The video contends that the immaterial essence of the human soul poses an insurmountable barrier to achieving genuine artificial intelligence, despite advancements in replicating specific abilities. Unravel the significance of the Turing Test, discovering it has already been surpassed and challenging its relevance in contemporary computer science. The video emphasizes the limits of AI research, asserting that while progress may occur in mimicking certain human abilities, the replication of true intelligence remains an elusive goal. Join us in decoding the intricate puzzle of intelligence, where science intersects with philosophy, and uncover the insurmountable challenges AI faces in replicating the essence of humanity. #artificialintelligence #ai #consciousness #psychology #neuroscience #alanturing #turingtest #bible #religion #christian #christianity #theology #god #jesus #moderndogma --- ► Subscribe to the YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@modern_dogma ► Connect with Modern Dogma: moderndogmapod@gmail.com https://twitter.com/modern_dogma https://www.instagram.com/moderndogma --- Recommended Resources: https://baltimorebiblechurch.org/ https://www.gty.org/ https://answersingenesis.org/ https://www.gotquestions.org/ https://www.ligonier.org/ https://www.9marks.org/
We dismantle the prevailing anxiety surrounding "artificial intelligence" and its implications for society. Tracing the origins of the term to John McCarthy's ambitious vision in 1956, we uncover the shift in AI objectives from creating a machine with human-like intelligence to the contemporary focus on weak or narrow AI. Distinguishing between strong or general AI and weak or narrow AI, we highlight the outdated nature of the original goal to replicate human intelligence in machines. Modern AI research, as acknowledged by experts like Professor [FIRST NAME] Crookes, has veered away from the pursuit of strong AI, deeming it largely irrelevant in today's landscape. The video challenges the underlying assumptions of AI futurism, contending that the fear of superintelligent machines is built on layers of unbiblical presuppositions rooted in atheism and Darwinian evolution. By questioning the philosophical foundations of AI futurism, we reveal its divergence from actual computer science as practiced today. Drawing attention to the incongruities in the beliefs of prominent futurists like Yuval Noah Harari and Ray Kurzweil, the video argues that AI futurism is more akin to a fantastical, anti-Christian religion than a valid pursuit of scientific truth. Emphasizing the distinction between AI as a futurist philosophy and AI as a field of scientific research, we debunk the notion that machines will ever possess true intelligence. Concluding with a reassurance that machines will never achieve human-like thinking because they lack the breath of God, the video encourages viewers to focus on real societal challenges posed by technological progress. #artificialintelligence #ai #singularity #superintelligence #yuvalnoahharari #evolution #darwin #alanturing #turingtest #bible #religion #christian #christianity #theology #god #jesus #moderndogma --- ► Subscribe to the YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@modern_dogma ► Connect with Modern Dogma: moderndogmapod@gmail.com https://twitter.com/modern_dogma https://www.instagram.com/moderndogma --- Recommended Resources: https://baltimorebiblechurch.org/ https://www.gty.org/library/topical-series-library/255/the-battle-for-the-beginning https://answersingenesis.org/ https://www.gotquestions.org/ https://www.ligonier.org/ https://www.9marks.org/
We delve into Acts 9:19-20 and explore the transformative journey of Saul, later known as Paul, as he transitions from unbelief to immediately proclaiming Jesus as the Son of God. This radical and sudden shift emphasizes that the intellectual leap from unbelief to belief is smaller than perceived. We discuss the root of unbelief is not a lack of information but a resistant attitude. The application section provides a balanced approach when engaging with unbelievers, emphasizing the need to reason (2 Corinthians 10:5, 1 Peter 3:15) while recognizing the inability to convince (1 Corinthians 3:7, 1 Peter 3:16). The content encourages a Christ-facing approach to reasoning, keeping expectations realistic in the face of likely slander or reviling of a rebellious world. Join us in unraveling the complexities of belief, unbelief, and the transformative power of God's revelation in this thought-provoking exploration. #atheist #atheism #bible #religion #christian #christianity #theology #god #jesus #moderndogma --- ► Subscribe to the YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@modern_dogma ► Connect with Modern Dogma: moderndogmapod@gmail.com https://twitter.com/modern_dogma https://www.instagram.com/moderndogma --- Recommended Resources: https://baltimorebiblechurch.org/ https://www.gty.org/ https://www.gotquestions.org/ https://www.ligonier.org/ https://www.9marks.org/
