We last recorded in between trades, but we break down the Yaz and Doval trades from last week. All in all, the Giants received eight players for the three they traded away, and with Yaz and Rogers being free agents of the end of the year, it made sense to exchange rentals for potential future talent. But, it is weird seeing Yaz in Royal Blue, Rogers in the throwback Mets unis, and Doval in Yankee grey. Posey also played with all three, and he admitted it was tough making that phone call to his former teammates. As far as their performance on the field, they followed up a horrible 0-6 homestand with a 4-2 road record against the same Mets and Pirates. With the focus on the future seasons, no one is holding their breath that the Giants will make a run at the wildcard, a position they solidly held for the entire season until a few weeks ago. That said, it will be a good opportunity to showcase new blood in the majors and minors. Bryce Eldridge is HOT in Sacramento, blasting four bombs in his last three games, but Posey said they aren't rushing him up. And...the first female umpire in MLB history will be working the plate during the second game of a double header this Sunday in Atlanta. It's crazy that this hasn't happened sooner, especially with female officials in the NBA and NFL. We also ponder what happened to LaMonte Wade Jr's ability to hit a baseball, as he was released by the Angels over the weekend. Late night LaMonte might have had his last day in the majors.www.torturecast.com@torturecastfacebook.com/torturecast

We tend to think of cycles in a negative light, like the cycles of abuse or the cycles of complacency. But there are also good cycles that can lead to even better outcomes than the ones you have now. Once you make a positive change in your life and stick with it, you create a new cycle that's in alignment with what you want. The more you bet on yourself, the more results you'll see and the more motivation you'll have to show up for yourself. This is exactly what happened to this week's guest, and we're going to share her story with you on the Chingona Revolution Podcast. Jazmin's name is pronounced "Yahsz-meen,” and she goes by Yaz. She was born & raised to Mexican immigrant parents, in Chicago's Gage Park neighborhood, and has a deep commitment to social, economic, & racial justice for BIPOC communities. She works in data & evaluations at a nonprofit that prioritizes the organizational health and sustainability of small Black and Latinx-led organizations. She values mobilizing others to embrace their holistic selves & take action towards more aligned and empowering changes. She loves all things health & wellness, and inspiring others to explore their version of that for themselves. She creates social media content about her health and wellness journey, which currently includes yoga, caretaking of her 75+ plants, strength training, salsa dancing, getting out of her comfort zone, meeting new people, testing out simple and healthy food recipes, and connecting with other community-centered content creators in the city. In this week's episode, we're talking to Jazmin Campo about how she went from perfectionism to purpose-driven. Through the Courage Driven Latina program, Jazmin was able to use the “Ghetto First Draft” to take messy action and launch her dream business. She knew she had to break the cycle of perfectionism to achieve her dreams. But she couldn't do it if her perfectionism was going to keep getting in her way. With some coaching and commitment, Jaz has accomplished her goals and is on her way to setting new ones. Listen to Jaz's episode to hear how she broke the cycle and started a brand new one.
In the summer of '75 it was becoming clear that something special was happening in Boston. A rookie centerfielder was having a season for the ages. Fred Lynn would lead the Sox to the pennant behind one of the greatest, if not THE greatest rookie season in baseball history. The first year sensation would become the first player to win Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season. It culminated in a World Series that 50 years later is considered to be one of the all-time classics with the Sox and the Reds providing thrill after thrill that saw reach a 7th game after Carlton Fisk's legendary home run over the Monster and off the Pole in left to win Game 6. It was widely considered the sports story of the year with future Hall of Fame players throughout both rosters. The star power of Rose, Rice, Yaz, Morgan, Fisk and Perez along with Tiant, Lynn, Concepcion, Foster, and Griffey was off the charts… and the Big Red Machine finally prevailed in that game 7 to win the Series. That was one to remember… the other big story was one we'd like to forget… The Match Race between Foolish Pleasure and the great filly, Ruffian was the talk of the horse racing world and the excitement at Belmont Park was similar to when Secretariat was going for the triple crown at the same track two years earlier… After a blistering 1/4 mile, Ruffian had just taken the lead by a neck over the Kentucky Derby winner… in fact, that first 1/2 mile was the only time in Ruffians career she ever trailed in a race… she was running with the boys and holding her own… when she suffered a catastrophic leg injury breaking two bones in her right leg. The great horse continued to run for a bit even on the broken leg as her jockey Jacinto Vasquez tried to bring her to a stop. The jubilant atmosphere came to a sudden stop at the race track and nationwide as the TV audience realized what had just taken place… there was no way to describe it, yet that was the job of Dave Johnson, the track announcer at Belmont… Even he was at a loss for words as the ambulance made its way on to the track to tend to the fallen horse… she would be carted away, and after multiple attempts to save her, the great Ruffian was finally put to rest. Johnson was off the next two days, but when he returned to work on Wednesday he said there was one word that described everything… “Crying” Everyone was crying. Writers, trainers, guys in the stall… women in the offices… everywhere you went, people were at a loss… In a career that would span over 50 years, it was as tough a day as Johnson can recall. Now 84, the legendary Horse Racing announcer is still as energetic and exuberant when it comes to the sport he loves. On the Past Our Prime podcast, Johnson shares inside details on that horrific July day when Ruffian rode for the final fatal time… He talks about how the atmosphere at the track was electric and how he thought Ruffian would remain undefeated after beating Foolish Pleasure… but it didn't happen the way anybody thought it would. Johnson also reflects on the recent passing of his good friend, D. Wayne Lukas and gives personal insights to what made him such a great trainer… and an even better person. The legendary trainer was 89 years old when he died June 28th… just 16 days after the final horse he trained won a race… Johnson claims his work ethic was second to none and that Lukas was everything that was good about the sport. “And down the stretch they come!!!”… A legendary call from a legendary broadcaster talking about a legendary horse and a legendary trainer… sounds like a legendary show… and it is… The Past Our Prime podcast with Dave Johnson… listen wherever you get your podcasts. Metne göre, Bitcoin'in özü insanlardır. Bitcoin'in temelinde bir etik yatar: "Çalmayacaksın." Ve bir sayı: "21 milyon". Bitcoin'in etiği (sabit arz, zorla yeniden dağıtım yok) fiat paranın etiğiyle (sonsuz arz, merkezi planlama, kayırmacılık) keskin bir zıtlık içindedir. Kaynak

