Being a devout man every morning he stopped at a little Catholic Church, St. James Church on Olive Street,  to pray. Same prayer every day: “O Lord, give me health and strength. We'll steal the rest.”  Fishhooks sounds like one of those politicians you shouldn't trust; but people remembered him as a Robin Hood who used graft and corruption to redistribute money to his unemployed and working class poor constituents.Let me be very clear! I am not advocating for theft, bribery, corruption, immorality, stepping outside the law, and all the rest. We have more than enough of that with the Trump/MAGA Regime. Marjorie Taylor Greene has decided to go scorched earth against her own Republican Party, as well as some of Donald Trump's signature policies, and the reaction from voters might surprise you. Rather than being angry about her attacking Trump on issues ranging from tariffs to the Epstein files to Obamacare subsidies, voters in her district are actually THRILLED that she is standing up for the things that they want. This is getting a little too weird for comfort as Greene seems to be maturing as a person and a member of Congress.Dr. Phil McGraw decided to end his popular daytime talk show a few years ago so that he could launch his own media company that went full MAGA. It didn't work out well for him, as the company had to file for bankruptcy this summer after laying off tons of employees. But that's just the beginning of the problems that Dr. Phil has faced since trying to become the new voice of conservative politics, as his latest business venture is also facing hard times after only existing for a few months. Cheryl Hines, mediocre actress and current wife of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., went on The View this week where she was finally asked to explain the brain worm that her husband brought up - unprovoked - on the campaign trail last year. Hines insisted that the worm only "ate a little bit" of her husband's brain before dying, making the statement as if it were the most natural thing in the world to admit.Thousands of text messages have been obtained by Politico showing the disgusting group chats happening between leaders of Young Republican groups across the country. The messages are filled with racist comments and slurs, adoration for Adolph Hitler, and even fantasies about assault and murder and torture. These young people are clearly deeply disturbed and need mental health services immediately, but they instead found a home in today's Republican Party and they were shaping up to be the next generation of leaders of the GOP. Time Magazine ran a litany of articles in their latest issue this week praising Donald Trump for things he probably shouldn't even be getting credit for. But in spite of the praise, he still took issue with the magazine and had a meltdown over the cover photo that they used. Trump whined on social media that it made it look like his hair had "disappeared" and how much he never liked photos from that angle. The attack in democracy under President Donald Trump in the United States is both broader and deeper than you think. If you think that young people are not informed about, paying attention to or taking action to counter the harm, in rhetoric and policy, practiced by the current administration, you will be encouraged by this episode of Power Station. My three outstanding guests, Jean Garcia, Hannia Hernandez-Mendoza and Bryan Juarez Ruiz, are college students whose academic successes and commitment to shaping a more just future led to their selection as summer interns with the National Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Association. NMSHSA is the advocate and support system for 24 migrant head start centers that provide high-quality educational services to 26,000 children of farmworkers in 34 states.  Jean, Hannia and Bryan have all experienced the extreme challenges of agricultural work first-hand. And they all credit their early childhood days in migrant head start centers as foundational to their educational development and capacity to, as their immigrant parents expect, build a life for themselves beyond the fields in which they have toiled. They are on the way, not only to personal achievement but to charting bold systems change for farmworkers, immigrants and other underserved and targeted communities.
