In Matthew 15, Pastor Karl walks through two encounters that reveal how Jesus responds to very different kinds of people. The first is a confrontation with the Pharisees — religious leaders who had mastered looking clean on the outside while leaving their hearts completely untouched. Jesus exposes their hypocrisy and makes clear that the real issue is never what comes in from the outside, but what flows out from within. The second is a striking contrast: a Canaanite woman from Tyre and Sidon who comes to Jesus with nothing to offer — no credentials, no leverage, no religious standing. She simply cries out for mercy. When Jesus seems silent and even dismissive, she doesn't leave offended. She presses in, clings to grace, and receives what the Pharisees never could: a direct word of commendation from Jesus himself — "Great is your faith."God honors a transformed heart and exposes religious hypocrisy. And he blesses according to his grace — not our worthiness. This message is an invitation to stop trying to leverage God and start crying out for his mercy.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
Idolatry is more than just worshipping statues that don't and can't respond. This episode explains that it's a heart issue.
After an unintentional hiatus, Matt and Dr. O are back! It has been a busy few months for them (and will be a busy next few months). Through the busyness, every Christian carries a worldview that is influenced by the change the Holy Spirit has started in them. Many people look at this worldview and call it "old-fashioned," "outdated," or downright ignorant. However, the struggle is not with people who reject Christ. The struggle comes with the believer aligning his or her thoughts with that of Scripture. Listen to how much the Christian worldview effects every part of our lives, including how we view counseling methods.Connect with us!Website – soulcare.ioEmail – soulcarenomad@gmail.comFacebook – Soul Care NomadInstagram – Soul Care NetworkDr. O's X profile – @jonokinagaHeart Issues book – Amazon
In this episode of Compared to Who?, Heather Creekmore welcomes Morgan Krueger to discuss the idea of living for something greater than ourselves, particularly through a Christ-centered lens. Morgan Krueger shares her personal journey from seeking the approval of others and wrestling with identity, to finding freedom in magnifying the Lord above all else—even during seasons of major life transition, including job changes, moving, and motherhood 00:53-03:16. Together, Heather Creekmore and Morgan Krueger explore themes such as the fear of man, the dangers of self-focus, and the liberating practice of self-forgetfulness inspired by Tim Keller's The Freedom of Self Forgetfulness 05:06-06:50. They discuss biblical stories, like Mary and Martha, and the difference between Christ's invitation to "come" and his command to "go," emphasizing the importance of being with Jesus before doing for Jesus 09:33-10:13. The conversation then delves into the tension Christian women feel between cultural pressures to be busy and productive and the biblical call to rest and trust 10:13-11:16. They candidly address the traps of shame and pride, the relentless pull to center life on self-glorification, and the continual invitation from Jesus to return, receive grace, and reorient towards Him 15:20-18:14. Heather Creekmore and Morgan Krueger highlight that our deepest issues with identity, approval, and body image are not just shaped by culture but by the condition of our hearts, and that true rest and purpose are found in magnifying God's name, not our own 24:29-26:03. Morgan Krueger introduces her new book, Made to Magnify: Choosing to Live for Jesus When Everything Tells You to Live for Yourself*, which explores these themes in greater depth and offers encouragement and practical guidance for women seeking to center their lives on Christ. The episode closes with information on how listeners can connect with Morgan Krueger and a reminder to focus less on comparison and more on living in the beautiful invitation to follow Jesus. *Amazon affiliate link. What if the reason so many people struggle with chronic illness has less to do with the diagnosis and more to do with the health of their cells? In this episode of the HEAL with Kelly Podcast, I sit down with physician, bestselling author, and Founder of Vital Plan, Dr. Bill Rawls, to explore the deeper drivers of chronic illness and how to heal the real root – the cell. After developing chronic Lyme disease in his 40s and experiencing his vitality disintegrate, Dr. Rawls began questioning the conventional approach to chronic illness. His search for answers led him beyond the traditional medical model and into the world of cellular health, herbal medicine, and lifestyle factors that influence the body's ability to heal. Dr. Rawls explains the role of cellular stress in chronic disease, why herbs and adaptogens may work differently but as (or more!) potently than pharmaceuticals, how lifestyle shifts can restore balance in the body, and why healing often begins by addressing the environment we live in and the habits we practice every day. This hope-inducing episode offers a new way of thinking about chronic illness, not as a failing body, but as a signal that our cells need support. If you've ever wondered why symptoms persist or why diagnoses can feel incomplete, this may shift how you think about healing. Key Moments You'll Love ✨:
