A lot of us have heard about the big manufacturing trade shows like The International Manufacturing Technology Show and FABTECH. Those big trade shows can provide a lot of opportunities. But for many of us, a smaller mid-sized trade show could offer higher quality opportunities, if you do it right. As we know when it comes to high-quality leads, sometimes you can do a lot with a little. So, to help us better understand the magic of the mid-sized tradeshow, we're happy to be joined by Andrew LeGrand, industrial marketer at the Missouri Association of Manufacturers, aka MAM.

Today's guest is passionate about helping entrepreneurs grow and protect their businesses. Andrew Legrand is the Business Attorney at Spera Law Group LLC. Andrew was inspired to help others from a young age and he knew that he wanted to leverage current technology and try to be paperless. Andrew joins the host Molly McGrath to talk about the core values of his company and how to retain employees. Takeaways: Being a lawyer can be stressful and often time people tend to bring work home with them, so it's important to live your best life. Take time off if you need it and focus on taking care of yourself mentally. Communication is key when working at any company. It's better to over-communicate and make sure that everything is crystal clear rather than leave something unsaid or open to interpretation. Pay attention to the small details. When creating documents for clients, make sure that all the details are correct and that you are using the proper pronouns in the document as well. Employees like to have the freedom and flexibility that smaller businesses have to offer, and it's important to make sure that their needs are being met. They no longer are looking at just the pay but also the company culture. If you are dealing with high turnover or having retention issues, that means that it is a management problem. That requires a deeper level of self-reflection to figure out what the issue is. A business coach can be helpful to see where the flaws might be in your business and help to figure out how to solve the problems. It's a good idea to reward and recognize people in your company who are showing examples of actually embracing the core values. Quote of the Show: "Extraordinary Entrepreneurs, Leaders and Employees walk the talk of REAL Core Values that Excite you to go to work each and every day." Are there favorites in your family Do your parents favor one of your siblings over you Apparently if a random sample of people around a table at Happy Hour is representative it s common for your mom to tell you you re a disappointment. And your siblings aren t. Liz Wood is learning about parenting, literally overnight. One night a month ago she got a call from the foster care agency to say she and her husband had been approved as foster parents and they were getting an 11 year old next morning. That s how Liz got to be a mom. And to get a glimpse into the world of foster children. This is the very definition of eye opening. Andrew Legrand is not his mom s favorite. Even though he has a law degree and is smart enough to work out of his new house in Treme, practising law in his pyjamas. Justin Molaison is inheriting a 12 year old daughter by way of his impending marriage to Sarah, who he proposed to on the Gentilly Stage at this year s Jazz Fest. As we say on Happy Hour, "When you walk into a bar in New Orleans you never know who s going to be sitting on either side of you." This is one of the most surprisingly revealing Happy Hour conversations you ll ever stumble across. Photos at Wayfare by Jill Lafleur.

As law firms seek ways to improve efficiency, increase their earnings, and broaden their client base many attorneys find themselves focusing more time on the daily tasks needed to run their business rather than the actual practice of law. In this report from On The Road, host Laurence Colletti chats with Spera Law Group, LLC founding partner Andrew Legrand about Zapier, how it integrates into Clio, and how automation can aid attorneys by eliminating small mundane tasks.
Legal technologists often recommend automation for lawyers, so they can use their valuable time practicing law rather than on data entry. They have a few laughs while giving listeners some quick tips on how to get started, even if they are beginners in automation.
