The end of the 2015 season came with a fizzle instead of a bang for the Dallas-area, shutout for the first time since 2010. Argyle replicated its heartbreaking 2014 loss with another one, falling in the final seconds to Waco LaVega. Frisco Lone Star’s struggled against a stout Cedar Park defense. And key injuries scuttled Celina and Mansfield Lake Ridge hopes. Attendance was significantly down at Houston’s NRG Stadium. Does that mean AT&T Stadium is the venue next year and in years to come?
Allen loses to Austin Westlake breaking a 57 game win streak. Aledo gets beat by Mansfield Lakeridge buts leave Lakeridge with a few key injuries. Frisco Lone Star won out over Lake Dallas in a crazy, three OT game. Celina and Argyle both advance keeping hopes for a 4A DFW sweep alive.
The final four of the UIL football playoffs are upon us. Matt, Avi, Rhiannon and Corbett break down the regional finals and TAPPS championships, with two Dallas-area titlists crowned and potentially six more to come. Allen adds to its winning streak by handling Denton Ryan, Mansfield Lake Ridge survives against Longview and Frisco Lone Star continues its run with a big win over Lancaster. We break down each of the area's semifinalists, plus talk to Austin American-Statesman reporter Danny Davis about Austin Westlake and Lake Travis.
Allen continues to win, dominating Arlington Martin and setting up a game of unbeatens with Denton Ryan. Frisco Lone Star and Mansfield Lake Ridge both put together complete performances in the regional semis. Around a dozen teams left from the Dallas area are still playing, and we’ll have previews of their games, and a discussion about possible player of the year candidates.
After a great first round of the UIL playoffs, the area round came through with a handful of classics, such as Allen/DeSoto Part 4, an OT thriller between Lovejoy and Terrell, and an unbelievable ending between Grapevine Faith Christian and Parish Episcopal.
