De-culting is a very important skill that I hope to help people with, God help me. lolI was in several cults myself, and I'm sure you have been at one time or another too. Whether they were in the spiritual, health, or other arenas everyone's life has been particularly touched by cult culture. It requires a special sauce to extricate from a cult, and we will unpack what that is. I'm counting on the chat to share their cult experiences, and I'm thinking this might turn into a series since a deep dive into some of the cults in particular would be useful. We will talk about the scale of cults, the harm participation in them brings, and look at the solutions in the same place I always find them.PS Because I name the episodes of BoFA with verbs I had to invent a word, “de-cult”. Here's what AI says the meaning of it is. It gets me, which I know is not necessarily a good thing. LOLFrom AI:“The term "de-cult" is not a standard or widely recognized word in English. However, based on the context provided, it may be interpreted as a conceptual opposite of "cult," potentially referring to the process of disengaging from or dismantling a group or movement characterized by intense devotion, isolation, and control.” ***Discover deprogramming and archetype courses at www.bethmartens.comApply for a zero-cost, one-on-one chat about working together: https://www.bethmartens.com/awaken-your-journey-archetype-applicationFind out your King Hero Archetype in ten minutes: https://www.bethmartens.com/king-hero-archetype-quiz-sign-upTake my starter course: Deprogramming 101: https://www.bethmartens.com/deprogramming101***MORE FROM BETHSign up to take a 5-minute King Hero's Journey archetype quizApply to become a member of the House of Free WillRumbleKing Hero Telegram ChannelTwitter (X)InstagramSign up for a Hero's Journey Archetype ReadingOrder a copy of my book, ‘Journey: A Map of Archetypes to Find Lost Purpose in a Sea of Meaninglessness'Donate by PayPal if you're inspiredFollow the King Hero's Journey Podcast on... In this special episode, Alex Whitton and Alex Swallow take the reins to interview Robbie about the release of his new book, The Power to Choose: Finding Calm and Connection in a Complex World. What unfolds is a warm, honest and surprisingly vulnerable exploration of choice, mindset, relationships, and the inner work that helps us meet complexity with more skill and less fear.Across the conversation, Robbie shares the nine-year journey behind the book - from a powerful coaching question asked by Joel Monk in 2016 through to the resistance, the rewrites, and the emotional cost of releasing something deeply personal into the world.Together, the three of them explore themes at the heart of both the book and coaching itself. In this episode they explore:Why in almost every moment, there's more choice available than we think. The idea of the Higher Self - and why we all have moments where we forget it.How curiosity becomes an antidote to reactivity and contraction. What really happens when we assume others are doing their best. Why connection and calm matter so much in a complex world. How writing a book becomes its own developmental journey. The castle metaphor for working with shadow parts of ourselves. The stories that shape us - and the ones we get to rewrite. Why none of this work is ever really finished.Robbie also shares two stories that bring these ideas to life in very human ways: a tense exchange with a neighbour, and a moment on a crowded train that turned into a masterclass in choosing calm rather than escalating conflict. This episode is thoughtful, grounded and full of practical wisdom - for coaches, and for anyone navigating the complexity of modern life. For more information about Robbie, visit https://www.robbieswale.com/To buy The Power to Choose, visit http://geni.us/powertochooseFor more information about Alex Whitton, visit http://www.exploregrowbe.com/For more information about Alex Swallow, visit https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexswallow/Read more about The Coach's Journey at www.thecoachsjourney.com.Get Robbie's ebook for coaches, An Introduction to The Coach's Journey Flywheel at https://www.thecoachsjourney.com/the-coaching-business-flywheelMusic by My Good Man William: listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4KmeQUcTbeE31uFynHQLQgTo support the Coach's Journey, visit www.patreon.com/thecoachsjourney and to join the Coach's Journey Community visit www.thecoachsjourney.com/community. There are a million things in our lives that are not clear. Some by design, some by our own making. Next thing you know there's a mess. Maybe you made it, maybe you didn't, but if it's important to you and holding you back…Lack of clarity shows up in many ways.A cluttered, not clean living space that constantly distracts you from simply livingA toxic body that keeps grabbing your attention with annoying symptoms.A toxic mind that is full of junk you don't want to be thinking.A toxic heart full of feelings you'd rather not feel. The list goes on.This episode of Beth of Fresh Air is dedicated to one of my go-to solutions for many problems — to clean the heck up!I'll be exploring one of the 8 limbs in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras that emphasizes the spiritual gains from cleaning up, what cleaning up means at every level — body, mind, and spirit — why detoxing programs is the best way to speed a clean up at every level, and what the disciplined work will make easier.***Find me at bethmartens.com to do a King Hero Archetype quiz and find out where you currently are on the path of purpose.https://www.bethmartens.com/king-hero-archetype-quiz-sign-up