"Do You Have a Heart Issue?" - Sermon by Anthony DeLucia - James 3:13-4:12
"When you allow God to get a hold of your checkbook, you are not giving him the opportunity to just write the checks, but you are allowing him to write the deposits as well." — Addy Reilly Are you just consuming, or are you producing? In this stirring message, Addy Reilly challenges the "social media Christianity" that focuses only on identity without expectation. Using the powerful metaphor of a steel mill, she reveals how God uses the raw materials of our lives to forge something unbreakable for His kingdom. In this solo episode, Brad shares a few recent herd-health case studies from his dairy, highlighting the value of diagnostics and transparency. He walks through two calf losses—one at 60 days old and another at 9 months. Both animals had been treated for common issues but continued to decline. Necropsies revealed severe heart abnormalities in each case (thin, underdeveloped ventricles), pointing toward possible genetic or nutritional causes. The takeaway: without a necropsy, these would have remained unexplained losses.Brad also discusses a recent abortion in a dry cow. Diagnostic testing ruled out BVD and IBR and identified Citrobacter sp., an environmental organism found in manure, soil, and bedding that can contribute to abortions. He suspects environmental exposure in wintered dry cows may have played a role.Overall, the episode emphasizes investigating unexpected losses, using lab diagnostics, and learning from on-farm challenges as spring calving approaches.Questions, comments, scathing rebuttals? -> themoosroom@umn.edu or call 612-624-3610 and leave us a message!Linkedin -> The Moos RoomTwitter -> @UMNmoosroom and @UMNFarmSafetyFacebook -> @UMNDairyYouTube -> UMN Beef and Dairy and UMN Farm Safety and HealthInstagram -> @UMNWCROCDairyExtension WebsiteAgriAmerica Podcast Directory

Sermon Summary: "The Heart Issue!"## Sermon Summary: “The Heart Is the Issue”Cielita’s message centered on the idea that the root of all spiritual growth, struggle, and transformation is the condition of the heart. Drawing extensively from Scripture, she emphasized that external behavior problems are symptoms, not the cause—the true issue is internal.### 1. The Heart as the Source of Life She taught that the heart is deceitful and deeply affected by sin, referencing passages from Jeremiah, Proverbs, Mark, and Romans. Decisions, words, and actions ultimately flow from the heart, not just the mind. Because of this, God looks at the heart when judging, not merely outward actions.### 2. Salvation and Transformation Begin in the Heart Cielita explained that salvation itself is a heart issue—“with the heart one believes unto righteousness.” God’s work in believers includes giving them a new heart, with new desires aligned to His will. This inward change enables believers to move “from glory to glory” and reflect God’s image to the world.### 3. Mind Renewal and Spiritual Warfare A major theme was the renewal of the mind. She stressed that not every thought comes from God or even from ourselves; believers must resist deceptive or destructive thoughts and replace them with God’s Word. Victory comes through being a doer of the Word, not just a hearer. She warned that unresolved heart issues—such as fear, unforgiveness, wrong beliefs, or cultural influences—can keep people stuck in cycles of sin or dysfunction, even after salvation.### 4. Uprooting What Opposes God’s Word Using imagery from Jeremiah 1, Cielita described the process of spiritual growth as one of:• Uprooting • Tearing down • Destroying • OverthrowingAnything in the heart that opposes God’s Word must be dealt with decisively. She emphasized that this requires intentional effort, honesty, and willingness to face uncomfortable areas rather than avoiding them.### 5. Obedience and Application Are Essential She underscored that revelation without application is ineffective. Knowing Scripture is not enough; transformation comes when believers apply it in daily life, allowing the Holy Spirit to convict, guide, and heal. True change is a process, but avoiding the heart work only delays growth and breakthrough.### 6. Healing, Wholeness, and Purpose Cielita explained that biblical salvation (sozo) means more than eternal life—it includes wholeness, healing, restoration, and freedom. Addressing heart issues leads to peace, joy, and the ability to walk in God’s purpose and help others effectively.### 7. Call to Self-Examination She closed by encouraging listeners to ask the Holy Spirit:• What heart issues need to be addressed? • What beliefs or patterns must be removed before growth can occur? • What fears or habits are being avoided rather than confronted? The message concluded with prayer, calling believers to trust God with their hearts, allow His Spirit to transform them, and live as active disciples who reflect Christ in their words and actions.

