Join me as I open up about how this event truly transformed my life. I'll be sharing my own personal reflections, hoping to give you a taste of the incredible moments we shared during the retreat. The weekend will include daily matins and vespers, and Sunday Divine Liturgy. The group will participate in interactive, leader-led discussion sessions, opportunities for community service, games, and social activities, and free time for relaxation and fellowship. The Antiochian Village is a Christian conference and retreat center located on 300 acres in the beautiful Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania, just six miles north of the historic town of Ligonier. Owned and operated by the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, Antiochian Village was established in 1978 through the vision and leadership of the Archbishop, Metropolitan Philip, who dreamed of a place where the faithful of all ages could meet, worship, and become closer to God, away from the distractions of daily life. ~Discussion Links:Intro Music: Byzantine chant. In this episode, Steve Fretzin and Brian Glass discuss:Focusing on the client experience.Partnering with family in your law firm.Highest and best use of lawyers' time for law firm success. The power of coopetition and accountability. Key Takeaways:What gets in the way of lawyer business success is thinking the lawyer needs to be in the middle of everything in their practice.Identify and write down everything that is important to you - then reverse engineer your firm based on that criteria.Execute the good ideas and lessons learned from your peer groups. Having forced external accountability can help you to actually accomplish those goals.Give more power to your lieutenant - give them reins and responsibility, but also give them coaching and power to make decisions. You cannot do it all, especially if you are wanting to scale and grow. "If you have a good enough team, and you have a large enough vision, you can give them these projects to go and run with. I don't have to do it. I just have to have a big enough vision and create a fun enough and intellectually exciting enough place to work that attracts the kind of person that can go and execute on that for me." — Brian GlassGet a free copy of Steve's book “Sales-Free Selling” here: www.fretzin.com/sales-free-selling Thank you to our Sponsors!Get Staffed Up: https://getstaffedup.com/bethatlawyer/Overture: https://overture.law/Get Visible: https://www.getvisible.com/ Episode References: Vivid Vision by Cameron Herold - https://www.amazon.com/Vivid-Vision-Remarkable-Aligning-Business/dp/161961877XMy First Million: https://www.mfmpod.com/ About Brian Glass: Brian Glass is a personal injury lawyer in Fairfax, Virginia. Matthew Dowling was born and raised in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. He calls our hills and mountains “home” – this region is where he's chosen to build a business and a family. A husband, father, and former non-profit executive, Matt loves his community and has spent years fighting for the growth and betterment of Fayette County and Southwestern Pennsylvania.Matt served as a State Representative for the 51st Legislative District in Fayette and Somerset Counties for three terms, six years. A strong business background and a commonsense approach inform Matt's actions. He realizes that the taxpayers in Pennsylvania are already overburdened – that's why as a legislator he took up the cause of holding the line on taxes and spending. He advanced legislation that protects our small businesses, which represent the backbone of economic vitality in Pennsylvania, and accounts for a significant share of the state's economic production and hiring. During his tenure, the 51st Legislative District was made up of parts of Fayette and Somerset counties. In Fayette County, the district includes the city of Uniontown and the townships of Georges, German, Henry Clay, Nicholson, South Union, Springfield, Springhill, Stewart and Wharton and the boroughs of Fairchance, Markleysburg, Ohiopyle, Point Marion and Smithfield. In Somerset County, the district included the townships of Addison, Elk Lick, Lower Turkeyfoot, Summit and Upper Turkeyfoot and the boroughs of Addison, Confluence, Garrett, Meyersdale, Salisbury and Ursina. Matt is driven by faith, family, and freedom. He is pro-life and is dedicated to protecting the constitutional rights of all Pennsylvanians, including the Second Amendment rights. The Pew Research Center reports Americans trust in government is only 20% an historic low, as people believe their elected officials are more concerned about serving their personal interests rather than the people they serve. Matthew Dowling was born and raised in these Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. He calls our hills and mountains “home” – this region is where he's chosen to build a business and a family. A husband, father, and former non-profit executive, Matt loves his community and has spent years fighting for the growth and betterment of Fayette County and Southwestern Pennsylvania. Matt served as a State Representative for the 51st Legislative District in Fayette and Somerset Counties for three terms, six years. During his tenure the 51st Legislative District was made up of parts of Fayette and Somerset counties. He is pro-life, and is dedicated to protecting the constitutional rights of all Pennsylvanians, including our Second Amendment rights. In keeping with his passion for serving others, Matt is a former member of the Fayette County Behavioral Services Board and a former director of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce. What did Cam Heyward say to console George Pickens on Sunday? He explained today. The guys wondered how much frustration came from Pickens due to Diontae Johnson struggling against the Falcons. Chris mentioned how Pickens was celebrating the Connor Heyward touchdown and wasn't just a guy pouting all game. The guys shifted the conversation to Lamar Jackson and what his future looks like in Baltimore. Poni doesn't think there's any way the Ravens offer him anything super long-term, not even 5 years. WVU football recruiting: Rich Kolesar, Laurel Highlands head coach on Rodney Gallagher; Thomas Rocco, former Tyler JC head coach on Jaylen Shelton and Wayne Webber on the Indy 500.