She began her inquiries in early 2020 after becoming skeptical of the official narrative surrounding the alleged COVID-19 pandemic, drawing on her background which included activism against water fluoridation, which taught her to question public health claims. In this episode of Beth of Fresh Air I'll be talking about memory, our innate ability to hold the past in our mind, body, and spirit (though the latter is debatable).I'll look at re-membering vs dismembering in the shamanic traditions I studied, the task of memorization that's a big part of social programming and engineering, the repetition of mantra that I've done a lot of for better and worse, and turn to the work of George Carrey for clues about how sound and light leave an impression on us, literally.I'll give a window into the detective work of discovering unconscious loops and stations that programming easily becomes, causing more complex “moving target” obstacles and forgotten freedom. And finally, while awakening into greater awareness and the freedom that can be made possible because of that is a great goal, the reality is that it's not a straight-line evolution. In the chat we'll discuss why that is the case, in hopes of giving people one less reason to feel defeated in their personal development.***MORE FROM BETHSign up to take a 5-minute King Hero's Journey archetype quizApply to become a member of the House of Free WillRumbleKing Hero Telegram ChannelTwitter (X)InstagramSign up for a Hero's Journey Archetype ReadingOrder a copy of my book, ‘Journey: A Map of Archetypes to Find Lost Purpose in a Sea of Meaninglessness'Donate by PayPal if you're inspiredFollow the King Hero's Journey Podcast on... The conversation with Mike was so good I don't really have the words to convey. You were really in sync, you two. Glad I stumbled upon it!Mike's bio:For over a decade, Mike Wilkerson has worked as a chiropractor in Spain, where his mission has been to help improve health one spine and mind at a time.Mike has always asked unconventional questions. As a teen computer hobbyist turned hacker in the early 80's, his thirst for deeper knowledge led to wild adventures with some of the top hackers in the nation. In 1985, the fun ended with brief incarceration, for his infiltration of computer servers at Microsoft and three other Seattle corporations. Interest in examining the 'unquestionables' never waned. In the decades that followed, Mike evolved from mischievous hacker, to benevolent back-cracker and in recent years an independent researcher. In this second episode of Beth of Fresh Air I'm going to invite people to gain greater perspective. The trick of the controllers is to get us behind the 8 ball in basic survival mode, even though that may or may not be the reality. The inability to see things over time, and recognize the revealing patterns, keeps people locked in the hypnosis of “lizard mind” assessing only, “Is it going to eat me?” Or, “Am I going to eat it?”This mode is an inspiration, vision, and connection killer. It's exhausting to the nervous system and ultimately results in people numbing and tuning out of their lives, and unnecessarily dividing from people, unable to make visioning a priority.Over the past three weeks I've been having private conversations with a number of people in my community to get a bird's eye view of where they are at. In this episode I'm going to share what I'm discovering and why being unable to clearly vision our future is the biggest enemy we face these days.***MORE FROM BETHSign up to take a 5-minute King Hero's Journey archetype quizApply to become a member of the House of Free WillRumbleKing Hero Telegram ChannelTwitter (X)InstagramSign up for a Hero's Journey Archetype ReadingOrder a copy of my book, ‘Journey: A Map of Archetypes to Find Lost Purpose in a Sea of Meaninglessness'Donate by PayPal if you're inspiredFollow the King Hero's Journey Podcast on... What does the future of coaching look like… and what can we learn from those who helped build it?Ruth Rochelle returns to The Coach's Journey Podcast to reflect on how the coaching world has evolved over the past four decades and where it might be heading next.Prompted by a listener's question, Ruth shares stories from the early days of coaching - when it was more movement than industry - through the professionalisation of the 1990s to today's fast-changing, tech-enabled landscape. Alongside the history, she offers her vision for what's emerging now: deeper work, greater humanity, and a renewed sense of trust.Ruth and Joey explore how coaching has shifted from performance to presence, from achievement to wholeness, and from certainty to curiosity. They discuss scepticism in the early days (and now), the rise of coaching bodies such as the ICF and EMCC, the impact of technology and AI, and why compassion and simplicity remain at the heart of great coaching. In this episode, Ruth talks about:Why the earliest coaching approaches focused on the inner game and self-beliefHow the field grew from informal practice to global professionThe evolution from performance and achievement to whole-person coachingWhy trust, compassion, and presence still matter most for coaches todayRuth also invites every coach to listen inwardly and lead the way forward for the profession. If you've ever wondered how the coaching profession began - or where it's going next - this conversation offers wisdom, warmth, and hope for coaches building meaningful, sustainable practices in a fast-changing world. For more information about Ruth, visit https://www.ruthrochelle.com/For more information about host Joey Owen, visit http://www.joeyowencoaching.com/Read more about The Coach's Journey at www.thecoachsjourney.com.Music by My Good Man William: listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4KmeQUcTbeE31uFynHQLQgTo support the Coach's Journey, visit www.patreon.com/thecoachsjourney and to join the Coach's Journey Community visit www.thecoachsjourney.com/community. What if almost every coaching challenge