Oxford Bible Church - Living in the Last Days

We need to know our identity (Prov 23:7). It has 2 sources: our (1) CREATION in Adam (Gen 1:26-27) & (2) REDEMPTION in Christ. Since we're born in Adam, we share his identity as God's image, to reflect & express His glory. As part of our identity, He created us male or female. In Adam, we all sinned & are under divine judgment. Our nature, inherited from Adam, is prideful rebellion against God. Man's collective sin became so bad, God judged it at Noah's Flood, after which He told man to fill the earth (Gen 9:1). But man rebelled again at Babel (Gen 11:1-9). So, God scattered man over the earth, dividing us into nations. This is God's will, designed to restrain the spread of sin. It's God's idea to create national identities, with different characteristics, that are part of our identity & inheritance in Adam. We embrace & celebrate these aspects of our identity, as we should embrace our God-given sexual identity. As man separated into nations, they developed their own cultures & ways, so certain genes became dominant in populations, creating different abilities & appearances. Though we're divided into nations, we belong to one human family in Adam (Acts 17:26), and so share a common inheritance (good & bad), so we're all equal. Globalism tries to override the power of nation states to set up a one-world government. This was Nimrod's vision at Babel, so he could rule over all mankind. A rebel against God (Gen 10:9), running the world is a worst-case scenario. Satan is trying to rebuild Babel, putting his antichrist in charge of a one-world government (called Babylon). He'll succeed for a short time before Christ destroys it at His Return, and sets up His one world Government. Although many aspects of our natural inheritance & identity are God-given, the great problem is that we also inherit from Adam his identity & nature as a sinner. So, part of our natural identity is that by natural birth, we belong to a fallen race under Divine Judgment, whatever other natural positive qualities we might have. God has a solution for the Fall. Christ came as the 2nd Adam, to be the head of a new human race in Him, the source of a new identity. He came to bring forth a New Creation, a new family in Himself. In His death as the last Adam, He took on Himself all the fallen aspects of our Adamic inheritance of sin & death, and cancelled it, and by His resurrection He brought us into a new inheritance in the New Covenant, the firstborn from the dead of a New Creation, a new species of humanity, with His spiritual DNA. For those who receive Him as Saviour & Lord, He provides a New Birth of our spirit, making us a New Man in Christ. Thru our union with Him, we receive a new nature, identity & origin-history, for we've died & risen with Christ, and now belong to Him. As our 1st (physical) birth in Adam made us an inheritor of Adam, so our new (spiritual) birth in Christ makes us an inheritor of all that's Christ's (John 1:12-13, 3:3-7, Eph 4:23-24). We still have the God-given aspects of our natural identity & inheritance (gender, gifts, personality & nation), but our new identity & inheritance in Christ is far more important & dominant. By our union with Christ, all God's blessings of God are ours in Christ (Rom 8:32, 2Cor 1:20, Eph 1:3). Whoever we are in the natural, the most important truth about us is who we are in Christ (Col 3:9). In this New Creation reality, Christ is all important, and He is in us all. We're all equal in Him. National & natural distinctions still exist, but are overwhelmed by the greater truth of our identity in Christ – we belong to Him, created in His image, in God's family & Kingdom. National distinctions & natural differences count for nothing as far as our inheritance in Christ is concerned (Phil 3:4-7). We're all equal inheritors of salvation & eternal life (Rom 10:12-13). God has no favourites (2Cor 5:14-17). The new overrules and supersedes the old. We don't just have a new individual identity in Christ, but a new corporate identity. We're not just individuals; together we form one New Man in Christ (Eph 2:8-15), His New Creation, one People of God, one Body & Bride of Christ, one forever Family, living stones forming a single Temple of God. We're God's people, redeemed by His Blood (Rev 5:8-10). We have a common origin in His death & resurrection, a common identity in Christ, and a common purpose to live for (glorify) Him who loved us (Gal 3:26-28). We are all ONE (entity) in Christ Jesus (Gal 3:28). As in Adam, we're all of one blood (Acts 17:26), so in Christ, we're of one blood (the Blood of Christ). Being in Christ & His family is our primary (core) identity. Our allegiance to Christ overwhelms all other loyalties, and His command is to love one another. We celebrate our natural & national diversity, but most of all we celebrate our identity & unity in Christ, where God has broken down all racial divisions.

