and sometimes that's enough. If you want meticulous rules and slow‑burn dread, go back to the early entries. If you want heavyweight horror branding colliding like action figures in a bonfire, this crossover still swings. Hit play to hear our favorite shots, least favorite logic gaps, and the moments that prove spectacle can carry a movie further than sense ever could.Enjoyed the breakdown? Follow, rate, and share the show with a friend who has strong feelings about Team Freddy or Team Jason. Tell us your winner and your favorite kill shot in the comments!Written lovingly with AIBe our friend!Dan: @shakybaconTony: @tonydczechAnd follow the podcast on IG: @hatewatchingDAT

Paranormal Heart welcomes J.D.Barker September 30th, 2025 EP:53 J.D, Barker Bio J.D. Barker (Jonathan Dylan Barker) is a New York Times and international bestselling American author whose work has been broadly described as suspense thrillers, often incorporating elements of horror, crime, mystery, science fiction, and the supernatural. Barker was born January 7, 1971 in Lombard, Illinois and spent the first fourteen years of his life in Crystal Lake, Illinois. A staunch introvert, he was rarely seen without a book in hand, devouring both the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew series by the age of six before moving on to classics such as the works of Dickens and Twain. The discovery of Shelley, Stoker and Poe fueled a fire and it wasn't long before he was writing tales of his own which he shared with friends and family. These early stories centered around witches and ghosts thought to inhabit the woods surrounding their home. Barker's initial indie success drew the attention of traditional agents and publishers and in early 2016 his debut thriller, The Fourth Monkey, sold in a series of pre-empts and auctions worldwide with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt set to publish in the U.S. and HarperCollins in the UK. The book has also sold for both film and television. He has since gone on to write numerous titles which have appeared on bestseller lists around the world. He is also a frequent collaborator with James Patterson. Barker splits his time between Englewood, FL, and New Castle, NH, with his wife, Dayna, and their daughter, Ember. J.D. Friday the 13th 2 is a 1981 American slasher film produced and directed by Steve Miner in his directorial debut, and written by Ron Kurz. It is the sequel to Friday the 13th (1980), and the second installment in the franchise. Adrienne King, Betsy Palmer, and Walt Gorney reprise their respective roles from the first film as Alice Hardy, Pamela Voorhees, and Crazy Ralph. Amy Steel and John Furey also star. Taking place five years after the first film, Part 2 follows a similar premise, with an unknown stalker killing a group of camp counselors at a training camp near Crystal Lake. The film marks the debut of Jason Voorhees as the series' main antagonist. Henry Manfredini returned to compose the film's score If you have anything to add to the discussion, please don't hesitate to do so by reaching out to us on social media @TheFilmFlamers, or call our hotline and leave us a message at 972-666-7733!
