Janine Lynn Johnson from South Grand Prairie and Steven Glenn Taylor from McKinney, Tx end up starting a life together in the small Ellis County town of Ferris, Tx. A quiet little town next to Dallas County and near Interstate 45. Janine had a son at age 17 and married the father the next year in 1997. Unfortunately, they would divorce in 1998. By the age of 28 Janine would marry and divorce 3 more times. Janine was a caring person and kept in touch with all her ex-husbands. Then, she met Steven Glenn Taylor. Steven originally from McKinney, Tx had lived in Lancaster, Tx for a while then moved south to Ferris. I am told He established himself in the community and was there before Janine. Janine moved in with Steven on South Church street where Janine finally got some stability in her life. Her son said she actually had Christmas at their house in 2008 where she hosted for the first time. Her son said he could tell she was happy. In late March of 2009 Janine and Steven had been part of a softball tournament. They played a game then were suppose to come back the next day for a second game. They never showed up. Steven's brother, Robert, became worried with no answering of phone calls and goes to their house at South Church street in Ferris. Family and friends can not get Steve or Janine's attention at the house and the doors are locked. Both of their vehicles are parked at the house. Ferris Pd are summoned and entry is made into the house to find ,in the words of JOP Jackie Miller Jr, “The most gruesome murder scene.” Evidence in the murders boggles the mind. Pulled up on Mr. Slick Back Jack himself Jason Reyes. Owner of Slick Back Jacks Precision Barbers, 1700 W Polo Rd Suite #112, Grand Prairie, TX 75052, in the Legendary Trailwood in deep South Grand Prairie, Souther then South Grand Prairie HS. The most hood you would get being down that way Independence Tr. still holding it down as the hoodest, yes hoodest, street I ever been apart of. I grew up there and Jason made his name in Trailwood. I promise bc in middle school we would ask eachother as Mexicans, where'd you get your fade at... and that moment in time changed the game of fades, tapers and edge ups for fine haired folks, which was a new thing in the hood bc we never had Barbers who took pride in their fades, tapers or edge ups for us, just Black homies who I was Crippin with would have and brag about their Fades, Tapers and Edge Ups. I knew it was a big deal but never thought Id have to compete with that... until Jason and his generation of Barbers. Changed the entire game for us fine or straight haired folk, to have pride in our hair styles as our Black homies. I learned alot on this Podcast. I Hope you enjoy this podcast as much as i did. I loved it!

Star Local Media sports editor Matt Welch recaps three days worth of playoff baseball and softball coverage, including the bi-district series between Allen and Trophy Club Byron Nelson, Plano Senior and Southlake Carroll, and the area-round playoff between Plano softball and South Grand Prairie.
Star Local Media is back with another edition of the Gridiron Podcast to reflect on a wild, upset-heavy weekend in the high school football playoffs. The staff dives into the chaos in Class 6A (0:50), Sachse surviving Rockwall (2:58), Allen withstanding a game South Grand Prairie team (7:30), why Round Two can be so challenging in DFW (13:00) and takeaways from Saturday night’s Class 5A slate at AT&T Stadium featuring Lake Dallas-North Forney (17:20) and Frisco Lone Star-Lovejoy (23:10). In Part Two, the staff previews a few of our markets’ marquee regional semifinalists, including Prosper’s recent surge (33:10), Celina rounding into playoff form (35:30), Coppell as a possible Region II favorite (37:00), and what Allen can expect in Friday’s matchup with Arlington Martin (40:15).
Star Local Media sports editor Matt Welch recaps Allen's 28-14 area playoff win over South Grand Prairie.
The Star Local Media sports staff reflects on some of the notable bi-district playoff games in their markets and looks ahead at a few key area-round playoff games later this week. In Part One, Tim Glaze and Bryan Murphy tackle the revenge of District 14-5A over Frisco ISD, examining Lake Dallas’ upset win over Reedy (1:30), Prosper avenging last year’s loss to Wakeland (9:40) and McKinney North’s improvements over Frisco Centennial (14:05). Matt Welch chimes in on the local Class 6A bi-district action, highlighted by Plano Senior’s thrilling overtime loss to Euless Trinity (19:10). In Part Two, Devin Hasson previews a somewhat unexpected second-round matchup between Sachse and Rockwall (26:37), he and Justin Thomas trade thoughts on Coppell vs. Mesquite Horn (33:40) and Matt Welch offers an early glimpse of what Allen can expect from South Grand Prairie (39:28).
Southlake Carroll got home field advantage, and sent two-time defending state champs Cedar Hill packing, the game sealed with a bad snap. Fellow champion Ennis lost, too, in the first round, and Euless Trinity – a team everyone expected to challenge Allen in the 6A Division I Region I final – was sent home early after a gutsy performance by South Grand Prairie. The podcast goes over the brackets, previews this week's big games (FM Marcus/Mansfield, anyone?) and interviews SGP coach Brent Whitson.