It's coming down to crunch time for Penn State football with several top prospects as May draws to a close. The BWI Daily Edition Recruiting show focuses on two top prospects who have been in the news lately. Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder and reporter Greg Pickel tackle that and other notable news items from the last week. They start with the news that four-star receiver Rodney Gallagher moved up his commitment date from July 4th to May 25th. This news comes just days after reports in the recruiting world surfaced that Gallagher was leaning towards committing to West Virginia. What's going on? Snyder explains what he's learned and what factors play into the Laurel Highlands receiver's situation. Also, where does Snyder think that Gallagher will choose Wednesday? He gives his thoughts. Next, they discuss another Penn State prospect that was supposedly a lock for the Nittany Lions in three-star defensive end Mason Robinson. But, like Gallagher, there were rumblings recently that Penn State's lead wasn't only slipping but that the defensive lineman planned on committing to Northwestern after a visit earlier this month. Pickel and Snyder discuss the situation there and dissect what has transpired since then. Finally, they wrap up with a discussion about elite prospect Kadyn Proctor, the 31st player in the nation, according to On3's player rankings. He's set an official visit to Penn State for the summer. Does Penn State have a chance? Snyder gives his thoughts on why the Nittany Linos are hosting Proctor. Subscribe to the BWI Daily Edition on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts. We talk with Dana O'Driscoll who currently serves as the Grand Archdruid of the AODA and is an Ollave Adept. Her Druid Adept project explored connections between permaculture and druidry and we discuss using natural materials for a variety of projects. Complimentary OBOD studies, family traditions and land healing are also touched on in our conversation with Dana.AODA's podcast focuses on exploring the many aspects of modern druidry through interviewing druids from many walks of life. By hearing each other's stories and sharing about our paths, we are able to understand and document how diverse modern druid practices are. By sharing the stories of various AODA druids, we can all come to a deeper understanding of our living tradition, build our tradition in new ways, and explore how our values and practices allow for meaningful connection with nature. Dana O'Driscoll spent most of her childhood in the wooded hills of the Laurel Highlands region of Pennsylvania, making mud pies, building brush cabins, and eating berries. Thankfully, little has changed, and she can still be found practicing permaculture, wildcrafting, and natural arts and is often covered with paint, dirt, or both. She is a certified permaculture designer and teacher. Dana currently serves as the Grand Archdruid of the AODA and is an Ollave Adept. She is also a Druid-grade graduate of the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids and served as the 2018 OBOD Mount Haemus scholar. Her Druid Adept project explored connections between permaculture and druidry, the end result of which was published as Sacred Actions: Living the Wheel of the Year Through Earth-Centered Sustainable Practices in 2021. She is also the author and illustrator of the Tarot of Trees, Plant Spirit Oracle, and TreeLore Oracle. Her writings on druidry and permaculture can be found at The Druid's Garden. The Penn State recruiting class of 2023 is off to a hot start with several top 100 players this cycle. One key recruit in those efforts is four-star receiver from Laurel Highlands high school, Rodney Gallagher. The uncommitted Pittsburgh native joins the BWI Daily Edition to talk about his recruitment, what he wants in a school at the next level and more. Host Thomas Frank Carr starts the conversation with Gallagher off with basketball. The two-sport star recorded the show with T-Frank days before the WPIAL 5A Boys Basketball Championship game against New Castle. Gallagher and T-Frank discuss the WPIAL tournament to that point, the game, which Laurel Highlands won, and how basketball makes Gallagher a better football player. After that, they shift over to Gallagher's recruitment. He tells T-Frank which schools he's been in contact with the most and how he feels about the process during the middle of basketball season. In a previous interview, the do-it-all athlete had stated that he's not thinking about official visits during his basketball season. Still, he does understand the process and explains how he tries to keep in contact with schools. Next, they discuss Gallagher's game on the field instead of the hardwood. Gallagher has played multiple positions for Laurel Highlands over several seasons but has spent most of his time at quarterback. He explains how that situation came to be and then gives a definitive answer after T-Frank asks what position he sees himself at most. He feels so strongly that one school has switched up its recruitment to suit his vision, it seems. Once they finish talking shop, they discuss what's next for Gallagher. He tells T-Frank what he plans to do differently this fall and then details how he's planning on going all-in on football this offseason. Aside from camps, he plans on going after one area of his game very hard this spring and summer. While he doesn't give a firm timeline on his recruiting process, he is adamant on one key thing. From there, they discuss what's important to Gallagher in a fit for the next level. What does he want from the situation? He gives a clear vision of what he is looking for in the school and the playing situation at the next level. They wrap up with a fun “get to know you” segment before Gallagher's answers spark a question about NIL.
