As he learned more and more about policy making he started to question local leaders and their decision making. In Episode 23, I was able to catch with Harman Sarai. A current student at Sacramento State, basketball trainer and aspiring YouTuber. He shares his story and experiences in the game of basketball. Harman, eldest son of Indian immigrants, has spent hours on the court perfecting his craft. He had to make a tough choice at a very young age that would decide his basketball future. He is now working towards helping other young athletes get a fair shake and be prepared to achieve greatness on and off the court. We talk about how to develop a brand and what this could mean for him in the future. In Episode 22, I was joined by Mayuki who is originally from Japan and is currently living in Southern California. She was a foreign exchange student in High School and experienced living the high school life in the Central Valley. She details the differences between life here and in Japan. In Episode 18, I was able to sit down with a long time friend, entrepreneur, corporate trainer and consultant and more. A Queens, New York native and Sacramento State Graduate is using his business experience and education to empower many new franchisees. His family are franchisees and have over a decade of experience owning and operating their own stores. While attending Natomas High School he was helping around the stores and later took on a managerial position. Sanjeet credits the business for allowing him to become comfortable around others and "breaking out of his shell." After earning his MBA from Sac State he got married and took a position in San Diego, Ca. While moving away from home was difficult he was able to learn new things and experience a corporate atmosphere. Sanjeet is now back in Sacramento with his family and feels inspired in training others to be successful with their new franchises. We talk about how COVID-19 crisis will change some businesses forever. He gives us his opinion on how to start a new business and his plans for the future. In Episode 17, I was able to talk to Reyes the Entrepreneur from Coalinga, Ca. Reyes is a big time YouTuber who started from the bottom and is now at almost 400k subscribers. His story is on YouTube as he inspires others to start businesses and work towards their dreams. We talked over a video call while he was in Utah filming ride-alongs with aspiring entrepreneurs. He has always had a passion for teaching and found a way to do this through the free platform, YouTube. Reyes mentions how he got started and why he got started. In Episode 16, I sat down with one of my co-workers and colleagues to talk about the challenges of distance learning, working from home, adapting to the virtual classroom and more. Andrew Jones, originally from Illinois, has lived in different areas of the country and brings a background of music, being a camp leader and some traveling circus experience to the classroom. In Episode 15, I really started to question myself and dig deep into my why. I was able to have an exceptional conversation with Phanath "Nate" Sengmany, the "Trust Your Hustle" advocate. I met Nate about 10 years ago working at Starbucks. His energy and his overachieving customer service really brightened up everyone's day. I started to notice how well he knew all of his customers and was great at building relationships. Born in Laos and evading war violence his family eventually settled in Del Paso Heights, Sacramento, Ca. Nate lives life with passion. In Episode 14, I was able to chat with Jesús F. Martinez better known as Pakito. He was born and raised in La Piedad, Michoacan, México. Pakito details his experiences in México and how education compares here in California. He was able to migrate to the United States at the age of 15 years old and enrolled at Grant Union High School. While in high school he overcame being labeled an english learner, ignored by counselors, support staff and the pressure of getting a job from his family. He is now a student at American River College and is working towards fulfilling his life dream. His dream is to work in a prison. He wants to be that inspiring figure and story for those who need it. In Episode 9, I had the pleasure of talking to Ross Roadruck a local artist, teacher and soccer aficionado. He tells us about his time in school and why he decided to go into teaching art.
