Abstract: Interaural Time Difference (ITD) is the main cue for azimuthal auditory perception in humans. ITDs at each frequency contribute differently to azimuth discrimination, which can be quantified by their azimuthal Fisher Information. Consistently, human ITD discrimination thresholds are predicted by the azimuthal information. However, this prediction is poor for frequencies below 500 Hz. Such poor prediction could be ascribed to the strategy of quantifying azimuthal information using HRTFs obtained in unnaturalistic anechoic chambers or by using a direct method which does not incorporate the delay lines proposed by the Jeffress-Colburn model. In the present study, we obtained ITD discrimination thresholds from extensive sampling across frequency and ITD, and applied multiple strategies for quantifying azimuthal information. These strategies employed HRTFs obtained in realistic and anechoic chambers, with and without considering delay lines. We found that ITD discriminability thresholds across the complete range of frequencies are better predicted by azimuthal information conveyed by ITD cues when (1) we use naturalistic high-noise HRTFs, and (2) ITD delay compensation is not applied. Our results support that auditory perception is shaped by natural environments, which include high reverberation in low frequencies. Moreover, we also suggest that delay lines are not a crucial feature for determining ITD discrimination thresholds in the human auditory system. Copy rights belong to original authors. In some instances, it may be a mistake to assume we understand what normal conditions are. Recovery has two definitions that I am particularly interested in. first is a " return to a normal or healthy condition." The second is " the act of obtaining usable substances from unusable sources.
Dr. Ana-Maria Temple is a holistic pediatrician, best-selling author, mother of 3, and award-winning speaker. In this episode, she shares what eczema is and how to prevent and cure it. She also speaks about the dangers of mold toxicity and how to start the process of food elimination. Just when we think we know about the boundaries of ADHD, we get reminded that it can expand to other different types of illnesses in the body. Skin health is just as important as brain and gut health because our skin is an external reflection of our inner body. Healing the skin starts with healing the gut and the brain. Tune in to find out more about eczema and find ways to fight and prevent it! Key Takeaways: [3:38] What eczema is and how it is correlated with ADHD [6:33] Prescribed medicine for eczema [12:35] Quebec Ice Storm study [14:40] The condition of the skin is a reflection of the condition of the gut [22:24] Detrimental effects of mold on the skin and lungs [28:28] There is no simple solution to curing eczema How To Connect With Dr. Temple: Website: https://www.dranamaria.com/ All socials: Dr. Ana Maria Temple Memorable Quotes: “Eczema is usually red, patchy… it looks like flame, it looks like red hot lava (I'm a pediatrician, so I talk in kid terminology). A lot of times in babies, we'll see their cheeks be red hot lava… eczema is when those red cheeks don't go away and they get worse and worse.” “Now we're eating strawberries and now the red cheeks are flaring even more, now we're eating bananas and avocado (and I'm not beating up on food, I'm just giving examples). And then all of a sudden, the redness from the cheeks is now red hot lava neck.” “We have kids that have dry skin but it's not just dry skin. It's dry skin and then they sit and they scratch and they dig and they have trouble sleeping at night and they're crying throughout the day. It seems whatever they eat, they flare up. They go outside, they flare up.” “I get very weary because a lot of the prescribed medications are topical steroids, oral antibiotics, and of course, the latest and greatest, Dupixent - and I say that with a lot of sarcasm.” “Modern medicine does work for some people but we're talking ‘some people,' and turning it into all people… we do not have this much data on this medication; we do not know the long-term effects of Dupixent.” “What a lot of people don't know is that the medications that are linked to the increased appearance of eczema is actually Tylenol. We give babies Tylenol and it's no big deal… Teething is overly diagnosed by the parents because they want to put a name to the fussiness. And then they're like, ‘Let me give them Tylenol.' Tylenol is sugar and food dyes.” “They took the pregnant ladies that were displaced in the ice storm and these mamas had to live with cousins and uncles… and they compared these moms to other pregnant moms in Canada. They followed them around for 15 years and they looked to see what was the endpoint? Did anything happen to their children? And they saw an increase in ADHD, neurological developmental issues, delay in neurocognitive function, speech delays, verbal delays, autism, eczema, asthma, diabetes, and cancer.” “Without healing the gut, paying attention to what's in your child's diet, in your own diet if you're nursing, it is very difficult to cure the skin with just a cream.” “I'm not saying no to processed foods. It's how much are you really having and then we're going to turn those around and read the ingredients. If you can't read it, don't eat it.” Dana Kay Resources: Website - https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/adhdthriveinstitute Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/adhdthriveinstitute/ YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/ADHDThriveInstitute LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/74302454/ Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/adhdthriveinstitute/ Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@adhd_thriveinstitute International Best Selling Book, Thriving with ADHD - https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/book/ Free Reduce ADHD Symptoms Naturally Masterclass - https://adhdthrivemethod.com/masterclass-rego-page ADHD Parenting Course - https://adhdthrivemethod.com/adhd-thrive-jump-start-parenting-4-adhd ADHD Thrive Method 4 Kids Program - https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/packages/
The Good, Better, and Best of Recovery. Management, Elimination, and Prevention represent the three primary goals of a recovery outcome. While considering each a victory of sorts, elevating Prevention in our collective mindset would be the most significant victory in the Recovery community.
