#298 Where Can Real Peace be Found? – a yogic perspective

Yoga Wisdom with Acharya das

In a powerful and thought-provoking talk delivered in Sydney, Australia, Acharya das explores the dramatic transformation of human consciousness in the modern age and asks a confronting question: Why, despite unprecedented technological advancement and material comfort, are so many people experiencing anxiety, emptiness, and hopelessness? Drawing on alarming statistics surrounding depression, mental health crises, and the growing despair among younger generations, he presents a compelling analysis of a society that has become increasingly disconnected from inner peace and spiritual purpose.Acharya das examines the profound psychological impact of modern technology, social media, and smartphone culture, revealing how people are not only consumers in the digital economy — but have themselves become the product. He explains how algorithms, data collection, and constant stimulation shape human behavior, fuel dissatisfaction, and intensify mental disturbance. He further critiques the institutionalization of greed and envy within modern economic systems, arguing that many societies actively cultivate endless consumption and comparison as drivers of economic growth, often at great cost to human wellbeing.Contrasting this modern condition with the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad-gītā, Acharya das offers a deeply hopeful alternative vision of life. He explains the yogic understanding that true peace does not arise from endlessly pursuing material desires, but from awakening spiritual consciousness and recognizing our deeper identity beyond the temporary body and restless mind. Using profound spiritual insights and practical guidance, he concludes by presenting meditation and mantra chanting as transformative daily practices capable of restoring clarity, balance, and genuine inner peace. This illuminating presentation challenges conventional assumptions about happiness and progress while offering practical spiritual wisdom for anyone seeking meaning, resilience, and lasting peace in an increasingly restless world.Chapters 00:00:00 Introduction: The Unprecedented Transformation of Human Consciousness ‎ 00:03:58 The Smartphone Revolution and Loss of Human Connection ‎ 00:06:15 The Economic Value of Peace and Generational Despair ‎ 00:10:25 Misconceptions About Peace as a Commodity ‎ 00:14:19 The Surveillance and Exploitation of Smartphone Users ‎ 00:18:52 The Scale of Digital Advertising and Tech Company Revenue ‎ 00:20:56 The Rise of Self-Centeredness and the Selfie Culture ‎ 00:26:31 Historical Analysis: The Century of Self-Centeredness ‎ 00:30:34 The Origins of Consumer Culture and Propaganda ‎ 00:35:28 The Deliberate Shift from Needs to Desires Culture ‎ 00:39:21 Economic Theory Promoting Envy and Greed ‎ 00:41:40 Economic Critique and the Seeds of Destruction ‎ 00:43:44 The Promise of Happiness Through Consumption ‎ 00:46:58 The Influencer Economy and Children's Aspirations ‎ 00:48:45 Ancient Yogic Wisdom: The Alternative Perspective ‎ 00:52:52 The Necessity of Transcendental Connection ‎ 00:54:38 The Fundamental Spiritual Principle‎ 00:57:07 The Illusion of Physical Identity ‎ 00:58:58 The Reality of Mortality and Spiritual Identity ‎ 01:00:39 Spiritual Nutrition and Meditation Practice ‎ 01:03:19 Conclusion: The Path to Genuine Peace

