In this episode of AUHSD Future Talks, Superintendent Matsuda interviews Anaheim High School's Dance Director, Oscar Gonzalez. Oscar Gonzalez was born & raised in Orange County, California. He was a student of AUHSD, Patrick Henry, Sycamore and Anaheim High School. Oscar trained at the Anaheim Ballet School, American Ballet Theater & the Joffrey Ballet School. Gonzalez was a soloist with the Anaheim Ballet, Festival Ballet, and was a resident company member & instructor for Diavolo. Oscar travels around the world to educate & inspire artists. He has successfully trained dozens of dancers that have been accepted into college dance programs. He was last seen in Aladdin “A Musical Spectacular” at the Disney resort. Oscar has performed in professional musical theater productions such as, Hello Dolly, WestSide Story, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, A Chorus Line, Evita & has been a principal in The Glory of Christmas at the Crystal Cathedral. Oscar performed for the grand opening of the King Abdulah University of Science and Technology in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Oscar was 1 of 6 educators chosen by former ABT dancer Kristine Elliott to create and teach a 2-week dance intensive in Capetown, South Africa. Gonzalez was formerly the ballet director at McCoy Rigby Conservatory of the Arts, under the direction of Broadway star & former Olympic athlete Cathy Rigby. Gonzalez recently returned from living in Nebraska for three year to help create & develop the ballet program for Smitty’s Performing Arts Center. Oscar recently received his Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts, from St. Mary's College of California, & is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Education. Oscar has taught many workshops to dance educators in California to help spread his knowledge of dance & teaching techniques, California Dance & Movement for Dance Educators at Chapman University, & CAHPERD for dance & PE teachers. Oscar has been teaching for over 15 years and is committed to educating & inspiring young dancers & pushing them to their fullest potentials. Oscar has recently moved back to California to become the dance director at Anaheim High School, his Alma Mater.

Dylan White joins Paul and Kevin this week.Dylan has been professionally creative for almost thirty years. He is an actor, comedian, voiceover artist, screenwriter, and author. Most notably, for over ten years, he played The Genie in Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular at Disney California Adventure. As an author, he is most known for his Apparition Series about a ghost who falls in love with the girl who lives in the house he's haunting. Dylan is also an advocate for mental health awareness and openness. In the meantime please enjoy a pre-recording of Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular. Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular was a musical show with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, at Disney California Adventure. Inspired by Disney's 1992 animated film, the show premiered on January 16, 2003, and played inside the Hyperion Theater in Hollywood Land. The venue is located next to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.In September 2015, it was announced that the show's final day of operation would be January 10, 2016. The show was then closed on January 11, to be replaced by a Frozen-inspired musical stage show. The 45 minute production took place in the 2,000 seat Hyperion Theater, located at the end of Hollywood Blvd.The production was a Broadway-type show. Many of the classic scenes and songs from the movie were re-created on stage and some of the action spilled out into the aisles, like Prince Ali's arrival in Agrabah on elephant back. Alan Menken composed and wrote lyrics for a new song for the production, called To Be Free. While much of the show was scripted, the dialogue of the Genie constantly changed to reflect current events in popular culture and the news. The music was orchestrated and arranged by Timothy Williams (composer) and produced by Bruce Healey, and Audio By The Bay (Paul Freeman, Bob Wackerman).In spring 2010 it was initially announced that Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular would close and be replaced by Toy Story: The Musical, similar to the version on the Disney Cruise Line. However, later that year it announced that the plans were cancelled and that the Aladdin musical would remain for the time being. In September 2015 it was announced that the show's final day of operation would be January 10, 2016. The show was then closed on January 11, to be replaced by a Frozen-inspired musical stage show.
