I'm welcoming Allan Kozinn back to the pod today, this time to look back on his amazing career and his journey to the remarkable McCartney Legacy books he's co writing with Adrian Sinclair. Allan worked as a culture reporter and music critic for the New York Times for 37 years, between 1977 and 2014, and during that time became the papers unofficial Beatles correspondent. He tells us about his his encounters with Paul and Ringo, his experience in the Dakota with Yoko and how his long career was building toward the amazing McCartney Legacy books.

This intensely creative time in McCartney's life saw him writing and recording four studio albums with Wings (Venus and Mars, Wings at the Speed of Sound, London Town and Back to the Egg), the biggest selling British single of the 1970s, 'Mull of Kintyre,' and a solo album packed with electronic experimentalism, McCartney II. I'm delighted to welcome Allan Kozinn and Adrian Sinclair back to the pod to discuss Volume 2 of their McCartney Legacy series. Volume 2 covers Paul's life from 1974 up until the start of 1980 and is researched in the same fascinating detail as Volume 1 was - for this conversation I wanted to focus on what happened to Paul and Wings after their 1976 World Tour concluded, he'd reached the top of the mountain again - what happened next? 

Part Two of our discussion with Allan Kozinn and Adrian Sinclair covering the McCartey Legacy, Volume 2.      All four of us (Lonnie, Jon, Ed and Marv) are still in on the conversation, as we pick up the McCartney story in New Orleans, visit John Lennon in the Dakota ("Live From New York, It's Saturday Night!") travel around the globe on a world tour, record on the high seas, record in a castle, complain about Pete Townshend (he wouldn't wear the suit), and end up in Japan...
