Andy and Tom have just returned from an unforgettable trip to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, where they attended the grand opening of the brand-new WINGS exhibit, beautifully curated by Andy Leach. It was fantastic catching up with members of our amazing 2Legs Family and exploring everything this incredible exhibit has to offer. Be sure to check out Andy's video for highlights from the weekend! Andy extended his stay and was lucky enough to attend a special presentation and intimate mini-concert featuring Laurence Juber and Steve Holley on Saturday. Despite their relatively short time in WINGS, both remain incredibly loyal and passionate supporters of Paul McCartney and his music. Andy, Heidi, and Joan even had the chance to meet them following the event! After an action-packed day, we rushed back to our hotels just in time to catch Paul's appearance on Saturday Night Live! While we expected “Days,” we were genuinely surprised that no Beatles songs made the broadcast setlist. We absolutely loved the performance. Were there a few rough edges? Maybe. But honestly… it's PAUL McCARTNEY. Watching a living legend still out there performing is always something special. Paul deserves to be celebrated. What about you? Laurence Juber is an acclaimed guitarist, composer, and former lead guitarist with Paul McCartney's band Wings.His journey began in London during the explosion of Beatlemania. Inspired by The Beatles' revolutionary sound, he picked up the guitar as a child and quickly developed into a versatile and highly skilled musician. His early ambition was to become a studio guitarist, and by his early twenties he was already working in some of London's most prestigious recording studios alongside legendary producers and artists.Everything changed in 1978 when Laurence received a call from Paul McCartney's office inviting him to audition for Wings. After impressing both McCartney and Denny Laine, he joined the band and contributed to the Back to the Egg album, touring and recording with one of the most influential musicians of all time.Laurence reflects on what it was really like working with Paul and Linda McCartney, the creative environment within Wings, and the profound personal and professional impact of that experience.Following Wings, Laurence moved to Los Angeles, where he built a remarkable career as a studio musician, contributing to iconic film soundtracks including Dirty Dancing, Good Will Hunting, and Pocahontas, and recording with artists such as Belinda Carlisle, Eric Carmen, and Al Stewart.Over time, Laurence discovered his true artistic voice as a solo acoustic fingerstyle guitarist. Welcome to a Very Special Episode of the podcast! This episode celebrates that we just passed 4 MILLION DOWNLOADS! I started the podcast 4 1/2 years ago, during the depths of the pandemic. At that time I had no audience and no guests. What I did have though was a goal: to inspire and motivate people to follow their dream, just like I followed my youthful music dream later in life.I'm pleased to say that the podcast has succeeded beyond my wildest expectations. It's won several awards and been ranked for some time in the top 1% of all podcasts, with listeners worldwide on every continent in 200 countries. My guests have been a remarkable collection of World Class musicians, actors, authors, directors, photographers and other creatives.It took two years to reach 1 million downloads, but only one more year to pass 2 million downloads. Then another eight months to surpass 3 million downloads. And now just another six months to pass 4 million total downloads - accrued over more than 630 episodes.In those six months I've aired over 130 episodes featuring more extraordinary guests, and also introducing several new singles as well as my latest album, What's Up. These musical works have featured a number of guest artists who were guests on the podcast.Doing this podcast has been a privilege. I've gotten to meet extraordinary artists from all over the world. At last count I've had guests from more than 30 different countries. My guests have introduced me and my listeners to a vibrant world community of music and the arts, one that is connected despite differences in language and culture. Martha Redbone is an extraordinary artist - a singer, songwriter and composer. She was selected as a United States Artist Fellow. Her music has been called a “tasty gumbo” of roots music which combines the folk and mountain blues of her youth growing up in the coal country of Kentucky, together with her teenage years living in Brooklyn, NY. Her songs and storytelling share her life experience as an Afro-Indigenous woman and mother. He played weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, private parties and the like on the weekends. In particular he loved Latin music. Benny Benack III - BB3 - is a phenomenal, extraordinarily talented, Emmy nominated, double threat guy. He's a world class trumpet player and a world class singer/crooner all in one. He's a consummate showman too and he lights up the room. He's carrying on the tradition of the great crooners. Sinatra would be proud of him. He was a finalist in the Thelonious Monk Competition on trumpet, and he also won a prize in the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition. I saw Benny perform this summer at Tanglewood in Massachusetts with three other world class trumpeters: Randy Brecker, Jon Faddis and Bria Skonberg, and invited him to be a guest on the podcast. Amelia Davis is the owner of legendary Rock Photographer Jim Marshall's archive, his former assistant, and the caretaker of his legacy. Jim Marshall was a photojournalist, street photographer and the Godfather of Rock and Roll Photography in the ‘60s. His work captured that era and is still relevant today. Benjamin Hochman is a dual threat artist. He's a pianist and a conductor. As a pianist he debuted at 24 as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall conducted by Pinchas Zukerman. He's performed with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago and Pittsburgh Symphonies, and Prague Philharmonia among others. She won the American Traditions Vocal Competition Gold Medal. She's collaborated with Christian McBride, Morgan James, Livingston Taylor and Benny Benack among others. Nicole leads her own quartet and has performed and recorded with the Birdland Big Band.
