For over three decades, American International Pictures released movies that were amazing, colossal, incredible, and sometimes abominable, and made for an audience that had long been underserved: the American teenager. The studio released everything from monster movies to biker flicks to Edgar Allen Poe adaptations - films with lurid titles, controversial subject matter and some surprisingly big names. Beloved by B-movie fans everywhere, AIP has produced hundreds of films since it was founded in 1954, but there's never been a podcast devoted to these masters of schlock and awe…until now! Each episode of The American International Podcast will look at a film from the iconic studio and talk about the cast, the plot, the production and the movie's history and cultural impact.. Just in time for the studio's 69th anniversary, The American International Podcast is coming April 2nd to all podcast platforms. The American International Podcast is part of the Pop Culture Entertainment Network.Social Media Links:TwitterInstagramFacebook

Michigan law adds mandatory reporters after Nassar scandal Physical and occupational therapists, and athletic trainers are now required to report suspected child abuse or neglect under a new Michigan law that follows the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal. Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer this week signed the legislation. It comes more than four years after the former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University sports doctor was sentenced to a virtual life sentence for his conviction on child pornography charges and sexually abusing athletes. Several athletes testified during victim impact statements in 2018 that over the course of Nassar’s more than two decades of sexual abuse they told adults what was happening, including athletic trainers, and it went unreported. Several athletes testified during victim impact statements in 2018 that over the course of Nassar’s more than two decades of sexual abuse they told adults what was happening, including athletic trainers, and it went unreported. The winner advances to play either North Dakota or American International in the regional championship on Saturday night.   There isn't a group of players in all of college hockey with more NCAA tournament experience and success than the Bulldogs' senior class, which in its first two seasons at UMD helped the program win back-to-back national championships. After COVID-19 canceled last year's NCAA tournament, the Bulldogs are finally getting their shot at completing a historic three-peat.   Joining the podcast this week to preview this year's tournament are defensemen Matt Anderson and Louie Roehl, along with winger Kobe Roth.

William E. Lobeck Jr. began his career in the 1960s at Norfolk Pontiac and Chevrolet dealerships, Norfolk, Virginia, cultivating daily rental car companies as his largest customers. He created the very first dealer repurchase program and established a special purpose leasing company out of a need to serve his customers. Eventually, manufacturers took notice of these programs and today repurchase programs and special purpose leasing agreements are a significant component of the automotive and daily car rental industries.Lobeck was ultimately persuaded to join one of his daily rental customers, Dallas-based American International, becoming president and CEO in 1979. During his 11-year tenure, the company grew from 18 offices in seven states to nearly 300 offices across the country. In 1981, Lobeck and four partners purchased Thrifty Car Rental, a North American car rental franchise system with great potential but in serious financial trouble. Reengineering every aspect of the company from its financial management to its public brand, the partners increased the company’s profitability, eventually leading to a successful IPO in 1987.He has had successful stints as an executive associated with a who’s who of car rental companies, including Dollar Rent-A-Car, Snappy Car Rental, General Rent A Car, National Car Rental, and Alamo Rent-A-Car. He sold his interests in the Alamo and National brands in 2007 to Enterprise Rent-A-Car.The Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation was established in 1997 and is involved in a broad range of philanthropic activities.Bill Lobeck has been awarded an honorary Doctoral degree from his alma mater, Old Dominion University, and inducted into the University of Tulsa College of Business Hall of Fame and the Tulsa Historical Society Hall of Fame.
