In this insightful clip of EYL, our host Troy Millings sits down with Caleb Silver to delve into the essential topic of cryptocurrency wallets and the critical differences between hot and cold wallets. If you've ever found yourself scratching your head over how to securely store your Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, this is the episode for you.Caleb kicks off the discussion by explaining the fundamental necessity of owning a wallet for any cryptocurrency transaction. Unlike traditional money that you can physically hold, cryptocurrencies exist solely in digital form. A 'wallet' in the digital world is indispensable for trading, buying, selling, gifting, or accepting cryptocurrency. Caleb categorizes these wallets into two types: hot wallets and cold wallets.*Hot Wallets vs. Cold Wallets:*Hot Wallets: These are online wallets that reside on an internet-connected platform like Coinbase, Crypto.com, or Kraken. While they offer the convenience of quick access and easy transactions, Caleb points out that they are less secure due to their susceptibility to hacking.Cold Wallets: Often resembling a thumb drive, cold wallets serve as offline storage solutions. By being disconnected from the internet, they provide a more secure way of storing digital assets. However, the responsibility for safeguarding the wallet and its passcode lies entirely with the owner.Troy underscores the importance of purchasing cold wallets directly from the manufacturer, such as Ledger or Trezor, to avoid security risks. Anecdotes of people losing substantial amounts of money due to misplaced or mishandled cold wallets serve as cautionary tales. Both Troy and Caleb emphasize securing the seed phrase—usually a 20-24 word sequence—that's vital for accessing your cold wallet. Lose it, and your assets are irretrievable.*Regulation Concerns:*Caleb also touches on the lack of regulation in the cryptocurrency market. Unlike traditional financial systems, there is no Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) oversight, no Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance, and no Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) protection. This means if issues arise like hacking or fraud, users have limited recourse for recoveries.*Security First:*Recounting personal experiences, the speakers paint a realistic picture of the dangers involved—people losing access to their funds due to typographical errors in wallet addresses, or even encountering phishing attempts and hacking. These stories highlight the necessity of taking security seriously when dealing with digital assets. In summary, this episode is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the world of cryptocurrency but uncertain about how to start or how to safeguard their digital investments. Whether you choose to use a hot wallet for its convenience or a cold wallet for its added security, understanding these tools and the risks associated with them can go a long way in ensuring your investments are protected.*Join the Discussion:*Share your thoughts and experiences with cryptocurrency wallets in the comments below. Have you ever faced security issues? How do you store your digital assets safely? Let's learn from each other and make the crypto space safer for everyone.---Don't forget to subscribe to EYL and hit the notification bell so you never miss an episode!*Hashtags:*#EYL #Cryptocurrency #HotWallet #ColdWallet #Bitcoin #CryptoSecurity #DigitalAssets #Coinbase #LedgerWallet #CryptoRegulation---Watch more from EYL and join us as we continue to explore the fascinating world of finance, investment, and beyond!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/marketmondays/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
In this conversation Troy brings his younger brother on to the podcast to have an in depth conversation about what it was like struggling through school as a kid with ADHD all the way through the process of learning how to succeed and even use ADHD as the fuel that powers their success. Both Troy and Cody are DSM-5 diagnosable with ADHD. Troy is a certified School Psychologist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and works as a Program Director of Special Education in a school district. Cody is an MRI Technician, Chicken Farmer, and successful cyclist and Triathlete among many other things. Both men are fathers and husbands. This podcast was truly a blast for me (Troy) to record. This is a conversation that I've been excited to have with Cody for a long time. Do not miss this conversation. There is a great deal of fact and recourses that are shared from the perspective of a school psychologist and from both men who have learned, through experience, how to manage and thrive through ADHD. This episode we are joined by Jon Kitley to talk about his love of and history with Paul Naschy! Readers of Horror Hound magazine are aware of his regular column ‘They Came from the Krypt' but he has also published the book ‘Discover The Horror' which is part genre exploration and part autobiography. Both Troy and I recommend it. As you might expect from such a conversation, the three of us range all over the place touching on more topics than we could comfortably list. Suffice to say that we discuss horror conventions (where we all met), non-fiction horror genre books (which we all collect) and our shared fascination with movies and monstrous stories. Of course, we do finally get around to talking about Naschy with Jon falling squarely on my side of the critical Mummy divide! It is about time I had someone to stand with me on that hill! HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB was our guest's introduction to the great man's work and it becomes a big part of our chat. As a bonus, the legendary Spanish character actor Victor Israel gets more than a few minutes of glowing examination too. We had a great time talking Naschy and we hope you'll enjoy listening. If you have any comments or question naschycast@gmail.com is the place to send your emails. Thank you for checking out the show and we'll be back soon.
