Welcome to “Welcome to the Sacred Space,” the inaugural episode of The Sacred Sunflower Podcast with host Sophia Antoine. In this warm and personal introduction, Sophia opens the doors to a supportive sanctuary designed for honest self-expression, respectful conversation, and communal growth. She shares her background as a doula, life coach, and caretaker, reflecting on experiences that have shaped her nurturing approach—such as her husband's kidney transplant journey and her work assisting others through pregnancy and birth.Sophia emphasizes that this podcast is not about perfection; rather, it's about progress, vulnerability, and genuine connection. She invites listeners to lean into meaningful dialogue on topics ranging from trending birth-world news to everyday mental and emotional well-being. Journaling, healthy boundary-setting, and practical self-care tools are cornerstones of her approach, and she promises to provide worksheets and resources to help listeners put these practices into action.Above all, this inaugural episode establishes a kind, loving, and inclusive atmosphere where anyone can find support and understanding. By sharing her story and personal reflections, Sophia hopes to foster a sense of community, inspire open-minded conversations, and remind listeners that we're all on this journey together.

    Making Work Meaningful

I wanted to create show notes for this episode that would do it justice, but I couldn't. I have struggled with what to say since we recorded the interview. Finally, I decided that this is an episode that cannot be explained. It's sort of like the one we recorded years ago called Lies about Self Care. You can listen to it HERE. Dionne Thomas is the owner of The Ziva Group. She is an online business manager and a virtual assistant. When she isn't providing world-class service to her clients, Dionne is taking care of her ranch and the animals that live there. The bulk of our conversation was centered around her social justice work; how her business supports companies that are in the social justice space. I believe that is why this episode is so hard to explain. When injustices happen, it takes so much to wrap your mind around them. It's even more difficult to explain them to someone else and expect them to grasp the gravity of the situation exactly as you do. As a black woman that's married to a white man, she gets it. Please listen to this episode with an open mind. It is our hope that you come away wanting more. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/authenticwellnesspod/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/authenticwellnesspod/support

It also seemed to say the men in their lives or at least one men who got them pregnant don't play a role in caring for the family. I am thankful to Dionne Thomas, Elle Chanel, and Necie Black for joining me for this courageous conversation. I have a deep respect for them and their stories had me in awe.