you face in your practice could be solved with better coaching contracts and clearer agreements? That's what Robbie dives into in this short episode.Drawing on his own coaching practice, experiences in supervision, and lessons learned from mentors and peers, Robbie explains why contracting with clients is one of the most important skills a coach can develop… and how better contracting could have solved almost every challenge he's ever brought to supervision. He shares how he builds contracting into every part of his work: from the very first client conversation, through re-contracting midway, to closing an engagement with clarity.Robbie explores the written coaching agreements he uses, the questions he asks clients, how he contracts with stakeholders while keeping confidentiality intact, and why he has stopped sending written coaching notes. Shruti Sonthalia says purpose is her superpower. A strong sense of purpose helped Shruti to demolish seemingly insurmountable barriers to becoming a Master Certified Coach and a globally renowned industry figure, and in this episode of The Coach's Journey Podcast, she implores all coaches to find their ‘why'.Shruti began her journey without coaches around her to learn from, living and working in a culture that assumed expertise was the preserve of men with white hair. Believing it was her purpose to create sacred spaces in the workplace, Shruti grafted with steadfast resolve to defy the gatekeepers and doubters who stood in her way.By taking the path less travelled and proving herself time and again, Shruti developed a work ethic that took her to the top of her profession, empowering leaders across global markets to embody a coaching mindset. She pays forward her expertise in the training curricula she devises and delivers to the next generation of coaches, founding her structured, evidence-based approach on the values and principles she speaks about in this episode. In this conversation, Shruti invites us all to ask: which parts of our journeys do we struggle to own? And how might addressing them enable changes within us that ripple out to the ecosystems we operate within?Shruti and host Neil Mackinnon also talk about:- Whether coaching has the same effectiveness in different areas, geographies, and realities- Accessibility of supervision as a vital aspect of coaching's growth and integrity- The learning we can take from our own procrastination- How a coaching mindset can help us embody shared power- The principle that says that which you focus on expands, and how to harness itTHINGS WE TALKED ABOUT THAT YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN:- AoEC - Academy of Executive Coaching https://www.aoec.com/ - ICF - International Coaching Federation https://coachingfederation.org/ - ICF Foundation https://foundationoficf.org/ - Shruti's paper on effectiveness of coaching in emerging markets https://radar.brookes.ac.uk/radar/file/08d2850c-51fe-42ab-aeea-e7ec829bc5a9/1/IJEBCM%2022_1_10.pdf - London School of Economics https://www.lse.ac.uk/ - Yannick Jacob on The Coach's Journey Podcast https://www.thecoachsjourney.com/podcast/97-yannick-jacob-going-beyond-blueprints-to-challenge-the-status-quo-of-coaching - Richard Layard https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Layard,_Baron_Layard - Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4069.Man_s_Search_for_Meaning - Martin Seligman https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Seligman - David Foster Wallace, This Is Water https://fs.blog/david-foster-wallace-this-is-water/ - Theory U by Otto Sharma https://www.amazon.co.uk/Theory-Learning-Emerges-Futures-Business/dp/1576757633 - Robbie Swale's writing on resistance https://www.robbieswale.com/the-12-minute-blog/2025/3/28/the-more-resistance-we-feel-towards-a-call-or-action-the-more-important-that-call-or-action-is-to-our-souls-evolution - The War of Art by Steven Pressfield https://www.amazon.co.uk/War-Art-Through-Creative-Battles/dp/1936891026 - IFS, parts work, what's in the way is the way https://matthewharwood.uk/ifs/ - RUHCO https://ruhco.org/

There are very few who value authenticity. They might give it lip service and wave the word around without actually living it. When I was growing up I wanted to be myself, which I noticed quickly that no one really wanted. Why? Because they are afraid to be seen, and afraid to see. Programming trains us to be rewarded for putting on the “correct” face and attitude, to say and do the “right” things to get love and approval. And then there are the Rebels that are more immune to wanting that reward. But they might err on the side of looking for disapproval, which is the same shadow as looking for approval. In this King Hero interview, join us for a conversation with the hosts of “Here for the Truth” podcast, Joel Rafidi and Yerasimos Stilianessis, to talk about the fine art of being real in a world that doesn't value that. We will talk about the nuances of authenticity, honesty, and honour, and look closely at where people go sideways.Find them and their podcast at:www.hereforthetruth.com Joel Rafidi and Yerasimos Stilianessis are truth-seekers, coaches, and educators committed to helping others break through illusion, live with authenticity, and take ownership of their lives. They are the co-hosts of the Here For The Truth podcast, the co-creators of Rise Above The Herd—a psycho-spiritual journey into deeper self-knowledge, courageous action, and living in alignment with your deepest truth—and the co-founders of Friends of the Truth, a private membership community for grounded and discerning individuals dedicated to authentic growth.Blending sharp philosophy, psychology, and unfiltered honesty, Joel brings a creative edge as a writer and conscious hip-hop artist, challenging conditioned narratives and inspiring radical self-responsibility.