In a truly stunning, out-of-left-field event, the Giants traded for slugger Rafael Devers. It really did come out of nowhere, but it's genesis was the discontent that was brewing in Boston after Devers was not being treated like a franchise player, being promised third base, only to have Alex Bregman usurp it. The Giants gave up relatively little as a price for securing Devers for the next 8 1/2 years. This was not a rental, and often 2 month rentals end up costing teams a LOT more than what the Giants gave up. All told, the Giants traded away Kyle Harrison, Jordan Hicks, and two prospects. Even the AAV for Devers is under what the market would bear now and certainly what it will bear in several years. Devers is in the prime of his career at age 28. Buster Posey made this happen, and he is the man right now. Eric, Willie, and Chad discuss this blockbuster and can't find a comp to it in recent Giants history. We are all excited, but if the Giants would just actually perform on the field. After briefly tying the Dodgers for first place in the NL West over the weekend, they have lost 4 in a row and 5 of 6 overall. Let's hope they snap out of it with the help of their new shiny star.@torturecastfacebook.com/torturecasttorturecast.com

Send us a textWe're back and breaking down Season 2, Episode 7 of Industry: “Lone Wolf and Cub.” This one is dense with real finance concepts—starting with Harper, Eric, and Rishi's attempt to “hit a bid away” and pitch themselves as a ready-made desk to rival firms. We get into how traders actually get paid, why comp guarantees are risky, and what it means to bring “client color” as your leverage in a job switch. Plus: why Rishi's pitch as a prop-style trader who embraces client flow is more old school than it sounds—and why that still matters. We also break down how sales and trading teams actually work, the dynamics of headhunter-driven moves versus warm intros, and the very real consequences of interviewing without an offer in hand. For anyone trying to understand what's real and what's dramatized when it comes to switching firms, negotiating comp, and building leverage on the Street, this episode is basically a case study. On the character side, we unpack the growing tension between Robert, Nicole, and Venetia—and how the firm (and culture) handles client misconduct. Plus, Yaz is clearly in deeper than she realizes, and Daria pulls off what might be the best power play of the series. We wrap with our take on who's up, who's down, and what this episode gets right (and wrong) about how finance careers really work.Sign up for our Excel and Financial Modeling Masterclass May 29 at 12pm HERE (or if you're still in the 48 hour window, register to access the replay!)Shop the MAY SALE:- Buy the FULL IBD / PE course for 20% off HERE- M&A Standalone Course $50 OFF HERE Enroll in the Financial Modeling Talent Accelerator HERE Join the Fixed Income Sales and Trading waitlist HERE Our content is for informational purposes only.