In this inaugural episode of the new series "Kingdom Now," Pastor Karl introduces an in-depth journey through the Gospel of Matthew. Titled after Jesus's prayer in Matthew 6, "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven," this series explores the unique perspective of Matthew's Gospel, emphasizing the kingdom of God in an upside-down way that challenges expectations. Pastor Karl sets the stage by providing background on the four Gospels, highlighting Matthew's distinct focus on Jesus as the royal Messiah from the line of David, written specifically for a Jewish audience. He delves into Matthew's identity as a former tax collector, illustrating how Jesus transformed his life, changing his identity and direction. Through Matthew's story, Pastor Karl introduces the discipleship process of "belong, become, give, and go," encouraging listeners to reflect on their own spiritual journey. The episode focuses on Matthew 1:1-17, exploring Jesus's genealogy and its purposeful inclusion of unexpected figures, reinforcing the message that when God writes the story, nothing is a mistake. You don't need a mic to preach. You are the sermon. In this fire-filled message, Pastor Marty drops a prophetic word straight from 2 Corinthians 3—you are a living epistle, not written in ink but by the Spirit of the living God. You're not just carrying glory… you're leaking it. This isn't Old Testament visitation—it's New Testament habitation. That means what came on Moses now lives in you. He calls out the drift—where we wait for the church to bring glory when God's already put it in us. He warns against worshiping personalities, pastors, and platforms instead of walking in your own Spirit-filled identity. And then—boom—a prophetic reminder from Haggai: “The glory of this house will be greater than the former.” This isn't a call to admire revival. It's a call to be revival. So the question isn't can people see God in you. It's: What chapter are they reading when they look at your life?

What we call Jesus reveals how we see Him—and how we see Him shapes everything. In this special family service, Pastor Warren opens with a fun moment with the kids, then leads us into the most important question Jesus ever asked: “But who do you say that I am?” Some called Him a carpenter. Some, a good teacher. Some, a prophet. But none of those were enough. Pastor Warren walks through Scripture to show how people saw Jesus—and how Jesus sees us. God doesn't just call us servants. He calls us Children. He calls us Friends. He calls us More Than Conquerors. This message reminds us that identity is mutual. What you believe about Jesus determines how you live. And what He calls you? Changes everything.

Pride Month is evil, and we must call it what it is. In this episode, we're discussing the spiritual implications of Pride Month, asking hard questions about what it represents—and how believers should respond. We're drawing the connection between pride, identity, and rebellion against God's design for human flourishing. Many Christians feel spiritually drained during this month, and we should. I'm challenging my listeners to love the LGBTQ+ community not with silence or compromise (and certainly not with support) but with truth—the truth that God offers forgiveness, transformation, and eternal life to all who repent and follow Christ. We must hate sin while praying for our enemies. Our culture desperately needs more holiness, conviction, and compassion rooted in the gospel, which is telling those around us the truth.—https://www.thebrandsunday.com/products/the-bible-study-physical?srsltid=AfmBOoqBR_MWE2-fkYXYHCn80nZtEct4ixmRGrXZSrgIn5HP_tBc9Mcy

