At any given moment in this country, 60% of women are trying to lose weight and over the course of their lifetime. Who are you 5 years from now when you have achieved your goal? What is that Future Vision that you're after? You need to have a clear picture of your future self before you can create her/him. Why is this important? You want to begin at the end so that you can practice adopting the mindset, habits, and behaviors of the person you're becoming…after a while you will go from becoming your future self to start being your future self…an important distinction. It is when you're able to consistently practice the mindset, habits, and behaviors of your future self that your goal will start manifesting. Do you know the number one reason why diets fail in the long-term? It's impossible to get your brain to go along with making drastic changes. There's a simple reason for this. A habit is a neurological pathway in your brain. This means that every habit is the equivalent of a computer program. And that program is going to be running in your brain indefinitely until you change the code (the habit loop). So, when you start to follow a new diet or meal plan that is drastically different from what you've been doing, especially if you've been eating a certain way for a long time, your brain will eventually rebel against you and start running the old habit programs. If you've been trying unsuccessfully to lose weight and keep it off, then these next three episodes are for you. The most important thing you need to understand is that permanent weight loss is NOT about diet and exercise. The truth is any diet will help you to lose weight. However, diets won't teach you how to keep the weight off. Permanent weight loss is really very simple, if you understand the process. First, you must learn how to recruit your brain to change your biology. You see, a habit is a very well-constructed neurological pathway in the brain. Therefore, to change your habits, you can't rely on willpower. Instead, you must learn how to reprogram your brain. Secondly, get rid of all the unnecessary suffering you do around weight loss. You know, all the times you beat yourself up because you can't follow your restrictive plan. This only drives you to eat more, and thereby, gain more weight. Next, learn to eat when you're hungry and stop when you've had enough. We did this as babies. When a baby is hungry, she cries. When she's had enough, she spits the bottle out. Most people are caught up in the “weight loss trap” because they've been conditioned to think that to lose weight they need to go on a diet and start to exercise. Psychologist Carl Jung once wrote that “until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” Our personal shadow is the disowned self. It consists mainly of the negative aspects of our personality that we disowned. It is whatever we perceived as inferior, evil, or socially unacceptable. Unfortunately, these disowned parts of our personality can't go anywhere because they are still parts of the self. As a result, we learn to repress them. They become part of the unconscious mind. So, all the repressed and unacceptable parts of our personalities are neatly bundled into what psychologist Carl Jung called the “personal shadow.” Our shadow self, however, is always with us. It's your dark sister or brother. Always standing right behind you. And left unchecked, your shadow will be controlling your every move. In this episode, we will discuss: How the shadow came to be. What if you could burn 200% more calories every day than you could with exercise alone? Wouldn't this help you to lose weight faster, maintain it longer and become fitter? Exercise is overrated because it's responsible for only about 5% of your total daily calorie expenditure. If you sleep for 8 hours each night and exercise for one hour, that one hour of exercise is only 6% of your day. However, NEAT activities account for over 63% of your day. In this episode, we will discuss, Why NEAT activities are much more important than exercise. Why people who exercise can still be “active couch potatoes.” Why a sedentary lifestyle leads to “sitting disease.” How you can burn an extra 3500 calories each week just by standing for ten minutes out of every waking hour each day.