The love of money is a heart issue. It's called greed. Greed is one of the enemies of our hearts. Very quietly it slips in and begins to guide and direct our decisions. The Bible calls greed sin because it can lead us to push God out of our lives. Greed is dangerous because it blinds us to what is truly important.Main Points:1. The problem with the love of money is that it is never satisfied. When will you have enough? It doesn't matter how much we possess, we still want more. The love of money can motivate any evil on this earth. There is no sin that cannot be committed for the sake of money.2. Jesus identifies the love of money as a heart issue. Here is an important biblical truth: Satisfaction can only be found in Christ. Contentment can only be gained through a relationship with Jesus. Apart from living for Jesus, our hearts wander in search of fulfillment, only to never find it.3. We rid ourselves of greed and materialism when we treasure Jesus above all things. He is our ultimate treasure. When we have Jesus we have everything we need. This is how we guard our hearts against the root of all evil. Today's Scripture Verses:1 Timothy 6:10 - “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” Luke 12:34 - “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”1 Timothy 6:6 – “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

Money has a way of reaching places in our lives that nothing else does. It touches our fears, our desires, our relationships, and our sense of security. That's why Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).Jesus wasn't merely offering financial advice—He was revealing something deeply spiritual. Money issues are rarely just about money. They are heart issues. Our financial lives quietly expose what we trust, what we desire, and what we believe will ultimately take care of us.A Lesson From a Hillside in KenyaYears ago, Ron Blue shared a story that reshaped our understanding of stewardship.Ron was sitting on a hillside in Kenya with a local pastor, overlooking the village below. Curious, Ron asked what he assumed was a practical question: “What is the greatest barrier to the spread of the gospel here?” He expected the answer to be a lack of money, transportation, or resources. The pastor didn't hesitate. “Materialism,” he said.Ron was stunned. Materialism? In a village of mud huts? The pastor explained, “If a man has a mud hut, he wants a stone hut. If he has a thatched roof, he wants a metal one. If he has one cow, he wants two.”In that moment, Ron realized something profound: materialism isn't about how much you have—it's about what your heart longs for. If materialism can thrive in a mud hut just as easily as in an American suburb, then money itself isn't the root problem. The heart is.Money as a MirrorMoney is not moral or immoral. It's a tool. But because it touches nearly every area of our lives, it becomes one of the clearest mirrors of what's happening inside us.When we overspend, it may reveal a longing for identity or approval. When we cling tightly to savings, it may expose where we seek security. When we fall into debt, it may reflect impatience or a desire to live beyond God's provision. When we resist generosity, it may reveal fear that God won't come through. In every case, the dollars are secondary. The heart is primary.God's Invitation to FreedomThe good news is that God cares deeply about the state of our hearts—and He invites us into freedom. Freedom from fear. Freedom from comparison. Freedom from striving. Freedom from the quiet belief that everything depends on us.Over the years of studying Scripture and walking with individuals and families through financial decisions, a few foundational truths have continued to surface.1. God Owns It AllOwnership determines responsibility. If everything belongs to God, we stop clinging to money as if our lives depend on it. Instead, we manage it as stewards—grateful, humble, and free.2. God Is Our ProviderScripture reminds us that God feeds the birds and clothes the lilies—and that we, His children, are worth far more. When we truly believe that, fear begins to loosen its grip.3. Money Is a Tool, Not a TreasureMoney was never meant to carry the weight of our identity or security. It was meant to serve God's purposes—meeting needs, blessing others, advancing the gospel, and reflecting the generosity of the One who gave everything for us.4. Financial Decisions Are Acts of WorshipEvery spending choice, every act of saving, every moment of generosity becomes an opportunity to honor God. When we begin asking, “How can I serve You with this?” money stops being a rival and becomes a means of discipleship.Rediscovering Our Ultimate TreasureThese truths aren't theoretical. They shape every page of our new devotional (coming out next month), Our Ultimate Treasure—a 21-day journey to faithful stewardship. We wrote it to help readers see how deeply biblical principles shape everyday financial decisions. Our prayer is that as people walk through it, they'll experience peace where fear once lived, contentment where comparison once thrived, and generosity where self-protection once dominated.Ultimately, money will reveal what we treasure most. And when Christ is our ultimate treasure, we discover a freedom that no amount of money can ever provide. That freedom isn't found in having more—but in trusting more deeply. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:My wife and I are both over 65 and have a financial planner, CPA, and estate attorney. I received a suspicious-looking notice and didn't click it because I wasn't sure it was a scam.I know many people now take the standard deduction since it's higher, but I've heard that charitable contributions can still be deducted even if you don't itemize. Today, we're discussing the recent controversy surrounding Shiloh Hendrix, who called a black child a racial slur at a playground instead of taking the concern to the child's parents. This behavior is not only unacceptable—it's unchristian. As followers of Christ, we are called to be above reproach (1 Timothy 3:2), especially when dealing with the next generation. God will not judge us by our skin color, so why are we so quick to judge others by theirs? We can simultaneously be aware of the statistics about certain cultures within particular races, and realize that this is not how we handle those problems. We'll explore the biblical approach to conflict resolution. When there's a problem with a child's behavior, the godly route is to speak directly with their parents—not to attack the child. Christians must hold one another accountable. --https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee

“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21When Jesus said those words, He wasn't just giving us a lesson on giving or saving. He was getting to the root of something much deeper: our hearts. At Faith & Finance, we often say that money touches every part of life, but the most important part is our spiritual life. Our financial decisions, priorities, and fears don't just reflect our budgets—they reflect our beliefs, values, and, ultimately, our worship.Let's explore how our money issues are really heart issues—and what that means for how we live and give.More Than Just a ToolMany people see money as a neutral resource—a tool to earn, spend, save, or give. But Scripture reveals that money has much more influence than we realize. It can:Shape our desiresTest our trustReveal what we truly worshipThat's why issues like debt, greed, anxiety, or even generosity aren't primarily financial—they're spiritual. When we overspend to maintain a lifestyle, is it because our identity is tied to our possessions? When we obsess over savings or investments, is it because we trust our bank account more than we trust God? When we hesitate to give, are we being ruled by fear of not having enough? In this way, money becomes a spiritual thermometer—measuring our faith and showing us where our hearts truly rest. The Rich Young Ruler: A Heart ExposedOne of the clearest biblical examples of this dynamic is the story of the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17–22. Eager to inherit eternal life, this man claimed to have kept all the commandments. But Jesus knew his heart.“Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” — Mark 10:21The man walked away, sorrowful. His wealth had a stronger grip on his heart than his desire to follow Jesus. His struggle wasn't with budgeting—it was with idolatry. As John Calvin famously said, “The human heart is an idol factory.” We all have things we cling to—things we're tempted to trust more than God. The rich young ruler's story invites us to ask: What would make us walk away from Jesus? If the answer is money, then our issue isn't financial—it's spiritual. When Money Reveals Fear, Not Just GreedOf course, not everyone struggles with greed. Some struggle with fear. Jesus spoke to this often. In Matthew 6:25–34, Jesus tells us not to worry about food, drink, or clothing. If God cares for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, how much more will He care for His children?Financial anxiety reveals something crucial: a lack of trust in God's provision. When we believe our well-being depends entirely on our ability to earn, save, or invest, we carry a weight God never intended us to bear. This doesn't mean we shouldn't plan wisely—but it does mean that financial stress often signals a deeper spiritual need to trust God's character and promises.Generosity: A Window Into the SoulIf money is a heart issue, then our generosity—or lack of it—speaks volumes. The early church in Acts was known for radical generosity. Believers sold possessions and shared what they had to meet each other's needs. Why? Because the gospel had transformed their hearts. Their giving flowed not from guilt but from grace.C.S. Lewis once wrote,“Every faculty you have…is given you by God. If you devoted every moment of your whole life exclusively to His service, you could not give Him anything that was not in a sense His own already.”True generosity doesn't come from obligation—it comes from a heart that knows everything belongs to God.So ask yourself: Do I see money as mine to control or God's to steward? Do I give joyfully—or do I give reluctantly, out of fear?Transforming Our Financial HeartsSince money problems are ultimately heart problems, the solution goes beyond budgeting tools and interest rates (as helpful as those are). What we need most is heart transformation. Here are four truths to guide your financial discipleship:1. Recognize That Money Is a Test of TrustDo you really believe God will provide? If not, fear will drive your financial choices more than faith.2. Practice GratitudeDiscontentment fuels anxiety, but gratitude shifts our focus to what God has already given.3. Give GenerouslyGiving breaks the power of money over your heart. It's a spiritual exercise that redirects your trust toward God.4. Seek First the KingdomJesus promised that if we seek God's kingdom first, all these things—our needs—will be provided (Matthew 6:33). Prioritize Him, and let peace replace worry. What Do You Treasure Most?In the end, how we handle money reveals what we treasure. May we be people who treasure Christ above all—because only then will our hearts be truly free.Let's make sure our treasure—and our trust—are in the right place. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I retired in 2021 with a good income and 401(k), but now I've depleted my debt, and I'm struggling to pay bills.