In this episode, I explore the reasons behind my belief that voting for a third party or abstaining from voting is a non-optimal choice in the political landscape. I argue that such choices are futile attempts to inject sophistication and nuance into an inherently blunt and unnuanced act—voting. Additionally, I emphasize that alternative party votes or non-voting still effectively contribute to the mainstream parties. Addressing a common accusation faced by Christians who vote with the Right—being labeled as "single-issue voters"—I debunk the misconception that voting can ever accommodate moral nuance. I argue that the accusation is hypocritical, as even those decrying "single-issue voting" are not expecting nuanced choices but rather disagree with the perceived unnuanced choice made. I express my support for the tactic of voting 100% Republican, seeing it as an elegant and impactful way to align with political conservatism. This approach is characterized as a clean, fast, and theoretically correct tactic that recognizes the dynamics of a political party in a democratic system, where the overall party dynamics often overshadow individual members. https://moderndogma.com/ moderndogmapod@gmail.com #politics #timkeller #election2024 #donaldtrump #rondesantis #vote #bible #religion #christian #christianity #theology #god #jesus #moderndogma --- ► Subscribe to the YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@modern_dogma ► Connect with Modern Dogma on Social Media: https://twitter.com/modern_dogma https://www.instagram.com/moderndogma --- Recommended Resources: https://baltimorebiblechurch.org/ https://www.gty.org/ https://www.gotquestions.org/ https://www.ligonier.org/ https://www.9marks.org/
In this episode, I reflect on my theological framework for engaging in politics, stressing the significance of voting within a democratic context. Having previously advocated for a biblically-consistent approach to supporting political conservatives in modern America, I now shift the focus to tactical considerations for the upcoming 2024 presidential election. My proposal is clear: as a Christian in 2023, I argue that the wisest expression of political conservatism is to vote exclusively for the Republican Party. I introduce the concept of politics as a "game," emphasizing that while voting is crucial, it is not of ultimate, life-and-death importance. I draw a distinction between the primary activities of real life (evangelism and discipleship) and the political game (voting), exploring the limited and blunt nature of voting as the sole means of expressing moral opinions in the political sphere. Furthermore, I delve into the quality of moral expression, highlighting the contrast between the sophisticated nature of real-life conversations and the unnuanced, binary aspect of voting in a two-party system. The discussion culminates in a comparison of the goals of real life (persuasion) and politics (winning), underlining the strategic objective of achieving victory in the political game through the act of voting. https://moderndogma.com/ moderndogmapod@gmail.com #politics #republican #democrats #gop #vote #voting #election2024 #election #trump2024 #rondesantis #bible #religion #christian #christianity #theology #god #jesus #moderndogma --- ► Subscribe to the podcast: Apple: https://bit.ly/47cUwIx Spotify: https://bit.ly/46gTKdc ► Connect with Modern Dogma on Social Media: https://twitter.com/modern_dogma https://www.instagram.com/moderndogma --- Recommended Resources: https://baltimorebiblechurch.org/ https://www.gty.org/ https://www.gotquestions.org/ https://www.ligonier.org/ https://www.9marks.org/
We delve into Doug Wilson's controversial defense of using swear words and explore the rationale behind his argument. Unpacking Wilson's blog post titled "Understanding Bad Words" from April 1, 2011, we scrutinize his assertion that there is no definitive list of forbidden bad words and that the context determines the acceptability of using foul language. The video highlights Wilson's main thesis, which suggests that, akin to God's occasional use of strong language, using swear words can be justified as long as the application aligns with the intended message. We challenge Wilson's stance and aim to expose deceptive elements in his reasoning. https://moderndogma.com/ #dougwilson #moscowmood #kevindeyoung #bible #religion #christian #christianity #theology #god #jesus #bible #moderndogma --- ► Subscribe to the YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@modern_dogma ► Connect with Modern Dogma on Social Media: https://twitter.com/modern_dogma https://www.instagram.com/moderndogma https://www.facebook.com/moderndogma --- Recommended Resources: https://baltimorebiblechurch.org/ https://www.gty.org/ https://www.gotquestions.org/ https://www.ligonier.org/ https://www.9marks.org/
Some thoughts from a recent quiet time I had with the Lord, meditating on Acts 14:19-22–musings on trials, staying faithful to the very end, living an ordinary Christian life, and our human inclinations toward pride. https://moderndogma.com/ moderndogmapod@gmail.com #quiettime #apostlepaul #life #bible #religion #christian #christianity #theology #god #jesus #moderndogma --- ► Subscribe to the YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@modern_dogma ► Connect with Modern Dogma on Social Media: https://twitter.com/modern_dogma https://www.instagram.com/moderndogma --- Recommended Resources: https://baltimorebiblechurch.org/ https://www.gty.org/ https://www.gotquestions.org/ https://www.ligonier.org/ https://www.9marks.org/