Hugo sits down with Amanda Dollinger — meditation teacher, spiritual guide, branding creative, and someone he's admired from afar for years. This one goes deep. Amanda opens up about resisting her calling for as long as she possibly could, the "innumerable ego deaths" it took to finally accept who she is, and what happens when you spend years trying to fit a gift into a mold that was never made for you. They get into the mental health crisis and its connection to self-acceptance, the danger of tying your identity to your career, and why the future belongs to the most authentic version of you — not the most productive one. Amanda also takes on one of the worst pieces of advice in her industry (hint: it involves the algorithm and a whole lot of junk food content), and shares what spirituality has truly taught her about worth, worthiness, and what it means to just be.This episode is a mirror. This is the 3rd talk in a Series on Wellness dealing with Trauma from a spiritual perspective. The two core premises presented in the discussion to help with a spiritual perspective is the Dharmic traditions understood that all pain and suffering will be somehow rooted in ignorance, and secondly, material existence and spiritual life as operating under completely different paradigms based upon the understanding (or misunderstanding) of the ‘self', who I actually am. Am I the temporary and constantly changing material body and mind, or am I an eternal spiritual being who is inhabiting the material body and mind?During the talk a previous series of seven videos was referenced, titled “Weathering a Storm”. In this episode of The Mindset and Manifesting Podcast, Lynna K Teer explores a subtle but critical distinction within Neville Goddard's teachings that is often overlooked. As understanding of The Law deepens, many begin to shift from observing consciousness to identifying as someone who “knows” or “manifests.” This shift may appear harmless, but it introduces distortion into the practice.Neville Goddard taught The Law as an impersonal principle of consciousness. It is not something to own, achieve, or use to elevate identity. It is always operating, regardless of personal understanding. In this episode, we examine how spiritual identity quietly forms, why it disrupts clarity, and how it redirects attention away from awareness and toward self-image. This is not a discussion about ego in dramatic terms, but a precise look at how the mind organizes experience into identity and how that impacts the practice of conscious creation. You will learn:The difference between practicing The Law and identifying as a “manifestor”Why Neville emphasized that consciousness is the only reality, not the personalityHow spiritual identity subtly reinforces itself through thought patternsWhy conscious creation must remain fluid, observational, and impersonalThe role of discernment in maintaining clarity and psychological accuracyHow identity interferes with honest observation and growthWhy humility naturally emerges as understanding deepensHow to return to simplicity in the practice of awarenessThis episode brings the focus back to what Neville actually taught: awareness, assumption, and identity as functions within consciousness, not personal achievements. It clarifies why no one stands outside The Law and why the work must remain grounded, honest, and free from psychological entanglement. If you have found yourself becoming identified with manifestation, spiritual knowledge, or personal “advancement,” this episode will help you recalibrate and return to clarity.Key Takeaway:Conscious creation is not an identity. It is an ongoing observation of states, assumptions, and awareness itself.Explore More:Study Neville Goddard's teachings in depth: https://NevilleGoddardOfficial.comRead psychological interpretations of Scripture:https://TheBibleYourBiography.comApply for Mentorship: https://LynnaKTeer.com

Welcome back to the Compared to Who? podcast and our ongoing series, Waiting for Weight Loss. In today’s episode, Heather Creekmore shares a powerful story about a time when her identity—literally—was stolen, setting the stage for an honest discussion about our true identity in Christ. Episode Highlights: Heather Creekmore opens up with a personal experience of being mugged and losing her physical identification, making the connection to how many of us “lose” our spiritual identity while chasing the approval of others or pursuing body goals. She asks: Has your identity been stolen—figuratively—by misplaced priorities, societal pressures, or the pursuit of weight loss? We explore the idea that any identity outside of Christ is a “fake ID,” and discuss what it means to rest in our adoption as daughters (and sons) of God. Heather Creekmore unpacks how our attempts to earn love and acceptance through appearance or achievements are distractions from the Gospel. The healthiest approach to weight loss and goals? Pursuing them from a place of already being fully loved and accepted, not from a place of insecurity or striving to earn worth. Reflection Questions: What “fake IDs” have you been carrying? How would your approach to your body and your goals change if you truly believed your identity was already secure in Christ? The release of the Epstein files is a window into something far larger: power operating in the shadows, shaping culture, medicine, and the future of humanity itself. In this episode, I connect that to the transhumanist movement, which is nothing more than eugenics repackaged for a new era, and to the psychiatric industrial complex, which has always been part of that anti-human project.I then share 10 minutes from a recent conference talk where I spoke directly about what I believe is a systematic assault on human consciousness. Pathologizing the inner world, suppressing spiritual identity, severing people from God, from nature, from one another. This is not accident or incompetence. It is by design. When you disconnect people from their soul, you create a population that is dependent, confused, and easily controlled. That is the function of the mental health industrial complex. It is time to reclaim your sovereignty, your spirit, and your mind.