God creates us for relationships. But not all relationships are good for us. Some of them are detrimental to our spiritual lives and can harm us or make us ineffective and unproductive. Ironically, the detrimental relationships that the Bible warns us about are not with regard to unbelievers or the people in the world. Security provides the basis to obtain a clearly planned objective in a military operation. In the Recovery process, security begins as an act of faith that develops into a life-saving skill. The helping professionals and the support network must understand that the flow of information and healing is directly proportional to how the client and/or loved one reveals their pain and moves toward Recovery.
On today's episode, we have a powerful conversation with Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, Laura Sextro, and special cohost, the brave teenager behind Teens Against Mandates, a medical freedom Instagram page helping teens make informed decisions (teens.against.mandates2). Some of the subjects covered in the episode include the recent bills (Bill 866 and Bill AB2098) proposed in the California State Senate, as well as their potential implications on minor consent and criminalizing doctors who spread “misinformation” about the Covid protocols. In addition, they discuss the struggles many teens have experienced by avoiding vaccination such as college mandates, navigating peer pressure, and challenges in pursuing a medical career as a young adult. Along with the associated social difficulties, they talk about the vaccine's safety profile as it relates to fertility and reproductive health, an issue many young adults care about. In a military objective, the unity and cohesion of command are crucial. In Recovery, we need multiple commanders with a faithful and united effort to achieve a necessary goal. The current structure of treatment fixes the fundamental issue. The recovery chain consists of the client, the support group, and the helping professionals. The end goal should be to reduce the helping professional's ego, increase the client's esteem, and reduce the support group's confusion.
In the Art of War, Maneuvering is the deliberate movement of forces against the enemy to gain an advantage. In the Art of Recovery, maneuvering your attributes is to preserve freedom of action and demonstrate your initiative.

As in War, We must know who we are, what we do well, and how to maximize those attributes to create as much force needed to win Recovery. This enemy does not respond to brute force but to continual realization and adjustment.
To recover is to identify, keep, and exploit your initiative. Going on the offense is the only authentic way to reach a clearly defined transformation. Being aggressive requires disruption. You must attack norms and firmly establish your desired endpoint.
Incentives can improve motivation. But what actually happens when the incentive is removed? An influential body of research previously suggested that extrinsic rewards have a negative impact on intrinsic motivation. However, more recent studies show this not to be the case over the long term. Our guest, Dr Indranil Goswami PhD, talks us through the longer term effects of temporary incentives and the implications for motivating behavior change. Indranil is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University at Buffalo. The research that we focus on in this episode is the paper he co-wrote with Dr Oleg Urminsky PhD, called “The Dynamic Effect of Incentives on Post-Reward Task Engagement”. While there may be a dose of confirmation bias with this conversation, Kurt and Tim are excited to hear more about Indranil's research which backs up what they have been telling companies for years: “Incentives are useful for improving people's behavior, engagement and performance.” Managers, academics and even parents have bought into the widely held belief that extrinsic motivators are not a useful tool for initiating behavior change. But Indranil's work may help you reevaluate the tools you use to motivate those around you. Listen in and let us know if it encourages you to rethink your incentive program. I also found hope that we could get out of this downward spiral we kept finding ourselves in.Plus, I found out that I could be okay — even if things weren't going the way I wanted them to.In this episode, we'll share our personal story of relational dysfunction and some of the first steps it took to move beyond our debilitating, unhealthy patterns. You'll Discover:How good intentions can unintentionally become dysfunctional — and unhelpfulWhy it's easy for blended family couples to slide into codependency traps with each other, with the kids or even with former spousesPractical steps to breaking free from unhealthy relational patterns Resources from this Episode:Resources from Melody Beattie Episode 108 - 3 Unity Breakers that are Detrimental to Your Connection and How You Can Avoid ThemEpisode 98 - Is Fear of Being Vulnerable Keeping You From Loving Your Spouse Wholeheartedly?Episode 98 - 4 Simple Principles for Setting Healthy Boundaries with KidsEpisode 61 - How to Partner Well as a Stepparent…Even if You Feel Stuck on the Outside (Part 1)Episode 59 - Why Are You Stuck in a Parent-Child Allegiance (Part 1)Episode 30 - Should Stepparents WANT Authority with their Step-Kids?Episode 27 - How to Set Clear Boundaries and Safeguard RelationshipsEpisode 14 - 3 Helpful Steps to Overcome Your "Perfectionistic" Ideals and DisappointmentsArticles from Stepmom Laura Petherbridge:Why Can't I Say - NO?