Join us as we delve into a compelling thread by Dr. Jordan B. Cooper, exploring the intricacies of guarding our speech according to God's Word. Uncover a theological debate within conservative Christianity, particularly centered around the teaching ministry of Pastor Doug Wilson, who, despite his profound insights, has raised eyebrows with his use of controversial language. Our exploration involves dissecting the arguments, critiques, and the unique challenges faced within the theological conservative community. https://moderndogma.com/ #crosspolitic #dougwilson #kevindeyoung #eschatology #bible #religion #christian #christianity #theology #god #jesus #bible #moderndogma --- ► Subscribe to the Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@modern_dogma/ ► Connect with Modern Dogma on Social Media: https://twitter.com/modern_dogma https://www.instagram.com/moderndogma https://www.facebook.com/moderndogma --- Recommended Resources: https://baltimorebiblechurch.org/ https://www.gty.org/ https://www.gotquestions.org/ https://www.ligonier.org/ https://www.9marks.org/
Embark on a thought-provoking exploration of the UFO phenomenon, Christianity, and the dangers of relying on extrabiblical knowledge. Our journey begins with an examination of UFO encounters, delving into the historical and spiritual aspects while advocating for a biblical perspective. We propose a hypothesis in which UFOs play a role in divine plans, preparing individuals for significant world events and the return of Jesus. As we progress, the focus shifts to the problematic use of the Book of Enoch in discussions about aliens and UFOs. We critique Christian podcasts overly fixated on extrabiblical knowledge, cautioning against accepting the Book of Enoch as divinely inspired. Emphasizing its errors and negative view of technology, we advocate for a biblical perspective that sees technological advancements as blessings. Throughout the series, the message remains clear: resist the allure of seeking answers outside the sufficiency of the Bible. We encourage viewers to embrace the richness of God's revealed knowledge in the fully completed Word, offering a solid foundation to navigate complex topics without turning to potentially deceptive or unreliable sources. https://moderndogma.com/ #ufo #uap #eschatology #bible #religion #christian #christianity #theology #god #jesus #bible #moderndogma --- ► Subscribe to the Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@modern_dogma/ ► Connect with Modern Dogma on Social Media: https://twitter.com/modern_dogma https://www.instagram.com/moderndogma https://www.facebook.com/moderndogma --- Recommended Resources: https://baltimorebiblechurch.org/ https://www.gty.org/ https://www.gotquestions.org/ https://www.ligonier.org/ https://www.9marks.org/
Why do UFOs fly through the air? Why are they often bright, luminous orbs? And when did we first start seeing UFOs, anyway?
We continue an inductive study of the characteristics of UFOs to discover UFOs beings are religious, cause danger and death, and desire to inhabit people.
We employ inductive reasoning to investigate the UFO phenomenon and identify two key characteristics: 1) UFOs are non-physical, 2) the beings behind the UFOs lie and create confusion.
The UFO phenomenon is demonic. We employ deductive reasoning, starting with the big principle of the Bible's comprehensive account of creation, to establish that the inexplicable subset of UFO accounts must be attributed to only one of four intelligent beings: God, men, angels, or demons.
Our last rebuttal against MMT from a biblical perspective is that prescriptive MMT advocates effectively deny man's sin nature. We discussed the surprising foundational idea that built Western civilization and then we discuss why descriptive MMT seems to work--so far.
We continue our criticism of the prescriptions of MMT from a biblical worldview by discussing what the Word says about the nature of the government's monetary relationship to its citizens and also why it matters that mainstream economics deny MMT.
Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) is an innovative economic framework proposed by Warren Mosler and popularized by economists like Stephanie Kelton that make a startling claim: "Deficits don't matter." But what does the Bible say about the theology of debt?
If you believe the Bible, Mason Mennenga thinks you're a backwards bumpkin. We discuss chronological snobbery, the anthropological decay of man, and find a great application for Episode 5 to Mr. Mennenga's latest tweet.
We lay a theoretical foundation using scripture that distinguishes the categories of the general/systemic and particulars/constituents. We apply this concept to charges of systemic injustice and also introduce the radical economics of Modern Monetary Theory.