I'm baaaaaack! This feels like the Finale of my Girl Boss Down experience over the past few months, and I had to drop in before dropping in with the REAL finalé episode for healing honeys. After months of what I thought was “just burnout,” I realised it went deeper: an identity unraveling. A spiritual initiation. The kind of slow, relentless “ego erosion” where the life you built stops feeling like it fits - and you're forced to ask the question you've been avoiding: Who am I without work? This episode I share you where I've landed and why I feel like the cycle has finally started to come to an end.  In this episode, I unpack: Why I've recorded the finale episode three times… and still haven't posted it How coming home to the family unit cracked something open (and brought up everything) The real driver underneath my ambition The prayer I said before bed (“show me what's holding me back”)… and the four nights of dreams that answered Why I'm craving Substack, writing, truth, and long-form expression - and feeling allergic to the performative, dopamine-farm internet and also just working in general (lol) The reminder that changes everything about moving your body This is for the woman living in the fast lane thinking - how did life get this fast?  And yes — I'm birthing something in January.Stripped & Shifted is coming. (You'll understand why after this episode.)

Oxford Bible Church - Living in the Last Days

We need to know our identity (Prov 23:7). It has 2 sources: our (1) CREATION in Adam (Gen 1:26-27) & (2) REDEMPTION in Christ. Since we're born in Adam, we share his identity as God's image, to reflect & express His glory. As part of our identity, He created us male or female. In Adam, we all sinned & are under divine judgment. Our nature, inherited from Adam, is prideful rebellion against God. Man's collective sin became so bad, God judged it at Noah's Flood, after which He told man to fill the earth (Gen 9:1). But man rebelled again at Babel (Gen 11:1-9). So, God scattered man over the earth, dividing us into nations. This is God's will, designed to restrain the spread of sin. It's God's idea to create national identities, with different characteristics, that are part of our identity & inheritance in Adam. We embrace & celebrate these aspects of our identity, as we should embrace our God-given sexual identity. As man separated into nations, they developed their own cultures & ways, so certain genes became dominant in populations, creating different abilities & appearances. Though we're divided into nations, we belong to one human family in Adam (Acts 17:26), and so share a common inheritance (good & bad), so we're all equal. Globalism tries to override the power of nation states to set up a one-world government. This was Nimrod's vision at Babel, so he could rule over all mankind. A rebel against God (Gen 10:9), running the world is a worst-case scenario. Satan is trying to rebuild Babel, putting his antichrist in charge of a one-world government (called Babylon). He'll succeed for a short time before Christ destroys it at His Return, and sets up His one world Government. Although many aspects of our natural inheritance & identity are God-given, the great problem is that we also inherit from Adam his identity & nature as a sinner. So, part of our natural identity is that by natural birth, we belong to a fallen race under Divine Judgment, whatever other natural positive qualities we might have. God has a solution for the Fall. Christ came as the 2nd Adam, to be the head of a new human race in Him, the source of a new identity. He came to bring forth a New Creation, a new family in Himself. In His death as the last Adam, He took on Himself all the fallen aspects of our Adamic inheritance of sin & death, and cancelled it, and by His resurrection He brought us into a new inheritance in the New Covenant, the firstborn from the dead of a New Creation, a new species of humanity, with His spiritual DNA. For those who receive Him as Saviour & Lord, He provides a New Birth of our spirit, making us a New Man in Christ. Thru our union with Him, we receive a new nature, identity & origin-history, for we've died & risen with Christ, and now belong to Him. As our 1st (physical) birth in Adam made us an inheritor of Adam, so our new (spiritual) birth in Christ makes us an inheritor of all that's Christ's (John 1:12-13, 3:3-7, Eph 4:23-24). We still have the God-given aspects of our natural identity & inheritance (gender, gifts, personality & nation), but our new identity & inheritance in Christ is far more important & dominant. By our union with Christ, all God's blessings of God are ours in Christ (Rom 8:32, 2Cor 1:20, Eph 1:3). Whoever we are in the natural, the most important truth about us is who we are in Christ (Col 3:9). In this New Creation reality, Christ is all important, and He is in us all. We're all equal in Him. National & natural distinctions still exist, but are overwhelmed by the greater truth of our identity in Christ – we belong to Him, created in His image, in God's family & Kingdom. National distinctions & natural differences count for nothing as far as our inheritance in Christ is concerned (Phil 3:4-7). We're all equal inheritors of salvation & eternal life (Rom 10:12-13). God has no favourites (2Cor 5:14-17). The new overrules and supersedes the old. We don't just have a new individual identity in Christ, but a new corporate identity. We're not just individuals; together we form one New Man in Christ (Eph 2:8-15), His New Creation, one People of God, one Body & Bride of Christ, one forever Family, living stones forming a single Temple of God. We're God's people, redeemed by His Blood (Rev 5:8-10). We have a common origin in His death & resurrection, a common identity in Christ, and a common purpose to live for (glorify) Him who loved us (Gal 3:26-28). We are all ONE (entity) in Christ Jesus (Gal 3:28). As in Adam, we're all of one blood (Acts 17:26), so in Christ, we're of one blood (the Blood of Christ). Being in Christ & His family is our primary (core) identity. Our allegiance to Christ overwhelms all other loyalties, and His command is to love one another. We celebrate our natural & national diversity, but most of all we celebrate our identity & unity in Christ, where God has broken down all racial divisions.

