About Charlene Jones: She healed herself from severe PTSD. One of the meditation practices she used to strengthen and support her wholeness is Visualization Meditation. In this episode, Adam and Charlene discuss:The power of visualization Tibetan mental technologyHealing through meditation and visualizationKey Takeaways:When you visualize strongly enough you can receive a lot of information - whether inward, outward, within the world or even beyond the present. Create a calm figure, visualize them in your mind and meditate on that image and feeling of calm. You can will yourself to feel what you want to feel and experience what you want to experience. You can heal yourself through visualization and meditation - which could be done in the form of writing. "The conscious mind can line up to what it is we're wanting - absolutely. Our conscious minds can help us pivot from one thing to another but there is a need to let go of those negative toxins that have accumulated in the body" — Charlene JonesConnect with Charlene Jones: Twitter: https://twitter.com/charlenejones18Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Charlene-Diane-Jones-1398168943785170/Website: http://www.soulsciences.net/Book: https://www.amazon.com/s?i=digital-text&rh=p_27%3ACharlene+JonesShow: https://podcast.soulsciences.net/ Connect With Adam Weber:Website: https://meditationnotmedicine.com/about/Email: adam@meditationnotmedicine.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/easytomeditate Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/meditationnotmedicine/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPnbji9rDrCfxhY0W8sHL9ABook: Meditation Not Medicine Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla.Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. When we hear the word 'science', or even think of it, our minds can transport to the intellectual proponets of foundational studies, experiments, chemistry labs, test tubes, and ofcourse data analysis. Measured activity focused on the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observations, and other principles, to explain the sometimes unexplainable. Charlene Jones is an award-winning author, podcaster, studier and future practioner of 'Havening', and an innovator that realizes there is another proponent to science, and because of recent discoveries, the thought of science does not have to be so 'matter-of-factly' or impersonal but can be thought of outside of the box and used to aid in helping others survive Trauma. Latonia and Charlene will get into the conversation of 'The Soul of Science!' --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/a-womans-soul-restored/message
In this episode, author and spiritual teacher Charlene Jones shares not only her near death experience but also the many ways she's been cracked open to experience the transcendent in her life. In this episode, we'll talk about an early kundalini awakening she had while meditating as a teenager, her abduction and escape from her kidnappers, her struggles with darkness, a near death experience, past lives, and her heritage of Celtic spirituality. Sensitive listeners, please note that Charlene's story includes a lot of trauma and deals with topics like sexual violence and murder. From all this trauma comes a life suffused with the transcendent, and Charlene offers us her wisdom throughout the episode. In the late 19th century, a pivotal evolution occurred. It is one that still echoes today and underscores the entire field of psychology and a lot of the work I do as a psychotherapist. During this time, it was discovered that major physiological diseases had a psychological basis. The French neurologist Jean Charcot was able to move physiological distress in the body through suggestion; you may know this phenomenon as transference. It is connected to the idea that much of our psychological life manifests itself in our physiological body, and that the body works to vehemently protect us against exposure, vulnerability, and humiliation. This can be difficult for some when there is an increased need to reach out to others for help; one can go from vehemently protecting themselves one day to desperately needing others the next. This can cause a war between the part of us that longs to be comforted and the part of us that has warned us sometimes for decades against needing others too much. The energy expended trying to solve this conflict causes distress on the human body and manifests as fatigue, distraction, and a general feeling of being lost or disoriented. Today's guest, Charlene Jones, introduced me to the power of our emotional life and the need for strong containers and embodied emotion. I was tremendously fortunate to meet her when I did. She came into my life at a time when I needed someone who had compassion for my situation while also providing the boundaries necessary to pass through it. Charlene was also prompted in her life to dig deep and build a container for her own experience. She later poured those experiences and knowledge into her career as a writer, therapist, and teacher. Tune in to learn how to manage your grief and get through difficult life transitions. Show Highlights: The story behind how Charlene and I met and why that situation still reverberates inside of me. Why emotional structures and containers are so important in life and how Charlene came to understand their significance. Why not fitting into your culture can sometimes be a sign of good mental health. How Charlene works with people who are resisting their negative emotions. How our emotions can physically manifest. Why our society needs a greater capacity for tolerating anguish. When Charlene decided to pursue psychotherapy. What has surprised her the most about her work. What the trauma of the present is and how to work through it. Subscribe and Review We'd appreciate you subscribing to this podcast and leaving an Apple Podcasts review. As a child, Charlene experienced PTSD from an unhealthy home environment. She ran away from home and was attracted to the 'dark side'. Her life took a positive turn, when she began following in the footsteps of a meditation teacher. Today, she helps people understand there are powerful ways to heal, empowers those that are stuck and teaches meditation. Charlene shares these powerful nuggets of life wisdom: - we can heal from almost anything - you can do this - ask yourself what brings you joy - follow your joy - neurons that fire together stay together - find a way to 'let go', e.g. journal, feel the feelings or cry, weekly for an hour - be mindful of your night dreams, which are metaphors and powerful energy - do the 'body work', e.g. release the memories and energy from the body - practice meditation and visualization - build your conscious mind - make meaning out of your suffering - we are developing a collective conscious - you are the drop that is making the wave happen - practice appreciation, gratitude and be positive http://www.soulsciences.net charlenej@rogers.com tags: Charlene, Jones, writer, author, healing, abuse, PTSD, healthy, mind, body, meditation, storiesthatempower.com, story, stories, that, empower, empowering, empowerment, inspire, inspiring, inspiration, encourage, encouraging, encouragement, hope, light, podcast, Sean https://storiesthatempower.com
I interview Charlene Jones, author of My Impossible Life: Trauma, Travel, Transcendence. Her story is one of incredible courage and tenacity after an extremely traumatic experience. We talk about her story, why she wrote her book and what she hopes readers will take away. Here's an overview of her book: Running from an untenable home life, Charlene finds herself captive to two armed criminals for three days. She returns to her home but shows up wasted and addicted until she meets and travels with the contentious, contemptuous meditation teacher Leslie George Dawson. Dawson was recognized by the Tibetan spiritual leader the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa (think Dalai Lama of a different sect) as the spiritual leader who brings the teaching to the New World, the Namgyal. Charlene's outer adventures include escaping tornadoes while sailing the Gulf of Mexico, drinking chang with Mongol men in India's north, meditating 21 hours a day during a 3-month silent meditation retreat in New Zealand, working and living in the slums of Sydney Australia, journeying through Crete, Cancun, Norway and more all before her 25th birthday. Yet these outer experiences do not solve her inner struggle. Strangled by persistent depression, struck from sleep by nightmares and aware of the close claw of addiction Charlene knows she lives in a kind of paralysis of her senses. Will her focus on healing and her Celtic inheritance of Angel direction be enough to guide her through the dark labyrinths of her past and yield a life worth living? How will she weave the paradoxes in what she calls "My Impossible Life"? You can find her book on Amazon.