Happy New Year, and welcome back to another face kicking episode of Not A Bomb. Using the “Donnie Yen” clause in the podcast bylaws, the boys are starting the new year talking about 2021's Hong Kong police/action film - Raging Fire. This is Benny Chan's final directorial film before his passing in 2020 and feels like a throwback to classic Hong Kong cinema of the 80's and 90's. Raging Fire is the story of a righteous cop who must cross paths with his former protégé. Both Troy and Brad think this is one of the best action films from last year, if not the last 5 years, and recommend you seek it out immediately. To kick off the podcast, the guys talk about their holiday break and some of the films they watched. Additionally, Troy explains the reason why there are seven production companies on this film and the difficulties working within the Chinese government. Oh, and obviously, the boys guy-crush over Donnie Yen for a solid hour.Raging Fire is directed by Benny Chan and stars Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse, and Qin Lan.If you want to leave feedback or suggest a movie bomb, please drop us a line at NotABombPod@gmail.com. Also, if you like what you hear, leave a review on Apple Podcast.Cast: Brad, Troy
On the show are Troy Hunter and Justin Park, both attorneys in the Plateau Partners. While Troy is a personal injury lawyer, Justin specializes in business law. Both Troy and Justin each answer questions from the speed round, touching on what they do, why and how they're different than others in the same field. Stacy then pits the two friends against each other; having them answer questions about a theoretical situation involving a birthday party with inflatables and the company that provided them; a scenario meant to highlight what each of them do. While on opposing sides in that scenario, one thing they agreed on is the importance of calling a lawyer when you just aren't sure who to turn to, they jointly point out, even if they're not who you need, chances are they can direct you to a trusted resource. Charlie Gleason, a designer and developer at Heroku and Salesforce is in conversation with two members of the non-profit Active for Good: Troy Hickerson, its co-founder, and Luke Mysse, its managing director and brand strategist. Some years ago, Troy and Luke learned about Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food, which is a powdered milk formula designed to provide vitamins and nutrients to malnourished children. Since such a simple product had the potential to help so many lives, they were inspired to find a way to increase its production and distribution. This led to them starting Active for Good. They knew that people weren't likely to make behavior changes unless there was a motivation. They decided that in order to help people get more fit, the distinguishing feature of their activity-tracking app would be to convert every minute of exercise into points, and those points into RUTF packets. Active for Good has two types of challenges: an open public challenge, where you and your friends can try to meet a goal over the course of 30 days; and company challenges, where a company can invest in their people to encourage more movement. The aim of the app is to minimize screen time, get active, and help real people in the process. Activities aren't limited to strenuous exercise, either; housework, meditation, and other positive physical movements are also considered. Everyone from individuals to high schools to corporations have found the project useful. Both Troy and Luke understand that changing your habits can be difficult. But they also know that it's just important to pick an activity and try it. Whether that's slowly gaining miles on a bike ride, or deciding which philanthropic project to get involved in, the most important thing is to just start doing it. Links from this episode: Active for Good helps people stay motivated and engaged by connecting their activity to a great cause. Steve and Troy wonder, wafflingingly, what happens when a teacher tries the communicative approach and it fails. Some teachers fight it, don't understand it, get confused by it, and even maybe reject it! Or maybe it's the students who reject it? Oh wait, is it maybe worth rejecting? Both Troy and Steve have lots and lots of things to say about teachers who are incompatible with the communicative approach - join us and laugh at Steve's stupid stories.
This month we bring you a special episode of the show. If you've listened to many of our shows you will have heard us mention the magazine Video Watchdog in reference to something or some movie. Both Troy and I have been readers of the 'Perfectionist's Guide to Fantastic Video' for decades now and each issue brings new delights. The depth and breadth of the coverage in the pages of this digest sized joy is incredible. Several years ago we met duo behind the magazine and became great friends with them resulting in many fun evenings of movie (and music) discussion that often saw the sun rise before we called things to a halt. Call them publishers, editors, writers, film historians or just great folks Tim and Donna Lucas are two of the nicest people in the world and we're proud to bring you a chance to sit in on a conversation with each of them. First up, Donna takes the opportunity to explain the details of Video Watchdog's move to the digital world. Luckily this does not mean the end of the print version of VW (Thank the stars!) but the bells and whistles added to the online versions of each issue are astonishing. And proving just how nice a lady she is, Donna let's you in on an amazing deal - By using coupon code PODCAST at the Video Watchdog online store checkout you receive 50% off the Digital Archive (176 issues) until December 31, 2016. That's right! For the rest of this year you can grab the VW Digital Archive for half off the (already low) digital price! And did I mention that each new issue is online to read free for the first two months after it's published for FREE! Amazing. So go check out the latest issue inline and see what's going on! The current issue has tons of reviews and a huge article on Carmilla and the various screen adaptations of that classic female vampire tale. Longtime listeners will know that back in 2011 I got Tim Lucas to sit down for a couple of chats about Naschy's films resulting in some great discussion. I still think his defense of several aspects of BEAST AND THE MAGIC SWORD are eye opening and it is just such differing, knowledgeable opinions that I want when talking about genre film. Of course, Tim is one of the top genre film writers working today and his recent awards for his Mario Bava commentary tracks show that his skills translate from page to audio very well. Here we spend some time discussing several Jess Franco films and a few of their variations. Movies we touch on include THE OBSCENE MIRROR and it's non-porn Spanish language version THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MIRROR, FURY IN THE TROPICS, THE DIABOLICAL DOCTOR Z, THE EROTIC RITES OF FRANKENSTEIN and Franco's two Fu Manchu films. I think that in my excitement I may have babbled too much but just listen in for the pearls of insight and wisdom Tim brings to the table and it will all even out! I hope! The emergence of four nations framework in literary and historical scholarship has helped us to arrive at a fuller understanding of the complex and overlapping histories of the islands of Britain and Ireland, while recent research into Wales and Ireland in particular has helped to make the map of our relations more fully comprehensible. But what is the relevance and meaning of the four nations context for womens writing in Ireland and Wales? What part does gender play in the interconnected histories of Wales and Ireland, and how are questions of sexual and artistic identity addressed within texts that imagine British-Irish history in gendered terms? This lecture identifies finds evidence of a feminist reimagining of archipelagic relationships by two writers: Munster novelist and playwright Una Troy, and Welsh writer Menna Gallie, born into a mining community on the western edge of the South Wales coalfields. Both Troy and Gallie wrote novels that deploy plots of female friendship to interrogate the relationship between gender and national affiliation in a four nations context.