Cara and I talk about how camp can turn faith into a checklist—who's in, who's out, who fits and who doesn't. But we also imagine what camp could be if it became a place of real belonging, where every kid was seen and valued, no matter their story. If you've ever looked back on your camp experience with mixed feelings, or wondered how those weeks shaped your view of God and yourself, you'll find something here. "The Door" - Power and Promise Series Journey into the rich world of first-century shepherding to understand one of Jesus's most profound "I AM" statements. Through two distinct types of sheepfolds—city and country—discover how Jesus reveals His role as both our salvation and protection. Key Insights: • The City Sheepfold: Where true sheep recognize their shepherd's voice • The Country Sheepfold: Where the shepherd becomes the door • Why sheep respond only to their shepherd's unique call • How Jesus positions Himself between us and every danger • The difference between religious activity and true relationship Scripture Focus: John 10:1-10 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/JHN.10.NIV) "I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture." Learn why sheep recognize their shepherd's voice and how this metaphor reveals three truths: Jesus as the only way to God, his promise of protection, and his path to fulfillment. Understanding how shepherds became living doors by laying down in the gateway illuminates Jesus's role between us and danger. This message challenges believers to examine whose voice they follow and whether they've entered through the one door that leads to abundant life. In this episode, Niall asks whether it's regretful that Catholic traditions and customs are fading in Ireland while Islam appears to be on the rise. Even for those who aren't religious, have we lost something culturally significant as church attendance falls and Catholic feasts and festivals lose prominence? Some callers argue that religion, in any form, often leads to division. They celebrate the decline of Catholicism as a sign of progress and question whether Islam truly aligns with Ireland's cultural values. For them, the modern era should focus on rational thought rather than religious traditions.Others express sadness about the waning influence of Catholic customs and festivals. They see these traditions as an integral part of Ireland's heritage—bonding communities through shared feasts, saints' days, and even Sunday Mass. While not necessarily devout themselves, they lament losing a collective identity tied to Catholic roots, regardless of other faiths gaining traction.Niall concludes by reflecting on the changing spiritual landscape and what it means for Ireland's cultural identity. Listeners are left to ponder whether the decline of Catholicism is a natural evolution or a loss of invaluable heritage.

If we think of Ozzy Osbourne or Manson and all of those people that were sort of a part of this sort of occult, satanic worship and the hip hop plan. How many souls could have been saved if we would have seen Satan's agenda and tried to stop it?”Hip-hop's evolution from art form to a recognized religious influence has shaped perceptions worldwide.Music in general has a profound effect on the human mind, since it affects both left and right brains. It's vital to consider the spiritual messages woven into all the music you listen to.[07:05] Blurry Con and Spiritual WarfareBlurry Con was a conference that viewed supernatural topics through a Biblical lens. The speakers shared their stories of real-life spiritual resistance.Spiritual warfare isn't just an internal battle. It can affect your daily life and your real-world interactions — that's why the faithful need to stay vigilant and spiritually equipped. There are several unseen forces that impact the world and society at large.Blurry Con wasn't without its own strange happenings, such as a sudden power outage during the discussion on spiritual warfare.[12:27] Education and Moral Standards in SocietySchool curricula have changed over the years, making it important for us to scrutinize what our children are learning.Young minds are now able to see different perspectives and learn from different cultural influences instead of being locked to a single viewpoint.A broader education will have a significant effect on younger generations. It's still valuable to have a strong, faith-based identity. This identity is best built at home. It's a good idea to focus on biblical principles and engage in discussions that build resilience and a moral foundation.[16:57] Identity in ChristKnowing your true identity in Christ builds a foundation that influences choices, relationships, and inner strength.Embracing that identity also helps believers withstand spiritual attacks and live with courage. But the effects aren't just within. A solid sense of identity shapes a person's response to everyday trials and moral dilemmas.[17:21] Jenny: “I just think that God's moving. I think we saw it with the storm Milton too, the amount of people that prayed and really stood in their authority.”[21:42] Role of Faith and Authority in Spiritual LifeChristians who stand firm against dark influences always witness their faith prevail.[22:05] Lori: “Occultists understand the supernatural better than Christians do, and that sucks, and it shouldn't be that way.”Jenny and Lori share personal stories on how embracing spiritual authority adds purpose and confidence to a Christian's walk.We should all remember that faith in action, supported by biblical truths, enables us to be unshaken by the challenges and influences of the world.About Jenny MireJenny Mire is a passionate faith leader, podcast host, and co-founder of Rooted Truth a ministry dedicated to helping people understand their identity in Christ and walk boldly in spiritual truth. In the nineteenth episode of "Identity Theft," Duane Sheriff teaches how our spiritual identity can be stolen, manipulated, or misunderstood, leading to a life that does not reflect the true potential God has planned for each individual. Spiritual identity theft occurs when individuals allow negative influences, such as peer pressure, societal expectations, and personal failures, to define who they are. According to the Bible, each person is uniquely created in the image of God and endowed with specific gifts and purposes. Ephesians 2:10 states that we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Jeremiah 29:11 assures believers of God's plan for their future, filled with hope and purpose. Reclaim your spiritual identity by immersing yourself in God's word, seeking a supportive Christian community, and engaging in regular prayer. By doing so, you can counteract the negative influences trying to steal your spiritual identity and instead live a life that is true to God's design.