You don't need a mic to preach. You are the sermon. In this fire-filled message, Pastor Marty drops a prophetic word straight from 2 Corinthians 3—you are a living epistle, not written in ink but by the Spirit of the living God. You're not just carrying glory… you're leaking it. This isn't Old Testament visitation—it's New Testament habitation. That means what came on Moses now lives in you. He calls out the drift—where we wait for the church to bring glory when God's already put it in us. He warns against worshiping personalities, pastors, and platforms instead of walking in your own Spirit-filled identity. And then—boom—a prophetic reminder from Haggai: “The glory of this house will be greater than the former.” This isn't a call to admire revival. It's a call to be revival. So the question isn't can people see God in you. It's: What chapter are they reading when they look at your life?

What we call Jesus reveals how we see Him—and how we see Him shapes everything. In this special family service, Pastor Warren opens with a fun moment with the kids, then leads us into the most important question Jesus ever asked: “But who do you say that I am?” Some called Him a carpenter. Some, a good teacher. Some, a prophet. But none of those were enough. Pastor Warren walks through Scripture to show how people saw Jesus—and how Jesus sees us. God doesn't just call us servants. He calls us Children. He calls us Friends. He calls us More Than Conquerors. This message reminds us that identity is mutual. What you believe about Jesus determines how you live. And what He calls you? Changes everything.

Pride Month is evil, and we must call it what it is. In this episode, we're discussing the spiritual implications of Pride Month, asking hard questions about what it represents—and how believers should respond. We're drawing the connection between pride, identity, and rebellion against God's design for human flourishing. Many Christians feel spiritually drained during this month, and we should. I'm challenging my listeners to love the LGBTQ+ community not with silence or compromise (and certainly not with support) but with truth—the truth that God offers forgiveness, transformation, and eternal life to all who repent and follow Christ. We must hate sin while praying for our enemies. Our culture desperately needs more holiness, conviction, and compassion rooted in the gospel, which is telling those around us the truth.—https://www.thebrandsunday.com/products/the-bible-study-physical?srsltid=AfmBOoqBR_MWE2-fkYXYHCn80nZtEct4ixmRGrXZSrgIn5HP_tBc9Mcy

Cara and I talk about how camp can turn faith into a checklist—who's in, who's out, who fits and who doesn't. But we also imagine what camp could be if it became a place of real belonging, where every kid was seen and valued, no matter their story. If you've ever looked back on your camp experience with mixed feelings, or wondered how those weeks shaped your view of God and yourself, you'll find something here. In a world full of fear, pressure, and compromise, the call isn't to strive harder or prove yourself. Instead, it's to be marked by Jesus, shaped by His mercy and truth, and transformed into people who reflect His character. Worship isn't just something we do. Episode SummaryIn this opening episode of The Believer's Authority series, Dr. Jim Van Gelderen lays the biblical foundation for victorious Christian living. Drawing from Ephesians and Colossians, he explains how every believer is spiritually seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above all demonic powers.
