What is confirmation bias and how does it color our worldview and expectations? What colors the lenses we see the world with? If we shift those lenses slightly—like tilting a kaleidoscope—can we see the world with new insight? Yaz and Rebekah use active listening and critical thinking skills to bridge the gap between differing perspectives, combating cancel culture with real talk about really tough topics. Don’t miss their colorful conversation where no holds are barred and no topic is taboo.

Tune in to hear (as Yaz would say) all the juicy details.

Relationship Series Pt. 2- Self Joe Rogan said recently on the Breaking Points with Krystal and Saagar podcast, “The more you take care of your own bullshit, the less you're going to worry about other people's bullshit. And the more you can enjoy things that you're actually interested in. As opposed to spending time cultivating negativity which is so intoxicating. It's so easy for people to get caught up in this artificial drama, ya know?” Taking care of our own “stuff” can be hard when we are so focused on what everyone around us is doing. It takes a lot of focus and intentionality to let the noise of the world quiet down long enough to hear what we are actually thinking. But it's essential. Because think about it, how much of the world would be in a better place if everyone put their energy into being the best version of themselves instead of being so focused on what everyone else is doing wrong. Despite it being difficult, our own Yaz has been through a year of massive personal growth. Join us today as Rebekah interviews Yaz on her personal journey this past year. Vulnerability is scary but it's also powerful. This is a powerful talk. We hope you are inspired to do some inner work, yourself.  Stay tuned for our next episode where we turn the tables and Yaz interviews Rebekah. Relationship series - Part 1 - Yourself Aristotle said, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” As we start this series on relationships, we thought the first place to start would be our relationship with ourself. How do you embark on the journey to know yourself better? Some will look to faith, some will look to personality profiles, some will look to psychology and some will start with the philosophers of old. But any way about it, learning more about who you really are and what makes you tick will only bring clarity to the other relationships in your life.  In today's episode, we talk about some of the most popular personality typing systems as well as a dive into what may be more fringe sources of information like horoscopes and physics.  So how do you begin the journey of knowing yourself better? Reach out on our socials and let us know if you have a great story!  Resources: Rebekah's website has a section on personality typing systems. This week, Yaz and Rebekah are talking about the claims that voter laws being enacted are voter suppression. But that’s just the jumping off point. Their discussion certainly isn’t one where they agree much of the time. But in the end, they agree on what success looks like and bounce some ideas off each other on how to get there.  The Success Sequence, originally from a study done by Brookings Scholars, Ron Haskins and Isabel Sawhill, is discussed in this episode. Yaz and Rebekah aren’t saying that it is a foolproof method for everyone but that it has a lot of merit and should be considered. Below you’ll find some articles that discuss this idea as well as the updated Success Sequence for Millennials: https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-sequence-is-the-secret-to-success-1522189894 (Success Sequence Opinion Piece, WSJ ) IFS (Institute for Family Studies): What Does the Success Sequence Mean? https://firstthings.org/the-millennial-success-sequence/ (Millennial Success Sequence) Rebekah quotes from an Eli Steele article. Move in.” We mentioned the Heineken ad from a few years back that illustrated that concept beautifully. It’s absolutely worth a few minutes of your time to watch.  1. Welcome to Season 2! We are so glad you’re back with us. This season (2021) we will be doing a few new things: First, we are not going to be aiming for a specific length with each episode. One of the unique benefits of podcasts is that it’s long format...you don’t just get sound bites but instead, you get to hear hosts and/or guests really delve into a topic. With that in mind, we are just letting each episode go for the amount of time that the conversation takes. Feel free to break it up over several days. Second, we will be working toward adding a YouTube channel to allow you to watch the podcast if you prefer that to just listening. We won’t have that up and running for a bit but it’s coming! Third, We will be adding guests to the line up in the second half of our 2021 season. If you have any suggestions for a guest you’d like to hear us interview, please contact us at yazandrebekah@gmail.com! Now on to today’s episode. This episode was filmed while we were being interviewed for a news story so we focused on current events such as the George Floyd/Derek Chauvin case currently being tried. In addition we talk about why Rebekah is angry and willing to show it and what gets Yaz angry as well. Often times we can find what we’re passionate about by taking a look at what makes us angry.  After a four month break for holidays and Yaz’s move to NC, we are so thrilled to be back on our microphones talking about all the things. Thanks for joining us and please Subscribe, Rate & Share!  ~Yaz & Rebekah