When should you leave a church or denomination? Answering that question requires answering one of the remaining unsolved theological problems in the Church which is how to distinguish primary and secondary doctrines. We discuss a solution offered by confessionalism, some complicating factors that need to be considered, Medieval scholasticism, and an interesting parallel to a debate on the tripartite nature of the Mosaic Law.
We apply our last episode about keeping doctrines in balance and explore how the natural pessimism of premillennialism is counteracted with two gracious forces.
How do we stay "balanced" in our thinking while navigating the day's most difficult questions? We touch a bit on the polar extremes of critical race theory and Christian nationalism, Hegel's dialectic, and God's prescription for keeping a level head.
An exchange between Lizzie Marbach and Rep. Max Miller of Ohio remind us of why American Christians only stowaway with political conservatives on the Conservative Boat.
Why does Moses ask his brother-in-law, Hobab, to act as Israel's guide when God provided guidance through the cloud and pillar of fire?
We discuss SBC Pastor Larry Lin's viral article, "How I Came to Affirm Female Ordination." We discover the surprising mechanics of Pastor Lin's theological transformation, likely compounded by the fact that he's a nice guy. And we discuss how the enforcement of the Mosaic Law provides guidance against doctrinal compromise.
Our new MEDIA series are interactions with various pieces of media from a Christian worldview. Today we aim to eventually discuss Southern Baptist Convention pastor Larry Lin's article making the rounds on Twitter titled, "How I Came to Affirm Female Ordination." But first, we start with Lin's foundations: a hermeneutic which denies the accessibility of the "plain" understanding of scripture.
There are no unaccountable bureaucrats in God's government.
Decades after Nixon closed the dollar's gold-convertibility window and ushered in our fiat currency global monetary regime, gold continues to hold the fascination and allocation of investors and speculators. Yet, by and large, no one is truly able to understand it--because to understand gold requires God.
What submission to government tells us about conspiracy theories and conspiratorialism. How QAnon and critical race theory are way more similar than most people think. And yes, we talk about COVID mandates. If I have not offended everyone by the end of this episode, I have failed at my one life goal to be an inflammatory Internet personality.
God calls us to "submit" to government--but what does "submission" mean? And who, exactly, are we submitting to? A discussion of common misconceptions.
New podcast series! A jam-packed episode where we discuss the Fourth Turning, the surprisingly theological ideas surrounding bitcoin, a quick detour into gold, and play the dangerous game of attempting to forecast bitcoin's future price.
More applications based who God says we are. We discuss the core problem behind racism, the BLM movement, and my humble 2c on relating to one another.
We have group, individual, and spiritual identities. Now what? Applying an understanding of who we are to our true reality: Our church life. We also interact a little with social justice theologian Jemar Tisby's critique of a systemically racist Church.
Our third identity is our most important: our spiritual identity before God. We discuss the story of Rahab the Canaanite which reveals how group and individual identities synthesize.
Why an incomplete understanding of who we are, as individuals, leads to the blame-shifting that is characteristic of Social Justice Theology. Also, an interaction with Jackie Hill Perry's comments on the Georgia Senate elections (probably).
A degraded society cannot even answer the fundamental question, "Who am I?" We discuss the pervasive ideology of racialism and compare it against God's Word.
Welcome to our Democrat overlords…? Thoughts after the election. Keeping perspective on what really matters.
With tempers flaring in a Presidential election year, believers must remind ourselves: It's just a game.
We refute political liberalism as incompatible with biblical Christianity and introduce the analogy of Two Boats to help us navigate the confusing landscape of American politics.
Establishing a biblically-informed thesis for political conservatism in present-day America.
Part 1 of a multi-part series on politics. What does it mean to be conservative politically vs. conservative theologically? Was Jesus a Republican or Democrat? Why is politics so confusing? How do I Make Evangelicalism Great Again?
Cancel Culture. Outrage Culture. Woke Culture. If you're not angry, you're not paying attention.
We discuss how to think biblically about the destruction of public memorials and the concept of "erasing history."
We deal with the idea that, "Before we condemn rioting, we must condemn systemic racism." We draw out the underlying ideologies of moral relativism, pragmatism, and consequentialism and find help in the story of Dinah.
We discuss the idea that racism isn't actually an issue of the heart, the Bible's opinion on systemic racism, and how Christians are called to interact with the culture.
